| 1 רְדִ֣י ׀ [4] Munach Legarmeh וּשְׁבִ֣י עַל־עָפָ֗ר [3] Munach Revi'a בַּת־בָּבֶ֔ל [2] Zaqef בַּת־כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים [1] Etnachta יִקְרְאוּ־לָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef וַעֲנֻגָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
1 “Come down [4] and sit in the dust [3] daughter of Babylon, [2] O daughter of the Chaldeans; [1] will you be called [2] and delicate. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
2 Take the millstones [2] and grind flour; [1] uncover the leg, [2] pass through rivers. [1] |
3 Let it be uncovered, [3] your nakedness, [2] your shame; [1] and I will not spare [2] anyone.” [1] ¶ |
[1] Silluq |
4 Our Redeemer, [2] the LORD of Hosts [2] is his name; [1] of Israel. [1] |
5 “Sit in silence [3] and go into darkness, [2] O daughter of the Chaldeans; [1] will you be called [2] of kingdoms. [1] |
| 6 קָצַ֣פְתִּי עַל־עַמִּ֗י [3] Munach Revi'a חִלַּ֙לְתִּי֙ [3] Pashta נַחֲלָתִ֔י [2] Zaqef בְּיָדֵ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta רַחֲמִ֔ים [2] Zaqef הִכְבַּ֥דְתְּ עֻלֵּ֖ךְ [2] Merkha Tip'cha מְאֹֽד׃ [1] Silluq |
6 I was angry with my people. [3] I profaned [3] my inheritance, [2] into your hand; [1] mercy. [2] you made heavy your yoke, [2] exceedingly. [1] |
7 And you said, [2] ‘Forever [2] I will be a queen.’ [1] to your heart, [2] its end.” [1] ¶ |
8 “Now therefore [4] hear this, lover of pleasures, [3] dwelling securely, [2] in her heart, [2] and only I am; [1] as a widow, [2] the loss of children.’ [1] |
9 But both of these things will come to you in a moment [3] in one day, [2] the loss of children and widowhood; [1] they will come upon you, [2] in the power of your spells [2] very many. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
10 For you felt secure in your wickedness. [3] You said, [3] ‘No one sees me.’ [2] it, it led you astray; [1] ‘I [2] and only I am.’ [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
11 But calamity will come upon you, [3] you won’t know [3] how to charm it away, [2] disaster. [2] cover it; [1] catastrophe [2] which you cannot foresee. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
12 Stand fast in your enchantments [3] and your many sorceries, [2] from your youth; [1] you'll be able to profit, [2] perhaps you will cause terror? [1] |
| 13 נִלְאֵ֖ית [2] Tip'cha בְּרֹ֣ב עֲצָתָ֑יִךְ [1] Munach Etnachta *הברו **הֹבְרֵ֣י שָׁמַ֗יִם [3] Munach Revi'a בַּכּ֣וֹכָבִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef לֶחֳדָשִׁ֔ים [2] Zaqef עָלָֽיִךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
13 You've become weary [2] of the abundance of your consultations; [1] the astrologers, [3] on the stars, [2] by new moons - [2] upon you. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
14 Behold, they shall be like stubble, [3] fire will consume them, [2] from the power of the flame; [1] or a fire [2] to sit before! [1] |
15 This is what they have become for you, [2] those with whom you have labored; [1] each in his own direction [3] they will wander. [2] be a deliverer.” [1] § |
