Being Filled by the Spirit

Being Filled by the Spirit

17Because of this do not become foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18And do not be drunk with wine (in which is dissipation), but be filled by the Spirit, 19speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and singing praise in your heart to the Lord, 20giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to the God and Father, 21being subject to one another out of reverence for[fn] Christ 22—wives to their own husbands as to the Lord, 23because the husband is the head of the wife, as also Christ is the head of the church (he himself being the Savior of the body). 24But as the church is subject to Christ, thus also wives should be subject[fn] to their husbands in everything.

?:? Literally “in the fear of”

?:? *The words “should be subject” are not in the Greek text, but are an understood repetition from the previous clause
