אֶת־יִפְתָּֽח׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 2 1 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor. He was the son of a prostitute. Gilead became the father of Jephthah. [3]

וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ לוֹ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
לֹא־תִנְחַ֣ל בְּבֵית־אָבִ֔ינוּ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
כִּ֛י [3] Tevir
בֶּן־אִשָּׁ֥ה אַחֶ֖רֶת [2] Merkha Tip'cha
אָֽתָּה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 4 3 2 3 2 Gilead’s wife bore him sons. When his wife’s sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out and said to him, “You will not inherit in our father’s house, for you are the son of another woman.” [3]

עִמּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

1 2 3 2 2 3 2 3 Then Jephthah fled from his brothers and lived in the land of Tob. Outlaws joined up with Jephthah, and they went out with him. ¶ [3]

1 2 2 4 After a while, the children of Ammon made war against Israel. [2]

כַּאֲשֶׁר־נִלְחֲמ֥וּ בְנֵֽי־עַמּ֖וֹן [2] Merkha Tip'cha
עִם־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta

1 2 2 2 3 2 5 When the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah out of the land of Tob. [2]

1 2 2 2 2 6 They said to Jephthah, “Come and be our chief, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.” ¶ [2]

1 2 3 2 3 2 3 11 Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and chief over them. Jephthah spoke all his words before the LORD in Mizpah. ¶ [3]

1 2 3 2 2 2 12 Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, “What do you have to do with me, that you have come to me to fight against my land?” ¶ [3]
13 וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ מֶ֨לֶךְ בְּנֵֽי־עַמּ֜וֹן [4] TelishaQ Qadma Geresh

מֵאַרְנ֥וֹן וְעַד־הַיַּבֹּ֖ק [2] Merkha Tip'cha

1 2 3 4 3 2 2 2 13 The king of the children of Ammon answered the messengers of Jephthah, “Because Israel took away my land when he came up out of Egypt, from the Arnon even to the Jabbok, and to the Jordan. Now therefore restore that territory again peaceably.” ¶ [4]

1 2 2 2 3 2 15 and he said to him, “Jephthah says: Israel didn’t take away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon; [2]

בַּעֲלוֹתָ֣ם מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל בַּמִּדְבָּר֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta
עַד־יַם־ס֔וּף [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּבֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha
קָדֵֽשָׁה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 16 but when they came up from Egypt, and Israel went through the wilderness to the Sea of Suf, and came to Kadesh, [2]

וְגַ֨ם אֶל־מֶ֧לֶךְ מוֹאָ֛ב [3] Qadma Darga Tevir

וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בְּקָדֵֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 3 2 17 then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, ‘Please let me pass through your land;’ but the king of Edom didn’t listen. In the same way, he sent to the king of Moab, but he refused; so Israel stayed in Kadesh. [4]

1 2 3 3 4 2 3 2 2 3 2 18 Then they went through the wilderness, and went around the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and they encamped on the other side of the Arnon; but they didn’t come within the border of Moab, for the Arnon was the border of Moab. 1 2 3 2 2 3 2 19 Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said to him, ‘Please let us pass through your land to my place.’ [3]
20 וְלֹא־הֶאֱמִ֨ין סִיח֤וֹן אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta
עֲבֹ֣ר בִּגְבֻל֔וֹ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וַיֶּאֱסֹ֤ף סִיחוֹן֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
אֶת־כׇּל־עַמּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּיָ֑הְצָה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם [2] Tip'cha
עִם־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 2 20 But Sihon didn’t trust Israel to pass through his border; but Sihon gathered all his people together, and encamped in Jahaz, and fought against Israel. [3]

הָאָ֥רֶץ הַהִֽיא׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 4 4 2 3 2 3 2 21 The LORD, the God of Israel, delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they struck them. So Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country. [4]

1 2 2 2 3 2 22 They possessed all the border of the Amorites, from the Arnon even to the Jabbok, and from the wilderness even to the Jordan. [2]

אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל [3] Munach Revi'a
 
הוֹרִישׁ֙ [3] Pashta

מִבָּלָ֥ק בֶּן־צִפּ֖וֹר [2] Merkha Tip'cha

עַל־יְדֵ֣י אַרְנ֔וֹן [2] Munach Zaqef
 
שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת [2] Merkha Tip'cha

וּמַדּ֥וּעַ לֹֽא־הִצַּלְתֶּ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִֽיא׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 4 4 3 3 2 2 26 Israel lived in Heshbon and its towns, and in Aroer and its towns, and in all the cities that are along the side of the Arnon for three hundred years! Why didn’t you recover them within that time? [4]

יִשְׁפֹּ֨ט יְהֹוָ֤ה הַשֹּׁפֵט֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta

בֵּ֚ין [3] Yetiv
בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וּבֵ֖ין [2] Tip'cha

1 2 2 2 2 28 However, the king of the children of Ammon didn’t listen to the words of Jephthah which he sent him. [2]
29 וַתְּהִ֤י עַל־יִפְתָּח֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta

וַיַּעֲבֹ֥ר אֶת־הַגִּלְעָ֖ד [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְאֶת־מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַֽיַּעֲבֹר֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־מִצְפֵּ֣ה גִלְעָ֔ד [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וּמִמִּצְפֵּ֣ה גִלְעָ֔ד [2] Munach Zaqef
עָבַ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 3 2 2 29 Then the LORD’s Spirit came on Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon. ¶ [3]
30 וַיִּדַּ֨ר יִפְתָּ֥ח נֶ֛דֶר [3] Qadma Merkha Tevir

וַיֹּאמַ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
אִם־נָת֥וֹן תִּתֵּ֛ן [3] Merkha Tevir
אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י עַמּ֖וֹן [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בְּיָדִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 30 Jephthah vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, “If you will indeed deliver the children of Ammon into my hand, [3]
31 וְהָיָ֣ה הַיּוֹצֵ֗א [3] Munach Revi'a
 
אֲשֶׁ֨ר יֵצֵ֜א [4] Qadma Geresh
מִדַּלְתֵ֤י בֵיתִי֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
לִקְרָאתִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
בְּשׁוּבִ֥י בְשָׁל֖וֹם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
מִבְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֑וֹן [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וְהָיָה֙ [3] Pashta
לַיהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְהַעֲלִיתִ֖יהוּ [2] Tip'cha
עֹלָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

לְהִלָּ֣חֶם בָּ֑ם [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַיִּתְּנֵ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 32 So Jephthah passed over to the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hand. [3]

מֵעֲרוֹעֵר֩ וְעַד־בֹּאֲךָ֨ מִנִּ֜ית [4] TelishaQ Qadma Geresh
עֶשְׂרִ֣ים עִ֗יר [3] Munach Revi'a

אָבֵ֣ל כְּרָמִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef

גְּדוֹלָ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַיִּכָּֽנְעוּ֙ [3] Pashta

וּבִמְחֹל֑וֹת [1] Etnachta

אֵֽין־ל֥וֹ מִמֶּ֛נּוּ [3] Merkha Tevir

אוֹ־בַֽת׃ [1] Silluq

לָשֽׁוּב׃ [1] Silluq

on the children of Ammon.” [1]

שְׁנַ֣יִם חֳדָשִׁ֗ים [3] Munach Revi'a
 
וְאֵֽלְכָה֙ [3] Pashta
וְיָרַדְתִּ֣י עַל־הֶהָרִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וְאֶבְכֶּה֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־בְּתוּלַ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
אָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
*ורעיתי **וְרֵֽעוֹתָֽי׃ [1] Silluq

וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח אוֹתָ֖הּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
שְׁנֵ֣י חֳדָשִׁ֑ים [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַתֵּ֤לֶךְ הִיא֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
וְרֵ֣עוֹתֶ֔יהָ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וַתֵּ֥בְךְּ עַל־בְּתוּלֶ֖יהָ [2] Merkha Tip'cha
עַל־הֶֽהָרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 3 2 38 He said, “Go.” He sent her away for two months; and she departed, she and her companions, and mourned her virginity on the mountains. [2]

וַתָּ֙שׇׁב֙ [3] Pashta

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ לָ֔הּ [2] Munach Zaqef
אֶת־נִדְר֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָדָ֑ר [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וְהִיא֙ [3] Pashta
לֹא־יָדְעָ֣ה אִ֔ישׁ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וַתְּהִי־חֹ֖ק [2] Tip'cha
בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq
