1 2 3 2 2 3 4 4 4 3 3 2 2 1 The men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said to Jephthah, “Why did you pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didn’t call us to go with you? We will burn your house around you with fire!” ¶ [3]

1 2 3 2 3 3 3 2 2 2 Jephthah said to them, “I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, you didn’t save me out of their hand. [3]

וַיִּתְּנֵ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha

וְלָמָ֞ה [4] Gershayim
עֲלִיתֶ֥ם אֵלַ֛י [3] Merkha Tevir
הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
לְהִלָּ֥חֶם בִּֽי׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

1 2 3 2 2 3 4 3 3 2 2 4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim. The men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said, “You are fugitives of Ephraim, you Gileadites, in the middle of Ephraim, and in the middle of Manasseh.” [3]

וַיֹּ֨אמְרוּ ל֧וֹ אַנְשֵֽׁי־גִלְעָ֛ד [3] Qadma Darga Tevir
הַאֶפְרָתִ֥י אַ֖תָּה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וַיֹּ֥אמֶֽר ׀ לֹֽא׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 4 4 2 3 5 The Gileadites took the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites. Whenever a fugitive of Ephraim said, “Let me go over,” the men of Gilead said to him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” If he said, “No;” [3]

וַיִּשְׁחָט֖וּהוּ [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־מַעְבְּר֣וֹת הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַיִּפֹּ֞ל [4] Gershayim
בָּעֵ֤ת הַהִיא֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
מֵֽאֶפְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁנַ֖יִם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
אָֽלֶף׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 2 2 3 4 2 6 then they said to him, “Now say ‘Shibboleth;’ ” and he said “Sibboleth”; for he couldn’t manage to pronounce it correctly, then they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. At that time, forty-two thousand of Ephraim fell. ¶ [4]

בְּעָרֵ֥י גִלְעָֽד׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

1 2 3 2 3 3 2 7 Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died, and was buried in the cities of Gilead. ¶ [3]

2 3 2 8 After him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel. [3]
9 וַֽיְהִי־ל֞וֹ [4] Gershayim
שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים בָּנִ֗ים [3] Munach Revi'a
 
וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים בָּנוֹת֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
שִׁלַּ֣ח הַח֔וּצָה [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים בָּנ֔וֹת [2] Munach Zaqef
הֵבִ֥יא לְבָנָ֖יו [2] Merkha Tip'cha
מִן־הַח֑וּץ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִֽים׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 2 2 9 He had thirty sons. He sent his thirty daughters outside his clan, and he brought in thirty daughters from outside his clan for his sons. He judged Israel seven years. [4]
10 וַיָּ֣מׇת אִבְצָ֔ן [2] Munach Zaqef
וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
בְּבֵ֥ית לָֽחֶם׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

2 2 10 Ibzan died, and was buried at Bethlehem. ¶ [2]
11 וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֤ט אַֽחֲרָיו֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta

אֵיל֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
הַזְּבוּלֹנִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
עֶ֥שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 11 After him, Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years. [3]

וַיִּקָּבֵ֥ר בְּאַיָּל֖וֹן [2] Merkha Tip'cha

1 2 2 12 Elon the Zebulunite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun. ¶ [2]
13 וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אַחֲרָ֖יו [2] Merkha Tip'cha
אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
עַבְדּ֥וֹן בֶּן־הִלֵּ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
הַפִּרְעָתוֹנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 13 After him, Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel. [2]
14 וַֽיְהִי־ל֞וֹ [4] Gershayim
אַרְבָּעִ֣ים בָּנִ֗ים [3] Munach Revi'a
 
וּשְׁלֹשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta
בְּנֵ֣י בָנִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef
 
רֹכְבִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
עַל־שִׁבְעִ֣ים עֲיָרִ֑ם [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֥ט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה שָׁנִֽים׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 2 14 He had forty sons and thirty sons’ sons who rode on seventy donkey colts. He judged Israel eight years. [4]

הָעֲמָלֵקִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
