1 כֹּ֤ה הִרְאַ֙נִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִנֵּה֙ [3] Pashta
יוֹצֵ֣ר גֹּבַ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
בִּתְחִלַּ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
עֲל֣וֹת הַלָּ֑קֶשׁ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהִ֨נֵּה־לֶ֔קֶשׁ [2] Zaqef
אַחַ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
גִּזֵּ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq

the Lord GOD, [2]
 
and behold [3]
the forming of locusts [2]
 
at the beginning [2]
of the coming up of the spring crop; [1]
 
and behold a spring crop, [2]
after [2]
the harvest of the king. [1]

לֶֽאֱכוֹל֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־עֵ֣שֶׂב הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
וָֽאֹמַ֗ר [3] Revi'i
אֲדֹנָ֤י יֱהֹוִה֙ [3] Pashta
סְֽלַֽח־נָ֔א [2] Zaqef
 
מִ֥י יָק֖וּם [2] Tip'cha
יַעֲקֹ֑ב [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֥י קָטֹ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq

when they had finished [3]
eating [3]
the vegetation of the land, [2]
 
I said, [3]
“O Lord GOD, [3]
please forgive! [2]
 
How can he stand, [2]
Jacob? [1]
 
For small [2]
is he.” [1]
3 נִחַ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עַל־זֹ֑את [1] Etnachta
 
לֹ֥א תִֽהְיֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 The LORD relented [2]
concerning this; [1]
 
“It shall not be,” [2]
said the LORD. [1]
4 כֹּ֤ה הִרְאַ֙נִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִנֵּ֥ה קֹרֵ֛א [3] Tevir
לָרִ֥ב בָּאֵ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַתֹּ֙אכַל֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶת־תְּה֣וֹם רַבָּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְאָכְלָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הַחֵֽלֶק׃ [1] Silluq

the Lord GOD, [2]
 
and behold was calling for [3]
judgment by fire, [2]
the Lord GOD; [1]
 
and it consumed [3 3]
the great deep, [2]
 
and it consumed [2]
the portion of land. [1]
5 וָאֹמַ֗ר [3] Revi'i
אֲדֹנָ֤י יֱהֹוִה֙ [3] Pashta
חֲדַל־נָ֔א [2] Zaqef
 
מִ֥י יָק֖וּם [2] Tip'cha
יַעֲקֹ֑ב [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֥י קָטֹ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq

“O Lord GOD, [3]
stop, please! [2]
 
How can he stand, [2]
Jacob? [1]
 
For small [2]
is he.” [1]

“This also, [3]
it shall not be,” [2]
 
he said, [2]
the Lord GOD. [1]
7 כֹּ֣ה הִרְאַ֔נִי [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִנֵּ֧ה אֲדֹנָ֛י [3] Tevir
נִצָּ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
עַל־חוֹמַ֣ת אֲנָ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וּבְיָד֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
אֲנָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 7 Thus he showed me, [2]
 
and behold the Lord [3]
standing, [2]
beside a wall made by a plumb line; [1]
 
and in his hand [2]
a plumb line. [1]
8 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה [4] Geresh
אֵלַ֗י [3] Revi'i
 
מָֽה־אַתָּ֤ה רֹאֶה֙ [3] Pashta
עָמ֔וֹס [2] Zaqef
 
וָאֹמַ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
אֲנָ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲדֹנָ֗י [3] Revi'i
הִנְנִ֨י שָׂ֤ם אֲנָךְ֙ [3] Pashta
בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ [3 3] Pashta
עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
לֹא־אוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹד [2] Tip'cha
עֲב֥וֹר לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

to me, [3]
 
“What do you see [3]
Amos?” [2]
 
And I said, [2]
“A plumb line.” [1]
 
And the Lord said, [3]
“Behold, I will set a plumb line [3]
in the middle [3 3]
of my people Israel. [2]
 
I will no longer [2]
pass by them. [1]
9 וְנָשַׁ֙מּוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
בָּמ֣וֹת יִשְׂחָ֔ק [2] Zaqef
 
וּמִקְדְּשֵׁ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
יֶחֱרָ֑בוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְקַמְתִּ֛י [3] Tevir
עַל־בֵּ֥ית יָרׇבְעָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
בֶּחָֽרֶב׃ [1] Silluq

the high places of Isaac, [2]
 
and the sanctuaries of Israel, [2]
they will be laid waste; [1]
 
and I will arise [3]
against the house of Jeroboam [2]
with the sword.” [1]

10 וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח [3] Revi'i
אֲמַצְיָה֙ [3] Pashta
כֹּהֵ֣ן בֵּֽית־אֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
אֶל־יָרׇבְעָ֥ם מֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
קָשַׁ֨ר עָלֶ֜יךָ [4] Geresh
עָמ֗וֹס [3] Revi'i
 
בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ [3 3] Pashta
בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
לֹא־תוּכַ֣ל הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
לְהָכִ֖יל [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־כׇּל־דְּבָרָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

Amaziah [3]
the priest of Bethel, [2]
 
to Jeroboam king of Israel [2]
saying; [1]
 
“He has conspired against you, [4]
Amos, [3]
 
in the middle [3 3]
of the house of Israel. [2]
 
The land is not able [2]
to bear [2]
all his words. [1]
11 כִּי־כֹה֙ [3] Pashta
אָמַ֣ר עָמ֔וֹס [2] Zaqef
 
בַּחֶ֖רֶב [2] Tip'cha
יָמ֣וּת יָרׇבְעָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
גָּלֹ֥ה יִגְלֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מֵעַ֥ל אַדְמָתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

Amos says, [2]
 
‘By the sword [2]
Jeroboam will die; [1]
 
and Israel [2]
shall surely go into exile [2]
from its land.’ ” [1]

אֶל־עָמ֔וֹס [2] Zaqef
 
חֹזֶ֕ה [2] ZaqefG
לֵ֥ךְ בְּרַח־לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וֶאֱכׇל־שָׁ֣ם לֶ֔חֶם [2] Zaqef
וְשָׁ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
תִּנָּבֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq

to Amos, [2]
 
“O seer, [2]
go run away [2]
to the land of Judah; [1]
 
and there eat bread, [2]
and there [2]
prophesy, [1]
13 וּבֵֽית־אֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
לֹא־תוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹד [2] Tip'cha
לְהִנָּבֵ֑א [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֤י מִקְדַּשׁ־מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta
ה֔וּא [2] Zaqef
 
וּבֵ֥ית מַמְלָכָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq

you must not continue [2]
to prophesy; [1]
 
for the sanctuary of the king [3 3]
it is, [2]
 
and a royal house [2]
it is.” [1]
14 וַיַּ֤עַן עָמוֹס֙ [3] Pashta
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־אֲמַצְיָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
לֹא־נָבִ֣יא אָנֹ֔כִי [2] Zaqef
וְלֹ֥א בֶן־נָבִ֖יא [2] Tip'cha
אָנֹ֑כִי [1] Etnachta
 
כִּי־בוֹקֵ֥ר אָנֹ֖כִי [2] Tip'cha
וּבוֹלֵ֥ס שִׁקְמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

and he said to Amaziah, [2]
 
“I am not a prophet, [2]
and not a son of a prophet [2]
am I; [1]
 
but I was a herdsman [2]
and a farmer of sycamore figs, [1]
15 וַיִּקָּחֵ֣נִי יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
מֵאַחֲרֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
הַצֹּ֑אן [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלַי֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
לֵ֥ךְ הִנָּבֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־עַמִּ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq

from following [2]
the flock; [1]
 
and he said to me, [3]
the LORD, [2]
 
‘Go prophesy [2]
to my people Israel.’ [1]
16 וְעַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
שְׁמַ֣ע דְּבַר־יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
אַתָּ֣ה אֹמֵ֗ר [3] Revi'i
לֹ֤א תִנָּבֵא֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹ֥א תַטִּ֖יף [2] Tip'cha
עַל־בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂחָֽק׃ [1] Silluq

hear the word of the LORD; [1]
 
‘You say, [3]
Don’t prophesy [3]
against Israel, [2]
 
and don’t prophesy [2]
against the house of Isaac.’ [1]
17 לָכֵ֞ן [4] Gershayim
כֹּה־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
 
אִשְׁתְּךָ֞ [4] Gershayim
בָּעִ֤יר תִּזְנֶה֙ [3] Pashta
 
וּבָנֶ֤יךָ וּבְנֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
בַּחֶ֣רֶב יִפֹּ֔לוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְאַדְמָתְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
בַּחֶ֣בֶל תְּחֻלָּ֑ק [1] Etnachta
 
וְאַתָּ֗ה [3] Revi'i
עַל־אֲדָמָ֤ה טְמֵאָה֙ [3] Pashta
תָּמ֔וּת [2] Zaqef
 
וְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
גָּלֹ֥ה יִגְלֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מֵעַ֥ל אַדְמָתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

‘Your wife, [4]
she shall be a prostitute in the city, [3]
 
and your sons and your daughters, [3 3]
they shall fall by the sword, [2]
 
and your land, [2]
by measuring line it shall be divided; [1]
 
and you, [3]
on unclean land [3]
you shall die, [2]
 
and Israel, [2]
it shall surely go into exile [2]
from its land.’ ” [1]
