1 וַ֭יַּעַן [3] Dechi
בִּלְדַּ֥ד הַשּׁוּחִ֗י [3/2] Revi'i
וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 1 Then he answered, [3]
Bildad the Shuhite, [3/2]
and he said, [1]
2 עַד־אָ֥ן תְּמַלֶּל־אֵ֑לֶּה [2] Etnachta
 
וְר֥וּחַ כַּ֝בִּ֗יר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אִמְרֵי־פִֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 2 “How long will you speak these things? [2]
 
Shall a mighty wind be [2]
the words of your mouth? [1]
3 הַ֭אֵל [3] Dechi
יְעַוֵּ֣ת מִשְׁפָּ֑ט [2] Etnachta
 
וְאִם־שַׁ֝דַּ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יְעַוֵּת־צֶֽדֶק׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 God, [3]
does he pervert justice? [2]
 
Or the Almighty [2]
does he pervert righteousness? [1]
4 אִם־בָּנֶ֥יךָ חָֽטְאוּ־ל֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וַֽ֝יְשַׁלְּחֵ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּיַד־פִּשְׁעָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 4 If your children sinned against him; [2]
 
he sent them [2]
into the hand of their transgression. [1]
5 אִם־אַ֭תָּה [3] Dechi
תְּשַׁחֵ֣ר אֶל־אֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וְאֶל־שַׁ֝דַּ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תִּתְחַנָּֽן׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 5 If you, [3]
you will seek God earnestly; [2]
 
to the Almighty [2]
make your supplication. [1]
6 אִם־זַ֥ךְ וְיָשָׁ֗ר [3] Revi'i
אָ֥֫תָּה [2] Ole Veyored
 
כִּֽי־עַ֭תָּה [3] Dechi
יָעִ֣יר עָלֶ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝שִׁלַּ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נְוַ֣ת צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 2 6 If pure and upright [3]
are you; [2]
 
surely now [3]
he would awaken for you, [2]
 
and he would restore [2]
the habitation of your righteousness. [1]
7 וְהָיָ֣ה רֵאשִׁיתְךָ֣ [3] VDechi
מִצְעָ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝אַחֲרִֽיתְךָ֗ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יִשְׂגֶּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 7 And though your beginning [3]
be small; [2]
 
yet your latter end, [2]
it will greatly increase. [1]
8 כִּֽי־שְׁאַל־נָ֭א [3] Dechi
לְדֹ֣ר רִישׁ֑וֹן [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝כוֹנֵ֗ן [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְחֵ֣קֶר אֲבוֹתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 “Please ask [3]
of a former generation; [2]
 
and give attention [2]
to what their fathers learned. [1]
9 כִּֽי־תְמ֣וֹל אֲ֭נַחְנוּ [3] Dechi
וְלֹ֣א נֵדָ֑ע [2] Etnachta
 
כִּ֤י צֵ֖ל יָמֵ֣ינוּ [2] VRevMug
עֲלֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 9 For of just yesterday are we [3]
and nothing do we know; [2]
 
for a shadow are our days [2]
on earth. [1]
10 הֲלֹא־הֵ֣ם י֭וֹרוּךָ [3] Dechi
יֹ֣אמְרוּ לָ֑ךְ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝מִלִּבָּ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יוֹצִ֥אוּ מִלִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 10 Will they not teach you, [3]
will they speak to you; [2]
 
and from their heart [2]
will they bring forth words? [1]
11 הֲיִֽגְאֶה־גֹּ֭מֶא [3] Dechi
בְּלֹ֣א בִצָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
יִשְׂגֶּה־אָ֥חוּ בְלִי־מָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 11 “Can the papyrus grow tall [3]
without a swamp? [2]
 
Can the reeds grow without water? [1]
12 עֹדֶ֣נּוּ בְ֭אִבּוֹ [3] Dechi
לֹ֣א יִקָּטֵ֑ף [2] Etnachta
 
וְלִפְנֵ֖י כׇל־חָצִ֣יר [2] VRevMug
יִיבָֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 12 While it is yet in its greenness, [3]
is it not plucked off; [2]
 
and before any other plant [2]
it is dried up. [1]
13 כֵּ֗ן [3] Revi'i
אׇ֭רְחוֹת [3] Dechi
כׇּל־שֹׁ֣כְחֵי אֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
וְתִקְוַ֖ת חָנֵ֣ף [2] VRevMug
תֹּאבֵֽד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 3 2 13 So [3]
are the paths [3]
of all who forget God; [2]
 
and the hope of the godless, [2]
it will be lost, [1]
14 אֲשֶׁר־יָק֥וֹט כִּסְל֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וּבֵ֥ית עַ֝כָּבִ֗ישׁ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מִבְטַחֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 14 whose confidence will break; [2]
 
for (in) the house of a spider [2]
is his confidence. [1]
15 יִשָּׁעֵ֣ן עַל־בֵּ֭יתוֹ [3] Dechi
וְלֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֑ד [2] Etnachta
 
יַחֲזִ֥יק בּ֝֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְלֹ֣א יָקֽוּם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 15 He supports himself on his house, [3]
but it doesn't stand; [2]
 
he takes hold on it, [2]
but it doesn't endure. [1]
16 רָטֹ֣ב ה֭וּא [3] Dechi
לִפְנֵי־שָׁ֑מֶשׁ [2] Etnachta
 
וְעַ֥ל גַּ֝נָּת֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יֹנַקְתּ֥וֹ תֵצֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 16 He is a fresh plant [3]
before the sun; [2]
 
and over its garden [2]
its young shoots go out. [1]
17 עַל־גַּ֭ל [3] Dechi
שׇׁרָשָׁ֣יו יְסֻבָּ֑כוּ [2] Etnachta
 
בֵּ֖ית אֲבָנִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
יֶחֱזֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 17 Around the rock pile [3]
its roots are entangled; [2]
 
between stones [2]
it sees. [1]
18 אִם־יְבַלְּעֶ֥נּוּ מִמְּקֹמ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וְכִ֥חֶשׁ בּ֝֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א רְאִיתִֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 18 If it is swallowed up from its place; [2]
 
then it will deny it (saying), [2]
‘I have not seen you.’ [1]
19 הֶן־ה֭וּא [3] Dechi
מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ דַּרְכּ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝מֵעָפָ֗ר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אַחֵ֥ר יִצְמָֽחוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 19 Behold this [3]
is the joy of its way; [2]
 
and from the dust [2]
others will spring up. [1]
20 הֶן־אֵ֭ל [3] Dechi
לֹ֣א יִמְאַס־תָּ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
וְלֹֽא־יַ֝חֲזִ֗יק [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּיַד־מְרֵעִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 “Behold God, [3]
he doesn't reject a blameless one; [2]
 
and he doesn't hold [2]
the hand of evildoers. [1]
21 עַד־יְמַלֵּ֣ה שְׂח֣וֹק [3] VDechi
פִּ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וּשְׂפָתֶ֥יךָ תְרוּעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 21 He will still fill with laughter [3]
your mouth; [2]
 
and your lips with a shout of joy. [1]
22 שֹׂנְאֶ֥יךָ יִלְבְּשׁוּ־בֹ֑שֶׁת [2] Etnachta
 
וְאֹ֖הֶל רְשָׁעִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
אֵינֶֽנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq

2 2 22 Those who hate you will be clothed with shame; [2]
 
and the tent of the wicked [2]
will be no more.” [1]
