1 וַיַּ֣רְא יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef כִּ֥י יֶשׁ־שֶׁ֖בֶר [2] Tip'cha בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta לְבָנָ֔יו [2] Zaqef תִּתְרָאֽוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Now Jacob saw [2] that there was grain [2] in Egypt; [1] to his sons, [2] are you looking at one another?” [1] |

2 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG הִנֵּ֣ה שָׁמַ֔עְתִּי [2] Zaqef כִּ֥י יֶשׁ־שֶׁ֖בֶר [2] Tip'cha בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta וְשִׁבְרוּ־לָ֣נוּ מִשָּׁ֔ם [2] Zaqef וְלֹ֥א נָמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And he said, [2] “Behold I have heard [2] that there is grain [2] in Egypt. [1] and buy grain for us from there, [2] and not die.” [1] |

3 וַיֵּרְד֥וּ אֲחֵֽי־יוֹסֵ֖ף [2] Tip'cha עֲשָׂרָ֑ה [1] Etnachta מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq |
3 And they went down, the brothers of Joseph [2] ten; [1] from Egypt. [1] |

4 וְאֶת־בִּנְיָמִין֙ [3] Pashta אֲחִ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף [2] Zaqef אֶת־אֶחָ֑יו [1] Etnachta פֶּן־יִקְרָאֶ֖נּוּ [2] Tip'cha אָסֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq |
4 But Benjamin [3] the brother of Joseph, [2] with his brothers; [1] “Lest it should happen to him [2] harm.” [1] |

5 וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef בְּת֣וֹךְ הַבָּאִ֑ים [1] Etnachta בְּאֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃ [1] Silluq |
5 And they came, [3 3] the sons of Israel [2] among those who were coming; [1] in the land of Canaan. [1] |

6 וְיוֹסֵ֗ף [3] Revi'i ה֚וּא [3] Yetiv הַשַּׁלִּ֣יט עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef לְכׇל־עַ֣ם הָאָ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta אֲחֵ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף [2] Zaqef אָֽרְצָה׃ [1] Silluq |
6 And Joseph, [3] he [3] was the ruler over the land. [2] to all the people of the land; [1] the brothers of Joseph, [2] to the ground. [1] |

7 וַיַּ֥רְא יוֹסֵ֛ף [3] Tevir אֶת־אֶחָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha וַיַּכִּרֵ֑ם [1] Etnachta וַיְדַבֵּ֧ר אִתָּ֣ם קָשׁ֗וֹת [3] Revi'i מֵאַ֣יִן בָּאתֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef מֵאֶ֥רֶץ כְּנַ֖עַן [2] Tip'cha לִשְׁבׇּר־אֹֽכֶל׃ [1] Silluq |
7 And Joseph saw [3] his brothers, [2] and he recognized them; [1] and he spoke harshly with them, [3] “From where have you come?” [2] “From the land of Canaan [2] to buy food.” [1] |

8 וַיַּכֵּ֥ר יוֹסֵ֖ף [2] Tip'cha אֶת־אֶחָ֑יו [1] Etnachta לֹ֥א הִכִּרֻֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And Joseph recognized [2] his brothers; [1] they didn’t recognize him. [1] |

9 וַיִּזְכֹּ֣ר יוֹסֵ֔ף [2] Zaqef הַחֲלֹמ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef לָהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta מְרַגְּלִ֣ים אַתֶּ֔ם [2] Zaqef אֶת־עֶרְוַ֥ת הָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha בָּאתֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
9 And Joseph remembered [2] dreams [2] about them; [1] “You are spies! [2] the nakedness of the land, [2] you have come.” [1] |

10 וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ אֵלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha לֹ֣א אֲדֹנִ֑י [1] Etnachta לִשְׁבׇּר־אֹֽכֶל׃ [1] Silluq |
10 And they said to him, [2] “No, my lord; [1] to buy food. [1] |
|||
11 כֻּלָּ֕נוּ [2] ZaqefG בְּנֵ֥י אִישׁ־אֶחָ֖ד [2] Tip'cha נָ֑חְנוּ [1] Etnachta לֹא־הָי֥וּ עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha מְרַגְּלִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
11 All of us, [2] sons of one man [2] are we; [1] your servants are not [2] spies.” [1] |

12 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר [2] Tip'cha אֲלֵהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta כִּֽי־עֶרְוַ֥ת הָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha בָּאתֶ֥ם לִרְאֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq |
12 And he said [2] to them; [1] but the nakedness of the land [2] you have come to see!” [1] |

13 וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ [3] Revi'i שְׁנֵ֣ים עָשָׂר֩ עֲבָדֶ֨יךָ אַחִ֧ים ׀ אֲנַ֛חְנוּ [3] Tevir בְּנֵ֥י אִישׁ־אֶחָ֖ד [2] Tip'cha בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן [1] Etnachta הַיּ֔וֹם [2] Zaqef אֵינֶֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
13 And they said, [3] “Two and ten are your servants, brothers are we, [3] the sons of one man, [2] in the land of Canaan; [1] today, [2] he is no more.” [1] |

14 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha יוֹסֵ֑ף [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבַּ֧רְתִּי אֲלֵכֶ֛ם [3] Tevir לֵאמֹ֖ר [2] Tip'cha מְרַגְּלִ֥ים אַתֶּֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
14 And he said to them, [2] Joseph; [1] is that which I told you [3] saying, [2] ‘You are spies!’ [1] |

15 בְּזֹ֖את [2] Tip'cha תִּבָּחֵ֑נוּ [1] Etnachta אִם־תֵּצְא֣וּ מִזֶּ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֲחִיכֶ֥ם הַקָּטֹ֖ן [2] Tip'cha הֵֽנָּה׃ [1] Silluq |
15 By this [2] you shall be tested. [1] you shall not go out from here, [2] your youngest brother [2] here. [1] |

16 שִׁלְח֨וּ מִכֶּ֣ם אֶחָד֮ [3] Zarqa וְיִקַּ֣ח אֶת־אֲחִיכֶם֒ [2] Segol הֵאָ֣סְר֔וּ [2] Zaqef דִּבְרֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef אִתְּכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta חֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔ה [2] Zaqef כִּ֥י מְרַגְּלִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha אַתֶּֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
16 Send one of you [3] and let him get your brother, [2] shall be imprisoned, [2] your words, [2] in you; [1] by the life of Pharaoh, [2] surely spies [2] are you.” [1] |

17 וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ף אֹתָ֛ם [3] Tevir אֶל־מִשְׁמָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת יָמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
17 And he put them [3] in custody [2] three days. [1] |

18 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֤ם יוֹסֵף֙ [3] Pashta בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י [2] Zaqef וִֽחְי֑וּ [1] Etnachta אֲנִ֥י יָרֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
18 And Joseph said to them [3] on the third day, [2] and live; [1] I fear. [1] |
|||
19 אִם־כֵּנִ֣ים אַתֶּ֔ם [2] Zaqef אֲחִיכֶ֣ם אֶחָ֔ד [2] Zaqef יֵאָסֵ֖ר [2] Tip'cha בְּבֵ֣ית מִשְׁמַרְכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta לְכ֣וּ הָבִ֔יאוּ [2] Zaqef רַעֲב֥וֹן בָּתֵּיכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
19 If you are honest men, [2] then one of your brothers, [2] let him be imprisoned [2] in the house of your custody; [1] go take [2] for the hunger of your households. [1] |

20 וְאֶת־אֲחִיכֶ֤ם הַקָּטֹן֙ [3] Pashta תָּבִ֣יאוּ אֵלַ֔י [2] Zaqef וְלֹ֣א תָמ֑וּתוּ [1] Etnachta |
20 And your youngest brother [3] you will bring to me, [2] and you will not die.” [1] |

21 וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ [4] Gershayim אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־אָחִ֗יו [3] Revi'i אֲנַ֘חְנוּ֮ [3 3] Zarqa עַל־אָחִ֒ינוּ֒ [2 2] Segol צָרַ֥ת נַפְשׁ֛וֹ [3] Tevir בְּהִתְחַֽנְנ֥וֹ אֵלֵ֖ינוּ [2] Tip'cha וְלֹ֣א שָׁמָ֑עְנוּ [1] Etnachta בָּ֣אָה אֵלֵ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef הַזֹּֽאת׃ [1] Silluq |
21 And they said [4] to one another, [3] are we [3 3] concerning our brother, [2 2] the distress of his soul [3] when he begged us, [2] and we wouldn’t listen; [1] it has come upon us, [2] this.” [1] |

22 וַיַּ֩עַן֩ רְאוּבֵ֨ן אֹתָ֜ם [4] Geresh לֵאמֹ֗ר [3] Revi'i אַל־תֶּחֶטְא֥וּ בַיֶּ֖לֶד [2] Tip'cha הִנֵּ֥ה נִדְרָֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
22 And Reuben answered them [4] saying, [3] ‘Don’t sin against the boy,’ [2] behold, is being required.” [1] |

23 וְהֵם֙ [3] Pashta לֹ֣א יָֽדְע֔וּ [2] Zaqef יוֹסֵ֑ף [1] Etnachta בֵּינֹתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
23 And they [3] didn’t know [2] Joseph; [1] was between them. [1] |

24 וַיִּסֹּ֥ב מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha וַיֵּ֑בְךְּ [1] Etnachta וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef אֶת־שִׁמְע֔וֹן [2] Zaqef לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
24 And he turned away from them [2] and he wept; [1] and he spoke to them, [2] Simeon, [2] before their eyes. [1] |

25 וַיְצַ֣ו יוֹסֵ֗ף [3] Revi'i וַיְמַלְא֣וּ אֶת־כְּלֵיהֶם֮ [3] Zarqa בָּר֒ [2] Segol אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־שַׂקּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef צֵדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לַדָּ֑רֶךְ [1] Etnachta כֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
25 Then Joseph gave the command [3] to fill their bags with [3] grain, [2] each to his sack, [2] provisions [2] for the journey; [1] thus. [1] |

26 וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ אֶת־שִׁבְרָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha עַל־חֲמֹרֵיהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta מִשָּֽׁם׃ [1] Silluq |
26 And they loaded their grain [2] onto their donkeys; [1] from there. [1] |
|||
27 וַיִּפְתַּ֨ח הָאֶחָ֜ד [4] Geresh אֶת־שַׂקּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i לַחֲמֹר֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha אֶת־כַּסְפּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef בְּפִ֥י אַמְתַּחְתּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
27 And as one of them opened [4] his sack [3] to his donkey [2] his silver, [2] in the mouth of his sack. [1] |

28 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֶל־אֶחָיו֙ [3] Pashta הוּשַׁ֣ב כַּסְפִּ֔י [2] Zaqef הִנֵּ֣ה בְאַמְתַּחְתִּ֑י [1] Etnachta אִ֤ישׁ אֶל־אָחִיו֙ [3] Pashta לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef עָשָׂ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha לָֽנוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
28 And he said to his brothers, [3] “My silver has been returned! [2] behold, in my sack!” [1] to one another, [3] saying, [2] that God has done [2] to us?” [1] |

29 וַיָּבֹ֛אוּ [3] Tevir אֶל־יַעֲקֹ֥ב אֲבִיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha אַ֣רְצָה כְּנָ֑עַן [1] Etnachta כׇּל־הַקֹּרֹ֥ת אֹתָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
29 And they came [3] to Jacob their father, [2] to the land of Canaan; [1] all that had happened to them, [2] saying, [1] |

30 דִּ֠בֶּ֠ר [4 4] TelishaG הָאִ֨ישׁ אֲדֹנֵ֥י הָאָ֛רֶץ [3] Tevir אִתָּ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha קָשׁ֑וֹת [1] Etnachta כִּֽמְרַגְּלִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha אֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
30 “He spoke, [4 4] the man, the lord of the land, [3] with us [2] harshly; [1] to be spying out [2] the land. [1] |

31 וַנֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha כֵּנִ֣ים אֲנָ֑חְנוּ [1] Etnachta מְרַגְּלִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
31 And we said to him, [2] ‘Honest are we. [1] spies. [1] |

32 שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֥ר אֲנַ֛חְנוּ [3] Tevir אַחִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha בְּנֵ֣י אָבִ֑ינוּ [1] Etnachta אֶת־אָבִ֖ינוּ [2] Tip'cha בְּאֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃ [1] Silluq |
32 Two and ten are we, [3] brothers, [2] sons of our father; [1] with our father [2] in the land of Canaan.’ [1] |

33 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלֵ֗ינוּ [3] Revi'i הָאִישׁ֙ [3] Pashta אֲדֹנֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef כִּ֥י כֵנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha אַתֶּ֑ם [1] Etnachta הַנִּ֣יחוּ אִתִּ֔י [2] Zaqef קְח֥וּ וָלֵֽכוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
33 And he said to us, [3] the man, [3] the lord of the land, [2] that honest [2] are you: [1] leave with me, [2] take grain and go your way. [1] |

34 וְ֠הָבִ֠יאוּ [4 4] TelishaG אֶת־אֲחִיכֶ֣ם הַקָּטֹן֮ [3] Zarqa אֵלַי֒ [2] Segol כִּ֣י לֹ֤א מְרַגְּלִים֙ [3] Pashta אַתֶּ֔ם [2] Zaqef אַתֶּ֑ם [1] Etnachta אֶתֵּ֣ן לָכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef תִּסְחָֽרוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
34 And bring [4 4] your youngest brother [3] to me, [2] that not spies [3] are you, [2] are you. [1] I will give to you, [2] you shall trade.’ ” [1] |

35 וַיְהִ֗י [3] Revi'i הֵ֚ם [3] Yetiv מְרִיקִ֣ים שַׂקֵּיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef בְּשַׂקּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta אֶת־צְרֹר֧וֹת כַּסְפֵּיהֶ֛ם [3] Tevir הֵ֥מָּה וַאֲבִיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha וַיִּירָֽאוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
35 And as [3] they [3] were emptying their sacks, [2] was in his sack; [1] their bags of silver, [3] they and their father, [2] they were afraid. [1] |

36 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵהֶם֙ [3] Pashta יַעֲקֹ֣ב אֲבִיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef שִׁכַּלְתֶּ֑ם [1] Etnachta וְשִׁמְע֣וֹן אֵינֶ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef עָלַ֖י [2] Tip'cha הָי֥וּ כֻלָּֽנָה׃ [1] Silluq |
36 And he said to them, [3] Jacob their father, [2] you are making childless! [1] and Simeon is no more, [2] Against me [2] are all these things.” [1] |

37 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר רְאוּבֵן֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־אָבִ֣יו לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef תָּמִ֔ית [2] Zaqef אֵלֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta עַל־יָדִ֔י [2] Zaqef אֲשִׁיבֶ֥נּוּ אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
37 And Reuben spoke [3] to his father saying, [2] you kill [2] to you. [1] to my hand, [2] I will bring him back to you.” [1] |

38 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG לֹֽא־יֵרֵ֥ד בְּנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha עִמָּכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta וְה֧וּא לְבַדּ֣וֹ נִשְׁאָ֗ר [3] Revi'i בַּדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֵּֽלְכוּ־בָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef בְּיָג֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha שְׁאֽוֹלָה׃ [1] Silluq |
38 And he said, [2] “My son shall not go down [2] with you; [1] and he, he alone is left, [3] on the journey [3 3] on which you go, [2] in grief [2] to Sheol.” [1] |
