More than you wanted to know about Unbound Bibles

Biola University Unbound Bibles consist of a group of files, although this software only uses the one that has a filename ending in _utf8.txt. These use the UTF-8 international character encoding standard. The first lines start with # marks and may contain some limited meta-data. The actual data lines contain fields separated with tab characers. (The number of fields differs from Bible to Bible.) They only contain the Bible text without any extras like book titles, introductions, or footnotes, and a lot of other helpful information (metadata) is not included in the files. An additional file called book_names.txt does list the book names for the Bible.

01O 1 4 40 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
01O 1 5 50 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
01O 1 6 60 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
01O 1 7 70 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
01O 1 8 80 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Submitting Unbound files to the Bible Drop Box

You should compress your Unbound Bible text file into a zip archive. The filename must have a .zip extension. Take careful note of which folder you are saving your zip file into, because you will need that information in order to submit the file.

Test data: If you are able to provide any kinds of Bible files for automated testing purposes, please contact us and let us know the details so we can improve the internationalisation and ruggedness of the software for everyone’s benefit.
