[1] Merkha Silluq |
1 For the LORD will have compassion on [4] Jacob [3] Israel, [2] in their own land; [1] with them, [2] to the house of Jacob. [1] |
2 And the peoples will take them [3] and they will escort them to their place, [2] in [3] the land of the LORD, [2] and as handmaids; [1] take captive their captors, [2] over their oppressors. [1] § |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
3 Now [3] in the day when the LORD gives rest [3] to you [2] and from your turmoil; [1] you were forced to do, [1] |
4 you will take up [4] this taunt [3] against the king of Babylon [2] and you will say; [1] the taskmaster has ceased! [2] the raging [oppressor, exacter of gold!]” [1] |
[1] Silluq |
5 The LORD has broken [2] the rod of the wicked; [1] of the rulers, [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
6 which struck the people [3] in wrath [2] not ceasing; [1] the nations, [2] that none restrained. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
7 It is at rest, it is quiet [2] the whole earth; [1] into shouts of joy. [1] |
8 Even the cypress trees, [3] they rejoice over you, [2] along with the cedars of Lebanon; [1] no woodcutter comes up [2] against us.” [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
9 Sheol [3] from below, [3] it is excited about you, [2] to meet your coming; [1] all the leaders of the earth, [2] from their thrones [2] the kings of the nations. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
10 All of them, they answer [2] and they say [2] to you; [1] you have been made weak like us, [2] you have become like us.” [1] |
11 It is brought down to Sheol, [3] your pomp [2] (and) the sound of your harps; [1] maggots are spread out as a bed, [2] is worms. [1] |
12 How [3] you have fallen from heaven [2] O shining one, son of the dawn! [1] O conqueror [2] of the nations! [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
13 And you, [4] you said in your heart, [3] “I will ascend to heaven, [2] I will exalt my throne; [1] in the remotest parts of the north. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
14 I will ascend [2] above the heights of the clouds; [1] the Most High.” [1] |
[1] Silluq |
15 Yet to Sheol [3] you are brought down, [2] to the depths of the pit. [1] |
16 Those who see you, [3] they will stare at you, [2] they will ponder; [1] who made the earth tremble, [2] kingdoms, [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
17 who made the world [3] like a wilderness, [2] and its cities he destroyed; [1] he opened not the house?” [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
18 All the kings of the nations, [2] all of them; [1] each in his own house. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
19 But you, [4] you are cast out of your tomb [3] like a discarded branch, [2] who are pierced with a sword; [1] like a corpse trodden underfoot. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
20 You will not be joined with them [3] in burial, [2] your people you have slain; [1] the offspring of evildoers. [1] |
21 Prepare for his sons [3] a place of slaughter, [2] for the iniquity of their fathers; [1] and possess the land, [2] with cities. [1] |
22 “For I will rise up against them,” [2] says [2] the LORD of Hosts; [1] name and remnant, [3] and offspring and descendants,” [2] says the LORD. [1] |
23 “And I will make it [3] a possession of hedgehogs, [2] and pools of water; [1] with the broom of destruction,” [2] the LORD of Hosts. [1] § |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
24 He has sworn, [3] the LORD of Hosts, [2] saying; [1] just as I have planned, [3] so shall it be, [2] it, it shall stand: [1] |
25 To break Assyria [3] in my land, [2] I will tread him down; [1] his yoke, [2] from their shoulder [2] it will be removed. [1] |
26 This [3] is the purpose that is purposed [2] for the whole earth; [1] is the hand which is stretched out [2] over all the nations. [1] |
27 For the LORD of Hosts, [3] he has purposed, [2] so who can stop it? [1] who can turn it back?” [1] ¶ |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
28 In the year of the death [2] of the king Ahaz; [1] this oracle. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
29 Do not rejoice O Philistia, [3] all of you, [2] the rod of the one who struck you; [1] a viper will emerge, [2] will be a flying serpent. [1] |
30 And they will graze, [3] the firstborn of the poor, [2] will lie down in safety; [1] your root, [2] it will kill. [1] |
31 Wail O gate! [3] Cry out, O city! [2] O Philistia, all of you; [1] smoke is coming, [2] in his ranks. [1] |
32 And what does one answer [2] the messengers of a nation? [1] he has founded Zion, [2] the afflicted of his people. [1] ¶ |
