	¹וַתְּהִ֨י צַעֲקַ֥ת הָעָ֛ם [3] Qadma Merkha Tevir וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha גְּדוֹלָ֑ה [1] Etnachta אֶל־אֲחֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha הַיְּהוּדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq		¹Then there was an outcry of the people [3] and their wives, [2] great; [1] concerning their fellow [2] Jews. [1]
	²וְיֵשׁ֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֹמְרִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef בָּנֵ֥ינוּ וּבְנֹתֵ֖ינוּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha אֲנַ֣חְנוּ רַבִּ֑ים [1] Munach Etnachta וְנִקְחָ֥ה דָגָ֖ן [2] Merkha Tip'cha וְנֹאכְלָ֥ה וְנִחְיֶֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		²For there were [3] those who said, [2] “Our sons and our daughters, [2] we are numerous; [1] so we must get grain [2] that we may eat and that we may live.” [1]
	³וְיֵשׁ֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֹמְרִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef שְׂדֹתֵ֛ינוּ [3] Tevir וּכְרָמֵ֥ינוּ וּבָתֵּ֖ינוּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha אֲנַ֣חְנוּ עֹרְבִ֑ים [1] Munach Etnachta וְנִקְחָ֥ה דָגָ֖ן [2] Merkha Tip'cha בָּרָעָֽב׃ [1] Silluq		³And there were [3] others who said, [2] “Our fields [3] and our vineyards and our houses [2] we have mortgaged; [1] in order to get grain [2] in the famine.” [1]
	⁴וְיֵשׁ֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֹמְרִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef לָוִ֥ינוּ כֶ֖סֶף [2] Merkha Tip'cha לְמִדַּ֣ת הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ [1] Munach Etnachta שְׂדֹתֵ֖ינוּ [2] Tip'cha וּכְרָמֵֽינוּ׃ [1] Silluq		⁴And there were [3] others who said, [2] “We have borrowed money [2] for the king’s tax; [1] on our fields [2] and our vineyards. [1]
	⁵וְעַתָּ֗ה [3] Revi'a כִּבְשַׂ֤ר אַחֵ֙ינוּ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta בְּשָׂרֵ֔נוּ [2] Zaqef כִּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha בָּנֵ֑ינוּ [1] Etnachta וְהִנֵּ֣ה אֲנַ֣חְנוּ כֹ֠בְשִׁ֠ים [4] Munach Munach TelishaG אֶת־בָּנֵ֨ינוּ וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵ֜ינוּ [4] Qadma Geresh לַעֲבָדִ֗ים [3] Revi'a וְיֵ֨שׁ מִבְּנֹתֵ֤ינוּ נִכְבָּשׁוֹת֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta וְאֵ֣ין לְאֵ֣ל יָדֵ֔נוּ [2] Munach Munach Zaqef וּשְׂדֹתֵ֥ינוּ וּכְרָמֵ֖ינוּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha לַאֲחֵרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq		⁵And now, [3] like the flesh of our brothers [3] is our flesh, [2] like their children [2] are our children; [1] yet behold we are subjecting [4] our sons and our daughters [4] to slavery, [3] and some of our daughters have already been enslaved [3] but it is not in the power of our hands, [2] since our fields and our vineyards [2] belong to others.” [1]
	⁶וַיִּ֥חַר לִ֖י [2] Merkha Tip'cha מְאֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta אֶת־זַֽעֲקָתָ֔ם [2] Zaqef וְאֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha הַדְּבָרִ֥ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		⁶And I was angry [2] extremely; [1] when I heard [3] their outcry [2] and [2] these words. [1]
	⁷וַיִּמָּלֵ֨ךְ לִבִּ֜י [4] Qadma Geresh עָלַ֗י [3] Revi'a וָאָרִ֙יבָה֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־הַחֹרִ֣ים וְאֶת־הַסְּגָנִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef וָאֹמְרָ֣ה לָהֶ֔ם [2] Munach Zaqef מַשָּׁ֥א אִישׁ־בְּאָחִ֖יו [2] Merkha Tip'cha אַתֶּ֣ם נשאים *נֹשִׁ֑ים [1] Munach Etnachta וָאֶתֵּ֥ן עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha קְהִלָּ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		⁷So my heart pondered [4] within me, [3] then I opposed [3] the nobles and the officials, [2] and I said to them, [2] “Usury each against his brother [2] you are exacting;” [1] and I held against them [2] a great assembly. [1]
	⁸וָאֹמְרָ֣ה לָהֶ֗ם [3] Munach Revi'a אֲנַ֣חְנוּ קָ֠נִ֠ינוּ [4] Munach TelishaG אֶת־אַחֵ֨ינוּ הַיְּהוּדִ֜ים [4] Qadma Geresh הַנִּמְכָּרִ֤ים לַגּוֹיִם֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta כְּדֵ֣י בָ֔נוּ [2] Munach Zaqef וְגַם־אַתֶּ֛ם [3] Tevir תִּמְכְּר֥וּ אֶת־אֲחֵיכֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha וְנִמְכְּרוּ־לָ֑נוּ [1] Etnachta וַֽיַּחֲרִ֔ישׁוּ [2] Zaqef וְלֹ֥א מָצְא֖וּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha דָּבָֽר׃ [1] Silluq פ		⁸And I said to them, [3] “We, we have bought back [4] our fellow Jews [4] who had been sold to the nations, [3] as we were able; [2] and now you, [3] you are selling your brothers, [2] that they should be sold back to us?” [1] And they were silent, [2] and they could not find [2] anything to say. [1] ¶
	⁹ויאמר *וָאוֹמַ֕ר [2] ZaqefG לֹא־ט֥וֹב הַדָּבָ֖ר [2] Merkha Tip'cha אֲשֶׁר־אַתֶּ֣ם עֹשִׂ֑ים [1] Munach Etnachta הֲל֞וֹא [4] Gershayim בְּיִרְאַ֤ת אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta תֵּלֵ֔כוּ [2] Zaqef מֵחֶרְפַּ֖ת [2] Tip'cha הַגּוֹיִ֥ם אוֹיְבֵֽינוּ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		⁹Then I said, [2] “Not good is the thing [2] that you are doing! [1] Should (you) not [4] in the fear of our God [3] walk, [2] to avoid the reproach [2] of the nations our enemies? [1]
	¹⁰וְגַם־אֲנִי֙ [3] Pashta אַחַ֣י וּנְעָרַ֔י [2] Munach Zaqef נֹשִׁ֥ים בָּהֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha כֶּ֣סֶף וְדָגָ֑ן [1] Munach Etnachta נַֽעַזְבָה־נָּ֖א [2] Tip'cha אֶת־הַמַּשָּׁ֥א הַזֶּֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹⁰For also I, [3] my brothers and my servants, [2] are lending them [2] money and grain. [1] Let us stop now [2] this usury. [1]
	¹¹הָשִׁ֩יבוּ֩ נָ֨א לָהֶ֜ם [4] TelishaQ Qadma Geresh כְּהַיּ֗וֹם [3] Revi'a שְׂדֹתֵיהֶ֛ם [3] Tevir כַּרְמֵיהֶ֥ם זֵיתֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha וּבָתֵּיהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta וּמְאַ֨ת הַכֶּ֤סֶף וְהַדָּגָן֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta הַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְהַיִּצְהָ֔ר [2] Munach Zaqef אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתֶּ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha נֹשִׁ֥ים בָּהֶֽם׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹¹Return to them now [4] this very day, [3] their fields, [3] their vineyards, their olive groves, [2] and their houses; [1] and the hundredth part of the money and the grain, [3] the new wine and the fresh oil [2] that you [2] have been taking from them.” [1]
	¹²וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ נָשִׁ֗יב [3] Munach Revi'a וּמֵהֶם֙ [3] Pashta לֹ֣א נְבַקֵּ֔שׁ [2] Munach Zaqef כֵּ֣ן נַעֲשֶׂ֔ה [2] Munach Zaqef כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר [2] Tip'cha אַתָּ֣ה אוֹמֵ֑ר [1] Munach Etnachta וָאֶקְרָא֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef וָֽאַשְׁבִּיעֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha כַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹²Then they said, “We will restore these, [3] and from them [3] nothing we will require, [2] thus we will do [2] just as [2] you have said.” [1] Then I called [3] the priests, [2] and I made them swear an oath [2] to do [2] according to this. [1]
	¹³גַּם־חׇצְנִ֣י נָעַ֗רְתִּי [3] Munach Revi'a וָֽאֹמְרָ֡ה [4] Pazer כָּ֣כָה יְנַעֵ֪ר הָֽאֱלֹהִ֟ים [4] Munach Galgal PazerG אֶת־כׇּל־הָאִישׁ֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹֽא־יָקִ֜ים [4] TelishaQ Qadma Geresh אֶת־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֗ה [3] Munach Revi'a מִבֵּיתוֹ֙ [3] Pashta וּמִ֣יגִיע֔וֹ [2] Munach Zaqef וְכָ֛כָה [3] Tevir יִהְיֶ֥ה נָע֖וּר [2] Merkha Tip'cha וָרֵ֑ק [1] Etnachta וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ כׇֽל־הַקָּהָ֜ל [4] Qadma Geresh אָמֵ֗ן [3] Revi'a וַֽיְהַלְלוּ֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָעָ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha כַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹³Also my lap I shook out, [3] and I said, [4] “Thus may God shake out [4] every one who doesn’t carry out [4] this promise, [3] from his house [3] and from his property, [2] and thus [3] may he be shaken out [2] and emptied!” [1] And all the assembly replied, [4] “Amen!” [3] and they praised [3] the LORD. [2] So the people did [2] according to this promise. [1]
	¹⁴גַּ֞ם [4] Gershayim מִיּ֣וֹם ׀ [4] Munach Legarmeh אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֣ה אוֹתִ֗י [3] Munach Revi'a לִהְי֣וֹת פֶּחָם֮ [3] Munach Zarqa בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָה֒ [2] Munach Segol מִשְּׁנַ֣ת עֶשְׂרִ֗ים [3] Munach Revi'a וְ֠עַ֠ד [4] TelishaG שְׁנַ֨ת שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּשְׁתַּ֙יִם֙ [3] Qadma Mapakh Pashta לְאַרְתַּחְשַׁ֣סְתְּא הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ [2] Munach Zaqef שָׁנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha שְׁתֵּ֣ים עֶשְׂרֵ֑ה [1] Munach Etnachta אֲנִ֣י וְאַחַ֔י [2] Munach Zaqef לֶ֥חֶם הַפֶּ֖חָה [2] Merkha Tip'cha לֹ֥א אָכַֽלְתִּי׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹⁴Moreover [4] from the day [4] that I was appointed [3] to be their governor [3] in the land of Judah, [2] from year twenty [3] up to [4] year thirty and two [3] of king Artaxerxes, [2] of years, [2] two and ten; [1] I and my brothers, [2] the bread of the governor [2] I have not eaten. [1]
	¹⁵וְהַפַּחוֹת֩ הָרִאשֹׁנִ֨ים אֲשֶׁר־לְפָנַ֜י [4] TelishaQ Qadma Geresh הִכְבִּ֣ידוּ עַל־הָעָ֗ם [3] Munach Revi'a וַיִּקְח֨וּ מֵהֶ֜ם [4] Qadma Geresh בְּלֶ֤חֶם וָיַ֙יִן֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta אַחַר֙ [3] Pashta כֶּֽסֶף־שְׁקָלִ֣ים אַרְבָּעִ֔ים [2] Munach Zaqef גַּ֥ם נַעֲרֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha שָׁלְט֣וּ עַל־הָעָ֑ם [1] Munach Etnachta וַאֲנִי֙ [3] Pashta לֹא־עָשִׂ֣יתִי כֵ֔ן [2] Munach Zaqef מִפְּנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha יִרְאַ֥ת אֱלֹהִֽים׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹⁵The former governors who were before me, [4] they placed heavy burdens on the people [3] and they took from them [4] in bread and wine [3] in addition to [3] forty shekels of silver, [2] also their servants, [2] they lorded over the people. [1] But I, [3] I didn’t do so, [2] because of [2] the fear of God. [1]
	¹⁶וְ֠גַ֠ם [4] TelishaG בִּמְלֶ֜אכֶת [4] Geresh הַחוֹמָ֤ה הַזֹּאת֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta הֶחֱזַ֔קְתִּי [2] Zaqef וְשָׂדֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לֹ֣א קָנִ֑ינוּ [1] Munach Etnachta וְכׇ֨ל־נְעָרַ֔י [2] Qadma Zaqef קְבוּצִ֥ים שָׁ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha עַל־הַמְּלָאכָֽה׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁶But [4] onto the work [4] of this wall [3] I held firmly, [2] and land [2] we did not acquire; [1] and all my servants [2] were gathered there [2] for the work. [1]
	¹⁷וְהַיְּהוּדִ֨ים וְהַסְּגָנִ֜ים [4] Qadma Geresh מֵאָ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֣ים אִ֗ישׁ [3] Darga Munach Revi'a וְהַבָּאִ֥ים אֵלֵ֛ינוּ [3] Merkha Tevir מִן־הַגּוֹיִ֥ם אֲשֶׁר־סְבִיבֹתֵ֖ינוּ [2] Merkha Tip'cha עַל־שֻׁלְחָנִֽי׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁷And of the Jews and the rulers [4] were one hundred fifty people [3] as well as those who came to us [3] from the nations around us, [2] at my table. [1]
	¹⁸וַאֲשֶׁר֩ הָיָ֨ה נַעֲשֶׂ֜ה [4] TelishaQ Qadma Geresh לְי֣וֹם אֶחָ֗ד [3] Munach Revi'a שׁ֣וֹר אֶחָ֞ד [4] Munach Gershayim צֹ֠אן [4] TelishaG שֵׁשׁ־בְּרֻר֤וֹת וְצִפֳּרִים֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta נַֽעֲשׂוּ־לִ֔י [2] Zaqef וּבֵ֨ין עֲשֶׂ֧רֶת יָמִ֛ים [3] Qadma Darga Tevir בְּכׇל־יַ֖יִן [2] Tip'cha לְהַרְבֵּ֑ה [1] Etnachta וְעִם־זֶ֗ה [3] Revi'a לֶ֤חֶם הַפֶּחָה֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta לֹ֣א בִקַּ֔שְׁתִּי [2] Munach Zaqef כִּֽי־כָֽבְדָ֥ה הָעֲבֹדָ֖ה [2] Merkha Tip'cha עַל־הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq		¹⁸Now what was prepared [4] for one day, [3] one ox, [4] of sheep [4] six choice, and poultry, [3] they were prepared for me, [2] and every ten days [3] all kinds of wine [2] in abundance; [1] but besides this, [3] the food of the governor [3] I didn’t ask for, [2] because the work was already heavy [2] on this people. [1]
	¹⁹זׇכְרָה־לִּ֥י אֱלֹהַ֖י [2] Merkha Tip'cha לְטוֹבָ֑ה [1] Etnachta כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֖יתִי [2] Merkha Tip'cha עַל־הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּֽה׃ [1] Merkha Silluq פ		¹⁹Remember me O my God, [2] for good; [1] all that I have done [2] for this people. [1] ¶
