1 אַֽל־תִּ֭תְהַלֵּל [3] Dechi
בְּי֣וֹם מָחָ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
כִּ֤י לֹֽא־תֵ֝דַ֗ע [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מַה־יֵּ֥לֶד יֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 1 Don't boast [3]
about tomorrow; [2]
 
for you do not know [2]
what a day will bring forth. [1]
2 יְהַלֶּלְךָ֣ זָ֣ר [3] VDechi
וְלֹא־פִ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta
 
נׇ֝כְרִ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְאַל־שְׂפָתֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 Let another praise you [3]
and not your own mouth; [2]
 
a stranger, [2]
and not your own lips. [1]
3 כֹּֽבֶד־אֶ֭בֶן [3] Dechi
וְנֵ֣טֶל הַח֑וֹל [2] Etnachta
 
וְכַ֥עַס אֱ֝וִ֗יל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כָּבֵ֥ד מִשְּׁנֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 A stone is heavy, [3]
and sand is a burden; [2]
 
but provocation by a fool [2]
is heavier than both. [1]
4 אַכְזְרִיּ֣וּת חֵ֭מָה [3] Dechi
וְשֶׁ֣טֶף אָ֑ף [2] Etnachta
 
וּמִ֥י יַ֝עֲמֹ֗ד [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לִפְנֵ֥י קִנְאָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 4 Wrath is cruel, [3]
and anger is overwhelming; [2]
 
but who can stand [2]
before jealousy? [1]
5 ט֭וֹבָה [3] Dechi
תּוֹכַ֣חַת מְגֻלָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
מֵאַהֲבָ֥ה מְסֻתָּֽרֶת׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 5 Better [3]
is open rebuke; [2]
 
than hidden love. [1]
6 נֶ֭אֱמָנִים [3] Dechi
פִּצְעֵ֣י אוֹהֵ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נַעְתָּר֗וֹת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נְשִׁיק֥וֹת שׂוֹנֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 6 Faithful [3]
are the wounds of a friend; [2]
 
but profuse [2]
are the kisses of an enemy. [1]
7 נֶ֣פֶשׁ שְׂ֭בֵעָה [3] Dechi
תָּב֣וּס נֹ֑פֶת [2] Etnachta
 
וְנֶ֥פֶשׁ רְ֝עֵבָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כׇּל־מַ֥ר מָתֽוֹק׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 7 One who is satisfied [3]
refuses honey; [2]
 
but to one who is hungry, [2]
every bitter thing is sweet. [1]
8 כְּ֭צִפּוֹר [3] Dechi
נוֹדֶ֣דֶת מִן־קִנָּ֑הּ [2] Etnachta
 
כֵּֽן־אִ֝֗ישׁ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נוֹדֵ֥ד מִמְּקוֹמֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 Like a bird [3]
which wanders from its nest; [2]
 
so is a person [2]
who wanders from his own place. [1]
9 שֶׁ֣מֶן וּ֭קְטֹרֶת [3] Dechi
יְשַׂמַּֽח־לֵ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וּמֶ֥תֶק רֵ֝עֵ֗הוּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מֵעֲצַת־נָֽפֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 9 Oil and perfume [3]
gladden the heart; [2]
 
and the sweetness of one's friend [2]
from counsel of the soul. [1]
10 רֵ֥עֲךָ֨ *ורעה **וְרֵ֪עַ אָבִ֡יךָ [4] Pazer
אַֽל־תַּעֲזֹ֗ב [3] Revi'i
 
וּבֵ֥ית אָחִ֗יךָ [3] Revi'i
אַל־תָּ֭בוֹא [3] Dechi
בְּי֣וֹם אֵידֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
ט֥וֹב שָׁכֵ֥ן קָ֝ר֗וֹב [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מֵאָ֥ח רָחֽוֹק׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 3 2 10 Your friend and your father’s friend, [4]
do not forsake, [3]
 
and to your brother’s house, [3]
do not go [3]
in the day of your calamity; [2]
 
better is a neighbor who is near, [2]
than a distant brother. [1]
11 חֲכַ֣ם בְּ֭נִי [3] Dechi
וְשַׂמַּ֣ח לִבִּ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְאָשִׁ֖יבָה חֹרְפִ֣י [2] VRevMug
דָבָֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 11 Be wise O my son, [3]
and make glad my heart; [2]
 
that I may bring back to my critics [2]
an answer. [1]
12 עָר֤וּם ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh
רָאָ֣ה רָעָ֣ה [3] VDechi
נִסְתָּ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
פְּ֝תָאיִ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עָבְר֥וּ נֶעֱנָֽשׁוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 12 The prudent, [4]
he sees danger, [3]
he takes refuge; [2]
 
the simple, [2]
they keep going, they pay the penalty. [1]
13 קַח־בִּ֭גְדוֹ [3] Dechi
כִּי־עָ֣רַב זָ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
וּבְעַ֖ד נׇכְרִיָּ֣ה [2] VRevMug
חַבְלֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 13 Take his garment [3]
when he puts up collateral for a stranger; [2]
 
and for a wayward woman [2]
hold it in pledge. [1]
14 מְבָ֘רֵ֤ךְ רֵעֵ֨הוּ ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
בְּק֣וֹל גָּ֭דוֹל [3] Dechi
בַּבֹּ֣קֶר הַשְׁכֵּ֑ים [2] Etnachta
 
קְ֝לָלָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תֵּחָ֥שֶׁב לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 14 One who blesses his neighbor [4]
with a loud voice, [3]
rising early in the morning; [2]
 
as a curse [2]
it will be counted to him. [1]
15 דֶּ֣לֶף ט֭וֹרֵד [3] Dechi
בְּי֣וֹם סַגְרִ֑יר [2] Etnachta
 
וְאֵ֥שֶׁת *מדונים **מִ֝דְיָנִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נִשְׁתָּוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 15 A continual dripping [3]
on a day of steady rain; [2]
 
and a contentious wife [2]
are alike, [1]
16 צֹפְנֶ֥יהָ צָפַן־ר֑וּחַ [2] Etnachta
 
וְשֶׁ֖מֶן יְמִינ֣וֹ [2] VRevMug
יִקְרָֽא׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 16 to restrain her is to restrain the wind; [2]
 
or oil with the right hand [2]
to grasp. [1]
17 בַּרְזֶ֣ל בְּבַרְזֶ֣ל [3] VDechi
יָ֑חַד [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝אִ֗ישׁ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יַ֣חַד פְּנֵֽי־רֵעֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 17 Iron, by iron [3]
it is sharpened; [2]
 
so a person, [2]
he sharpens the countenance of his friend. [1]
18 נֹצֵ֣ר תְּ֭אֵנָה [3] Dechi
יֹאכַ֣ל פִּרְיָ֑הּ [2] Etnachta
 
וְשֹׁמֵ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣יו [2] VRevMug
יְכֻבָּֽד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 18 Whoever tends a fig tree, [3]
he shall eat its fruit; [2]
 
and whoever looks after his master, [2]
he shall be honored. [1]
19 כַּ֭מַּיִם [3] Dechi
הַפָּנִ֣ים לַפָּנִ֑ים [2] Etnachta
 
כֵּ֤ן לֵֽב־הָ֝אָדָ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לָאָדָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 19 As in water [3]
the face is to the face; [2]
 
so the heart of a person [2]
is to the person. [1]
20 שְׁא֣וֹל וַ֭אֲבַדֹּה [3] Dechi
לֹ֣א תִשְׂבַּ֑עְנָה [2] Etnachta
 
וְעֵינֵ֥י הָ֝אָדָ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א תִשְׂבַּֽעְנָה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 Sheol and Abaddon, [3]
they are never satisfied; [2]
 
and the eyes of man, [2]
they are never satisfied. [1]
21 מַצְרֵ֣ף לַ֭כֶּסֶף [3] Dechi
וְכ֣וּר לַזָּהָ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝אִ֗ישׁ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְפִ֣י מַהֲלָלֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 21 A crucible is for silver, [3]
and a furnace is for gold; [2]
 
but a person [2]
is tried by the mouth of those who praise him. [1]
22 אִ֥ם תִּכְתּֽוֹשׁ־אֶת־הָאֱוִ֨יל ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
בַּ֥מַּכְתֵּ֡שׁ [4] Pazer
בְּת֣וֹךְ הָ֭רִיפוֹת [3] Dechi
בַּעֱלִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
לֹא־תָס֥וּר מֵ֝עָלָ֗יו [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אִוַּלְתּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 4 4 2 22 Even if you pound the foolish, [4]
in a mortar [4]
along with the grain, [3]
with a pestle; [2]
 
it will not depart from him, [2]
his foolishness. [1]
23 יָדֹ֣עַ תֵּ֭דַע [3] Dechi
פְּנֵ֣י צֹאנֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
שִׁ֥ית לִ֝בְּךָ֗ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לַעֲדָרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 23 Know well [3]
the condition of your flock; [2]
 
pay attention [2]
to the herds, [1]
24 כִּ֤י לֹ֣א לְעוֹלָ֣ם [3] VDechi
חֹ֑סֶן [2] Etnachta
 
וְאִם־נֵ֝֗זֶר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְד֣וֹר *דור **וָדֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 24 for not forever [3]
is wealth; [2]
 
nor a crown [2]
from generation to generation. [1]
25 גָּלָ֣ה חָ֭צִיר [3] Dechi
וְנִרְאָה־דֶ֑שֶׁא [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נֶאֶסְפ֗וּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עִשְּׂב֥וֹת הָרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 25 The grass disappears [3]
and fresh grass appears; [2]
 
and they are gathered, [2]
the vegetation of the hills. [1]
26 כְּבָשִׂ֥ים לִלְבוּשֶׁ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וּמְחִ֥יר שָׂ֝דֶ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עַתּוּדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 26 The lambs will provide your clothing; [2]
 
and the price of a field, [2]
the goats. [1]
27 וְדֵ֤י ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh
חֲלֵ֬ב עִזִּ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
לְֽ֭לַחְמְךָ [3] Dechi
לְלֶ֣חֶם בֵּיתֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝חַיִּ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְנַעֲרוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 27 And there will be enough [4]
goats’ milk [3]
 
for your food, [3]
for the food of your household; [2]
 
and sustenance [2]
for your maidservants. [1]
