1 וַֽיְהִי֙ [3] Pashta כִּֽי־זָקֵ֣ן יִצְחָ֔ק [2] Zaqef מֵרְאֹ֑ת [1] Etnachta אֶת־עֵשָׂ֣ו ׀ [4] Legarmeh בְּנ֣וֹ הַגָּדֹ֗ל [3] Revi'i בְּנִ֔י [2] Zaqef הִנֵּֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq |
1 When [3] Isaac was old, [2] for seeing; [1] Esau [4] his elder son, [3] “My son?” [2] “Here I am.” [1] |

2 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG הִנֵּה־נָ֖א [2] Tip'cha זָקַ֑נְתִּי [1] Etnachta י֥וֹם מוֹתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And he said, [2] “See now, [2] I am old. [1] the day of my death. [1] |

3 וְעַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta שָׂא־נָ֣א כֵלֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef וְקַשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef *צידה **צָֽיִד׃ [1] Silluq |
3 Now therefore [3] please take your weapons, [2] and your bow; [1] to the field, [2] wild game. [1] |

4 וַעֲשֵׂה־לִ֨י מַטְעַמִּ֜ים [4] Geresh כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהַ֛בְתִּי [3] Tevir וְהָבִ֥יאָה לִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha וְאֹכֵ֑לָה [1] Etnachta תְּבָרֶכְךָ֥ נַפְשִׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha בְּטֶ֥רֶם אָמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq |
4 And prepare for me savory food [4] such as I love, [3] and bring it to me, [2] that I may eat; [1] my soul may bless you [2] before I die.” [1] |

5 וְרִבְקָ֣ה שֹׁמַ֔עַת [2] Zaqef בְּדַבֵּ֣ר יִצְחָ֔ק [2] Zaqef אֶל־עֵשָׂ֖ו [2] Tip'cha בְּנ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef לְהָבִֽיא׃ [1] Silluq |
5 And Rebekah was listening [2] when Isaac spoke [2] to Esau [2] his son; [1] to the field, [2] to bring it. [1] |

6 And Rebekah, [3] she spoke [2] saying; [1] your father [2] to Esau your brother, [2] saying, [1] |

7 הָבִ֨יאָה לִּ֥י צַ֛יִד [3] Tevir וַעֲשֵׂה־לִ֥י מַטְעַמִּ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וְאֹכֵ֑לָה [1] Etnachta לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
7 ‘Bring me wild game [3] and prepare for me savory food, [2] that I may eat; [1] before the LORD [2] before my death.’ [1] |

8 וְעַתָּ֥ה בְנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֑י [1] Etnachta מְצַוָּ֥ה אֹתָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
8 Now therefore my son, [2] listen to my voice; [1] am commanding you. [1] |

9 לֶךְ־נָא֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־הַצֹּ֔אן [2] Zaqef שְׁנֵ֛י [3] Tevir גְּדָיֵ֥י עִזִּ֖ים [2] Tip'cha טֹבִ֑ים [1] Etnachta לְאָבִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהֵֽב׃ [1] Silluq |
9 Go now [3] to the flock [2] two [3] young goats, [2] good; [1] for your father [2] such as he loves. [1] |

10 וְהֵבֵאתָ֥ לְאָבִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha וְאָכָ֑ל [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְבָרֶכְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
10 And you shall bring it to your father [2] that he may eat; [1] he may bless you [2] before his death.” [1] |

11 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef אֶל־רִבְקָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אִמּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta אִ֣ישׁ שָׂעִ֔ר [2] Zaqef אִ֥ישׁ חָלָֽק׃ [1] Silluq |
11 And Jacob said [2] to Rebekah [2] his mother; [1] is a hairy man, [2] am a smooth man. [1] |

12 אוּלַ֤י יְמֻשֵּׁ֙נִי֙ [3 3] Pashta אָבִ֔י [2] Zaqef כִּמְתַעְתֵּ֑עַ [1] Etnachta קְלָלָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha וְלֹ֥א בְרָכָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
12 What if he feels me, [3 3] my father, [2] as a deceiver; [1] a curse, [2] and not a blessing?” [1] |

13 וַתֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ [3] Pashta אִמּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef בְּנִ֑י [1] Etnachta שְׁמַ֥ע בְּקֹלִ֖י [2] Tip'cha וְלֵ֥ךְ קַֽח־לִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
13 And she said to him, [3] his mother, [2] my son; [1] listen to my voice, [2] and go get them for me.” [1] |

14 וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta וַיִּקַּ֔ח [2] Zaqef לְאִמּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta מַטְעַמִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef אָהֵ֥ב אָבִֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
14 And he went [3 3] and he got them, [2] to his mother; [1] savory food [2] his father loved. [1] |

15 וַתִּקַּ֣ח רִ֠בְקָ֠ה [4 4] TelishaG אֶת־בִּגְדֵ֨י עֵשָׂ֜ו [4] Geresh בְּנָ֤הּ הַגָּדֹל֙ [3] Pashta הַחֲמֻדֹ֔ת [2] Zaqef בַּבָּ֑יִת [1] Etnachta בְּנָ֥הּ הַקָּטָֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
15 And Rebekah took [4 4] the clothes of Esau [4] her elder son, [3] the good ones, [2] in the house; [1] her younger son. [1] |

16 וְאֵ֗ת [3] Revi'i עֹרֹת֙ [3] Pashta גְּדָיֵ֣י הָֽעִזִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef עַל־יָדָ֑יו [1] Etnachta חֶלְקַ֥ת צַוָּארָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
16 And [3] the skins [3] of the young goats, [2] on his hands; [1] the smooth of his neck. [1] |

17 וַתִּתֵּ֧ן אֶת־הַמַּטְעַמִּ֛ים [3] Tevir וְאֶת־הַלֶּ֖חֶם [2] Tip'cha אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑תָה [1] Etnachta יַעֲקֹ֥ב בְּנָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
17 And she put the savory food [3] and the bread [2] which she had prepared; [1] of her son Jacob. [1] |

18 וַיָּבֹ֥א אֶל־אָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אָבִ֑י [1] Etnachta מִ֥י אַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בְּנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
18 And he went to his father [2] and he said, “My father?” [1] Who are you, [2] my son?” [1] |

19 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֜ב [4] Geresh אֶל־אָבִ֗יו [3] Revi'i עֵשָׂ֣ו בְּכֹרֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ [2] Tip'cha אֵלָ֑י [1] Etnachta וְאׇכְלָה֙ [3] Pashta מִצֵּידִ֔י [2] Zaqef תְּבָרְכַ֥נִּי נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
19 And Jacob said [4] to his father, [3] am Esau your firstborn. [2] just as you said [2] to me. [1] and eat [3] of my wild game, [2] your soul may bless me.” [1] |

20 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִצְחָק֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־בְּנ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef מִהַ֥רְתָּ לִמְצֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha בְּנִ֑י [1] Etnachta יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha לְפָנָֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
20 And Isaac said [3] to his son, [2] that you have found it so quickly, [2] my son?” [1] the LORD your God, [2] for me.” [1] |

21 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִצְחָק֙ [3] Pashta אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef בְּנִ֑י [1] Etnachta בְּנִ֥י עֵשָׂ֖ו [2] Tip'cha אִם־לֹֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
21 And Isaac said [3] to Jacob, [2] my son; [1] my son Esau [2] or not.” [1] |

22 וַיִּגַּ֧שׁ יַעֲקֹ֛ב [3] Tevir אֶל־יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha וַיְמֻשֵּׁ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta הַקֹּל֙ [3] Pashta ק֣וֹל יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef יְדֵ֥י עֵשָֽׂו׃ [1] Silluq |
22 And Jacob came near [3] to Isaac his father, [2] and he felt him; [1] “The voice [3] is the voice of Jacob, [2] are the hands of Esau.” [1] |

23 וְלֹ֣א הִכִּיר֔וֹ [2] Zaqef כִּידֵ֛י [3] Tevir עֵשָׂ֥ו אָחִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha שְׂעִרֹ֑ת [1] Etnachta |
23 And he didn’t recognize him, [2] like the hands [3] of Esau his brother, [2] were hairy; [1] |

24 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG אַתָּ֥ה זֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בְּנִ֣י עֵשָׂ֑ו [1] Etnachta אָֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq |
24 And he said, [2] “Are you really [2] my son Esau?” [1] “I am.” [1] |

25 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר [3] Revi'i הַגִּ֤שָׁה לִּי֙ [3] Pashta וְאֹֽכְלָה֙ [3] Pashta מִצֵּ֣יד בְּנִ֔י [2] Zaqef נַפְשִׁ֑י [1] Etnachta וַיֹּאכַ֔ל [2] Zaqef וַיֵּֽשְׁתְּ׃ [1] Silluq |
25 And he said, [3] “Bring it near to me, [3] so I can eat [3] of my son’s wild game, [2] my soul.” [1] and he ate, [2] and he drank. [1] |

26 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha יִצְחָ֣ק אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta בְּנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
26 And he said to him, [2] his father Isaac; [1] my son.” [1] |
|||
27 וַיִּגַּשׁ֙ [3] Pashta וַיִּשַּׁק־ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef אֶת־רֵ֥יחַ בְּגָדָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta רְאֵה֙ [3] Pashta רֵ֣יחַ בְּנִ֔י [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּרְכ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
27 And he came near [3] and he kissed him, [2] the smell of his clothing, [2] and he blessed him; [1] “Behold [3] the smell of my son [2] which he has blessed, [2] the LORD. [1] |

28 וְיִֽתֶּן־לְךָ֙ [3] Pashta הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef הָאָ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta וְתִירֹֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
28 And may he give you, [3] God, [2] of the heavens, [2] of the earth; [1] and new wine. [1] |

29 יַֽעַבְד֣וּךָ עַמִּ֗ים [3] Revi'i *וישתחו **וְיִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֤וּ לְךָ֙ [3] Pashta לְאֻמִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef לְאַחֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef בְּנֵ֣י אִמֶּ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta וּֽמְבָרְכֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha בָּרֽוּךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
29 May peoples serve you, [3] and may they bow down to you, [3] nations. [2] over your brothers, [2] the sons of your mother. [1] and those who bless you [2] be blessed.” [1] |

30 וַיְהִ֗י [3] Revi'i כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר כִּלָּ֣ה יִצְחָק֮ [3] Zarqa לְבָרֵ֣ךְ אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹב֒ [2] Segol אַ֣ךְ יָצֹ֤א יָצָא֙ [3] Pashta יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef יִצְחָ֣ק אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta בָּ֖א [2] Tip'cha מִצֵּידֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
30 And it happened, [3] when Isaac had finished [3] blessing Jacob, [2] he had just gone out, [3] Jacob [2] Isaac his father; [1] he came in [2] from his hunting. [1] |

31 וַיַּ֤עַשׂ גַּם־הוּא֙ [3] Pashta מַטְעַמִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef לְאָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta יָקֻ֤ם אָבִי֙ [3] Pashta וְיֹאכַל֙ [3] Pashta מִצֵּ֣יד בְּנ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef תְּבָרְכַ֥נִּי נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
31 And he also prepared [3] savory food, [2] to his father; [1] “Let my father arise, [3] and let him eat [3] of his son’s wild game, [2] your soul may bless me.” [1] |

32 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֛וֹ [3] Tevir יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha מִי־אָ֑תָּה [1] Etnachta בִּנְךָ֥ בְכֹֽרְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha עֵשָֽׂו׃ [1] Silluq |
32 And he said to him, [3] Isaac his father, [2] “Who are you?” [1] am your son, your firstborn, [2] Esau.” [1] |

33 וַיֶּחֱרַ֨ד יִצְחָ֣ק חֲרָדָה֮ [3] Zarqa גְּדֹלָ֣ה עַד־מְאֹד֒ [2] Segol מִֽי־אֵפ֡וֹא [4] Pazer ה֣וּא הַצָּֽד־צַ֩יִד֩ וַיָּ֨בֵא לִ֜י [4] Geresh וָאֹכַ֥ל מִכֹּ֛ל [3] Tevir יִהְיֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
33 And Isaac trembled [3] very greatly, [2] “Who then, [4] is he who hunted wild game and he brought it to me [4] and I ate of it all, [3] he will be.” [1] |

34 כִּשְׁמֹ֤עַ עֵשָׂו֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֣י אָבִ֔יו [2] Zaqef גְּדֹלָ֥ה וּמָרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha עַד־מְאֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta בָּרְכֵ֥נִי גַם־אָ֖נִי [2] Tip'cha אָבִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
34 When Esau heard [3] the words of his father, [2] great and bitter [2] exceedingly; [1] “Bless me, even me also [2] my father.” [1] |

35 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG בָּ֥א אָחִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha בְּמִרְמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta בִּרְכָתֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
35 And he said, [2] “Your brother came [2] with deceit; [1] your blessing.” [1] |

36 וַיֹּ֡אמֶר [4] Pazer הֲכִי֩ קָרָ֨א שְׁמ֜וֹ [4] Geresh יַעֲקֹ֗ב [3] Revi'i זֶ֣ה פַעֲמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef וְהִנֵּ֥ה עַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לָקַ֣ח בִּרְכָתִ֑י [1] Etnachta הֲלֹא־אָצַ֥לְתָּ לִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha בְּרָכָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
36 And he said, [4] “Isn’t he rightly named [4] Jacob? [3] these two times. [2] and see now [2] he has taken my blessing.” [1] “Haven’t you reserved for me [2] a blessing?” [1] |

37 וַיַּ֨עַן יִצְחָ֜ק [4] Geresh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְעֵשָׂ֗ו [3] Revi'i שַׂמְתִּ֥יו לָךְ֙ [3] Pashta נָתַ֤תִּי לוֹ֙ [3] Pashta לַעֲבָדִ֔ים [2] Zaqef סְמַכְתִּ֑יו [1] Etnachta מָ֥ה אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בְּנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
37 And Isaac answered [4] and he said to Esau, [3] I have made him over you, [3] I have given to him [3] for servants, [2] I have sustained him; [1] what will I do [2] my son?” [1] |

38 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר עֵשָׂ֜ו [4] Geresh אֶל־אָבִ֗יו [3] Revi'i אָבִ֔י [2] Zaqef אָבִ֑י [1] Etnachta קֹל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha וַיֵּֽבְךְּ׃ [1] Silluq |
38 And Esau said [4] to his father, [3] my father? [2] my father.” [1] his voice, [2] and he wept. [1] |

39 וַיַּ֛עַן [3] Tevir יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֑יו [1] Etnachta מִשְׁמַנֵּ֤י הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ [3 3] Pashta יִהְיֶ֣ה מֽוֹשָׁבֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef מֵעָֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
39 And he answered, [3] Isaac his father, [2] and he said to him; [1] away from the fatness of the earth, [3 3] will be your dwelling, [2] from above. [1] |

40 וְעַל־חַרְבְּךָ֣ תִֽחְיֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְאֶת־אָחִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha תַּעֲבֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר תָּרִ֔יד [2] Zaqef מֵעַ֥ל צַוָּארֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
40 And by your sword you will live, [2] and your brother [2] you will serve; [1] when you are restless, [2] from your neck.” [1] |

41 וַיִּשְׂטֹ֤ם עֵשָׂו֙ [3] Pashta אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּרְכ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha אָבִ֑יו [1] Etnachta בְּלִבּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i יְמֵי֙ [3] Pashta אֵ֣בֶל אָבִ֔י [2] Zaqef אֶת־יַעֲקֹ֥ב אָחִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
41 And Esau hated [3] Jacob [2] with which he had blessed him, [2] his father; [1] in his heart, [3] the days [3] of mourning for my father, [2] Jacob my brother.” [1] |

42 וַיֻּגַּ֣ד לְרִבְקָ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֥י עֵשָׂ֖ו [2] Tip'cha בְּנָ֣הּ הַגָּדֹ֑ל [1] Etnachta וַתִּקְרָ֤א לְיַעֲקֹב֙ [3] Pashta בְּנָ֣הּ הַקָּטָ֔ן [2] Zaqef עֵשָׂ֣ו אָחִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef לְהׇרְגֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
42 And it was told to Rebekah, [2] the words of Esau [2] her elder son; [1] and she called Jacob [3] her younger son, [2] your brother Esau [2] by planning to kill you. [1] |

43 וְעַתָּ֥ה בְנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֑י [1] Etnachta אֶל־לָבָ֥ן אָחִ֖י [2] Tip'cha חָרָֽנָה׃ [1] Silluq |
43 Now therefore my son, [2] listen to my voice; [1] to Laban my brother, [2] to Haran. [1] |

44 וְיָשַׁבְתָּ֥ עִמּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha יָמִ֣ים אֲחָדִ֑ים [1] Etnachta חֲמַ֥ת אָחִֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
44 And you will stay with him [2] a few days; [1] the fury of your brother, [1] |

45 עַד־שׁ֨וּב אַף־אָחִ֜יךָ [4] Geresh מִמְּךָ֗ [3] Revi'i אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֣יתָ לּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef וּלְקַחְתִּ֣יךָ מִשָּׁ֑ם [1] Etnachta גַּם־שְׁנֵיכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq |
45 until the anger of your brother turns away [4] from you, [3] what you have done to him. [2] and I will get you from there. [1] of you both [2] in one day?” [1] |

46 וַתֹּ֤אמֶר רִבְקָה֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־יִצְחָ֔ק [2] Zaqef מִפְּנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha בְּנ֣וֹת חֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta אִשָּׁ֨ה מִבְּנֽוֹת־חֵ֤ת כָּאֵ֙לֶּה֙ [3 3] Pashta מִבְּנ֣וֹת הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef חַיִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
46 And Rebekah said [3] to Isaac, [2] because of [2] the daughters of Heth. [1] a wife of the daughters of Heth such as these, [3 3] of the daughters of the land, [2] is my life?” [1] |
