1 וְהַנָּחָשׁ֙ [3] Pashta הָיָ֣ה עָר֔וּם [2] Zaqef חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֑ים [1] Etnachta אֶל־הָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef כִּֽי־אָמַ֣ר אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef מִכֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha עֵ֥ץ הַגָּֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Now the serpent, [3] it was shrewd, [2] animal of the field [2] the LORD God; [1] to the woman, [2] did God say, [2] from any [2] tree of the garden’?” [1] |

2 וַתֹּ֥אמֶר הָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֶל־הַנָּחָ֑שׁ [1] Etnachta נֹאכֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And the woman said [2] to the serpent; [1] we may eat, [1] |

3 וּמִפְּרִ֣י הָעֵץ֮ [3] Zarqa אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּתוֹךְ־הַגָּן֒ [2] Segol לֹ֤א תֹֽאכְלוּ֙ [3] Pashta מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef בּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta |
3 but from the fruit of the tree [3] which is in the middle of the garden, [2] ‘You must not eat [3] from it, [2] it; [1] |

4 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הַנָּחָ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha אֶל־הָֽאִשָּׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta תְּמֻתֽוּן׃ [1] Silluq |
4 And the serpent said [2] to the woman; [1] will you die, [1] |

5 כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv יֹדֵ֣עַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef בְּיוֹם֙ [3] Pashta אֲכׇלְכֶ֣ם מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef עֵֽינֵיכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta כֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef ט֥וֹב וָרָֽע׃ [1] Silluq |
5 for [3] God knows [2] in the day [3] you eat from it, [2] your eyes; [1] like God, [2] good and evil.” [1] |

6 וַתֵּ֣רֶא הָֽאִשָּׁ֡ה [4] Pazer כִּ֣י טוֹב֩ הָעֵ֨ץ לְמַאֲכָ֜ל [4] Geresh וְכִ֧י תַֽאֲוָה־ה֣וּא לָעֵינַ֗יִם [3] Revi'i לְהַשְׂכִּ֔יל [2] Zaqef וַתֹּאכַ֑ל [1] Etnachta עִמָּ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha וַיֹּאכַֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
6 When the woman saw, [4] that the tree was good for food [4] and that it was a delight to the eyes, [3] for gaining wisdom, [2] and she ate; [1] with her, [2] and he ate. [1] |

7 וַתִּפָּקַ֙חְנָה֙ [3 3] Pashta עֵינֵ֣י שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef כִּ֥י עֵֽירֻמִּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha הֵ֑ם [1] Etnachta עֲלֵ֣ה תְאֵנָ֔ה [2] Zaqef חֲגֹרֹֽת׃ [1] Silluq |
7 And they were opened, [3 3] the eyes of both of them, [2] that naked [2] they were; [1] leaves of a fig tree, [2] coverings. [1] |

8 וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֞וּ [4] Gershayim אֶת־ק֨וֹל יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים [3] Tevir מִתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בַּגָּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha לְר֣וּחַ הַיּ֑וֹם [1] Etnachta וְאִשְׁתּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef עֵ֥ץ הַגָּֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And they heard [4] the voice of the LORD God, [3] walking in the garden, [2] in the cool of the day; [1] and his wife [3] the LORD God, [2] the trees of the garden. [1] |

9 וַיִּקְרָ֛א [3] Tevir יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha אֶל־הָֽאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta אַיֶּֽכָּה׃ [1] Silluq |
9 And he called, [3] the LORD God [2] to the man; [1] “Where are you?” [1] |

10 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG אֶת־קֹלְךָ֥ שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי [2] Tip'cha בַּגָּ֑ן [1] Etnachta כִּֽי־עֵירֹ֥ם אָנֹ֖כִי [2] Tip'cha וָאֵחָבֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
10 And he said, [2] “Your voice I heard [2] in the garden; [1] because I was naked, [2] so I hid myself.” [1] |

11 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG הִגִּ֣יד לְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef אָ֑תָּה [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֧ר צִוִּיתִ֛יךָ [3] Tevir לְבִלְתִּ֥י אֲכׇל־מִמֶּ֖נּוּ [2] Tip'cha אָכָֽלְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 And he said, [2] told you [2] you were? [1] that I commanded you [3] not to eat from it, [2] have you eaten?” [1] |

12 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר [2] Tip'cha הָֽאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתַ֣תָּה עִמָּדִ֔י [2] Zaqef נָֽתְנָה־לִּ֥י מִן־הָעֵ֖ץ [2] Tip'cha וָאֹכֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
12 And he said, [2] the man; [1] whom you put with me, [2] she gave to me from the tree, [2] and I ate.” [1] |

13 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים [3] Tevir לָאִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha מַה־זֹּ֣את עָשִׂ֑ית [1] Etnachta הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef וָאֹכֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
13 And the LORD God said [3] to the woman, [2] “What is this you have done?” [1] the woman, [2] and I ate.” [1] |

14 וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֥ים ׀ אֶֽל־הַנָּחָשׁ֮ [3] Zarqa כִּ֣י עָשִׂ֣יתָ זֹּאת֒ [2] Segol מִכׇּל־הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta וְעָפָ֥ר תֹּאכַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha כׇּל־יְמֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 And the LORD God said to the serpent, [3] “Because you have done this, [2] above all the livestock, [2] the animals of the field; [1] and dust you will eat [2] all the days of your life. [1] |

15 וְאֵיבָ֣ה ׀ [4] Legarmeh אָשִׁ֗ית [3] Revi'i וּבֵ֣ין הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef וּבֵ֣ין זַרְעָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta יְשׁוּפְךָ֣ רֹ֔אשׁ [2] Zaqef תְּשׁוּפֶ֥נּוּ עָקֵֽב׃ [1] Silluq ס |
15 And hostility [4] I will put [3] and the woman, [2] and her offspring. [1] he will bruise your head, [2] you will bruise his heel.” [1] § |

16 אֶֽל־הָאִשָּׁ֣ה אָמַ֗ר [3] Revi'i הַרְבָּ֤ה אַרְבֶּה֙ [3] Pashta עִצְּבוֹנֵ֣ךְ וְהֵֽרֹנֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef תֵּֽלְדִ֣י בָנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta תְּשׁ֣וּקָתֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef יִמְשׇׁל־בָּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq ס |
16 To the woman he said, [3] “I will greatly increase [3] your pain in childbirth. [2] you will bear children. [1] your desire, [2] he will rule over you.” [1] § |

17 וּלְאָדָ֣ם אָמַ֗ר [3] Revi'i כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֘עְתָּ֮ [3 3] Zarqa לְק֣וֹל אִשְׁתֶּ֒ךָ֒ [2 2] Segol מִן־הָעֵ֔ץ [2] Zaqef לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef מִמֶּ֑נּוּ [1] Etnachta בַּֽעֲבוּרֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef תֹּֽאכְלֶ֔נָּה [2] Zaqef יְמֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
17 And to Adam he said, [3] “Because you listened [3 3] to your wife’s voice, [2 2] from the tree [2] saying, [2] from it’ - [1] because of you. [2] you will eat from it [2] the days of your life. [1] |

18 וְק֥וֹץ וְדַרְדַּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha תַּצְמִ֣יחַֽ לָ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta אֶת־עֵ֥שֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
18 Thorns and thistles [2] it will produce for you; [1] the herbs of the field. [1] |

19 בְּזֵעַ֤ת אַפֶּ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta תֹּ֣אכַל לֶ֔חֶם [2] Zaqef אֶל־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef לֻקָּ֑חְתָּ [1] Etnachta וְאֶל־עָפָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha תָּשֽׁוּב׃ [1] Silluq |
19 By the sweat of your face [3 3] you will eat bread, [2] to the ground, [2] you were taken. [1] and to dust [2] you shall return.” [1] |

20 וַיִּקְרָ֧א הָֽאָדָ֛ם [3] Tevir שֵׁ֥ם אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha חַוָּ֑ה [1] Etnachta הִ֥וא הָֽיְתָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֵ֥ם כׇּל־חָֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
20 And the man called [3] the name of his wife [2] Havah; [1] she, she was [2] the mother of all the living. [1] |

21 וַיַּ֩עַשׂ֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים [4] Geresh לְאָדָ֧ם וּלְאִשְׁתּ֛וֹ [3] Tevir כׇּתְנ֥וֹת ע֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha וַיַּלְבִּשֵֽׁם׃ [1] Silluq פ |
21 And the LORD God made [4] for Adam and for his wife, [3] garments of animal skin, [2] and he clothed them. [1] ¶ |

22 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ׀ [4] Legarmeh יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֗ים [3] Revi'i הָיָה֙ [3] Pashta כְּאַחַ֣ד מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef ט֣וֹב וָרָ֑ע [1] Etnachta פֶּן־יִשְׁלַ֣ח יָד֗וֹ [3] Revi'i גַּ֚ם [3] Yetiv מֵעֵ֣ץ הַֽחַיִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef וָחַ֥י לְעֹלָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
22 And he said, [4] the LORD God, [3] he has become [3] like one of us, [2] good and evil; [1] if he should reach out his hand, [3] also [3] from the tree of life, [2] and he will live forever.” [1] |

23 וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵ֛הוּ [3] Tevir יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha מִגַּן־עֵ֑דֶן [1] Etnachta אֶת־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef מִשָּֽׁם׃ [1] Silluq |
23 So he sent him out, [3] the LORD God, [2] from the garden of Eden; [1] the ground, [2] from there. [1] |

24 וַיְגָ֖רֶשׁ [2] Tip'cha אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta אֶת־הַכְּרֻבִ֗ים [3] Revi'i הַמִּתְהַפֶּ֔כֶת [2] Zaqef אֶת־דֶּ֖רֶךְ [2] Tip'cha עֵ֥ץ הַֽחַיִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq ס |
24 And he drove out [2] the man; [1] the cherubim, [3] which turned every way, [2] the way [2] to the tree of life. [1] § |
