וְיַלְדֵ֣י זְנוּנִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־זָנֹ֤ה תִזְנֶה֙ [3] Pashta
הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
מֵאַחֲרֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha

to Hosea, [3]
 
“Go, take for yourself [4]
a wife of prostitution [3]
and children of prostitution, [2]
 
for it prostitutes itself continually [3]
the land, [2]
 
from following [2]
the LORD.” [1]

יִזְרְעֶ֑אל [1] Etnachta
 
כִּי־ע֣וֹד מְעַ֗ט [3] Revi'i
 
וּפָ֨קַדְתִּ֜י [4] Geresh
אֶת־דְּמֵ֤י יִזְרְעֶאל֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־בֵּ֣ית יֵה֔וּא [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִ֨שְׁבַּתִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
מַמְלְכ֖וּת [2] Tip'cha
בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq

“Call his name [2]
Jezreel; [1]
 
for yet a little while, [3]
 
and I will avenge [4]
the blood of Jezreel [3]
on the house of Jehu, [2]
 
and I will put an end to [2]
the kingdom [2]
of the house of Israel. [1]
5 וְהָיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא [1] Etnachta
 
וְשָֽׁבַרְתִּי֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־קֶ֣שֶׁת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
בְּעֵ֖מֶק [2] Tip'cha
יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ [1] Silluq

in that day; [1]
 
that I will break [3]
the bow of Israel [2]
 
in the valley [2]
of Jezreel.” [1]
6 וַתַּ֤הַר עוֹד֙ [3] Pashta
וַתֵּ֣לֶד בַּ֔ת [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
קְרָ֥א שְׁמָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֣א רֻחָ֑מָה [1] Etnachta
 
כִּי֩ לֹ֨א אוֹסִ֜יף [4] Geresh
ע֗וֹד [3] Revi'i
 
אֲרַחֵם֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־נָשֹׂ֥א אֶשָּׂ֖א [2] Tip'cha
לָהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

and she bore a daughter, [2]
 
and he said to him, [2]
“Call her name [2]
Lo-Ruhamah; [1]
 
for I will no longer [4]
continue to [3]
 
have mercy on [3]
the house of Israel, [2]
 
that I should in any way pardon [2]
them. [1]
7 וְאֶת־בֵּ֤ית יְהוּדָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֲרַחֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְהוֹשַׁעְתִּ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
בַּיהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹ֣א אוֹשִׁיעֵ֗ם [3] Revi'i
בְּקֶ֤שֶׁת וּבְחֶ֙רֶב֙ [3 3] Pashta
וּבְמִלְחָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
בְּסוּסִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
וּבְפָרָשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq

I will have mercy, [2]
 
and I will save them [2]
by the LORD their God; [1]
 
and I will not save them [3]
by bow or by sword [3 3]
or by battle, [2]
 
by horses [2]
or by horsemen.” [1]

וַתֵּ֥לֶד בֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq

Lo-Ruhamah; [1]
 
and she conceived [2]
and she bore a son. [1]
9 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
קְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֣א עַמִּ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֤י אַתֶּם֙ [3] Pashta
לֹ֣א עַמִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְאָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לֹא־אֶהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

“Call his name [2]
Lo-Ammi; [1]
 
for you [3]
are not my people, [2]
 
and I [2]
I will not belong to you. [1]

אֲשֶׁר־יֵאָמֵ֤ר לָהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
לֹא־עַמִּ֣י אַתֶּ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
יֵאָמֵ֥ר לָהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
בְּנֵ֥י אֵֽל־חָֽי׃ [1] Silluq

the number of the children of Israel, [3]
like the sand of the sea, [2]
 
which can’t be measured [2]
and can't be counted; [1]
 
and it will come to pass [4 4]
in the place [4]
where it was said to them, [3]
‘You are not my people,’ [2]
 
they will be called [2]
‘sons of the living God.’ [1]

וְעָל֣וּ מִן־הָאָ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֥י גָד֖וֹל [2] Tip'cha
י֥וֹם יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ [1] Silluq

the children of Judah and the children of Israel [3]
together, [2]
 
and they will appoint for themselves [3]
one head, [2]
and they will go up from the land; [1]
 
for great [2]
will be the day of Jezreel. [1]

‘She has been given mercy!’ [1]
4 רִ֤יבוּ בְאִמְּכֶם֙ [3] Pashta

כִּי־הִיא֙ [3] Pashta
לֹ֣א אִשְׁתִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְאָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֣א אִישָׁ֑הּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְתָסֵ֤ר זְנוּנֶ֙יהָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
מִפָּנֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְנַאֲפוּפֶ֖יהָ [2] Tip'cha
מִבֵּ֥ין שָׁדֶֽיהָ׃ [1] Silluq

is not my wife, [2]

and let her remove her prostitution [3 3]
from before her, [2]
 
and her adulteries [2]

5 פֶּן־אַפְשִׁיטֶ֣נָּה עֲרֻמָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
וְהִ֨צַּגְתִּ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
כְּי֖וֹם [2] Tip'cha
הִוָּֽלְדָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְשַׂמְתִּ֣יהָ כַמִּדְבָּ֗ר [3] Revi'i
וְשַׁתִּ֙הָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
כְּאֶ֣רֶץ צִיָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַהֲמִתִּ֖יהָ [2] Tip'cha
בַּצָּמָֽא׃ [1] Silluq

and expose her [2]
as in the day [2]
she was born; [1]
 
and make her like a wilderness, [3]
and make her [3 3]
like a dry land, [2]
 
and kill her [2]
with thirst. [1]

לֹ֣א אֲרַחֵ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
כִּֽי־בְנֵ֥י זְנוּנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
הֵֽמָּה׃ [1] Silluq

I will not have mercy; [1]
 
for children of prostitution [2]
are they. [1]
7 כִּ֤י זָֽנְתָה֙ [3] Pashta
אִמָּ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
הֹבִ֖ישָׁה [2] Tip'cha
הוֹרָתָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֣י אָמְרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
אֵלְכָ֞ה [4] Gershayim
אַחֲרֵ֤י מְאַֽהֲבַי֙ [3] Pashta
 
נֹתְנֵ֤י לַחְמִי֙ [3] Pashta
וּמֵימַ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
צַמְרִ֣י וּפִשְׁתִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
שַׁמְנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
וְשִׁקּוּיָֽי׃ [1] Silluq

She has acted shamefully, [2]
the one who conceived them; [1]
 
for she said, [3]
 
‘I will go [4]
after my lovers, [3]
 
who give my food [3]
and my water, [2]
 
my wool and my flax, [2]
my oil [2]
and my drink.’ [1]

הִנְנִי־שָׂ֥ךְ אֶת־דַּרְכֵּ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
בַּסִּירִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְגָֽדַרְתִּי֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־גְּדֵרָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef
 
וּנְתִיבוֹתֶ֖יהָ [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א תִמְצָֽא׃ [1] Silluq

behold, I will hedge up your way [2]
with thorns; [1]
 
and I will build [3]
a wall against her, [2]
 
that her way [2]
she won’t find. [1]
9 וְרִדְּפָ֤ה אֶת־מְאַהֲבֶ֙יהָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
וְלֹא־תַשִּׂ֣יג אֹתָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וּבִקְשָׁ֖תַם [2] Tip'cha
וְלֹ֣א תִמְצָ֑א [1] Etnachta
 
וְאָמְרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
אֵלְכָ֤ה וְאָשׁ֙וּבָה֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶל־אִישִׁ֣י הָרִאשׁ֔וֹן [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֣י ט֥וֹב לִ֛י [3] Tevir
אָ֖ז [2] Tip'cha
מֵעָֽתָּה׃ [1] Silluq

but she won’t overtake them, [2]
 
and she will seek them [2]
but she won’t find them; [1]
 
then she will say, [3]
‘I will go and return [3 3]
to my former husband, [2]
 
for it was good for me [3]
then [2]
more than now.’ [1]

לֹ֣א יָֽדְעָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֤י אָנֹכִי֙ [3] Pashta
נָתַ֣תִּי לָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef
 
הַדָּגָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
וְהַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְהַיִּצְהָ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
וְכֶ֨סֶף הִרְבֵּ֥יתִי לָ֛הּ [3] Tevir
וְזָהָ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
עָשׂ֥וּ לַבָּֽעַל׃ [1] Silluq

she doesn’t know, [2]
 
that I, [3]
I gave her [2]
 
the grain [2]
and the new wine and the oil; [1]
 
and silver I multiplied to her [3]
and gold, [2]
which they used for Baal. [1]
11 לָכֵ֣ן אָשׁ֔וּב [2] Zaqef
 
וְלָקַחְתִּ֤י דְגָנִי֙ [3] Pashta
בְּעִתּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְתִירוֹשִׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha
בְּמוֹעֲד֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהִצַּלְתִּי֙ [3] Pashta
צַמְרִ֣י וּפִשְׁתִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
לְכַסּ֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־עֶרְוָתָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

and I will hold back my grain [3]
in its time [2]
 
and my new wine [2]
in its season; [1]
 
and I will take away [3]
my wool and my flax, [2]
 
that covered [2]
her nakedness. [1]

אֲגַלֶּ֥ה אֶת־נַבְלֻתָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
לְעֵינֵ֣י מְאַהֲבֶ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta
 
וְאִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha
לֹא־יַצִּילֶ֥נָּה מִיָּדִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

I will uncover her lewdness [2]
in the sight of her lovers; [1]
 
and (they) [2]
will not deliver her from my hand. [1]
13 וְהִשְׁבַּתִּי֙ [3] Pashta
כׇּל־מְשׂוֹשָׂ֔הּ [2] Zaqef
 
חַגָּ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
חׇדְשָׁ֣הּ וְשַׁבַּתָּ֑הּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְכֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
מוֹעֲדָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

all her celebrations, [2]
 
her festivals [2]
her new moons and her Sabbaths; [1]
 
and all [2]
her appointed feasts. [1]
14 וַהֲשִׁמֹּתִ֗י [3] Revi'i
גַּפְנָהּ֙ [3] Pashta
וּתְאֵ֣נָתָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמְרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
אֶתְנָ֥ה הֵ֙מָּה֙ [3 3] Pashta
לִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתְנוּ־לִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
מְאַהֲבָ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וְשַׂמְתִּ֣ים לְיַ֔עַר [2] Zaqef
וַאֲכָלָ֖תַם [2] Tip'cha
חַיַּ֥ת הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq

her vines [3]
and her fig trees, [2]
 
of which she said, [3]
‘They are wages [3 3]
of mine, [2]
 
which they gave to me, [2]
my lovers; [1]
 
and I will make them into a thicket,’ [2]
and they shall eat them, [2]
the animals of the field. [1]
15 וּפָקַדְתִּ֣י עָלֶ֗יהָ [3] Revi'i
אֶת־יְמֵ֤י הַבְּעָלִים֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר תַּקְטִ֣יר לָהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וַתַּ֤עַד נִזְמָהּ֙ [3] Pashta
וְחֶלְיָתָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef
 
וַתֵּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha
אַחֲרֵ֣י מְאַהֲבֶ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֹתִ֥י שָׁכְחָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

the days of the Baals [3]
when she burned incense to them, [2]
 
and she ornamented herself with her rings [3]
and her jewelry, [2]
 
and she went [2]
after her lovers; [1]
 
and me she forgot,” [2]
says the LORD. [1]

הִנֵּ֤ה אָנֹכִי֙ [3] Pashta
מְפַתֶּ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְהֹלַכְתִּ֖יהָ [2] Tip'cha
הַמִּדְבָּ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
וְדִבַּרְתִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
עַל־לִבָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

behold, I [3]
will allure her, [2]
 
and I will lead her [2]
into the wilderness; [1]
 
and I will speak [2]
tenderly to her. [1]
17 וְנָתַ֨תִּי לָ֤הּ אֶת־כְּרָמֶ֙יהָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
מִשָּׁ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֶת־עֵ֥מֶק עָכ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
לְפֶ֣תַח תִּקְוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְעָ֤נְתָה שָּׁ֙מָּה֙ [3 3] Pashta
כִּימֵ֣י נְעוּרֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
 
וּכְי֖וֹם [2] Tip'cha
עֲלוֹתָ֥הּ מֵאֶרֶץ־מִצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 2 15 And I will give to her her vineyards [3 3]
from there, [2]
 
and the valley of Achor [2]
for a door of hope; [1]
 
and she will respond there [3 3]
as in the days of her youth, [2]
 
and as in the day [2]
she went up from the land of Egypt. [1]
18 וְהָיָ֤ה בַיּוֹם־הַהוּא֙ [3] Pashta
נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
תִּקְרְאִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אִישִׁ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹא־תִקְרְאִי־לִ֥י ע֖וֹד [2] Tip'cha
בַּעְלִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 16 And it will be in that day,” [3]
says the LORD, [2]
 
“you will call me [2]
‘my husband,’ [1]
 
and no longer will you call me [2]
‘my master.’ [1]
19 וַהֲסִרֹתִ֛י [3] Tevir
אֶת־שְׁמ֥וֹת הַבְּעָלִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
מִפִּ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹא־יִזָּכְר֥וּ ע֖וֹד [2] Tip'cha
בִּשְׁמָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 17 And I will take away [3]
the names of the Baals [2]
from her mouth; [1]
 
and they will no longer be remembered [2]
by their name. [1]
20 וְכָרַתִּ֨י לָהֶ֤ם בְּרִית֙ [3] Pashta
בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא [2] Zaqef
 
עִם־חַיַּ֤ת הַשָּׂדֶה֙ [3] Pashta
וְעִם־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
וְרֶ֖מֶשׂ [2] Tip'cha
הָאֲדָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְקֶ֨שֶׁת וְחֶ֤רֶב וּמִלְחָמָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֶשְׁבּ֣וֹר מִן־הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִשְׁכַּבְתִּ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
לָבֶֽטַח׃ [1] Silluq
