1 וַיְהִ֣י כַאֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁמַ֣ע לְסַנְבַלַּ֣ט וְ֠טוֹבִיָּ֠ה [4 4] TelishaG
וּלְגֶ֨שֶׁם הָֽעַרְבִ֜י [4] Geresh
וּלְיֶ֣תֶר אֹֽיְבֵ֗ינוּ [3] Revi'i
 
כִּ֤י בָנִ֙יתִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶת־הַ֣חוֹמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹא־נ֥וֹתַר בָּ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
פָּ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta
 
גַּ֚ם [3] Yetiv
עַד־הָעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔יא [2] Zaqef
 
דְּלָת֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
לֹא־הֶעֱמַ֥דְתִּי בַשְּׁעָרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 4 3 2 2 3 2 1 Now when it was reported to Sanballat, Tobiah, and to Geshem the Arabian, and to the rest of our enemies, that I had built the wall, and that there was no breach left in it (though even to that time I had not set up the doors in the gates) [4 4]
2 וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח סַנְבַלַּ֤ט וְגֶ֙שֶׁם֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֵלַ֣י לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
לְכָ֞ה [4] Gershayim
וְנִֽוָּעֲדָ֥ה יַחְדָּ֛ו [3] Tevir
בַּכְּפִירִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
בְּבִקְעַ֣ת אוֹנ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהֵ֙מָּה֙ [3 3] Pashta
חֹֽשְׁבִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
רָעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 4 2 3 2 2 Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, “Come! Let’s meet together in the villages in the plain of Ono.” But they intended to harm me. ¶ [3 3]
3 וָאֶשְׁלְחָ֨ה עֲלֵיהֶ֤ם מַלְאָכִים֙ [3] Pashta
לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
מְלָאכָ֤ה גְדוֹלָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֲנִ֣י עֹשֶׂ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹ֥א אוּכַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
לָרֶ֑דֶת [1] Etnachta
 
לָ֣מָּה תִשְׁבַּ֤ת הַמְּלָאכָה֙ [3] Pashta
כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר אַרְפֶּ֔הָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְיָרַדְתִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 2 3 2 3 I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I can’t come down. Why should the work cease, while I leave it, and come down to you?” [3]
4 וַיִּשְׁלְח֥וּ אֵלַ֛י [3] Tevir
כַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אַרְבַּ֣ע פְּעָמִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וָאָשִׁ֥יב אוֹתָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
כַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq

5 וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ אֵלַ֨י סַנְבַלַּ֜ט [4] Geresh
כַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּ֛ה [3] Tevir
פַּ֥עַם חֲמִישִׁ֖ית [2] Tip'cha
אֶֽת־נַעֲר֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְאִגֶּ֥רֶת פְּתוּחָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

with an open letter [2]
in his hand, [1]

בַּגּוֹיִ֤ם נִשְׁמָע֙ [3] Pashta
וְגַשְׁמ֣וּ אֹמֵ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
אַתָּ֤ה וְהַיְּהוּדִים֙ [3] Pashta
חֹשְׁבִ֣ים לִמְר֔וֹד [2] Zaqef
 
עַל־כֵּ֛ן [3] Tevir
אַתָּ֥ה בוֹנֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הַחוֹמָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְאַתָּ֗ה [3] Revi'i
הֹוֶ֤ה לָהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
לְמֶ֔לֶךְ [2] Zaqef
 
כַּדְּבָרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ [1] Silluq

“It is reported among the nations, [3]
and Gashmu is saying, [2]
 
you and the Jews [3]
are planning to rebel, [2]

you are rebuilding [2]
the wall; [1]

would be to them [3]
king [2]
 
according to the words, [2]

הֶעֱמַ֣דְתָּ לִקְרֹא֩ עָלֶ֨יךָ בִֽירוּשָׁלַ֜͏ִם [4] Geresh

בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
יִשָּׁמַ֣ע לַמֶּ֔לֶךְ [2] Zaqef
 
כַּדְּבָרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
הָאֵ֑לֶּה [1] Etnachta
 
וְעַתָּ֣ה לְכָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
וְנִֽוָּעֲצָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
יַחְדָּֽו׃ [1] Silluq

you have appointed to proclaim of you in Jerusalem [4]

and let us take counsel [2]

אַתָּ֣ה אוֹמֵ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֥י מִֽלִּבְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
אַתָּ֥ה בוֹדָֽאם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 2 8 Then I sent to him, saying, “There are no such things done as you say, but you imagine them out of your own heart.” [3]
9 כִּ֣י כֻלָּ֗ם [3] Revi'i
מְיָֽרְאִ֤ים אוֹתָ֙נוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
יִרְפּ֧וּ יְדֵיהֶ֛ם [3] Tevir
מִן־הַמְּלָאכָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וְלֹ֣א תֵעָשֶׂ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְעַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
חַזֵּ֥ק אֶת־יָדָֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 3 2 9 For they all would have made us afraid, saying, “Their hands will be weakened from the work, that it not be done.” But now, strengthen my hands. ¶ [3]
10 וַאֲנִי־בָ֗אתִי [3] Revi'i
בֵּ֣ית שְֽׁמַֽעְיָ֧ה בֶן־דְּלָיָ֛ה [3] Tevir
בֶּן־מְהֵֽיטַבְאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
וְה֣וּא עָצ֑וּר [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֡אמֶר [4] Pazer
נִוָּעֵד֩ אֶל־בֵּ֨ית הָאֱלֹהִ֜ים [4] Geresh
אֶל־תּ֣וֹךְ הַֽהֵיכָ֗ל [3] Revi'i
 
וְנִסְגְּרָה֙ [3] Pashta
דַּלְת֣וֹת הַהֵיכָ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
בָּאִ֣ים לְהׇרְגֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְלַ֖יְלָה [2] Tip'cha
בָּאִ֥ים לְהׇרְגֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 3 4 4 3 2 3 2 10 I went to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabel, who was shut in at his home; and he said, “Let us meet together in God’s house, within the temple, and let’s shut the doors of the temple; for they will come to kill you. Yes, in the night they will come to kill you.” ¶ [3]
11 וָאֹמְרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
הַאִ֤ישׁ כָּמ֙וֹנִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
יִבְרָ֔ח [2] Zaqef
 
וּמִ֥י כָמ֛וֹנִי [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־יָבֹ֥א אֶל־הַהֵיכָ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
וָחָ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
לֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha
אָבֽוֹא׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 3 2 11 I said, “Should a man like me flee? Who is there that, being such as I, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.” [3]
12 וָאַכִּ֕ירָה [2] ZaqefG
וְהִנֵּ֥ה לֹֽא־אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
שְׁלָח֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֤י הַנְּבוּאָה֙ [3] Pashta
דִּבֶּ֣ר עָלַ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְטוֹבִיָּ֥ה וְסַנְבַלַּ֖ט [2] Tip'cha
שְׂכָרֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 3 2 12 I discerned, and behold, God had not sent him; but he pronounced this prophecy against me. Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. [2]
13 לְמַ֤עַן שָׂכוּר֙ [3] Pashta
ה֔וּא [2] Zaqef
 
לְמַֽעַן־אִירָ֥א וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂה־כֵּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
וְחָטָ֑אתִי [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָיָ֤ה לָהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
לְשֵׁ֣ם רָ֔ע [2] Zaqef
 
לְמַ֖עַן [2] Tip'cha
יְחָֽרְפֽוּנִי׃ [1] Silluq

14 זׇכְרָ֧ה אֱלֹהַ֛י [3] Tevir
לְטוֹבִיָּ֥ה וּלְסַנְבַלַּ֖ט [2] Tip'cha
כְּמַעֲשָׂ֣יו אֵ֑לֶּה [1] Etnachta
 
וְגַ֨ם לְנוֹעַדְיָ֤ה הַנְּבִיאָה֙ [3] Pashta
וּלְיֶ֣תֶר הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָי֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
מְיָֽרְאִ֥ים אוֹתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 14 “Remember, my God, Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and also the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.” ¶ [3]

בְּעֶשְׂרִ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha

יֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq

וַיִּֽרְא֗וּ [3] Revi'i
כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִם֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר סְבִֽיבֹתֵ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּפְּל֥וּ מְאֹ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֵינֵיהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֵּ֣דְע֔וּ [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
מֵאֵ֣ת אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef
 
נֶעֶשְׂתָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הַמְּלָאכָ֥ה הַזֹּֽאת׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 3 3 2 2 2 3 2 16 When all our enemies heard of it, all the nations that were around us were afraid, and they lost their confidence; for they perceived that this work was done by our God. [3]

מַרְבִּ֞ים [4] Gershayim
חֹרֵ֤י יְהוּדָה֙ [3] Pashta
אִגְּרֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
הוֹלְכ֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
עַל־טוֹבִיָּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר לְטוֹבִיָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בָּא֥וֹת אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 4 2 2 17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobiah, and Tobiah’s letters came to them. [4]

בַּעֲלֵ֤י שְׁבוּעָה֙ [3] Pashta

כִּי־חָתָ֥ן ה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha
לִשְׁכַנְיָ֣ה בֶן־אָרַ֑ח [1] Etnachta
 
וִֽיהוֹחָנָ֣ן בְּנ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
לָקַ֕ח [2] ZaqefG
אֶת־בַּת־מְשֻׁלָּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
בֶּ֥ן בֶּֽרֶכְיָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 2 2 2 18 For there were many in Judah sworn to him, because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah the son of Arah; and his son Jehohanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah as wife. [3]
