1 וַֽיְהִי֙ [3] Pashta
כִּֽי־זָקֵ֣ן יִצְחָ֔ק [2] Zaqef
 
וַתִּכְהֶ֥יןָ עֵינָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
מֵרְאֹ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּקְרָ֞א [4] Gershayim
אֶת־עֵשָׂ֣ו ׀ [4] Legarmeh
בְּנ֣וֹ הַגָּדֹ֗ל [3] Revi'i
 
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ [3] Pashta
בְּנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
הִנֵּֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq

and his eyes were too dim [2]
for seeing; [1]
 
he called [4]
Esau [4]
his elder son, [3]
 
and he said to him, [3]
“My son?” [2]
 
And he said to him, [2]
“Here I am.” [1]

לֹ֥א יָדַ֖עְתִּי [2] Tip'cha

“See now, [2]
I am old. [1]
 
I don’t know [2]
the day of my death. [1]
3 וְעַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
שָׂא־נָ֣א כֵלֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
תֶּלְיְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
וְקַשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וְצֵא֙ [3] Pashta
הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְצ֥וּדָה לִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
*צידה **צָֽיִד׃ [1] Silluq

please take your weapons, [2]
 
your quiver [2]
and your bow; [1]
 
and go out [3]
to the field, [2]
 
and hunt for me [2]
wild game. [1]
4 וַעֲשֵׂה־לִ֨י מַטְעַמִּ֜ים [4] Geresh
כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהַ֛בְתִּי [3] Tevir
וְהָבִ֥יאָה לִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
וְאֹכֵ֑לָה [1] Etnachta
 
בַּעֲב֛וּר [3] Tevir
תְּבָרֶכְךָ֥ נַפְשִׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha
בְּטֶ֥רֶם אָמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq

such as I love, [3]
and bring it to me, [2]
that I may eat; [1]
 
so that [3]
my soul may bless you [2]
before I die.” [1]
5 וְרִבְקָ֣ה שֹׁמַ֔עַת [2] Zaqef
בְּדַבֵּ֣ר יִצְחָ֔ק [2] Zaqef
אֶל־עֵשָׂ֖ו [2] Tip'cha
בְּנ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ עֵשָׂו֙ [3] Pashta
הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
לָצ֥וּד צַ֖יִד [2] Tip'cha
לְהָבִֽיא׃ [1] Silluq

when Isaac spoke [2]
to Esau [2]
his son; [1]
 
and Esau went [3]
to the field, [2]
 
to hunt wild game, [2]
to bring it. [1]
6 וְרִבְקָה֙ [3] Pashta
אָֽמְרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֶל־יַעֲקֹ֥ב בְּנָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
הִנֵּ֤ה שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶת־אָבִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
מְדַבֵּ֛ר [3] Tevir
אֶל־עֵשָׂ֥ו אָחִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq

to Jacob her son, [2]
saying; [1]
 
“Behold, I heard [3 3]
your father [2]
 
speaking [3]
to Esau your brother, [2]
saying, [1]
7 הָבִ֨יאָה לִּ֥י צַ֛יִד [3] Tevir
וַעֲשֵׂה־לִ֥י מַטְעַמִּ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
וְאֹכֵ֑לָה [1] Etnachta
 
וַאֲבָרֶכְכָ֛ה [3] Tevir
לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

and prepare for me savory food, [2]
that I may eat; [1]
 
and so that I may bless you [3]
before the LORD [2]
before my death.’ [1]
8 וְעַתָּ֥ה בְנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
לַאֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
מְצַוָּ֥ה אֹתָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 8 Now therefore my son, [2]
listen to my voice; [1]
 
according to that which I [2]
am commanding you. [1]
9 לֶךְ־נָא֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הַצֹּ֔אן [2] Zaqef
 
וְקַֽח־לִ֣י מִשָּׁ֗ם [3] Revi'i
שְׁנֵ֛י [3] Tevir
גְּדָיֵ֥י עִזִּ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
טֹבִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֨ה אֹתָ֧ם מַטְעַמִּ֛ים [3] Tevir
לְאָבִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהֵֽב׃ [1] Silluq

to the flock [2]
 
and get me from there [3]

young goats, [2]
good; [1]
 
so that I may make them savory food [3]
for your father [2]
such as he loves. [1]
10 וְהֵבֵאתָ֥ לְאָבִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
וְאָכָ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
בַּעֲבֻ֛ר [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְבָרֶכְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

that he may eat; [1]
 
so that [3]
he may bless you [2]
before his death.” [1]
11 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef
אֶל־רִבְקָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אִמּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
הֵ֣ן עֵשָׂ֤ו אָחִי֙ [3] Pashta
אִ֣ישׁ שָׂעִ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
וְאָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אִ֥ישׁ חָלָֽק׃ [1] Silluq

to Rebekah [2]
his mother; [1]
 
“Behold, Esau my brother [3]
is a hairy man, [2]
 
and I [2]
am a smooth man. [1]
12 אוּלַ֤י יְמֻשֵּׁ֙נִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
אָבִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְהָיִ֥יתִי בְעֵינָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
כִּמְתַעְתֵּ֑עַ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י עָלַ֛י [3] Tevir
קְלָלָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וְלֹ֥א בְרָכָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

my father, [2]
 
and I will be in his eyes [2]
as a deceiver; [1]
 
and I will bring on myself [3]
a curse, [2]
and not a blessing?” [1]
13 וַתֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ [3] Pashta

עָלַ֥י קִלְלָתְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
בְּנִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
אַ֛ךְ [3] Tevir
שְׁמַ֥ע בְּקֹלִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
וְלֵ֥ךְ קַֽח־לִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

his mother, [2]
 
“Let your curse be on me, [2]
my son; [1]
 
only [3]
listen to my voice, [2]
and go get them for me.” [1]
14 וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta
וַיִּקַּ֔ח [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּבֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha
לְאִמּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וַתַּ֤עַשׂ אִמּוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
מַטְעַמִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
אָהֵ֥ב אָבִֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

and he got them, [2]
 
and he brought them [2]
to his mother; [1]
 
and his mother prepared [3]
savory food [2]

אֶת־בִּגְדֵ֨י עֵשָׂ֜ו [4] Geresh
בְּנָ֤הּ הַגָּדֹל֙ [3] Pashta
הַחֲמֻדֹ֔ת [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתָּ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
בַּבָּ֑יִת [1] Etnachta
 
וַתַּלְבֵּ֥שׁ אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
בְּנָ֥הּ הַקָּטָֽן׃ [1] Silluq

the clothes of Esau [4]
her elder son, [3]
the good ones, [2]
 
which were with her [2]
in the house; [1]
 
and she clothed Jacob [2]
her younger son. [1]

גְּדָיֵ֣י הָֽעִזִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
הִלְבִּ֖ישָׁה [2] Tip'cha
עַל־יָדָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וְעַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
חֶלְקַ֥ת צַוָּארָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

the skins [3]
of the young goats, [2]
 
she put [2]
on his hands; [1]
 
and on [2]
the smooth of his neck. [1]
17 וַתִּתֵּ֧ן אֶת־הַמַּטְעַמִּ֛ים [3] Tevir
וְאֶת־הַלֶּ֖חֶם [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑תָה [1] Etnachta
 
בְּיַ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
יַעֲקֹ֥ב בְּנָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 17 And she put the savory food [3]
and the bread [2]
which she had prepared; [1]
 
in the hand [2]
of her son Jacob. [1]
18 וַיָּבֹ֥א אֶל־אָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אָבִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הִנֶּ֔נִּי [2] Zaqef
מִ֥י אַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בְּנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 18 And he went to his father [2]
and he said, “My father?” [1]
 
And he said, “Here I am. [2]
Who are you, [2]
my son?” [1]
19 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֜ב [4] Geresh

אָנֹכִי֙ [3] Pashta
עֵשָׂ֣ו בְּכֹרֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef

am Esau your firstborn. [2]
 
I have done [2]
just as you said [2]
to me. [1]
 
Please arise, sit, [3]
and eat [3]
of my wild game, [2]

your soul may bless me.” [1]

מִהַ֥רְתָּ לִמְצֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha
בְּנִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
 
כִּ֥י הִקְרָ֛ה [3] Tevir
יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
לְפָנָֽי׃ [1] Silluq

to his son, [2]
 
“How is this [3]
that you have found it so quickly, [2]
my son?” [1]
 
And he said, [2]
 
“Because he made it happen, [3]
the LORD your God, [2]
for me.” [1]
21 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִצְחָק֙ [3] Pashta
אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
גְּשָׁה־נָּ֥א וַאֲמֻֽשְׁךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
בְּנִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
הַֽאַתָּ֥ה זֶ֛ה [3] Tevir
בְּנִ֥י עֵשָׂ֖ו [2] Tip'cha
אִם־לֹֽא׃ [1] Silluq

to Jacob, [2]
 
“Please come near that I may feel you [2]
my son; [1]
 
whether you are really [3]
my son Esau [2]
or not.” [1]
22 וַיִּגַּ֧שׁ יַעֲקֹ֛ב [3] Tevir
אֶל־יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וַיְמֻשֵּׁ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר [3] Revi'i
הַקֹּל֙ [3] Pashta
ק֣וֹל יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
וְהַיָּדַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
יְדֵ֥י עֵשָֽׂו׃ [1] Silluq

to Isaac his father, [2]
and he felt him; [1]
 
and he said, [3]
“The voice [3]
is the voice of Jacob, [2]
 
but the hands [2]
are the hands of Esau.” [1]
23 וְלֹ֣א הִכִּיר֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־הָי֣וּ יָדָ֗יו [3] Revi'i
כִּידֵ֛י [3] Tevir
עֵשָׂ֥ו אָחִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
שְׂעִרֹ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
וַֽיְבָרְכֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 3 23 And he didn’t recognize him, [2]
 
because his hands, [3]
like the hands [3]
of Esau his brother, [2]
were hairy; [1]
 
so he blessed him. [1]
24 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
אַתָּ֥ה זֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בְּנִ֣י עֵשָׂ֑ו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֖אמֶר [2] Tip'cha
אָֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq

“Are you really [2]
my son Esau?” [1]
 
And he said, [2]
“I am.” [1]
25 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר [3] Revi'i
הַגִּ֤שָׁה לִּי֙ [3] Pashta
וְאֹֽכְלָה֙ [3] Pashta
מִצֵּ֣יד בְּנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
לְמַ֥עַן תְּבָֽרֶכְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
נַפְשִׁ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּגֶּשׁ־לוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
וַיֹּאכַ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּ֧בֵא ל֦וֹ יַ֖יִן [2] Tip'cha
וַיֵּֽשְׁתְּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 3 2 2 3 2 25 And he said, [3]
“Bring it near to me, [3]
so I can eat [3]
of my son’s wild game, [2]
 
that it may bless you [2]
my soul.” [1]
 
And he brought it near to him [3]
and he ate, [2]
 
and he brought wine to him [2]
and he drank. [1]
26 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
יִצְחָ֣ק אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
גְּשָׁה־נָּ֥א וּשְׁקָה־לִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
בְּנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 26 And he said to him, [2]
his father Isaac; [1]
 
“Come near now and kiss me [2]
my son.” [1]
27 וַיִּגַּשׁ֙ [3] Pashta
וַיִּשַּׁק־ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּ֛רַח [3] Tevir
אֶת־רֵ֥יחַ בְּגָדָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר [3] Revi'i
רְאֵה֙ [3] Pashta
רֵ֣יחַ בְּנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
כְּרֵ֣יחַ שָׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּרְכ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

and he kissed him, [2]
 
and he smelled [3]
the smell of his clothing, [2]
and he blessed him; [1]
 
and he said, [3]
“Behold [3]
the smell of my son [2]
 
is like the smell of a field [2]
which he has blessed, [2]
the LORD. [1]
28 וְיִֽתֶּן־לְךָ֙ [3] Pashta
הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
מִטַּל֙ [3] Pashta
הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
וּמִשְׁמַנֵּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
הָאָ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta
 
וְרֹ֥ב דָּגָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
וְתִירֹֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq

God, [2]
 
of the dew [3]
of the heavens, [2]
 
and of the fatness [2]
of the earth; [1]
 
and plenty of grain [2]
and new wine. [1]

*וישתחו **וְיִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֤וּ לְךָ֙ [3] Pashta
לְאֻמִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
הֱוֵ֤ה גְבִיר֙ [3] Pashta
לְאַחֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְיִשְׁתַּחֲו֥וּ לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
בְּנֵ֣י אִמֶּ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta
 
אֹרְרֶ֣יךָ אָר֔וּר [2] Zaqef
וּֽמְבָרְכֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
בָּרֽוּךְ׃ [1] Silluq

and may they bow down to you, [3]
nations. [2]
 
Be lord [3]
over your brothers, [2]
 
and may they bow down to you, [2]
the sons of your mother. [1]
 
Those who curse you be cursed, [2]
and those who bless you [2]
be blessed.” [1]

לְבָרֵ֣ךְ אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹב֒ [2] Segol

אַ֣ךְ יָצֹ֤א יָצָא֙ [3] Pashta
יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
מֵאֵ֥ת פְּנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
יִצְחָ֣ק אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וְעֵשָׂ֣ו אָחִ֔יו [2] Zaqef

blessing Jacob, [2]

he had just gone out, [3]
Jacob [2]
 
from the presence of [2]
Isaac his father; [1]
 
Esau his brother, [2]
he came in [2]
from his hunting. [1]
31 וַיַּ֤עַשׂ גַּם־הוּא֙ [3] Pashta
מַטְעַמִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּבֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha
לְאָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאָבִ֗יו [3] Revi'i
יָקֻ֤ם אָבִי֙ [3] Pashta
וְיֹאכַל֙ [3] Pashta
מִצֵּ֣יד בְּנ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
בַּעֲבֻ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
תְּבָרְכַ֥נִּי נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ [1] Silluq

and he brought it [2]
to his father; [1]
 
and he said to his father, [3]
“Let my father arise, [3]
and let him eat [3]
of his son’s wild game, [2]
 
so that [2]
your soul may bless me.” [1]
32 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֛וֹ [3] Tevir

מִי־אָ֑תָּה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG

בִּנְךָ֥ בְכֹֽרְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
עֵשָֽׂו׃ [1] Silluq

Isaac his father, [2]
“Who are you?” [1]
 
and he said, [2]
 
“I [3]
am your son, your firstborn, [2]

33 וַיֶּחֱרַ֨ד יִצְחָ֣ק חֲרָדָה֮ [3] Zarqa
גְּדֹלָ֣ה עַד־מְאֹד֒ [2] Segol
 
וַיֹּ֡אמֶר [4] Pazer
מִֽי־אֵפ֡וֹא [4] Pazer
ה֣וּא הַצָּֽד־צַ֩יִד֩ וַיָּ֨בֵא לִ֜י [4] Geresh
וָאֹכַ֥ל מִכֹּ֛ל [3] Tevir
 
בְּטֶ֥רֶם תָּב֖וֹא [2] Tip'cha
 
וָאֲבָרְכֵ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
גַּם־בָּר֖וּךְ [2] Tip'cha
יִהְיֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq

very greatly, [2]
 
and he said, [4]
“Who then, [4]
is he who hunted wild game and he brought it to me [4]
and I ate of it all, [3]
 
before you came, [2]
 
and I blessed him? [1]
 
And blessed [2]
he will be.” [1]
34 כִּשְׁמֹ֤עַ עֵשָׂו֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֣י אָבִ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּצְעַ֣ק צְעָקָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
גְּדֹלָ֥ה וּמָרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עַד־מְאֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאָבִ֔יו [2] Zaqef
בָּרְכֵ֥נִי גַם־אָ֖נִי [2] Tip'cha
אָבִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

the words of his father, [2]
 
he cried with a cry [2]
great and bitter [2]
exceedingly; [1]
 
and he said to his father, [2]
“Bless me, even me also [2]
my father.” [1]
35 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
בָּ֥א אָחִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
בְּמִרְמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּקַּ֖ח [2] Tip'cha
בִּרְכָתֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

“Your brother came [2]
with deceit; [1]
 
and he has taken away [2]
your blessing.” [1]
36 וַיֹּ֡אמֶר [4] Pazer
הֲכִי֩ קָרָ֨א שְׁמ֜וֹ [4] Geresh
יַעֲקֹ֗ב [3] Revi'i
 
וַֽיַּעְקְבֵ֙נִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
זֶ֣ה פַעֲמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
אֶת־בְּכֹרָתִ֣י לָקָ֔ח [2] Zaqef
וְהִנֵּ֥ה עַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לָקַ֣ח בִּרְכָתִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּאמַ֕ר [2] ZaqefG
הֲלֹא־אָצַ֥לְתָּ לִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
בְּרָכָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

“Isn’t he rightly named [4]
Jacob? [3]
 
For he has supplanted me [3 3]
these two times. [2]
 
My birthright he took, [2]
and see now [2]
he has taken my blessing.” [1]

“Haven’t you reserved for me [2]
a blessing?” [1]
37 וַיַּ֨עַן יִצְחָ֜ק [4] Geresh

שַׂמְתִּ֥יו לָךְ֙ [3] Pashta
 
וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֶחָ֗יו [3] Revi'i
נָתַ֤תִּי לוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
לַעֲבָדִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְדָגָ֥ן וְתִירֹ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
סְמַכְתִּ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וּלְכָ֣ה אֵפ֔וֹא [2] Zaqef
מָ֥ה אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בְּנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

“Behold, lord [4]
I have made him over you, [3]
 
and all his brothers [3]
I have given to him [3]
for servants, [2]
 
and with grain and new wine [2]
I have sustained him; [1]
 
and for you then, [2]
what will I do [2]
my son?” [1]

הַֽבְרָכָ֨ה אַחַ֤ת הִֽוא־לְךָ֙ [3] Pashta

“Do you have just one blessing [3]
my father? [2]
 
Bless me, even me also, [2]
my father.” [1]
 
And Esau lifted up [3]
his voice, [2]
and he wept. [1]

יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
הִנֵּ֞ה [4] Gershayim
מִשְׁמַנֵּ֤י הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ [3 3] Pashta
יִהְיֶ֣ה מֽוֹשָׁבֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וּמִטַּ֥ל הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
מֵעָֽל׃ [1] Silluq

Isaac his father, [2]
and he said to him; [1]
 
“Behold [4]
away from the fatness of the earth, [3 3]
will be your dwelling, [2]
 
and away from the dew of the heavens [2]
from above. [1]
40 וְעַל־חַרְבְּךָ֣ תִֽחְיֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
וְאֶת־אָחִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
תַּעֲבֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָיָה֙ [3] Pashta
כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר תָּרִ֔יד [2] Zaqef
 
וּפָרַקְתָּ֥ עֻלּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מֵעַ֥ל צַוָּארֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 3 2 40 And by your sword you will live, [2]
and your brother [2]
you will serve; [1]
 
and it will happen [3]
when you are restless, [2]
 
you will shake off his yoke [2]
from your neck.” [1]
41 וַיִּשְׂטֹ֤ם עֵשָׂו֙ [3] Pashta
אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
עַ֨ל־הַבְּרָכָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּרְכ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר עֵשָׂ֜ו [4] Geresh
בְּלִבּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
 
יִקְרְבוּ֙ [3] Pashta
יְמֵי֙ [3] Pashta
אֵ֣בֶל אָבִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְאַֽהַרְגָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־יַעֲקֹ֥ב אָחִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

because of the blessing [2]
with which he had blessed him, [2]

and Esau said [4]
in his heart, [3]
 
“They are drawing near, [3]
the days [3]
of mourning for my father, [2]
 
then I will kill [2]
Jacob my brother.” [1]
42 וַיֻּגַּ֣ד לְרִבְקָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֥י עֵשָׂ֖ו [2] Tip'cha
בְּנָ֣הּ הַגָּדֹ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וַתִּשְׁלַ֞ח [4] Gershayim
וַתִּקְרָ֤א לְיַעֲקֹב֙ [3] Pashta
בְּנָ֣הּ הַקָּטָ֔ן [2] Zaqef
 
וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
הִנֵּה֙ [3] Pashta
עֵשָׂ֣ו אָחִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
מִתְנַחֵ֥ם לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
לְהׇרְגֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

the words of Esau [2]
her elder son; [1]
 
and she sent [4]
and she called Jacob [3]
her younger son, [2]
 
and she said to him, [2]
 
“Behold [3]
your brother Esau [2]
 
comforts himself about you [2]
by planning to kill you. [1]
43 וְעַתָּ֥ה בְנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וְק֧וּם בְּרַח־לְךָ֛ [3] Tevir
אֶל־לָבָ֥ן אָחִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
חָרָֽנָה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 43 Now therefore my son, [2]
listen to my voice; [1]
 
and arise, flee [3]
to Laban my brother, [2]
to Haran. [1]
44 וְיָשַׁבְתָּ֥ עִמּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
יָמִ֣ים אֲחָדִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
עַ֥ד אֲשֶׁר־תָּשׁ֖וּב [2] Tip'cha
חֲמַ֥ת אָחִֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 44 And you will stay with him [2]
a few days; [1]
 
until it turns away, [2]
the fury of your brother, [1]
45 עַד־שׁ֨וּב אַף־אָחִ֜יךָ [4] Geresh
מִמְּךָ֗ [3] Revi'i
 
וְשָׁכַח֙ [3] Pashta
אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֣יתָ לּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְשָׁלַחְתִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
וּלְקַחְתִּ֣יךָ מִשָּׁ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
לָמָ֥ה אֶשְׁכַּ֛ל [3] Tevir
גַּם־שְׁנֵיכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq

from you, [3]
 
and he forgets [3]
what you have done to him. [2]
 
Then I will send [2]
and I will get you from there. [1]
 
Why should I be bereaved [3]
of you both [2]

קַ֣צְתִּי בְחַיַּ֔י [2] Zaqef
מִפְּנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
בְּנ֣וֹת חֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
אִם־לֹקֵ֣חַ יַ֠עֲקֹ֠ב [4 4] TelishaG
אִשָּׁ֨ה מִבְּנֽוֹת־חֵ֤ת כָּאֵ֙לֶּה֙ [3 3] Pashta
מִבְּנ֣וֹת הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
לָ֥מָּה לִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
חַיִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq

“I am weary of my life [2]
because of [2]
the daughters of Heth. [1]
 
If Jacob takes [4 4]
a wife of the daughters of Heth such as these, [3 3]
of the daughters of the land, [2]
 
what good to me [2]
is my life?” [1]
