and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak [3]
the high priest, [2]

2 כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֛ר [3] Tevir
יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
הָעָ֤ם הַזֶּה֙ [3] Pashta
אָֽמְר֔וּ [2] Zaqef
 
לֹ֥א עֶת־בֹּ֛א [3] Tevir
עֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לְהִבָּנֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq

‘The time hasn’t yet come, [3]
the time for the house of the LORD [2]
to be rebuilt.’ ” [1]

בְּיַד־חַגַּ֥י הַנָּבִ֖יא [2] Tip'cha

the word of the LORD, [2]

4 הַעֵ֤ת לָכֶם֙ [3] Pashta
אַתֶּ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
לָשֶׁ֖בֶת [2] Tip'cha
בְּבָתֵּיכֶ֣ם סְפוּנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְהַבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
חָרֵֽב׃ [1] Silluq

to dwell [2]
in your paneled houses; [1]
 
while this house [2]
is desolate? [1]
5 וְעַתָּ֕ה [2] ZaqefG

יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת [1] Etnachta
 
שִׂ֥ימוּ לְבַבְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
עַל־דַּרְכֵיכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

thus he says, [2]
the LORD of Hosts; [1]
 
set your heart on [2]
your ways. [1]
6 זְרַעְתֶּ֨ם הַרְבֵּ֜ה [4] Geresh
וְהָבֵ֣א מְעָ֗ט [3] Revi'i
 
אָכ֤וֹל וְאֵין־לְשׇׂבְעָה֙ [3] Pashta
שָׁת֣וֹ וְאֵין־לְשׇׁכְרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
לָב֖וֹשׁ [2] Tip'cha
וְאֵין־לְחֹ֣ם ל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהַ֨מִּשְׂתַּכֵּ֔ר [2] Zaqef
מִשְׂתַּכֵּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־צְר֥וֹר נָקֽוּב׃ [1] Silluq

but you bring in little, [3]
 
you eat but not enough to satisfy, [3]
you drink but not enough to be filled, [2]
 
you put on clothes [2]
but no one is warm; [1]
 
and the one who earns wages, [2]
earns wages [2]
into a bag with holes in it.” [1]
7 כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת [1] Etnachta
 
שִׂ֥ימוּ לְבַבְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
עַל־דַּרְכֵיכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 7 Thus he says, [2]
the LORD of Hosts; [1]
 
“Set your heart on [2]
your ways. [1]
8 עֲל֥וּ הָהָ֛ר [3] Tevir
וַהֲבֵאתֶ֥ם עֵ֖ץ [2] Tip'cha
וּבְנ֣וּ הַבָּ֑יִת [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֶרְצֶה־בּ֥וֹ *ואכבד **וְאֶכָּבְדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 8 Go up to the hill country [3]
and bring wood, [2]
and rebuild the house; [1]
 
so that I may take pleasure in it and I may be honored,” [2]
says the LORD. [1]
9 פָּנֹ֤ה אֶל־הַרְבֵּה֙ [3] Pashta
וְהִנֵּ֣ה לִמְעָ֔ט [2] Zaqef
 
וַהֲבֵאתֶ֥ם הַבַּ֖יִת [2] Tip'cha
וְנָפַ֣חְתִּי ב֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
יַ֣עַן מֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i
נְאֻם֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת [2] Zaqef
 
יַ֗עַן [3] Revi'i
בֵּיתִי֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁר־ה֣וּא חָרֵ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
וְאַתֶּ֥ם רָצִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אִ֥ישׁ לְבֵיתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

and when you brought it home [2]
I blew it away; [1]
 
Why?” [3]

the LORD of Hosts, [2]
 
“Because of [3]
my house [3]
which is desolate, [2]
 
while you are running [2]
each to his own house. [1]
10 עַל־כֵּ֣ן עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
כָּלְא֥וּ שָׁמַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
מִטָּ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
כָּלְאָ֥ה יְבוּלָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

the heavens have withheld [2]
the dew; [1]
 
and the earth, [2]
it has withheld its yield. [1]
11 וָאֶקְרָ֨א חֹ֜רֶב [4] Geresh
עַל־הָאָ֣רֶץ וְעַל־הֶהָרִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
וְעַל־הַדָּגָן֙ [3] Pashta
וְעַל־הַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְעַל־הַיִּצְהָ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַ֛ל [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁ֥ר תּוֹצִ֖יא [2] Tip'cha
הָאֲדָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְעַל־הָֽאָדָם֙ [3] Pashta
וְעַל־הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־יְגִ֥יעַ כַּפָּֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

and on the grain [3]
and on the new wine and on the fresh oil, [2]

that which is brought forth by [2]

and on [2]
all the labor of the hands.” [1]
12 וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע זְרֻבָּבֶ֣ל ׀ בֶּֽן־שַׁלְתִּיאֵ֡ל [4] Pazer
וִיהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ בֶּן־יְהוֹצָדָק֩ הַכֹּהֵ֨ן הַגָּד֜וֹל [4] Geresh
וְכֹ֣ל ׀ [4] Legarmeh
שְׁאֵרִ֣ית הָעָ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
בְּקוֹל֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַל־דִּבְרֵי֙ [3] Pashta
חַגַּ֣י הַנָּבִ֔יא [2] Zaqef
 
כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר שְׁלָח֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּֽירְא֥וּ הָעָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
מִפְּנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

to the voice [3]
of the LORD their God, [2]

of Haggai the prophet, [2]
 
since he had sent him, [2]
the LORD their God; [1]
 
and the people feared [2]
the LORD. [1]

מַלְאַ֧ךְ יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
בְּמַלְאֲכ֥וּת יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
 
לָעָ֣ם לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
אֲנִ֥י אִתְּכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

the messenger of the LORD, [3]
by the message of the LORD, [2]
 
to the people saying; [1]
 
“I am with you,” [2]
says the LORD. [1]
14 וַיָּ֣עַר יְהֹוָ֡ה [4] Pazer
אֶת־ר֩וּחַ֩ זְרֻבָּבֶ֨ל בֶּן־שַׁלְתִּיאֵ֜ל [4] Geresh
פַּחַ֣ת יְהוּדָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
וְאֶת־ר֙וּחַ֙ [3 3] Pashta
יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ בֶּן־יְהוֹצָדָק֙ [3] Pashta
הַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַגָּד֔וֹל [2] Zaqef
 
וְֽאֶת־ר֔וּחַ [2] Zaqef
כֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
שְׁאֵרִ֣ית הָעָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
וַיַּעֲשׂ֣וּ מְלָאכָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
בְּבֵית־יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

the remnant of the people; [1]
 
and they came [3 3]
and they worked [2]
 
on the house of the LORD of Hosts, [2]
their God, [1]
15 בְּי֨וֹם עֶשְׂרִ֧ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֛ה [3] Tevir
