1 וַיַּעֲשׂ֧וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל [3] Tevir
הָרַ֖ע [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּתְּנֵ֧ם יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
בְּיַד־מִדְיָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 1 And the children of Israel did [3]
that which was evil [2]
in the eyes of the LORD; [1]
 
so the LORD gave them [3]
into the hand of Midian [2]
seven years. [1]
2 וַתָּ֥עׇז יַד־מִדְיָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
מִפְּנֵ֨י מִדְיָ֜ן [4] Geresh
עָשׂ֥וּ לָהֶ֣ם ׀ [4] Legarmeh
בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i
 
אֶת־הַמִּנְהָרוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר בֶּהָרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֶת־הַמְּעָר֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
וְאֶת־הַמְּצָדֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq

over Israel; [1]
 
because of Midian [4]
they made for themselves, [4]
the children of Israel, [3]
 
the dens [3]
which are in the mountains, [2]
 
and the caves [2]
and the strongholds. [1]
3 וְהָיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אִם־זָרַ֣ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וְעָלָ֨ה מִדְיָ֧ן וַעֲמָלֵ֛ק [3] Tevir
וּבְנֵי־קֶ֖דֶם [2] Tip'cha
וְעָל֥וּ עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

when Israel sowed; [1]
 
they went up, Midian and Amalek [3]
and the children of the east, [2]
and they went up against them. [1]
4 וַיַּֽחֲנ֣וּ עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i
וַיַּשְׁחִ֙יתוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶת־יְב֣וּל הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
עַד־בּוֹאֲךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
עַזָּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹֽא־יַשְׁאִ֤ירוּ מִֽחְיָה֙ [3] Pashta
בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וְשֶׂ֥ה וָשׁ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
וַחֲמֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq

and they destroyed [3 3]
the produce of the land, [2]
 
until you come [2]
to Gaza. [1]
 
They left no sustenance [3]
in Israel, [2]
 
or sheep or ox [2]
or donkey. [1]

הֵם֩ וּמִקְנֵיהֶ֨ם יַֽעֲל֜וּ [4] Geresh
וְאׇהֳלֵיהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
*יבאו **וּבָ֤אוּ כְדֵֽי־אַרְבֶּה֙ [3] Pashta
לָרֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
וְלָהֶ֥ם וְלִגְמַלֵּיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ בָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
לְשַׁחֲתָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

and they came like a swarm of locusts [3]
for multitude; [2]
 
they and their camels had [2]
no number; [1]
 
and they came into the land [2]
to destroy it. [1]

וַיִּזְעֲק֥וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha

because of Midian; [1]
 
and the children of Israel cried out [2]
to the LORD. [1]
7 וַיְהִ֕י [2] ZaqefG
כִּֽי־זָעֲק֥וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta

אֹד֥וֹת מִדְיָֽן׃ [1] Silluq

the children of Israel cried out [2]
to the LORD, [1]
 
on [2]
account of Midian, [1]
8 וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
אִ֥ישׁ נָבִ֖יא [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לָהֶ֜ם [4] Geresh
כֹּה־אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֣ה ׀ [4] Legarmeh
אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i
 
אָנֹכִ֞י [4] Gershayim
הֶעֱלֵ֤יתִי אֶתְכֶם֙ [3] Pashta

וָאֹצִ֥יא אֶתְכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
מִבֵּ֥ית עֲבָדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

and he said to them, [4]
“Thus says the LORD, [4]
the God of Israel, [3]
 
‘I, [4]
I brought you up [3]
from Egypt, [2]
 
and I brought you out [2]
from a house of bondage. [1]
9 וָאַצִּ֤ל אֶתְכֶם֙ [3] Pashta
מִיַּ֣ד מִצְרַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
וּמִיַּ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־לֹחֲצֵיכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וָאֲגָרֵ֤שׁ אוֹתָם֙ [3] Pashta
מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וָאֶתְּנָ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־אַרְצָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

from the hand of Egypt, [2]
 
and from the hand [2]
of all who oppressed you; [1]
 
and I drove them out [3]
from before you, [2]
 
and I gave to you [2]
their land. [1]
10 וָאֹמְרָ֣ה לָכֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i
אֲנִי֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
לֹ֤א תִֽירְאוּ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָאֱמֹרִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתֶּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
יוֹשְׁבִ֣ים בְּאַרְצָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹ֥א שְׁמַעְתֶּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
בְּקוֹלִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

“I [3]
am the LORD your God. [2]
 
You must not fear [3]
the gods of the Amorites, [2]
 
whom you [2]
are dwelling in their land.” [1]
 
But you have not listened [2]
to my voice.’ ” [1]

תַּ֤חַת הָֽאֵלָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּעׇפְרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר לְיוֹאָ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
אֲבִ֣י הָעֶזְרִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וְגִדְע֣וֹן בְּנ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
חֹבֵ֤ט חִטִּים֙ [3] Pashta
בַּגַּ֔ת [2] Zaqef
 
לְהָנִ֖יס [2] Tip'cha
מִפְּנֵ֥י מִדְיָֽן׃ [1] Silluq

the angel of the LORD, [3]
 
and he sat [3 3]
under the oak [3]
which was in Ophrah, [2]
 
which belonged to Joash [2]
the Abiezrite. [1]
 
And Gideon his son [3]
was beating out wheat [3]
in the wine press, [2]
 
to hide it [2]
from before Midian. [1]
12 וַיֵּרָ֥א אֵלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
יְהֹוָ֥ה עִמְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
גִּבּ֥וֹר הֶחָֽיִל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 12 And he appeared to him, [2]
the angel of the LORD, [1]
 
and he said to him, [2]
“The LORD is with you, [2]
O mighty man of strength!” [1]
13 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֤יו גִּדְעוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
בִּ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְיֵ֤שׁ יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
עִמָּ֔נוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְלָ֥מָּה מְצָאַ֖תְנוּ [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־זֹ֑את [1] Etnachta
 
וְאַיֵּ֣ה כׇֽל־נִפְלְאֹתָ֡יו [4] Pazer
אֲשֶׁר֩ סִפְּרוּ־לָ֨נוּ אֲבוֹתֵ֜ינוּ [4] Geresh
לֵאמֹ֗ר [3] Revi'i
 
הֲלֹ֤א מִמִּצְרַ֙יִם֙ [3 3] Pashta
הֶעֱלָ֣נוּ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
נְטָשָׁ֣נוּ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּכַף־מִדְיָֽן׃ [1] Silluq

“Oh, my lord, [2]
 
if the LORD [3]
is with us, [2]
 
then why has it happened to us [2]
all this? [1]
 
And where are all his wondrous works [4]
which our fathers recounted to us [4]
saying, [3]
 
‘Did not from Egypt [3 3]
the LORD bring us up?’ [2]
 
But now [3]
the LORD has abandoned us, [2]
 
and he has given us [2]
into the hand of Midian.” [1]
14 וַיִּ֤פֶן אֵלָיו֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר [3] Revi'i
לֵ֚ךְ [3] Yetiv
בְּכֹחֲךָ֣ זֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְהוֹשַׁעְתָּ֥ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
מִכַּ֣ף מִדְיָ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
הֲלֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha
שְׁלַחְתִּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD, [2]
 
and he said, [3]
“Go [3]
in this your strength, [2]
 
and you will deliver Israel [2]
from the hand of Midian. [1]
 
Have not [2]
I sent you?” [1]
15 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ [3] Pashta
בִּ֣י אֲדֹנָ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
בַּמָּ֥ה אוֹשִׁ֖יעַ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
הִנֵּ֤ה אַלְפִּי֙ [3] Pashta
הַדַּ֣ל בִּמְנַשֶּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְאָנֹכִ֥י הַצָּעִ֖יר [2] Tip'cha
בְּבֵ֥ית אָבִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

“O Lord, [2]
 
how will I deliver [2]
Israel? [1]
 
Behold, my family [3]
is the weakest in Manasseh, [2]
 
and I am the least [2]
in the house of my father.” [1]
16 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י אֶהְיֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עִמָּ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהִכִּיתָ֥ אֶת־מִדְיָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
כְּאִ֥ישׁ אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD, [2]
 
“For I will be [2]
with you, [1]
 
and you shall strike down Midian [2]
as one man.” [1]
17 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
אִם־נָ֛א [3] Tevir
מָצָ֥אתִי חֵ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וְעָשִׂ֤יתָ לִּי֙ [3] Pashta
א֔וֹת [2] Zaqef
 
שָׁאַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מְדַבֵּ֥ר עִמִּֽי׃ [1] Silluq

“If please [3]
I have found favor [2]
in your eyes; [1]
 
then will you do for me [3]
a sign, [2]
 
that it is you [2]
who are speaking with me. [1]
18 אַל־נָ֨א תָמֻ֤שׁ מִזֶּה֙ [3] Pashta
עַד־בֹּאִ֣י אֵלֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְהֹֽצֵאתִי֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־מִנְחָתִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִנַּחְתִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לְפָנֶ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּאמַ֕ר [2] ZaqefG
אָנֹכִ֥י אֵשֵׁ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
עַ֥ד שׁוּבֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

until I come to you, [2]
 
and I will bring out [3]
my gift, [2]
 
and I will set it [2]

“I will wait [2]
until you return.” [1]

וַיַּ֤עַשׂ גְּדִֽי־עִזִּים֙ [3] Pashta
וְאֵיפַת־קֶ֣מַח מַצּ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef
 
הַבָּשָׂר֙ [3] Pashta
שָׂ֣ם בַּסַּ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וְהַמָּרַ֖ק [2] Tip'cha
שָׂ֣ם בַּפָּר֑וּר [1] Etnachta
 
וַיּוֹצֵ֥א אֵלָ֛יו [3] Tevir
אֶל־תַּ֥חַת הָאֵלָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וַיַּגַּֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq

and he prepared a young goat [3]
and an efah of flour of unleavened bread. [2]
 
The meat [3]
he put in the basket, [2]
 
and the broth [2]
he put in the pot; [1]
 
and he brought it out to him [3]
to beneath the oak, [2]
and he presented them. [1]

מַלְאַ֣ךְ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
קַ֣ח אֶת־הַבָּשָׂ֤ר וְאֶת־הַמַּצּוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
וְהַנַּח֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הַסֶּ֣לַע הַלָּ֔ז [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֶת־הַמָּרַ֖ק [2] Tip'cha
שְׁפ֑וֹךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּ֖עַשׂ [2] Tip'cha
כֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq

the angel of God, [3]
 
“Take the meat and the unleavened bread, [3]
and set [3]
on this rock, [2]
 
and the broth, [2]
pour out.” [1]
 
And he did [2]
so. [1]
21 וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח [4] Gershayim
מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
אֶת־קְצֵ֤ה הַמִּשְׁעֶ֙נֶת֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּיָד֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּגַּ֥ע בַּבָּשָׂ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
וּבַמַּצּ֑וֹת [1] Etnachta
 
וַתַּ֨עַל הָאֵ֜שׁ [4] Geresh
מִן־הַצּ֗וּר [3] Revi'i
 
וַתֹּ֤אכַל אֶת־הַבָּשָׂר֙ [3] Pashta
וְאֶת־הַמַּצּ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef
 
וּמַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
הָלַ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
מֵעֵינָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

the angel of the LORD, [3]
 
the end of the staff [3 3]
which was in his hand, [2]
 
and he touched the meat [2]
and the unleavened bread; [1]
 
and fire went up [4]
from the rock, [3]
 
and it consumed the meat [3]
and the unleavened bread. [2]
 
Then the angel of the LORD, [2]
he departed [2]
from his sight. [1]
22 וַיַּ֣רְא גִּדְע֔וֹן [2] Zaqef
כִּֽי־מַלְאַ֥ךְ יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
ה֑וּא [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר גִּדְע֗וֹן [3] Revi'i
אֲהָהּ֙ [3] Pashta
אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־עַל־כֵּ֤ן רָאִ֙יתִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
פָּנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־פָּנִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

that the angel of the LORD [2]
he was; [1]
 
and Gideon said, [3]
“Alas, [3]
O Lord GOD! [2]
 
Because I have seen [3 3]
the angel of the LORD [2]
 
face [2]
to face!” [1]
23 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר ל֧וֹ יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
שָׁל֥וֹם לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
אַל־תִּירָ֑א [1] Etnachta
 
לֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha
תָּמֽוּת׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 23 And the LORD said to him, [3]
“Peace be to you! [2]
Don’t be afraid. [1]
 
Not [2]
shall you die.” [1]
24 וַיִּ֩בֶן֩ שָׁ֨ם גִּדְע֤וֹן מִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ [3 3] Pashta
לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּקְרָא־ל֥וֹ יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
שָׁל֑וֹם [1] Etnachta
 
עַ֚ד [3] Yetiv
הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
עוֹדֶ֕נּוּ [2] ZaqefG
בְּעׇפְרָ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
אֲבִ֥י הָעֶזְרִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

and he called it “The LORD [2]
is Peace.” [1]

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר ל֣וֹ יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
קַ֤ח אֶת־פַּר־הַשּׁוֹר֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְאָבִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וּפַ֥ר הַשֵּׁנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָרַסְתָּ֗ [3] Revi'i
אֶת־מִזְבַּ֤ח הַבַּ֙עַל֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְאָבִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֶת־הָאֲשֵׁרָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר־עָלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
תִּכְרֹֽת׃ [1] Silluq

that night, [2]
 
the LORD said to him, [3]
“Take the young bull [3]
which belongs to your father, [2]
 
the second young bull [2]
seven years old; [1]
 
and tear down [3]
the altar of Baal [3 3]
that belongs to your father, [2]
 
and the Asherah pole that is by it, [2]
cut down. [1]
26 וּבָנִ֨יתָ מִזְבֵּ֜חַ [4] Geresh
לַיהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ [3] Revi'i
 
עַ֣ל רֹ֧אשׁ הַמָּע֛וֹז [3] Tevir
הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
 
בַּמַּעֲרָכָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְלָֽקַחְתָּ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הַפָּ֣ר הַשֵּׁנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְהַעֲלִ֣יתָ עוֹלָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
בַּעֲצֵ֥י הָאֲשֵׁרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּכְרֹֽת׃ [1] Silluq

to the LORD your God [3]
 
on the top of the stronghold [3]
this, [2]
 
in an orderly way; [1]
 
and take [3]
the second young bull, [2]
 
and offer up a burnt offering [2]
with the wood of the Asherah pole [2]
which you shall cut down.” [1]
27 וַיִּקַּ֨ח גִּדְע֜וֹן [4] Geresh

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ לָֽיְלָה׃ [1] Silluq

of his servants, [2]
 
and he did [2]

he had told him, [2]
the LORD. [1]
 
And it was, [4]
since he feared the household of his father [4]
and the men of the city [3]
from doing it by day, [2]
 
he did it by night. [1]

וְהִנֵּ֤ה נֻתַּץ֙ [3] Pashta
מִזְבַּ֣ח הַבַּ֔עַל [2] Zaqef
 
וְהָאֲשֵׁרָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר־עָלָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
כֹּרָ֑תָה [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֵת֙ [3] Pashta
הַפָּ֣ר הַשֵּׁנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
הֹֽעֲלָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ [2] Tip'cha
הַבָּנֽוּי׃ [1] Silluq

behold it was torn down, [3]
the altar of Baal, [2]
 
and the Asherah pole that was by it [2]
was cut down; [1]

the second young bull, [2]
 
it had been offered up [2]
on the altar [2]
that had been built. [1]
29 וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ [3] Pashta
אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵ֔הוּ [2] Zaqef
 
מִ֥י עָשָׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַֽיִּדְרְשׁוּ֙ [3] Pashta
וַיְבַקְשׁ֔וּ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ [2] Zaqef
 
גִּדְעוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
בֶּן־יוֹאָ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef
 
עָשָׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq

and they searched, [2]
 
and they said, [2]
 
“Gideon [3]
the son of Joash, [2]
 
he has done [2]

30 וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ [4] Geresh
אַנְשֵׁ֤י הָעִיר֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־יוֹאָ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef
 
הוֹצֵ֥א אֶת־בִּנְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
וְיָמֹ֑ת [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֤י נָתַץ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־מִזְבַּ֣ח הַבַּ֔עַל [2] Zaqef
 
וְכִ֥י כָרַ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
הָאֲשֵׁרָ֥ה אֲשֶׁר־עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

to Joash, [2]
 
“Bring out your son [2]
that he may die, [1]
 
because he has torn down [3]
the altar of Baal, [2]
 
and because he has cut down [2]
the Asherah pole that was by it.” [1]
31 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יוֹאָ֡שׁ [4] Pazer
לְכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁר־עָמְד֨וּ עָלָ֜יו [4] Geresh
הַאַתֶּ֣ם ׀ [4] Legarmeh
תְּרִיב֣וּן לַבַּ֗עַל [3] Revi'i
 
אִם־אַתֶּם֙ [3] Pashta
תּוֹשִׁיע֣וּן אוֹת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָרִ֥יב ל֛וֹ [3] Tevir
יוּמַ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
עַד־הַבֹּ֑קֶר [1] Etnachta
 
אִם־אֱלֹהִ֥ים הוּא֙ [3] Pashta
יָ֣רֶב ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י נָתַ֖ץ [2] Tip'cha
אֶֽת־מִזְבְּחֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

to all who stood against him, [4]
“You, [4]
will you contend for Baal? [3]
 
Or you, [3]
will you deliver him? [2]
 
Whoever will contend for him, [3]
let him be put to death [2]
by morning! [1]
 
If he is a god [3]
let him contend for himself, [2]
 
because someone has torn down [2]
his altar!” [1]
32 וַיִּקְרָא־ל֥וֹ בַיּוֹם־הַה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha
יְרֻבַּ֣עַל לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
יָ֤רֶב בּוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
הַבַּ֔עַל [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י נָתַ֖ץ [2] Tip'cha
אֶֽת־מִזְבְּחֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

Jerub-Baal, saying, [1]
 
“Let him contend against him, [3]
Baal, [2]
 
because he has torn down [2]
his altar.” [1]
33 וְכׇל־מִדְיָ֧ן וַעֲמָלֵ֛ק [3] Tevir
וּבְנֵי־קֶ֖דֶם [2] Tip'cha
נֶאֶסְפ֣וּ יַחְדָּ֑ו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּעַבְר֥וּ וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֵ֥מֶק יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ [1] Silluq

and the children of the east, [2]
they gathered together; [1]
 
and they passed over and they encamped [2]
in the valley of Jezreel. [1]
34 וְר֣וּחַ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
לָבְשָׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־גִּדְע֑וֹן [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּתְקַע֙ [3] Pashta
בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּזָּעֵ֥ק אֲבִיעֶ֖זֶר [2] Tip'cha
אַחֲרָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

Gideon; [1]
 
and he gave a blast [3]
on the ram's horn, [2]
 
and Abiezer was called together [2]
to follow him. [1]

שָׁלַ֣ח בְּכׇל־מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּזָּעֵ֥ק גַּם־ה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha
אַחֲרָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וּמַלְאָכִ֣ים שָׁלַ֗ח [3] Revi'i
בְּאָשֵׁ֤ר וּבִזְבֻלוּן֙ [3] Pashta
וּבְנַפְתָּלִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וַֽיַּעֲל֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
לִקְרָאתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

to Asher and to Zebulun [3]

אִם־יֶשְׁךָ֞ [4] Gershayim
מוֹשִׁ֧יעַ בְּיָדִ֛י [3] Tevir
אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq

“If you [4]
are going to deliver by my hand [3]
Israel, [2]
just as you have spoken, [1]

אֶת־גִּזַּ֥ת הַצֶּ֖מֶר [2] Tip'cha
בַּגֹּ֑רֶן [1] Etnachta

טַל֩ יִֽהְיֶ֨ה עַֽל־הַגִּזָּ֜ה [4] Geresh
לְבַדָּ֗הּ [3] Revi'i
 
וְעַל־כׇּל־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ [3 3] Pashta

וְיָדַעְתִּ֗י [3] Revi'i

that you will deliver by my hand [3]
Israel, [2]
just as you have spoken.” [1]
38 וַיְהִי־כֵ֕ן [2] ZaqefG
 
וַיַּשְׁכֵּם֙ [3] Pashta
מִֽמׇּחֳרָ֔ת [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּ֖זַר [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הַגִּזָּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּ֤מֶץ טַל֙ [3] Pashta
מִן־הַגִּזָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
מְל֥וֹא הַסֵּ֖פֶל [2] Tip'cha
מָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

for he rose early [3]
on the next day, [2]
 
and he squeezed out [2]
the fleece; [1]
 
and he wrung the dew [3]
from the fleece, [2]
 
a bowl full [2]
of water. [1]
39 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר גִּדְעוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
אַל־יִ֤חַר אַפְּךָ֙ [3] Pashta
בִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וַאֲדַבְּרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אַ֣ךְ הַפָּ֑עַם [1] Etnachta
 
אֲנַסֶּ֤ה נָּא־רַק־הַפַּ֙עַם֙ [3 3] Pashta
בַּגִּזָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
יְהִי־נָ֨א חֹ֤רֶב אֶל־הַגִּזָּה֙ [3] Pashta
לְבַדָּ֔הּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַל־כׇּל־הָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
יִֽהְיֶה־טָּֽל׃ [1] Silluq

“Don’t let your anger burn [3]
against me, [2]
 
and let me speak [2]
just once more. [1]
 
Please let me test just once more [3 3]
with the fleece. [2]
 
Let it now be dry on the fleece, [3]
it alone, [2]
 
but on all the ground [2]
let there be dew.” [1]

וַֽיְהִי־חֹ֤רֶב אֶל־הַגִּזָּה֙ [3] Pashta

וְעַל־כׇּל־הָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
