1 “Woe to the rebellious children,” [3] says the LORD, [2] but not Mine, [2] but not of my Spirit; [1] add sin [2] to sin, [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
2 who set out [3] to go down to Egypt, [2] they have not consulted; [1] in the protection of Pharaoh, [2] in the shadow of Egypt! [1] |
3 So it will become to you, [3] the protection of Pharaoh, [2] a humiliation; [1] a disgrace. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
4 For though they are at Zoan, [2] their princes; [1] they reach Hanes, [1] |
5 they shall all be ashamed [2] of a people [2] who cannot profit them; [1] and not for profit, [2] and also for disgrace.” [1] § |
| 6 מַשָּׂ֖א [2] Tip'cha בַּהֲמ֣וֹת נֶ֑גֶב [1] Munach Etnachta לָבִ֧יא וָלַ֣יִשׁ מֵהֶ֗ם [3] Darga Munach Revi'a וְשָׂרָ֣ף מְעוֹפֵ֔ף [2] Munach Zaqef חֵילֵהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'a אֽוֹצְרֹתָ֔ם [2] Zaqef לֹ֥א יוֹעִֽילוּ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq |
6 The burden [2] concerning the beasts of the Negev; [1] from which are lioness and lion, [3] and flying serpent, [2] their riches, [3] their treasures, [2] which cannot profit them. [1] |
7 For Egypt, [2] in vain and to no purpose [2] they help; [1] I have said of this one, [2] is to just sit. [1] |
| 8 עַתָּ֗ה [3] Revi'a בּ֣וֹא כׇתְבָ֥הּ עַל־ל֛וּחַ [3] Munach Merkha Tevir אִתָּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha וְעַל־סֵ֣פֶר חֻקָּ֑הּ [1] Munach Etnachta לְי֣וֹם אַחֲר֔וֹן [2] Munach Zaqef עַד־עוֹלָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
8 Now [3] go write it on a tablet [3] for them, [2] and on a scroll inscribe it; [1] for a day to come (as a witness) [2] and ever. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
9 For a rebellious people [3] it is, [2] lying; [1] unwilling to hear [2] the law of the LORD, [1] |
10 who say to the seers, [3] “Do not see,” [2] “Do not prophesy to us [2] what is right; [1] prophesy [2] deceptions. [1] |
11 Turn away [3] from the way, [2] from the path; [1] the Holy One of Israel.” [1] § |
| 12 לָכֵ֗ן [3] Revi'a כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta קְד֣וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Munach Zaqef בַּדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה [1] Munach Etnachta בְּעֹ֣שֶׁק וְנָל֔וֹז [2] Munach Zaqef עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
12 Therefore [3] thus he says, [3] the Holy One of Israel, [2] this word; [1] in oppression and perverseness, [2] on it, [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
13 therefore [3] it shall be to you, [3] this iniquity, [2] bulging [2] in a high wall; [1] its collapse comes. [1] |
14 And its breaking [4] will be like the breaking of a potter’s vessel, [3] smashed [2] so ruthlessly; [1] a shard [2] from the hearth, [2] from the cistern.” [1] § |
| 15 כִּ֣י כֹֽה־אָמַר֩ אֲדֹנָ֨י יֱהֹוִ֜ה [4] Munach TelishaQ Qadma Geresh קְד֣וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל [3] Munach Revi'a תִּוָּ֣שֵׁע֔וּן [2] Munach Zaqef וּבְבִטְחָ֔ה [2] Zaqef גְּבֽוּרַתְכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta אֲבִיתֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
15 For thus says the Lord GOD [4] the Holy One of Israel, [3] you are saved, [2] and in trust [2] your strength;” [1] were you willing. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
16 But you said, “No, for [3] on horses we will flee,” [2] therefore you will flee; [1] therefore [2] swift will be those who pursue you. [1] |
| 17 אֶ֣לֶף אֶחָ֗ד [3] Munach Revi'a מִפְּנֵי֙ [3] Pashta גַּעֲרַ֣ת אֶחָ֔ד [2] Munach Zaqef גַּעֲרַ֥ת חֲמִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha תָּנֻ֑סוּ [1] Etnachta כַּתֹּ֙רֶן֙ [3] Pashta עַל־רֹ֣אשׁ הָהָ֔ר [2] Munach Zaqef עַל־הַגִּבְעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
17 One thousand (will flee) [3] at [3] the threat of one, [2] the threat of five, [2] you will flee; [1] like a flag [3] on the top of a mountain, [2] on a hill. [1] |
18 And therefore [4] the LORD waits [3] to be gracious to you, [2] to show mercy to you; [1] is the LORD, [2] are all those who wait for him. [1] ¶ |
19 O people [3] in Zion who dwell [2] in Jerusalem; [1] he will surely be gracious to you [3] at the sound of your cry, [2] he will answer you. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
20 Though the Lord gives you [3] the bread of adversity [2] and the water of affliction; [1] your teachers, [2] seeing your teachers, [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
21 and your ears, [3] they will hear a word [2] saying; [1] walk in it,” [2] or when you turn to the left. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
22 and you shall defile [3] the overlaying [3] of your graven images of silver, [2] of your metal images of gold; [1] like a menstrual cloth, [2] you shall say to it. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
23 Then he will give rain for your seed [4] with which you will sow the ground, [3] the produce of the ground, [2] and plentiful; [1] in that day, [2] a wide-open pasture. [1] |
| 24 וְהָאֲלָפִ֣ים וְהָעֲיָרִ֗ים [3] Munach Revi'a עֹֽבְדֵי֙ [3] Pashta הָאֲדָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef יֹאכֵ֑לוּ [1] Etnachta וּבַמִּזְרֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
24 And the oxen and the young donkeys [3] that till [3] the ground, [2] they will eat; [1] and with pitchfork. [1] |
| 25 וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ [4] Munach Legarmeh עַל־כׇּל־הַ֣ר גָּבֹ֗הַּ [3] Munach Revi'a כׇּל־גִּבְעָ֣ה נִשָּׂאָ֔ה [2] Munach Zaqef יִבְלֵי־מָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta הֶ֣רֶג רָ֔ב [2] Munach Zaqef מִגְדָּלִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
25 And there will be [4] on every high mountain [3] every lofty hill, [2] running with water; [1] of great slaughter, [2] the towers. [1] |
26 And the light of the moon will be [3] like the light of the sun, [2] it will be seven times (brighter), [2] of seven days; [1] that the LORD binds up [3] the brokenness of his people, [2] he heals. [1] ¶ |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
27 Behold, the name of the LORD [3] comes from afar, [2] and thick [2] is the rising (smoke); [1] they are full of indignation, [2] like a consuming fire, [1] |

29 Songs [3] you will have [2] of keeping a holy festival; [1] like one walking [3] with the flute [2] to the Rock of Israel. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
30 And the LORD will let (it) be heard [4] his majestic voice, [3] he will let (it) be seen, [2] and the flame [2] of a consuming fire; [1] and hailstones. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
31 For at the voice of the LORD [2] Assyria will be terrified; [1] he strikes. [1] |
