1 אָ֭דָם [3] Dechi
יְל֣וּד אִשָּׁ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
קְצַ֥ר יָ֝מִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וּֽשְׂבַֽע־רֹֽגֶז׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 1 “Man, [3]
born of woman; [2]
 
is few of days [2]
and full of trouble. [1]
2 כְּצִ֣יץ יָ֭צָא [3] Dechi
וַיִּמָּ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וַיִּבְרַ֥ח כַּ֝צֵּ֗ל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְלֹ֣א יַעֲמֽוֹד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 Like a flower he comes forth [3]
and he withers; [2]
 
and like a shadow he flees, [2]
and he doesn’t remain. [1]
3 אַף־עַל־זֶ֭ה [3] Dechi
פָּקַ֣חְתָּ עֵינֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְאֹ֘תִ֤י תָבִ֖יא בְמִשְׁפָּ֣ט [2] VRevMug
עִמָּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 Indeed on such a one [3]
do you fix your eyes; [2]
 
and do you bring me into judgment [2]
with yourself? [1]
4 מִֽי־יִתֵּ֣ן טָ֭הוֹר [3] Dechi
מִטָּמֵ֗א [3/2] Revi'i
לֹ֣א אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 Who can make a pure thing [3]
from the impure? [3/2]
Not one. [1]
5 אִ֥ם חֲרוּצִ֨ים ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
יָמָ֗יו [3] Revi'i
מִֽסְפַּר־חֳדָשָׁ֥יו אִתָּ֑ךְ [2] Etnachta
 
חֻקָּ֥ו עָ֝שִׂ֗יתָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְלֹ֣א יַעֲבֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 5 If determined [4]
are his days, [3]
the number of his months is with you; [2]
 
you have appointed his limits [2]
which he cannot pass. [1]
6 שְׁעֵ֣ה מֵעָלָ֣יו [3] VDechi
וְיֶחְדָּ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
עַד־יִ֝רְצֶ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כְּשָׂכִ֥יר יוֹמֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 6 Look away from him [3]
and let him alone; [2]
 
until he can enjoy [2]
like a hired laborer his day. [1]
7 כִּ֤י יֵ֥שׁ לָעֵ֗ץ [3] Revi'i
תִּ֫קְוָ֥ה [2] Ole Veyored
 
אִֽם־יִ֭כָּרֵת [3] Dechi
וְע֣וֹד יַחֲלִ֑יף [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יֹנַקְתּ֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א תֶחְדָּֽל׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 2 7 “For there is for a tree [3]
hope; [2]
 
if it is cut down [3]
that it will sprout again, [2]
 
and its young shoot, [2]
it will not fail. [1]
8 אִם־יַזְקִ֣ין בָּאָ֣רֶץ [3] VDechi
שׇׁרְשׁ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝בֶעָפָ֗ר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יָמ֥וּת גִּזְעֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 Though it grows old in the earth, [3]
its root; [2]
 
and in the dry ground [2]
its stump dies, [1]
9 מֵרֵ֣יחַ מַ֣יִם [3] VDechi
יַפְרִ֑חַ [2] Etnachta
 
וְעָשָׂ֖ה קָצִ֣יר [2] VRevMug
כְּמוֹ־נָֽטַע׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 9 at the scent of water [3]
it will bud; [2]
 
and it will sprout branches [2]
like a (new) plant. [1]
10 וְגֶ֣בֶר יָ֭מוּת [3] Dechi
וַֽיֶּחֱלָ֑שׁ [2] Etnachta
 
וַיִּגְוַ֖ע אָדָ֣ם [2] VRevMug
וְאַיּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 10 But a man dies [3]
and he is laid low; [2]
 
man breathes his last, [2]
and where is he? [1]
11 אָזְלוּ־מַ֭יִם [3] Dechi
מִנִּי־יָ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נָהָ֗ר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יֶחֱרַ֥ב וְיָבֵֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 11 As the waters disappear [3]
from the sea; [2]
 
and a river, [2]
it drains away and dries up, [1]
12 וְאִ֥ישׁ שָׁכַ֗ב [3] Revi'i
וְֽלֹא־יָ֫ק֥וּם [2] Ole Veyored
 
עַד־בִּלְתִּ֣י שָׁ֭מַיִם [3] Dechi
לֹ֣א יָקִ֑יצוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וְלֹֽא־יֵ֝עֹ֗רוּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מִשְּׁנָתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 2 12 so a man lies down [3]
and he doesn’t rise again; [2]
 
until the heavens are no more [3]
they will not awake, [2]
 
and they will not be roused [2]
from their sleep. [1]
13 מִ֤י יִתֵּ֨ן ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
בִּשְׁא֬וֹל תַּצְפִּנֵ֗נִי [3] Revi'i
 
תַּ֭סְתִּירֵנִי [3] Dechi
עַד־שׁ֣וּב אַפֶּ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
תָּ֤שִֽׁית לִ֖י חֹ֣ק [2] VRevMug
וְתִזְכְּרֵֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 13 “Oh that [4]
in Sheol you would hide me, [3]
 
that you would conceal me [3]
until your wrath is past; [2]
 
that you would appoint for me a set time, [2]
then remember me! [1]
14 אִם־יָמ֥וּת גֶּ֗בֶר [3] Revi'i
הֲיִֽ֫חְיֶ֥ה [2] Ole Veyored
 
כׇּל־יְמֵ֣י צְבָאִ֣י [3] VDechi
אֲיַחֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
עַד־בּ֝֗וֹא [2] Revi'i Mugrash
חֲלִיפָתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 2 14 If a man dies, [3]
will he live again? [2]
 
All the days of my hard labor [3]
I will wait, [2]
 
until comes [2]
my relief. [1]
15 תִּ֭קְרָא [3] Dechi
וְאָנֹכִ֣י אֶעֱנֶ֑ךָּ [2] Etnachta
 
לְֽמַעֲשֵׂ֖ה יָדֶ֣יךָ [2] VRevMug
תִכְסֹֽף׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 15 You will call, [3]
and I, I will answer you; [2]
 
for the work of your hands [2]
you will long. [1]
16 כִּֽי־עַ֭תָּה [3] Dechi
צְעָדַ֣י תִּסְפּ֑וֹר [2] Etnachta
 
לֹֽא־תִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עַל־חַטָּאתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 16 For now [3]
you count my steps; [2]
 
do you not watch [2]
over my sin? [1]
17 חָתֻ֣ם בִּצְר֣וֹר [3] VDechi
פִּשְׁעִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וַ֝תִּטְפֹּ֗ל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עַל־עֲוֺנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 17 Sealed up in a bag [3]
will be my transgression; [2]
 
and you will cover [2]
over my iniquity. [1]
18 וְ֭אוּלָם [3] Dechi
הַר־נוֹפֵ֣ל יִבּ֑וֹל [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝צ֗וּר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יֶעְתַּ֥ק מִמְּקֹמֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 18 “But [3]
as a mountain falls away and crumbles; [2]
 
and a rock [2]
is moved from its place, [1]
19 אֲבָנִ֤ים ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh
שָׁ֥חֲקוּ מַ֗יִם [3] Revi'i
תִּשְׁטֹֽף־סְפִיחֶ֥יהָ עֲפַר־אָ֑רֶץ [2] Etnachta
 
וְתִקְוַ֖ת אֱנ֣וֹשׁ [2] VRevMug
הֶֽאֱבַֽדְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 19 as stones [4]
the waters wear away, [3]
(and) its torrents wash away the soil; [2]
 
so the hope of man [2]
you destroy. [1]
20 תִּתְקְפֵ֣הוּ לָ֭נֶצַח [3] Dechi
וַֽיַּהֲלֹ֑ךְ [2] Etnachta
 
מְשַׁנֶּ֥ה פָ֝נָ֗יו [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וַֽתְּשַׁלְּחֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 You prevail forever against him [3]
and he departs; [2]
 
you change his countenance [2]
and you send him away. [1]
21 יִכְבְּד֣וּ בָ֭נָיו [3] Dechi
וְלֹ֣א יֵדָ֑ע [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יִצְעֲר֗וּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְֽלֹא־יָבִ֥ין לָֽמוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 21 If his sons are honored, [3]
he doesn’t know it; [2]
 
if they are brought low, [2]
he doesn’t perceive it. [1]
22 אַךְ־בְּ֭שָׂרוֹ [3] Dechi
עָלָ֣יו יִכְאָ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נַפְשׁ֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עָלָ֥יו תֶּאֱבָֽל׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 22 Only his flesh [3]
for himself is pained; [2]
 
and his soul, [2]
for himself it mourns.” [1]
