[1] Silluq |
1 “Man, [3] born of woman; [2] and full of trouble. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
2 Like a flower he comes forth [3] and he withers; [2] and he doesn’t remain. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
3 Indeed on such a one [3] do you fix your eyes; [2] with yourself? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
4 Who can make a pure thing [3] from the impure? [3/2] Not one. [1] |
5 If determined [4] are his days, [3] the number of his months is with you; [2] which he cannot pass. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
6 Look away from him [3] and let him alone; [2] like a hired laborer his day. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
7 “For there is for a tree [3] hope; [2] that it will sprout again, [2] it will not fail. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
8 Though it grows old in the earth, [3] its root; [2] its stump dies, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
9 at the scent of water [3] it will bud; [2] like a (new) plant. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
10 But a man dies [3] and he is laid low; [2] and where is he? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
11 As the waters disappear [3] from the sea; [2] it drains away and dries up, [1] |
[1] Silluq |
12 so a man lies down [3] and he doesn’t rise again; [2] they will not awake, [2] from their sleep. [1] |
13 “Oh that [4] in Sheol you would hide me, [3] until your wrath is past; [2] then remember me! [1] |
[1] Silluq |
14 If a man dies, [3] will he live again? [2] I will wait, [2] my relief. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
15 You will call, [3] and I, I will answer you; [2] you will long. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
16 For now [3] you count my steps; [2] over my sin? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
17 Sealed up in a bag [3] will be my transgression; [2] over my iniquity. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
18 “But [3] as a mountain falls away and crumbles; [2] is moved from its place, [1] |
19 as stones [4] the waters wear away, [3] (and) its torrents wash away the soil; [2] you destroy. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
20 You prevail forever against him [3] and he departs; [2] and you send him away. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
21 If his sons are honored, [3] he doesn’t know it; [2] he doesn’t perceive it. [1] |
22 Only his flesh [3] for himself is pained; [2] for himself it mourns.” [1] ¶ |
