1 וְהַנָּחָשׁ֙ [3] Pashta
הָיָ֣ה עָר֔וּם [2] Zaqef
 
מִכֹּל֙ [3] Pashta
חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶל־הָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אַ֚ף [3] Yetiv
כִּֽי־אָמַ֣ר אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
לֹ֣א תֹֽאכְל֔וּ [2] Zaqef
מִכֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
עֵ֥ץ הַגָּֽן׃ [1] Silluq

it was shrewd, [2]
 
more than any [3]
animal of the field [2]
 
which he had made, [2]
the LORD God; [1]
 
and he said [3 3]
to the woman, [2]
 
“Really [3]
did God say, [2]
 
‘You must not eat [2]
from any [2]
tree of the garden’?” [1]
2 וַתֹּ֥אמֶר הָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־הַנָּחָ֑שׁ [1] Etnachta
 
מִפְּרִ֥י עֵֽץ־הַגָּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
נֹאכֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 And the woman said [2]
to the serpent; [1]
 
“From the fruit of the trees in the garden [2]
we may eat, [1]
3 וּמִפְּרִ֣י הָעֵץ֮ [3] Zarqa
אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּתוֹךְ־הַגָּן֒ [2] Segol
 
אָמַ֣ר אֱלֹהִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
לֹ֤א תֹֽאכְלוּ֙ [3] Pashta
מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹ֥א תִגְּע֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
בּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
פֶּן־תְּמֻתֽוּן׃ [1] Silluq

which is in the middle of the garden, [2]
 
God said, [3]
‘You must not eat [3]
from it, [2]
 
and you must not touch [2]
it; [1]
 
lest you die.’ ” [1]
4 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הַנָּחָ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־הָֽאִשָּׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
לֹֽא־מ֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
תְּמֻתֽוּן׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 4 And the serpent said [2]
to the woman; [1]
 
“Not really [2]
will you die, [1]
5 כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
יֹדֵ֣עַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֗י [3] Revi'i
בְּיוֹם֙ [3] Pashta
אֲכׇלְכֶ֣ם מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְנִפְקְח֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
עֵֽינֵיכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וִהְיִיתֶם֙ [3] Pashta
כֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
יֹדְעֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
ט֥וֹב וָרָֽע׃ [1] Silluq

in the day [3]
you eat from it, [2]
 
they will be opened, [2]
your eyes; [1]
 
and you will be [3]
like God, [2]
 
knowing [2]

6 וַתֵּ֣רֶא הָֽאִשָּׁ֡ה [4] Pazer
כִּ֣י טוֹב֩ הָעֵ֨ץ לְמַאֲכָ֜ל [4] Geresh
וְכִ֧י תַֽאֲוָה־ה֣וּא לָעֵינַ֗יִם [3] Revi'i
 
וְנֶחְמָ֤ד הָעֵץ֙ [3] Pashta
לְהַשְׂכִּ֔יל [2] Zaqef
 
וַתִּקַּ֥ח מִפִּרְי֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
וַתֹּאכַ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וַתִּתֵּ֧ן גַּם־לְאִישָׁ֛הּ [3] Tevir
עִמָּ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
וַיֹּאכַֽל׃ [1] Silluq

that the tree was good for food [4]
and that it was a delight to the eyes, [3]
 
and the tree was desirable [3]
for gaining wisdom, [2]
 
she took some of its fruit [2]
and she ate; [1]
 
and she also gave some to her husband [3]
with her, [2]
and he ate. [1]
7 וַתִּפָּקַ֙חְנָה֙ [3 3] Pashta
עֵינֵ֣י שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֵּ֣דְע֔וּ [2] Zaqef
כִּ֥י עֵֽירֻמִּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
הֵ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַֽיִּתְפְּרוּ֙ [3] Pashta
עֲלֵ֣ה תְאֵנָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
חֲגֹרֹֽת׃ [1] Silluq

the eyes of both of them, [2]
 
and they knew [2]
that naked [2]
they were; [1]
 
and they sewed together [3]
leaves of a fig tree, [2]
 
and they made for themselves [2]
coverings. [1]
8 וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֞וּ [4] Gershayim
אֶת־ק֨וֹל יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים [3] Tevir
מִתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בַּגָּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
לְר֣וּחַ הַיּ֑וֹם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּתְחַבֵּ֨א הָֽאָדָ֜ם [4] Geresh
וְאִשְׁתּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
 
מִפְּנֵי֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
בְּת֖וֹךְ [2] Tip'cha
עֵ֥ץ הַגָּֽן׃ [1] Silluq

the voice of the LORD God, [3]
walking in the garden, [2]
in the cool of the day; [1]
 
and the man hid himself [4]
and his wife [3]
 
from the presence of [3]
the LORD God, [2]
 
among [2]
the trees of the garden. [1]
9 וַיִּקְרָ֛א [3] Tevir
יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־הָֽאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
אַיֶּֽכָּה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 9 And he called, [3]
the LORD God [2]
to the man; [1]
 
and he said to him, [2]
“Where are you?” [1]
10 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
אֶת־קֹלְךָ֥ שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי [2] Tip'cha
בַּגָּ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
וָאִירָ֛א [3] Tevir
כִּֽי־עֵירֹ֥ם אָנֹ֖כִי [2] Tip'cha
וָאֵחָבֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 3 10 And he said, [2]
“Your voice I heard [2]
in the garden; [1]
 
and I was afraid [3]
because I was naked, [2]
so I hid myself.” [1]
11 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
 
מִ֚י [3] Yetiv
הִגִּ֣יד לְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י עֵירֹ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אָ֑תָּה [1] Etnachta
 
הֲמִן־הָעֵ֗ץ [3] Revi'i
אֲשֶׁ֧ר צִוִּיתִ֛יךָ [3] Tevir
לְבִלְתִּ֥י אֲכׇל־מִמֶּ֖נּוּ [2] Tip'cha
אָכָֽלְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq

“Who [3]
told you [2]
 
that naked [2]
you were? [1]
 
From the tree [3]
that I commanded you [3]
not to eat from it, [2]
have you eaten?” [1]
12 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר [2] Tip'cha
הָֽאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתַ֣תָּה עִמָּדִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
הִ֛וא [3] Tevir
נָֽתְנָה־לִּ֥י מִן־הָעֵ֖ץ [2] Tip'cha
וָאֹכֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq

the man; [1]
 
“The woman [3]
whom you put with me, [2]
 
she, [3]
she gave to me from the tree, [2]
and I ate.” [1]
13 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים [3] Tevir
לָאִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מַה־זֹּ֣את עָשִׂ֑ית [1] Etnachta
 
וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta
הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
הַנָּחָ֥שׁ הִשִּׁיאַ֖נִי [2] Tip'cha
וָאֹכֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 13 And the LORD God said [3]
to the woman, [2]
“What is this you have done?” [1]
 
And she said, [3 3]
the woman, [2]
 
“The serpent deceived me, [2]
and I ate.” [1]
14 וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֥ים ׀ אֶֽל־הַנָּחָשׁ֮ [3] Zarqa
כִּ֣י עָשִׂ֣יתָ זֹּאת֒ [2] Segol
 
אָר֤וּר אַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
מִכׇּל־הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וּמִכֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
עַל־גְּחֹנְךָ֣ תֵלֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
וְעָפָ֥ר תֹּאכַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־יְמֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 2 2 14 And the LORD God said to the serpent, [3]
“Because you have done this, [2]
 
you are cursed [3]
above all the livestock, [2]
 
and above all [2]
the animals of the field; [1]
 
on your belly you will go, [2]
and dust you will eat [2]
all the days of your life. [1]
15 וְאֵיבָ֣ה ׀ [4] Legarmeh
אָשִׁ֗ית [3] Revi'i
 
בֵּֽינְךָ֙ [3] Pashta
וּבֵ֣ין הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וּבֵ֥ין זַרְעֲךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
וּבֵ֣ין זַרְעָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta
 
ה֚וּא [3] Yetiv
יְשׁוּפְךָ֣ רֹ֔אשׁ [2] Zaqef
 
וְאַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
תְּשׁוּפֶ֥נּוּ עָקֵֽב׃ [1] Silluq

I will put [3]
 
between you [3]
and the woman, [2]
 
and between your offspring [2]
and her offspring. [1]
 
He, [3]
he will bruise your head, [2]
 
and you, [2]
you will bruise his heel.” [1]

16 אֶֽל־הָאִשָּׁ֣ה אָמַ֗ר [3] Revi'i
הַרְבָּ֤ה אַרְבֶּה֙ [3] Pashta
עִצְּבוֹנֵ֣ךְ וְהֵֽרֹנֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
 
בְּעֶ֖צֶב [2] Tip'cha
תֵּֽלְדִ֣י בָנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֶל־אִישֵׁךְ֙ [3] Pashta
תְּשׁ֣וּקָתֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
 
וְה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha
יִמְשׇׁל־בָּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq

“I will greatly increase [3]
your pain in childbirth. [2]
 
In pain [2]
you will bear children. [1]
 
And to your husband will be [3]
your desire, [2]
 
and he, [2]
he will rule over you.” [1]

17 וּלְאָדָ֣ם אָמַ֗ר [3] Revi'i
כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֘עְתָּ֮ [3 3] Zarqa
לְק֣וֹל אִשְׁתֶּ֒ךָ֒ [2 2] Segol
 
וַתֹּ֙אכַל֙ [3 3] Pashta
מִן־הָעֵ֔ץ [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֤ר צִוִּיתִ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
לֹ֥א תֹאכַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
מִמֶּ֑נּוּ [1] Etnachta
 
אֲרוּרָ֤ה הָֽאֲדָמָה֙ [3] Pashta
בַּֽעֲבוּרֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef
 
בְּעִצָּבוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
תֹּֽאכְלֶ֔נָּה [2] Zaqef
 
כֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
יְמֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq

“Because you listened [3 3]
to your wife’s voice, [2 2]
 
and you ate [3 3]
from the tree [2]
 
of which I commanded you [3 3]
saying, [2]
 
‘You must not eat [2]
from it’ - [1]
 
the ground is cursed [3]
because of you. [2]
 
With much labor [3]
you will eat from it [2]
 
all [2]
the days of your life. [1]
18 וְק֥וֹץ וְדַרְדַּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
תַּצְמִ֣יחַֽ לָ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וְאָכַלְתָּ֖ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־עֵ֥שֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 18 Thorns and thistles [2]
it will produce for you; [1]
 
and you will eat [2]
the herbs of the field. [1]
19 בְּזֵעַ֤ת אַפֶּ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
תֹּ֣אכַל לֶ֔חֶם [2] Zaqef
 
עַ֤ד שֽׁוּבְךָ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י מִמֶּ֖נָּה [2] Tip'cha
לֻקָּ֑חְתָּ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּֽי־עָפָ֣ר אַ֔תָּה [2] Zaqef
וְאֶל־עָפָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
תָּשֽׁוּב׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 2 2 19 By the sweat of your face [3 3]
you will eat bread, [2]
 
until you return [3]
to the ground, [2]
 
for from it [2]
you were taken. [1]
 
For dust you are, [2]
and to dust [2]
you shall return.” [1]
20 וַיִּקְרָ֧א הָֽאָדָ֛ם [3] Tevir
שֵׁ֥ם אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
חַוָּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֛י [3] Tevir
הִ֥וא הָֽיְתָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֵ֥ם כׇּל־חָֽי׃ [1] Silluq

the name of his wife [2]
Havah; [1]
 
because [3]
she, she was [2]
the mother of all the living. [1]
21 וַיַּ֩עַשׂ֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים [4] Geresh
לְאָדָ֧ם וּלְאִשְׁתּ֛וֹ [3] Tevir
כׇּתְנ֥וֹת ע֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
וַיַּלְבִּשֵֽׁם׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 4 21 And the LORD God made [4]
for Adam and for his wife, [3]
garments of animal skin, [2]
and he clothed them. [1]
22 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ׀ [4] Legarmeh
יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
הֵ֤ן הָֽאָדָם֙ [3] Pashta
הָיָה֙ [3] Pashta
כְּאַחַ֣ד מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef
 
לָדַ֖עַת [2] Tip'cha
ט֣וֹב וָרָ֑ע [1] Etnachta
 
וְעַתָּ֣ה ׀ [4] Legarmeh
פֶּן־יִשְׁלַ֣ח יָד֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
 
וְלָקַח֙ [3] Pashta
גַּ֚ם [3] Yetiv
מֵעֵ֣ץ הַֽחַיִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְאָכַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
וָחַ֥י לְעֹלָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD God, [3]
 
“Behold, the man, [3]
he has become [3]
like one of us, [2]
 
knowing [2]
good and evil; [1]
 
so now [4]
if he should reach out his hand, [3]
 
he will take [3]
also [3]
from the tree of life, [2]
 
and he will eat, [2]
and he will live forever.” [1]
23 וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵ֛הוּ [3] Tevir
יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
מִגַּן־עֵ֑דֶן [1] Etnachta
 
לַֽעֲבֹד֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֻקַּ֖ח [2] Tip'cha
מִשָּֽׁם׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD God, [2]
from the garden of Eden; [1]
 
to till [3]
the ground, [2]
 
where he was taken [2]
from there. [1]
24 וַיְגָ֖רֶשׁ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּשְׁכֵּן֩ מִקֶּ֨דֶם לְגַן־עֵ֜דֶן [4] Geresh
אֶת־הַכְּרֻבִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
וְאֵ֨ת לַ֤הַט הַחֶ֙רֶב֙ [3 3] Pashta
הַמִּתְהַפֶּ֔כֶת [2] Zaqef
 
לִשְׁמֹ֕ר [2] ZaqefG
אֶת־דֶּ֖רֶךְ [2] Tip'cha
עֵ֥ץ הַֽחַיִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq

the man; [1]
 
and he stationed at the east of the garden of Eden [4]
the cherubim, [3]
 
and a flaming sword [3 3]
which turned every way, [2]
 
to guard [2]
the way [2]
to the tree of life. [1]
