1 וַיְכֻלּ֛וּ [3] Tevir
הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם וְהָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
וְכׇל־צְבָאָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 1 And they were finished, [3]
the heavens and the earth, [2]
and all their vast array. [1]
2 וַיְכַ֤ל אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
מְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּשְׁבֹּת֙ [3] Pashta
בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
מִכׇּל־מְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה׃ [1] Silluq

and he rested [3]

from all his work [2]

3 וַיְבָ֤רֶךְ אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־י֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וַיְקַדֵּ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
אֹת֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֣י ב֤וֹ שָׁבַת֙ [3] Pashta
מִכׇּל־מְלַאכְתּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁר־בָּרָ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ [1] Silluq

and he made holy [2]

because on it he rested [3]
from all his work [2]
 
which God had created [2]

בְּהִבָּֽרְאָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
בְּי֗וֹם [3] Revi'i
עֲשׂ֛וֹת [3] Tevir
יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֶ֥רֶץ וְשָׁמָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

the earth and the heavens. [1]
5 וְכֹ֣ל ׀ [4] Legarmeh
שִׂ֣יחַ הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
טֶ֚רֶם [3] Yetiv
יִֽהְיֶ֣ה בָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
וְכׇל־עֵ֥שֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
טֶ֣רֶם יִצְמָ֑ח [1] Etnachta
 
כִּי֩ לֹ֨א הִמְטִ֜יר [4] Geresh
יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
וְאָדָ֣ם אַ֔יִן [2] Zaqef
לַֽעֲבֹ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

were they on the earth, [2]
 
and all the herbs of the field [2]
not yet were they sprouting; [1]
 
for he had not caused it to rain, [4]
the LORD God, [3]
on the earth, [2]
 
and there was not a man [2]
to till [2]
the ground, [1]
6 וְאֵ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
יַֽעֲלֶ֣ה מִן־הָאָ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהִשְׁקָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֶֽת־כׇּל־פְּנֵ֥י הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 6 but a mist, [2]
it came up from the earth; [1]
 
and it watered [2]
all the surface of the ground. [1]
7 וַיִּ֩יצֶר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים [4] Geresh
אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
עָפָר֙ [3] Pashta
מִן־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּפַּ֥ח בְּאַפָּ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
נִשְׁמַ֣ת חַיִּ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וַֽיְהִ֥י הָֽאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לְנֶ֥פֶשׁ חַיָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq

the man [3]
 
of dust [3]
from the ground, [2]
 
and he breathed into his nostrils [2]
the breath of life; [1]
 
and the man became [2]
a living creature. [1]
8 וַיִּטַּ֞ע [4] Gershayim
יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים [3] Tevir
גַּן־בְּעֵ֖דֶן [2] Tip'cha
מִקֶּ֑דֶם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיָּ֣שֶׂם שָׁ֔ם [2] Zaqef
אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָצָֽר׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD God, [3]
a garden in Eden, [2]
in the east; [1]
 
and there he put [2]
the man [2]
whom he had formed. [1]
9 וַיַּצְמַ֞ח [4] Gershayim
יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
מִן־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
כׇּל־עֵ֛ץ [3] Tevir
נֶחְמָ֥ד לְמַרְאֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וְט֣וֹב לְמַאֲכָ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וְעֵ֤ץ הַֽחַיִּים֙ [3] Pashta
בְּת֣וֹךְ הַגָּ֔ן [2] Zaqef
 
וְעֵ֕ץ [2] ZaqefG
הַדַּ֖עַת [2] Tip'cha
ט֥וֹב וָרָֽע׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD God, [3]
out of the ground, [2]
 
every tree [3]
pleasant to the sight [2]
and good for food; [1]
 
including the tree of life [3]
in the middle of the garden, [2]
 
and the tree [2]
of the knowledge [2]
of good and evil. [1]
10 וְנָהָר֙ [3] Pashta
יֹצֵ֣א מֵעֵ֔דֶן [2] Zaqef
 
לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הַגָּ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
וּמִשָּׁם֙ [3] Pashta
יִפָּרֵ֔ד [2] Zaqef
 
וְהָיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה רָאשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq

went out from Eden [2]
 
to water [2]
the garden; [1]
 
and from there [3]
it was parted, [2]
 
and it became [2]
the source of four rivers. [1]
11 שֵׁ֥ם הָֽאֶחָ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
פִּישׁ֑וֹן [1] Etnachta
 
ה֣וּא הַסֹּבֵ֗ב [3] Revi'i
אֵ֚ת [3] Yetiv
כׇּל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַֽחֲוִילָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁר־שָׁ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
הַזָּהָֽב׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 3 2 11 The name of the first [2]
is Pishon. [1]
 
It is the one which flows through [3]
the [3]
whole land of Havilah, [2]
 
where there is [2]
gold, [1]
12 וּֽזְהַ֛ב [3] Tevir
הָאָ֥רֶץ הַהִ֖וא [2] Tip'cha
ט֑וֹב [1] Etnachta
 
שָׁ֥ם הַבְּדֹ֖לַח [2] Tip'cha
וְאֶ֥בֶן הַשֹּֽׁהַם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 12 and the gold [3]
of that land [2]
is good; [1]
 
there is Bdellium, [2]
and onyx stone. [1]
13 וְשֵֽׁם־הַנָּהָ֥ר הַשֵּׁנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
גִּיח֑וֹן [1] Etnachta
 
ה֣וּא הַסּוֹבֵ֔ב [2] Zaqef
אֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־אֶ֥רֶץ כּֽוּשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 13 And the name of the second river [2]
is Gihon. [1]
 
It is the one which flows through [2]
the [2]
whole land of Cush. [1]
14 וְשֵׁ֨ם הַנָּהָ֤ר הַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ [3] Pashta
חִדֶּ֔קֶל [2] Zaqef
 
ה֥וּא הַֽהֹלֵ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
קִדְמַ֣ת אַשּׁ֑וּר [1] Etnachta
 
וְהַנָּהָ֥ר הָֽרְבִיעִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
ה֥וּא פְרָֽת׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 14 And the name of the third river [3]
is Hiddekel. [2]
 
It is the one which flows [2]
on the east side of Assyria. [1]
 
And the fourth river, [2]
it is the Euphrates. [1]
15 וַיִּקַּ֛ח [3] Tevir
יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּנִּחֵ֣הוּ בְגַן־עֵ֔דֶן [2] Zaqef
לְעׇבְדָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
וּלְשׇׁמְרָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD God, [2]
the man; [1]
 
and he put him in the garden of Eden, [2]
to cultivate it [2]
and to keep it. [1]
16 וַיְצַו֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
עַל־הָֽאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
מִכֹּ֥ל עֵֽץ־הַגָּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
אָכֹ֥ל תֹּאכֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 16 And he commanded, [3]
the LORD God [2]
 
to the man, [2]
saying; [1]
 
“From any tree of the garden [2]
you may freely eat, [1]
17 וּמֵעֵ֗ץ [3] Revi'i
הַדַּ֙עַת֙ [3 3] Pashta
ט֣וֹב וָרָ֔ע [2] Zaqef
 
לֹ֥א תֹאכַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
מִמֶּ֑נּוּ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֗י [3] Revi'i
בְּי֛וֹם [3] Tevir
אֲכׇלְךָ֥ מִמֶּ֖נּוּ [2] Tip'cha
מ֥וֹת תָּמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq

of the knowledge [3 3]
of good and evil, [2]
 
you must not eat [2]
from it; [1]
 
for [3]
in the day [3]
you eat from it, [2]
you will surely die.” [1]
18 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
לֹא־ט֛וֹב [3] Tevir
הֱי֥וֹת הָֽאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לְבַדּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־לּ֥וֹ עֵ֖זֶר [2] Tip'cha
כְּנֶגְדּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD God, [2]
 
“It is not good [3]
for the man to be [2]
by himself. [1]
 
I will make him a helper [2]
comparable to him.” [1]
19 וַיִּ֩צֶר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים [4] Geresh
מִן־הָֽאֲדָמָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
כׇּל־חַיַּ֤ת הַשָּׂדֶה֙ [3] Pashta
וְאֵת֙ [3] Pashta
כׇּל־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּבֵא֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הָ֣אָדָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
לִרְא֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
מַה־יִּקְרָא־ל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִקְרָא־ל֧וֹ הָֽאָדָ֛ם [3] Tevir
נֶ֥פֶשׁ חַיָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
ה֥וּא שְׁמֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

out of the ground [3]
 
every animal of the field, [3]
and [3]
every bird of the sky, [2]
 
and he brought them [3]
to the man [2]
 
to see [2]
what he would call them; [1]
 
and whatever the man called it, [3]
each living creature, [2]
that was its name. [1]
20 וַיִּקְרָ֨א הָֽאָדָ֜ם [4] Geresh

לְכׇל־הַבְּהֵמָה֙ [3] Pashta
וּלְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
וּלְכֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וּלְאָדָ֕ם [2] ZaqefG
לֹֽא־מָצָ֥א עֵ֖זֶר [2] Tip'cha
כְּנֶגְדּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

names [3]
 
to all the livestock [3]
and to the birds of the sky, [2]
 
and to every [2]
animal of the field; [1]
 
but for man [2]
he did not find a helper [2]
comparable to him. [1]
21 וַיַּפֵּל֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֧ים ׀ תַּרְדֵּמָ֛ה [3] Tevir
עַל־הָאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
וַיִּישָׁ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּקַּ֗ח [3] Revi'i
אַחַת֙ [3] Pashta
מִצַּלְעֹתָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּסְגֹּ֥ר בָּשָׂ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
תַּחְתֶּֽנָּה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 3 2 21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall [3]
on the man, [2]
and he fell asleep; [1]
 
and he took [3]
one [3]
of his ribs, [2]
 
and he closed up the flesh [2]
in its place. [1]
22 וַיִּ֩בֶן֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֧ים ׀ אֶֽת־הַצֵּלָ֛ע [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־לָקַ֥ח מִן־הָֽאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לְאִשָּׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיְבִאֶ֖הָ [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־הָֽאָדָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 22 And the LORD God made from the rib [3]
which he had taken from the man, [2]
a woman; [1]
 
and he brought her [2]
to the man. [1]
23 וַיֹּ֘אמֶר֮ [3 3] Zarqa
הָֽאָדָם֒ [2] Segol
 
זֹ֣את הַפַּ֗עַם [3] Revi'i
עֶ֚צֶם [3] Yetiv
מֵֽעֲצָמַ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וּבָשָׂ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
מִבְּשָׂרִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
לְזֹאת֙ [3] Pashta
יִקָּרֵ֣א אִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י מֵאִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha
לֻֽקְחָה־זֹּֽאת׃ [1] Silluq

the man, [2]
 
“This is now [3]
bone [3]
of my bones, [2]
 
and flesh [2]
of my flesh. [1]
 
This one [3]
will be called ‘woman,’ [2]
 
because out of man [2]
she was taken, this one.” [1]
24 עַל־כֵּן֙ [3] Pashta
יַֽעֲזׇב־אִ֔ישׁ [2] Zaqef
 
אֶת־אָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וְאֶת־אִמּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְדָבַ֣ק בְּאִשְׁתּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
וְהָי֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
לְבָשָׂ֥ר אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq

a man leaves [2]
 
his father [2]
and his mother; [1]
 
and he joins with his wife, [2]
and they become [2]
one flesh. [1]
25 וַיִּֽהְי֤וּ שְׁנֵיהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
עֲרוּמִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
הָֽאָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
וְאִשְׁתּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha
יִתְבֹּשָֽׁשׁוּ׃ [1] Silluq

naked, [2]
 
the man [2]
and his wife; [1]
 
and not [2]
ashamed were they. [1]
