1b אִם־יְהֹוָ֤ה ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh
לֹא־יִבְנֶ֬ה בַ֗יִת [3] Revi'i
 
שָׁ֤וְא עָמְל֣וּ בוֹנָ֣יו [3] VDechi
בּ֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
אִם־יְהֹוָ֥ה לֹא־יִשְׁמׇר־עִ֝֗יר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
שָׁ֤וְא ׀ [4/2] Mahpakh Legarmeh
שָׁקַ֬ד שׁוֹמֵֽר׃ [1] Silluq

1 If the LORD, [4]
he does not build a house, [3]
 
in vain its builders have labored [3]
in it. [2]
 
If the LORD doesn't watch over a city, [2]

the watchman has stayed awake. [1]

כֵּ֤ן יִתֵּ֖ן לִידִיד֣וֹ [2] VRevMug
שֵׁנָֽא׃ [1] Silluq

the bread of hard labor; [2]
 
for he gives to his beloved ones, [2]

פְּרִ֣י הַבָּֽטֶן׃ [1] Silluq

is children; [2]
 
a reward [2]
is the fruit of the womb. [1]
4 כְּחִצִּ֥ים בְּיַד־גִּבּ֑וֹר [2] Etnachta

בְּנֵ֣י הַנְּעוּרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior; [2]

are the children of youth. [1]

אֲשֶׁ֤ר מִלֵּ֥א אֶת־אַשְׁפָּת֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
מֵ֫הֶ֥ם [2] Ole Veyored
 
לֹֽא־יֵבֹ֑שׁוּ [2] Etnachta
כִּֽי־יְדַבְּר֖וּ אֶת־אוֹיְבִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
בַּשָּֽׁעַר׃ [1] Silluq

who has filled his quiver [3]
with them; [2]
 
they won’t be ashamed [2]
when they speak with enemies [2]
