‘The time hasn’t yet come, [3]
the time for the house of the LORD [2]

בְּבָתֵּיכֶ֣ם סְפוּנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְהַבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha

שִׂ֥ימוּ לְבַבְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha

set your heart on [2]
your ways. [1]
6 זְרַעְתֶּ֨ם הַרְבֵּ֜ה [4] Geresh
וְהָבֵ֣א מְעָ֗ט [3] Revi'i
 
אָכ֤וֹל וְאֵין־לְשׇׂבְעָה֙ [3] Pashta
שָׁת֣וֹ וְאֵין־לְשׇׁכְרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
לָב֖וֹשׁ [2] Tip'cha
וְאֵין־לְחֹ֣ם ל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהַ֨מִּשְׂתַּכֵּ֔ר [2] Zaqef
מִשְׂתַּכֵּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־צְר֥וֹר נָקֽוּב׃ [1] Silluq

you eat but not enough to satisfy, [3]
you drink but not enough to be filled, [2]
 
you put on clothes [2]
but no one is warm; [1]
 
and the one who earns wages, [2]

into a bag with holes in it.” [1]

שִׂ֥ימוּ לְבַבְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
עַל־דַּרְכֵיכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD of Hosts; [1]
 
“Set your heart on [2]
your ways. [1]
8 עֲל֥וּ הָהָ֛ר [3] Tevir
וַהֲבֵאתֶ֥ם עֵ֖ץ [2] Tip'cha
וּבְנ֣וּ הַבָּ֑יִת [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֶרְצֶה־בּ֥וֹ *ואכבד **וְאֶכָּבְדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

and bring wood, [2]
and rebuild the house; [1]
 
so that I may take pleasure in it and I may be honored,” [2]
says the LORD. [1]
9 פָּנֹ֤ה אֶל־הַרְבֵּה֙ [3] Pashta
וְהִנֵּ֣ה לִמְעָ֔ט [2] Zaqef
 
וַהֲבֵאתֶ֥ם הַבַּ֖יִת [2] Tip'cha
וְנָפַ֣חְתִּי ב֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
יַ֣עַן מֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i
נְאֻם֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת [2] Zaqef
 
יַ֗עַן [3] Revi'i
בֵּיתִי֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁר־ה֣וּא חָרֵ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
וְאַתֶּ֥ם רָצִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אִ֥ישׁ לְבֵיתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

each to his own house. [1]

וְהָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
כָּלְאָ֥ה יְבוּלָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

the heavens have withheld [2]
the dew; [1]
 
and the earth, [2]
it has withheld its yield. [1]
11 וָאֶקְרָ֨א חֹ֜רֶב [4] Geresh
עַל־הָאָ֣רֶץ וְעַל־הֶהָרִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
וְעַל־הַדָּגָן֙ [3] Pashta
וְעַל־הַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְעַל־הַיִּצְהָ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַ֛ל [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁ֥ר תּוֹצִ֖יא [2] Tip'cha
הָאֲדָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְעַל־הָֽאָדָם֙ [3] Pashta
וְעַל־הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־יְגִ֥יעַ כַּפָּֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

all the labor of the hands.” [1]

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר שְׁלָח֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha

“I am with you,” [2]

חֶמְדַּ֣ת כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וּמִלֵּאתִ֞י [4] Gershayim
אֶת־הַבַּ֤יִת הַזֶּה֙ [3] Pashta
כָּב֔וֹד [2] Zaqef
 
אָמַ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq

and they will come, [2]
the precious things of all the nations; [1]

וּבַמָּק֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ [3] Pashta

Ask now the priests [3]
concerning the law, [2]
saying, [1]

יִשָּׂא־אִ֨ישׁ בְּשַׂר־קֹ֜דֶשׁ [4] Geresh
בִּכְנַ֣ף בִּגְד֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
 
וְנָגַ֣ע בִּ֠כְנָפ֠וֹ [4 4] TelishaG
אֶל־הַלֶּ֨חֶם וְאֶל־הַנָּזִ֜יד [4] Geresh
וְאֶל־הַיַּ֧יִן וְאֶל־שֶׁ֛מֶן [3] Tevir
וְאֶל־כׇּל־מַאֲכָ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
 
הֲיִקְדָּ֑שׁ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּעֲנ֧וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֛ים [3] Tevir
וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
לֹֽא׃ [1] Silluq

someone carries holy meat [4]
in the fold of his garment, [3]
 
and with his fold he touches [4 4]
bread or stew [4]
or wine or oil, [3]
or any food - [2]
 
will it become holy?’ ” [1]
 
And the priests answered [3]
and they said, [2]
“No.” [1]
13 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חַגַּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
אִם־יִגַּ֧ע טְמֵא־נֶ֛פֶשׁ [3] Tevir
בְּכׇל־אֵ֖לֶּה [2] Tip'cha
הֲיִטְמָ֑א [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּעֲנ֧וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֛ים [3] Tevir
וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
יִטְמָֽא׃ [1] Silluq

“If one who is unclean from a dead body touches [3]
any of these, [2]
will it become unclean?” [1]
 
And the priests answered [3]
and they said, [2]
“It will become unclean.” [1]
14 וַיַּ֨עַן חַגַּ֜י [4] Geresh
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר [3] Revi'i
 
כֵּ֣ן הָֽעָם־הַ֠זֶּ֠ה [4 4] TelishaG
וְכֵן־הַגּ֨וֹי הַזֶּ֤ה לְפָנַי֙ [3] Pashta
נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְכֵ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יְדֵיהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר יַקְרִ֛יבוּ [3] Tevir
שָׁ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
טָמֵ֥א הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq

“ ‘So it is with this people, [4 4]
and so is this nation before me,’ [3]
says the LORD, [2]
 
‘and so is [2]
all the work of their hands; [1]
 
that which they offer [3]
there [2]
is unclean. [1]
15 וְעַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
שִֽׂימוּ־נָ֣א לְבַבְכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
מִן־הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וָמָ֑עְלָה [1] Etnachta
 
מִטֶּ֧רֶם שֽׂוּם־אֶ֛בֶן [3] Tevir
אֶל־אֶ֖בֶן [2] Tip'cha
בְּהֵיכַ֥ל יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

set your heart [2]
 
from this day [2]
and back; [1]
 
from before a stone was laid [3]
on a stone [2]
in the temple of the LORD. [1]
16 מִֽהְיוֹתָ֥ם בָּא֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־עֲרֵמַ֣ת עֶשְׂרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְהָיְתָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עֲשָׂרָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
בָּ֣א אֶל־הַיֶּ֗קֶב [3] Revi'i
לַחְשֹׂף֙ [3] Pashta
חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים פּוּרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְהָיְתָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עֶשְׂרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

to a heap of twenty measures, [2]
 
there were [2]
ten; [1]
 
when one came to the wine vat [3]
to draw out [3]
fifty measures, [2]

17 הִכֵּ֨יתִי אֶתְכֶ֜ם [4] Geresh
בַּשִּׁדָּפ֤וֹן וּבַיֵּֽרָקוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
וּבַבָּרָ֔ד [2] Zaqef
 
אֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יְדֵיכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֵין־אֶתְכֶ֥ם אֵלַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

with blight and with mildew, [3]
and with hail, [2]
 
in [2]
all the work of your hands; [1]
 
yet you didn’t turn to me,’ [2]
says the LORD. [1]
18 שִׂימוּ־נָ֣א לְבַבְכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
מִן־הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וָמָ֑עְלָה [1] Etnachta
 
מִיּוֹם֩ עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֜ה [4] Geresh
לַתְּשִׁיעִ֗י [3] Revi'i
 
לְמִן־הַיּ֛וֹם [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־יֻסַּ֥ד הֵֽיכַל־יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
 
שִׂ֥ימוּ לְבַבְכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

from day twenty and four [4]
of the ninth (month), [3]
 
since the day [3]
when the temple of the LORD was founded, [2]
 
set your heart - [1]
19 הַע֤וֹד הַזֶּ֙רַע֙ [3 3] Pashta
בַּמְּגוּרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַד־הַגֶּ֨פֶן וְהַתְּאֵנָ֧ה וְהָרִמּ֛וֹן [3] Tevir
וְעֵ֥ץ הַזַּ֖יִת [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֣א נָשָׂ֑א [1] Etnachta
 
מִן־הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֲבָרֵֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq

in the granary? [2]
 
And the vine and the fig tree and the pomegranate [3]
and the olive tree, [2]
it hasn’t borne fruit. [1]
 
From this day [2]
I will bless.’ ” [1]
20 וַיְהִ֨י דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֤ה ׀ שֵׁנִית֙ [3] Pashta

בְּעֶשְׂרִ֧ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֛ה [3] Tevir
לַחֹ֖דֶשׁ [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 20 And the word of the LORD came a second time [3]
to Haggai [2]
 
on day twenty and four [3]
of the month, [2]
saying, [1]
21 אֱמֹ֕ר [2] ZaqefG
אֶל־זְרֻבָּבֶ֥ל פַּֽחַת־יְהוּדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
אֲנִ֣י מַרְעִ֔ישׁ [2] Zaqef
אֶת־הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
וְאֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq

to Zerubbabel governor of Judah [2]

‘I am going to shake [2]
the heavens [2]
and the earth, [1]
22 וְהָֽפַכְתִּי֙ [3] Pashta
כִּסֵּ֣א מַמְלָכ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִ֨שְׁמַדְתִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
חֹ֖זֶק [2] Tip'cha
מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הַגּוֹיִ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָפַכְתִּ֤י מֶרְכָּבָה֙ [3] Pashta
וְרֹ֣כְבֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְיָרְד֤וּ סוּסִים֙ [3] Pashta
וְרֹ֣כְבֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
אִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha
בְּחֶ֥רֶב אָחִֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

the throne of kingdoms, [2]
 
and I will destroy [2]
the strength [2]
of the kingdoms of the nations; [1]
 
and I will overthrow the chariots [3]
and its riders, [2]
 
and horses will go down [3]
with their riders, [2]
 
each [2]
by the sword of his brother. [1]

זְרֻבָּבֶ֨ל בֶּן־שְׁאַלְתִּיאֵ֤ל עַבְדִּי֙ [3] Pashta

וְשַׂמְתִּ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
כַּֽחוֹתָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
כִּֽי־בְךָ֣ בָחַ֔רְתִּי [2] Zaqef
נְאֻ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq

O Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel my servant,’ [3]

‘and I will make you [2]
like a signet ring; [1]
