1 The word of the LORD [4] which came [3] the son of Beeri, [2] Ahaz, Hezekiah, [2] kings of Judah; [1] of Jeroboam the son of Joash, [2] king of Israel. [1] |

2 תְּחִלַּ֥ת דִּבֶּר־יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בְּהוֹשֵׁ֑עַ [1] Etnachta פ אֶל־הוֹשֵׁ֗עַ [3] Revi'i אֵ֤שֶׁת זְנוּנִים֙ [3] Pashta וְיַלְדֵ֣י זְנוּנִ֔ים [2] Zaqef הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 When the LORD first spoke [2] by Hosea; [1] ¶ to Hosea, [3] a wife of prostitution [3] and children of prostitution, [2] the land, [2] the LORD.” [1] |

3 וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta וַיִּקַּ֔ח [2] Zaqef בַּת־דִּבְלָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta בֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
3 So he went [3 3] and he took [2] the daughter of Diblaim; [1] a son. [1] |

4 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta אֵלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef יִזְרְעֶ֑אל [1] Etnachta אֶת־דְּמֵ֤י יִזְרְעֶאל֙ [3] Pashta עַל־בֵּ֣ית יֵה֔וּא [2] Zaqef מַמְלְכ֖וּת [2] Tip'cha בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq |
4 And the LORD said [3] to him, [2] Jezreel; [1] the blood of Jezreel [3] on the house of Jehu, [2] the kingdom [2] of the house of Israel. [1] |

5 וְהָיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא [1] Etnachta אֶת־קֶ֣שֶׁת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ [1] Silluq |
5 And it will happen [2] in that day; [1] the bow of Israel [2] of Jezreel.” [1] |

6 וַתַּ֤הַר עוֹד֙ [3] Pashta וַתֵּ֣לֶד בַּ֔ת [2] Zaqef קְרָ֥א שְׁמָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha לֹ֣א רֻחָ֑מָה [1] Etnachta ע֗וֹד [3] Revi'i אֶת־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef לָהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
6 And she conceived again [3] and she bore a daughter, [2] “Call her name [2] Lo-Ruhamah; [1] continue to [3] the house of Israel, [2] them. [1] |

7 וְאֶת־בֵּ֤ית יְהוּדָה֙ [3] Pashta אֲרַחֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef בַּיהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta בְּקֶ֤שֶׁת וּבְחֶ֙רֶב֙ [3 3] Pashta וּבְמִלְחָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef וּבְפָרָשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq |
7 But on the house of Judah [3] I will have mercy, [2] by the LORD their God; [1] by bow or by sword [3 3] or by battle, [2] or by horsemen.” [1] |

8 וַתִּגְמֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha אֶת־לֹ֣א רֻחָ֑מָה [1] Etnachta וַתֵּ֥לֶד בֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And she weaned [2] Lo-Ruhamah; [1] and she bore a son. [1] |

9 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG קְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha לֹ֣א עַמִּ֑י [1] Etnachta לֹ֣א עַמִּ֔י [2] Zaqef לֹא־אֶהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq פ |
9 And he said, [2] “Call his name [2] Lo-Ammi; [1] are not my people, [2] I will not belong to you. [1] ¶ |

1 וְֽ֠הָיָ֠ה [4 4] TelishaG מִסְפַּ֤ר בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Pashta כְּח֣וֹל הַיָּ֔ם [2] Zaqef וְלֹ֣א יִסָּפֵ֑ר [1] Etnachta בִּמְק֞וֹם [4] Gershayim אֲשֶׁר־יֵאָמֵ֤ר לָהֶם֙ [3] Pashta לֹא־עַמִּ֣י אַתֶּ֔ם [2] Zaqef בְּנֵ֥י אֵֽל־חָֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
10 Yet it will be, [4 4] the number of the children of Israel, [3] like the sand of the sea, [2] and can't be counted; [1] in the place [4] where it was said to them, [3] ‘You are not my people,’ [2] ‘sons of the living God.’ [1] |

11 And they will be gathered, [4 4] the children of Judah and the children of Israel [3] together, [2] one head, [2] and they will go up from the land; [1] will be the day of Jezreel. [1] |

2 Contend with your mother! [3] Contend, [2] is not my wife, [2] am not her husband; [1] from before her, [2] from between her breasts, [1] |

5 פֶּן־אַפְשִׁיטֶ֣נָּה עֲרֻמָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef וְהִ֨צַּגְתִּ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef כְּי֖וֹם [2] Tip'cha הִוָּֽלְדָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta וְשַׁתִּ֙הָ֙ [3 3] Pashta כְּאֶ֣רֶץ צִיָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef בַּצָּמָֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
3 Lest I strip her naked [2] and expose her [2] as in the day [2] she was born; [1] and make her [3 3] like a dry land, [2] with thirst. [1] |

6 וְאֶת־בָּנֶ֖יהָ [2] Tip'cha לֹ֣א אֲרַחֵ֑ם [1] Etnachta הֵֽמָּה׃ [1] Silluq |
4 And on her children [2] I will not have mercy; [1] are they. [1] |

7 כִּ֤י זָֽנְתָה֙ [3] Pashta אִמָּ֔ם [2] Zaqef הוֹרָתָ֑ם [1] Etnachta אַחֲרֵ֤י מְאַֽהֲבַי֙ [3] Pashta וּמֵימַ֔י [2] Zaqef שַׁמְנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha וְשִׁקּוּיָֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
5 For she has prostituted herself, [3] their mother. [2] the one who conceived them; [1] after my lovers, [3] and my water, [2] my oil [2] and my drink.’ [1] |

8 לָכֵ֛ן [3] Tevir הִנְנִי־שָׂ֥ךְ אֶת־דַּרְכֵּ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha בַּסִּירִ֑ים [1] Etnachta אֶת־גְּדֵרָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef לֹ֥א תִמְצָֽא׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Therefore [3] behold, I will hedge up your way [2] with thorns; [1] a wall against her, [2] she won’t find. [1] |

9 וְרִדְּפָ֤ה אֶת־מְאַהֲבֶ֙יהָ֙ [3 3] Pashta וְלֹא־תַשִּׂ֣יג אֹתָ֔ם [2] Zaqef וְלֹ֣א תִמְצָ֑א [1] Etnachta אֵלְכָ֤ה וְאָשׁ֙וּבָה֙ [3 3] Pashta אֶל־אִישִׁ֣י הָרִאשׁ֔וֹן [2] Zaqef אָ֖ז [2] Tip'cha מֵעָֽתָּה׃ [1] Silluq |
7 And she will pursue her lovers [3 3] but she won’t overtake them, [2] but she won’t find them; [1] ‘I will go and return [3 3] to my former husband, [2] then [2] more than now.’ [1] |

10 וְהִיא֙ [3] Pashta לֹ֣א יָֽדְעָ֔ה [2] Zaqef נָתַ֣תִּי לָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef וְהַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְהַיִּצְהָ֑ר [1] Etnachta וְזָהָ֖ב [2] Tip'cha עָשׂ֥וּ לַבָּֽעַל׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And she, [3] she doesn’t know, [2] I gave her [2] and the new wine and the oil; [1] and gold, [2] which they used for Baal. [1] |

11 לָכֵ֣ן אָשׁ֔וּב [2] Zaqef בְּעִתּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef בְּמוֹעֲד֑וֹ [1] Etnachta צַמְרִ֣י וּפִשְׁתִּ֔י [2] Zaqef אֶת־עֶרְוָתָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
9 Therefore I will turn, [2] in its time [2] in its season; [1] my wool and my flax, [2] her nakedness. [1] |

12 וְעַתָּ֛ה [3] Tevir אֲגַלֶּ֥ה אֶת־נַבְלֻתָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha לְעֵינֵ֣י מְאַהֲבֶ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta לֹא־יַצִּילֶ֥נָּה מִיָּדִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
10 And now [3] I will uncover her lewdness [2] in the sight of her lovers; [1] will not deliver her from my hand. [1] |

13 וְהִשְׁבַּתִּי֙ [3] Pashta כׇּל־מְשׂוֹשָׂ֔הּ [2] Zaqef חׇדְשָׁ֣הּ וְשַׁבַּתָּ֑הּ [1] Etnachta מוֹעֲדָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 And I will put an end to [3] all her celebrations, [2] her new moons and her Sabbaths; [1] her appointed feasts. [1] |

14 וַהֲשִׁמֹּתִ֗י [3] Revi'i גַּפְנָהּ֙ [3] Pashta וּתְאֵ֣נָתָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef אֶתְנָ֥ה הֵ֙מָּה֙ [3 3] Pashta לִ֔י [2] Zaqef מְאַהֲבָ֑י [1] Etnachta וַאֲכָלָ֖תַם [2] Tip'cha חַיַּ֥ת הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
12 And I will devastate [3] her vines [3] and her fig trees, [2] ‘They are wages [3 3] of mine, [2] my lovers; [1] and they shall eat them, [2] the animals of the field. [1] |

15 וּפָקַדְתִּ֣י עָלֶ֗יהָ [3] Revi'i אֶת־יְמֵ֤י הַבְּעָלִים֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר תַּקְטִ֣יר לָהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef וְחֶלְיָתָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef אַחֲרֵ֣י מְאַהֲבֶ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq ס |
13 And I will visit on her, [3] the days of the Baals [3] when she burned incense to them, [2] and her jewelry, [2] after her lovers; [1] says the LORD. [1] § |

16 לָכֵ֗ן [3] Revi'i הִנֵּ֤ה אָנֹכִי֙ [3] Pashta מְפַתֶּ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef הַמִּדְבָּ֑ר [1] Etnachta עַל־לִבָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 “Therefore [3] behold, I [3] will allure her, [2] into the wilderness; [1] tenderly to her. [1] |

17 וְנָתַ֨תִּי לָ֤הּ אֶת־כְּרָמֶ֙יהָ֙ [3 3] Pashta מִשָּׁ֔ם [2] Zaqef לְפֶ֣תַח תִּקְוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta כִּימֵ֣י נְעוּרֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef עֲלוֹתָ֥הּ מֵאֶרֶץ־מִצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq |
15 And I will give to her her vineyards [3 3] from there, [2] for a door of hope; [1] as in the days of her youth, [2] she went up from the land of Egypt. [1] |

18 וְהָיָ֤ה בַיּוֹם־הַהוּא֙ [3] Pashta נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef אִישִׁ֑י [1] Etnachta בַּעְלִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
16 And it will be in that day,” [3] says the LORD, [2] ‘my husband,’ [1] ‘my master.’ [1] |

19 וַהֲסִרֹתִ֛י [3] Tevir אֶת־שְׁמ֥וֹת הַבְּעָלִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha מִפִּ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta בִּשְׁמָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
17 And I will take away [3] the names of the Baals [2] from her mouth; [1] by their name. [1] |

20 וְכָרַתִּ֨י לָהֶ֤ם בְּרִית֙ [3] Pashta בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא [2] Zaqef וְעִם־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef הָאֲדָמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta אֶשְׁבּ֣וֹר מִן־הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef לָבֶֽטַח׃ [1] Silluq |
18 And I will make for them a covenant [3] in that day, [2] and with the birds of the heavens, [2] of the ground; [1] I will break from the land, [2] in safety. [1] |

21 וְאֵרַשְׂתִּ֥יךְ לִ֖י [2] Tip'cha לְעוֹלָ֑ם [1] Etnachta בְּצֶ֣דֶק וּבְמִשְׁפָּ֔ט [2] Zaqef וּֽבְרַחֲמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
19 And I will betroth you to myself [2] forever; [1] in righteousness and in justice, [2] and in compassion. [1] |

22 וְאֵרַשְׂתִּ֥יךְ לִ֖י [2] Tip'cha בֶּאֱמוּנָ֑ה [1] Etnachta אֶת־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq פ |
20 And I will betroth you to myself [2] in faithfulness; [1] the LORD. [1] ¶ |

23 וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ [4] Legarmeh בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא [3] Revi'i נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֶת־הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta יַעֲנ֥וּ אֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
21 And it will be [4] in that day, [3] says the LORD, [2] the heavens; [1] they will answer to the earth, [1] |

24 וְהָאָ֣רֶץ תַּעֲנֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֶת־הַדָּגָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha וְאֶת־הַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְאֶת־הַיִּצְהָ֑ר [1] Etnachta יַעֲנ֥וּ אֶֽת־יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ [1] Silluq |
22 and the earth, it will answer to [2] the grain [2] and the new wine and the oil; [1] they will answer to Jezreel. [1] |

25 וּזְרַעְתִּ֤יהָ לִּי֙ [3] Pashta בָּאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef אֶת־לֹ֣א רֻחָ֑מָה [1] Etnachta עַמִּי־אַ֔תָּה [2] Zaqef יֹאמַ֥ר אֱלֹהָֽי׃ [1] Silluq פ |
23 And I will sow her for myself [3] in the land, [2] her who had not obtained mercy; [1] ‘You are my people.’ [2] he will say, ‘My God!’ ” [1] ¶ |

1 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה [4] Geresh אֵלַ֗י [3] Revi'i לֵ֣ךְ אֱֽהַב־אִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef וּמְנָאָ֑פֶת [1] Etnachta אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef פֹּנִים֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef אֲשִׁישֵׁ֥י עֲנָבִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
1 And the LORD said [4] to me, [3] go love a woman, [2] and who commits adultery; [1] the children of Israel, [2] turn [3] to other gods [2] cakes of raisins.” [1] |

2 וָאֶכְּרֶ֣הָ לִּ֔י [2] Zaqef בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֥ה עָשָׂ֖ר [2] Tip'cha כָּ֑סֶף [1] Etnachta וְלֵ֥תֶךְ שְׂעֹרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
2 So I bought her for myself [2] for fifteen [2] pieces of silver; [1] and a lethech of barley. [1] |

3 וָאֹמַ֣ר אֵלֶ֗יהָ [3] Revi'i יָמִ֤ים רַבִּים֙ [3] Pashta תֵּ֣שְׁבִי לִ֔י [2] Zaqef וְלֹ֥א תִֽהְיִ֖י [2] Tip'cha לְאִ֑ישׁ [1] Etnachta אֵלָֽיִךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
3 And I said to her, [3] “Many days [3] you shall stay with me, [2] and you shall not belong [2] to any other man; [1] to you.” [1] |

4 כִּ֣י ׀ [4] Legarmeh יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֗ים [3] Revi'i בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef וְאֵ֣ין שָׂ֔ר [2] Zaqef וְאֵ֣ין מַצֵּבָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וּתְרָפִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
4 For [4] many days [3] the children of Israel, [2] and without prince, [2] and without sacred stone; [1] or household idols. [1] |

5 אַחַ֗ר [3] Revi'i יָשֻׁ֙בוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef אֶת־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef דָּוִ֣יד מַלְכָּ֑ם [1] Etnachta וְאֶל־טוּב֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית הַיָּמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq פ |
5 Afterward [3] they shall return, [3 3] the children of Israel, [2] the LORD their God, [2] David their king; [1] and to his blessings [2] in the last days. [1] ¶ |

1 שִׁמְע֥וּ דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta עִם־יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef אֵין־אֱמֶ֧ת וְֽאֵין־חֶ֛סֶד [3] Tevir וְאֵֽין־דַּ֥עַת אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Hear the word of the LORD [2] O children of Israel; [1] against the inhabitants of the land, [2] there is no faithfulness and there is no lovingkindness [3] and there is no knowledge of God [2] in the land. [1] |

2 אָלֹ֣ה וְכַחֵ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef וְרָצֹ֥חַ וְגָנֹ֖ב [2] Tip'cha וְנָאֹ֑ף [1] Etnachta וְדָמִ֥ים בְּדָמִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha נָגָֽעוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
2 Cursing and deceiving, [2] and murder and stealing [2] and committing adultery; [1] and blood against blood [2] they have touched. [1] |

3 עַל־כֵּ֣ן ׀ [4] Legarmeh תֶּאֱבַ֣ל הָאָ֗רֶץ [3] Revi'i כׇּל־יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בָּ֔הּ [2] Zaqef וּבְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta יֵאָסֵֽפוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
3 Therefore [4] the land will dry up, [3] everyone who dwells in it, [2] and with the birds of the sky; [1] they will be removed. [1] |

4 אַ֥ךְ אִ֛ישׁ [3] Tevir אַל־יָרֵ֖ב [2] Tip'cha וְאַל־יוֹכַ֣ח אִ֑ישׁ [1] Etnachta כִּמְרִיבֵ֥י כֹהֵֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
4 Yet any man [3] let him not bring a charge, [2] and let him not accuse; [1] are like those who bring charges against a priest. [1] |

5 וְכָשַׁלְתָּ֣ הַיּ֔וֹם [2] Zaqef עִמְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha לָ֑יְלָה [1] Etnachta אִמֶּֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
5 So you will stumble by day, [2] with you [2] by night; [1] your mother. [1] |

6 נִדְמ֥וּ עַמִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha מִבְּלִ֣י הַדָּ֑עַת [1] Etnachta הַדַּ֣עַת מָאַ֗סְתָּ [3] Revi'i מִכַּהֵ֣ן לִ֔י [2] Zaqef תּוֹרַ֣ת אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef גַּם־אָֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq |
6 My people have been destroyed [2] from lack of knowledge. [1] the knowledge you have rejected, [3] from serving as priest to me, [2] the law of your God, [2] also I. [1] |

7 כְּרֻבָּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha כֵּ֣ן חָטְאוּ־לִ֑י [1] Etnachta בְּקָל֥וֹן אָמִֽיר׃ [1] Silluq |
7 As they were multiplied, [2] so they sinned against me; [1] I will change into shame. [1] |

8 חַטַּ֥את עַמִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha יֹאכֵ֑לוּ [1] Etnachta יִשְׂא֥וּ נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |

7 And my people are determined [2] to turn from me; [1] they call on him, [2] he will not exalt them. [1] |

1 Ephraim [4] is feeding on wind, [3 3] and is pursuing an east wind. [2] falsehood and violence [2] he multiplies; [1] with Assyria they are making, [2] to Egypt it is carried. [1] |

7 A merchant [3] has in his hand [3] dishonest scales. [2] He loves to defraud. [1] |

8 And Ephraim has said, [2] “Surely I have become rich, [2] I have found wealth [2] for myself. [1] people won’t find against me [2] any iniquity that is sin.” [1] |

9 “But I [3] have been the LORD your God, [2] from the land of Egypt. [1] I will make you dwell in tents, [2] as in the days of an appointed feast. [1] |
