1 וְהָרָעָ֖ב [2] Tip'cha כָּבֵ֥ד בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
1 And the famine [2] was severe in the land. [1] |

2 וַיְהִ֗י [3] Revi'i כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר כִּלּוּ֙ [3] Pashta לֶאֱכֹ֣ל אֶת־הַשֶּׁ֔בֶר [2] Zaqef מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta אֲבִיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef שִׁבְרוּ־לָ֥נוּ מְעַט־אֹֽכֶל׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And [3] when they had finished [3] eating the grain [2] from Egypt; [1] their father, [2] buy for us a little food.” [1] |

3 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר אֵלָ֛יו [3] Tevir יְהוּדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta לֹֽא־תִרְא֣וּ פָנַ֔י [2] Zaqef אֲחִיכֶ֥ם אִתְּכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
3 And he spoke to him, [3] Judah, [2] saying; [1] ‘You shall not see my face, [2] your brother is with you.’ [1] |

4 אִם־יֶשְׁךָ֛ [3] Tevir מְשַׁלֵּ֥חַ אֶת־אָחִ֖ינוּ [2] Tip'cha אִתָּ֑נוּ [1] Etnachta וְנִשְׁבְּרָ֥ה לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha אֹֽכֶל׃ [1] Silluq |
4 If there you [3] send our brother [2] with us; [1] and we will buy for you [2] food, [1] |

5 וְאִם־אֵינְךָ֥ מְשַׁלֵּ֖חַ [2] Tip'cha לֹ֣א נֵרֵ֑ד [1] Etnachta אָמַ֤ר אֵלֵ֙ינוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta לֹֽא־תִרְא֣וּ פָנַ֔י [2] Zaqef אֲחִיכֶ֥ם אִתְּכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
5 but if you don't send (him), [2] we won’t go down; [1] he said to us, [3 3] ‘You shall not see my face, [2] your brother is with you.’ ” [1] |

6 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef לִ֑י [1] Etnachta הַע֥וֹד לָכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha אָֽח׃ [1] Silluq |
6 And he said, [3 3] Israel, [2] to me; [1] that you had another [2] brother?” [1] |

7 וַיֹּאמְר֡וּ [4] Pazer שָׁא֣וֹל שָֽׁאַל־הָ֠אִ֠ישׁ [4 4] TelishaG לָ֣נוּ וּלְמֽוֹלַדְתֵּ֜נוּ [4] Geresh לֵאמֹ֗ר [3] Revi'i הֲיֵ֣שׁ לָכֶ֣ם אָ֔ח [2] Zaqef עַל־פִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה [1] Etnachta כִּ֣י יֹאמַ֔ר [2] Zaqef הוֹרִ֖ידוּ [2] Tip'cha אֶת־אֲחִיכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
7 And they said, [4] “The man asked directly [4 4] about ourselves and about our relatives [4] saying, [3] Do you have another brother?’ [2] the answers [2] to these questions. [1] that he would say, [2] ‘Bring down [2] your brother?’ ” [1] |

8 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוּדָ֜ה [4] Geresh אֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל אָבִ֗יו [3] Revi'i אִתִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha וְלֹ֣א נָמ֔וּת [2] Zaqef גַּם־טַפֵּֽנוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And Judah said [4] to Israel his father, [3] with me, [2] and we will not die, [2] and also our little ones. [1] |

9 אָֽנֹכִי֙ [3] Pashta אֶֽעֶרְבֶ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef תְּבַקְשֶׁ֑נּוּ [1] Etnachta וְהִצַּגְתִּ֣יו לְפָנֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef כׇּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
9 I, [3] I will be collateral for him. [2] you will require him. [1] and I (don't) set him before you, [2] forever, [1] |

10 כִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha לוּלֵ֣א הִתְמַהְמָ֑הְנוּ [1] Etnachta זֶ֥ה פַעֲמָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq |
10 for [2] if we hadn’t delayed; [1] a second time.” [1] |

11 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֜ם [4] Geresh יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל אֲבִיהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i אֵפוֹא֮ [3] Zarqa זֹ֣את עֲשׂוּ֒ [2] Segol מִזִּמְרַ֤ת הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ [3 3] Pashta בִּכְלֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef מִנְחָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וּמְעַ֣ט דְּבַ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef בׇּטְנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וּשְׁקֵדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
11 And he said to them, [4] Israel their father, [3] then [3] do this: [2] from the choice fruits of the land [3 3] in your bags, [2] a gift; [1] and a little honey, [2] nuts [2] and almonds, [1] |

12 וְכֶ֥סֶף מִשְׁנֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha קְח֣וּ בְיֶדְכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta הַמּוּשָׁ֨ב בְּפִ֤י אַמְתְּחֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ [3] Pashta תָּשִׁ֣יבוּ בְיֶדְכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq |
12 and silver double, [2] take in your hand; [1] which was returned in the mouth of your sacks, [3] take back in your hand, [2] it was. [1] |

13 וְאֶת־אֲחִיכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha קָ֑חוּ [1] Etnachta שׁ֥וּבוּ אֶל־הָאִֽישׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
13 And your brother [2] take; [1] return to the man. [1] |
|||
14 וְאֵ֣ל שַׁדַּ֗י [3] Revi'i יִתֵּ֨ן לָכֶ֤ם רַחֲמִים֙ [3] Pashta לִפְנֵ֣י הָאִ֔ישׁ [2] Zaqef אֶת־אֲחִיכֶ֥ם אַחֵ֖ר [2] Tip'cha וְאֶת־בִּנְיָמִ֑ין [1] Etnachta כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁכֹ֖לְתִּי [2] Tip'cha שָׁכָֽלְתִּי׃ [1] Silluq |
14 And God Almighty, [3] may he give you mercy [3] before the man, [2] your other brother, [2] and Benjamin; [1] if I am bereaved, [2] I am bereaved.” [1] |

15 וַיִּקְח֤וּ הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־הַמִּנְחָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את [2] Zaqef לָקְח֥וּ בְיָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha וְאֶת־בִּנְיָמִ֑ן [1] Etnachta וַיֵּרְד֣וּ מִצְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef לִפְנֵ֥י יוֹסֵֽף׃ [1] Silluq |
15 And the men took [3] this gift, [2] they took in their hand, [2] and Benjamin; [1] and they went down to Egypt, [2] before Joseph. [1] |

16 וַיַּ֨רְא יוֹסֵ֣ף אִתָּם֮ [3] Zarqa אֶת־בִּנְיָמִין֒ [2] Segol לַֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־בֵּית֔וֹ [2] Zaqef הַבָּ֑יְתָה [1] Etnachta וְהָכֵ֔ן [2] Zaqef יֹאכְל֥וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים [2] Tip'cha בַּֽצׇּהֳרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq |
16 And when Joseph saw with them [3] Benjamin, [2] to the one who was over his household, [2] to the house; [1] and prepare it, [2] the men will eat [2] at noon.” [1] |

17 וַיַּ֣עַשׂ הָאִ֔ישׁ [2] Zaqef כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר [2] Tip'cha אָמַ֣ר יוֹסֵ֑ף [1] Etnachta אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים [2] Tip'cha בֵּ֥יתָה יוֹסֵֽף׃ [1] Silluq |
17 And the man did [2] just as [2] Joseph said; [1] the men [2] to the house of Joseph. [1] |

18 וַיִּֽירְא֣וּ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֗ים [3] Revi'i כִּ֣י הֽוּבְאוּ֮ [3] Zarqa בֵּ֣ית יוֹסֵף֒ [2] Segol עַל־דְּבַ֤ר הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ [3 3] Pashta הַשָּׁ֤ב בְּאַמְתְּחֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta בַּתְּחִלָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef מֽוּבָאִ֑ים [1] Etnachta וּלְהִתְנַפֵּ֣ל עָלֵ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef לַעֲבָדִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וְאֶת־חֲמֹרֵֽינוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
18 And the men were afraid, [3] because they were brought [3] to the house of Joseph, [2] “Because of the money [3 3] which was returned in our sacks [3 3] the first time, [2] are being brought; [1] and to attack us, [2] as slaves, [2] along with our donkeys.” [1] |

19 וַֽיִּגְּשׁוּ֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־הָאִ֔ישׁ [2] Zaqef עַל־בֵּ֣ית יוֹסֵ֑ף [1] Etnachta פֶּ֥תַח הַבָּֽיִת׃ [1] Silluq |
19 And they came near [3] to the man [2] was over the household of of Joseph; [1] at the entrance of the house, [1] |

20 וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ [2] Tip'cha בִּ֣י אֲדֹנִ֑י [1] Etnachta בַּתְּחִלָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לִשְׁבׇּר־אֹֽכֶל׃ [1] Silluq |
20 and they said, [2] “Pardon us, Oh my lord; [1] the first time [2] to buy food. [1] |

21 וַֽיְהִ֞י [4] Gershayim כִּי־בָ֣אנוּ אֶל־הַמָּל֗וֹן [3] Revi'i אֶת־אַמְתְּחֹתֵ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef בְּפִ֣י אַמְתַּחְתּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef בְּמִשְׁקָל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta בְּיָדֵֽנוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
21 And when [4] we came to the lodging place, [3] our sacks, [2] was in the mouth of his sack, [2] in full weight; [1] in our hand. [1] |

22 וְכֶ֧סֶף אַחֵ֛ר [3] Tevir הוֹרַ֥דְנוּ בְיָדֵ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha לִשְׁבׇּר־אֹ֑כֶל [1] Etnachta מִי־שָׂ֥ם כַּסְפֵּ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha בְּאַמְתְּחֹתֵֽינוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
22 And other money [3] we have brought down in our hand, [2] to buy food; [1] who put our money [2] in our sacks.” [1] |

23 וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ שָׁל֨וֹם לָכֶ֜ם [4] Geresh אַל־תִּירָ֗אוּ [3] Revi'i וֵֽאלֹהֵ֤י אֲבִיכֶם֙ [3] Pashta בְּאַמְתְּחֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef בָּ֣א אֵלָ֑י [1] Etnachta אֶת־שִׁמְעֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq |
23 And he said, “Peace be to you. [4] Don’t be afraid. [3] and the God of your father, [3] in your sacks. [2] I received.” [1] Simeon. [1] |

24 וַיָּבֵ֥א הָאִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים [2] Tip'cha בֵּ֣יתָה יוֹסֵ֑ף [1] Etnachta וַיִּרְחֲצ֣וּ רַגְלֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef לַחֲמֹֽרֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
24 And the man brought [3] the men [2] into the house of Joseph; [1] and they washed their feet, [2] to their donkeys. [1] |

25 וַיָּכִ֙ינוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta אֶת־הַמִּנְחָ֔ה [2] Zaqef בַּֽצׇּהֳרָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta כִּי־שָׁ֖ם [2] Tip'cha יֹ֥אכְלוּ לָֽחֶם׃ [1] Silluq |
25 And they prepared [3 3] the gift [2] at noon; [1] that there [2] they would eat bread. [1] |

26 וַיָּבֹ֤א יוֹסֵף֙ [3] Pashta הַבַּ֔יְתָה [2] Zaqef אֶת־הַמִּנְחָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר־בְּיָדָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha הַבָּ֑יְתָה [1] Etnachta אָֽרְצָה׃ [1] Silluq |
26 And when Joseph came [3] to the house, [2] the gift which was in their hand [2] into the house; [1] to the ground. [1] |

27 וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל לָהֶם֙ [3] Pashta לְשָׁל֔וֹם [2] Zaqef הֲשָׁל֛וֹם [3] Tevir אֲבִיכֶ֥ם הַזָּקֵ֖ן [2] Tip'cha אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֲמַרְתֶּ֑ם [1] Etnachta חָֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
27 And he asked them [3] of their welfare, [2] “Is (he) well [3] your old father, [2] of whom you spoke? [1] alive?” [1] |

28 וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ [3] Revi'i שָׁל֛וֹם [3] Tevir לְעַבְדְּךָ֥ לְאָבִ֖ינוּ [2] Tip'cha עוֹדֶ֣נּוּ חָ֑י [1] Etnachta *וישתחו **וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
28 And they said, [3] “Health [3] your servant our father has, [2] he is still alive.” [1] and they bowed humbly. [1] |

29 וַיִּשָּׂ֣א עֵינָ֗יו [3] Revi'i אֶת־בִּנְיָמִ֣ין אָחִיו֮ [3] Zarqa בֶּן־אִמּוֹ֒ [2] Segol הֲזֶה֙ [3] Pashta אֲחִיכֶ֣ם הַקָּטֹ֔ן [2] Zaqef אֵלָ֑י [1] Etnachta אֱלֹהִ֥ים יׇחְנְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha בְּנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
29 And he lifted up his eyes, [3] Benjamin his brother, [3] the son of his mother, [2] “Is this [3] your youngest brother, [2] to me?” [1] “May God be gracious to you [2] my son.” [1] |

30 וַיְמַהֵ֣ר יוֹסֵ֗ף [3] Revi'i כִּֽי־נִכְמְר֤וּ רַחֲמָיו֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־אָחִ֔יו [2] Zaqef לִבְכּ֑וֹת [1] Etnachta וַיֵּ֥בְךְּ שָֽׁמָּה׃ [1] Silluq |
30 And Joseph hurried, [3] for his heart yearned [3] over his brother, [2] to weep; [1] and he wept there. [1] |

31 וַיִּרְחַ֥ץ פָּנָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha וַיֵּצֵ֑א [1] Etnachta וַיֹּ֖אמֶר [2] Tip'cha שִׂ֥ימוּ לָֽחֶם׃ [1] Silluq |
31 And he washed his face [2] and he came out; [1] and he said, [2] “Serve the meal.” [1] |

32 וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ ל֛וֹ [3] Tevir לְבַדּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha וְלָהֶ֣ם לְבַדָּ֑ם [1] Etnachta הָאֹכְלִ֤ים אִתּוֹ֙ [3] Pashta לְבַדָּ֔ם [2] Zaqef הַמִּצְרִ֗ים [3] Revi'i לֶ֔חֶם [2] Zaqef לְמִצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq |
32 And they served him [3] by himself, [2] and them by themselves; [1] who were eating with him [3] by themselves, [2] the Egyptians, [3] bread, [2] the Egyptians. [1] |

33 וַיֵּשְׁב֣וּ לְפָנָ֔יו [2] Zaqef כִּבְכֹ֣רָת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef כִּצְעִרָת֑וֹ [1] Etnachta אִ֥ישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
33 And they sat before him, [2] according to his birthright, [2] according to his youth; [1] at each other. [1] |

34 וַיִּשָּׂ֨א מַשְׂאֹ֜ת [4] Geresh מֵאֵ֣ת פָּנָיו֮ [3] Zarqa אֲלֵהֶם֒ [2] Segol מַשְׂאַ֧ת בִּנְיָמִ֛ן [3] Tevir מִמַּשְׂאֹ֥ת כֻּלָּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha חָמֵ֣שׁ יָד֑וֹת [1] Etnachta עִמּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
34 And he sent portions [4] from before him [3] to them, [2] the portion of Benjamin, [3] more than the portions of any of them, [2] five times as much; [1] with him. [1] |
