[1]
	²וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ נַעֲרֵֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha מְשָׁרְתָ֑יו [1] Etnachta יְבַקְשׁ֥וּ לַמֶּ֛לֶךְ [3] Tevir נְעָר֥וֹת בְּתוּל֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha טוֹב֥וֹת מַרְאֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq		²And they said, the young men of the king [2] who served him; [1] “Let people seek for the king [3] young virgins [2] of good appearance. [1]
	³וְיַפְקֵ֨ד הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ פְּקִידִים֮ [3] Zarqa בְּכׇל־מְדִינ֣וֹת מַלְכוּתוֹ֒ [2] Segol וְיִקְבְּצ֣וּ אֶת־כׇּל־נַעֲרָֽה־בְ֠תוּלָ֠ה [4 4] TelishaG טוֹבַ֨ת מַרְאֶ֜ה [4] Geresh אֶל־שׁוּשַׁ֤ן הַבִּירָה֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־בֵּ֣ית הַנָּשִׁ֔ים [2] Zaqef אֶל־יַ֥ד הֵגֶ֛א [3] Tevir סְרִ֥יס הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha שֹׁמֵ֣ר הַנָּשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta וְנָת֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha תַּמְרֻקֵיהֶֽן׃ [1] Silluq		³And let the king appoint officers [3] in all the provinces of his kingdom, [2] and let them gather every young virgin [4 4] of good appearance [4] to the citadel of Susa, [3] to the women’s house, [2] into the hand of Hegai [3] the king’s eunuch, [2] the keeper of the women; [1] and let him give [2] beauty treatments to them, [1]
	⁴וְהַֽנַּעֲרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i אֲשֶׁ֤ר תִּיטַב֙ [3] Pashta בְּעֵינֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ [2] Zaqef תִּמְלֹ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha תַּ֣חַת וַשְׁתִּ֑י [1] Etnachta וַיִּיטַ֧ב הַדָּבָ֛ר [3] Tevir בְּעֵינֵ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha וַיַּ֥עַשׂ כֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq פ		⁴and the young woman [3] who will be good [3] in the eyes of the king, [2] she will reign [2] in place of Vashti.” [1] And the word was good [3] in the eyes of the king, [2] so thus he did. 	⁵אִ֣ישׁ יְהוּדִ֔י [2] Zaqef הָיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בְּשׁוּשַׁ֣ן הַבִּירָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וּשְׁמ֣וֹ מׇרְדֳּכַ֗י [3] Revi'i בֶּ֣ן יָאִ֧יר בֶּן־שִׁמְעִ֛י [3] Tevir בֶּן־קִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha אִ֥ישׁ יְמִינִֽי׃ [1] Silluq		⁵A Jewish man, [2] he was [2] in Susa the citadel; [1] and his name was Mordecai, [3] the son of Jair the son of Shimei [3] the son of Kish, [2] a Benjamite, [1]
	⁶אֲשֶׁ֤ר הׇגְלָה֙ [3] Pashta מִיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef עִם־הַגֹּלָה֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר הׇגְלְתָ֔ה [2] Zaqef עִ֖ם [2] Tip'cha יְכׇנְיָ֣ה מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֑ה [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֶגְלָ֔ה [2] Zaqef נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha מֶ֥לֶךְ בָּבֶֽל׃ [1] Silluq		⁶who had been taken into exile [3] from Jerusalem, [2] with the exiles [3] who had been taken into exile [2] with [2] Jeconiah king of Judah; [1] whom he had taken into exile, [2] Nebuchadnezzar [2] king of Babylon. 	⁷וַיְהִ֨י אֹמֵ֜ן [4] Geresh אֶת־הֲדַסָּ֗ה [3] Revi'i הִ֤יא אֶסְתֵּר֙ [3] Pashta בַּת־דֹּד֔וֹ [2] Zaqef כִּ֛י [3] Tevir אֵ֥ין לָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha אָ֣ב וָאֵ֑ם [1] Etnachta וְהַנַּעֲרָ֤ה יְפַת־תֹּ֙אַר֙ [3 3] Pashta וְטוֹבַ֣ת מַרְאֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef וּבְמ֤וֹת אָבִ֙יהָ֙ [3 3] Pashta וְאִמָּ֔הּ [2] Zaqef לְקָחָ֧הּ מׇרְדֳּכַ֛י [3] Tevir ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha לְבַֽת׃ [1] Silluq		⁷And he raised [4] Hadassah, [3] that is, Esther, [3] the daughter of his uncle, [2] for [3] she had no [2] father or mother; [1] and the young woman was beautiful of shape [3 3] and good of appearance, [2] and at the death of her father [3 3] and her mother, [2] Mordecai took her [3] as his own [2] daughter. 	⁸וַיְהִ֗י [3] Revi'i בְּהִשָּׁמַ֤ע דְּבַר־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta וְדָת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef וּֽבְהִקָּבֵ֞ץ [4] Gershayim נְעָר֥וֹת רַבּ֛וֹת [3] Tevir אֶל־שׁוּשַׁ֥ן הַבִּירָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֶל־יַ֣ד הֵגָ֑י [1] Etnachta וַתִּלָּקַ֤ח אֶסְתֵּר֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־בֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ [2] Zaqef אֶל־יַ֥ד הֵגַ֖י [2] Tip'cha שֹׁמֵ֥ר הַנָּשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq		⁸And it was, [3] when were heard the edict of the king [3 3] and his orders, [2] and when were gathered [4] many young women [3] to Susa the citadel, [2] into the hand of Hegai; [1] Esther was taken [3] to the house of the king, [2] into the hand of Hegai, [2] keeper of the women. [1]
	⁹וַתִּיטַ֨ב הַנַּעֲרָ֣ה בְעֵינָיו֮ [3] Zarqa וַתִּשָּׂ֣א חֶ֣סֶד לְפָנָיו֒ [2] Segol וַ֠יְבַהֵ֠ל [4 4] TelishaG אֶת־תַּמְרוּקֶ֤יהָ וְאֶת־מָנוֹתֶ֙הָ֙ [3 3] Pashta לָתֵ֣ת לָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef וְאֵת֙ [3] Pashta שֶׁ֣בַע הַנְּעָר֔וֹת [2] Zaqef הָרְאֻי֥וֹת לָֽתֶת־לָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha מִבֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ [1] Etnachta וַיְשַׁנֶּ֧הָ וְאֶת־נַעֲרוֹתֶ֛יהָ [3] Tevir לְט֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha בֵּ֥ית הַנָּשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq		⁹And the young woman was good in his eyes, [3] and she obtained kindness from him, [2] and he quickly began [4 4] her beauty treatments and her portions [3 3] to give to her, [2] and [3] the seven servant girls, [2] chosen to give to her [2] from the house of the king; [1] and he moved her and her servant girls [3] to the best place [2] in the women’s house. [1]
	¹⁰לֹא־הִגִּ֣ידָה אֶסְתֵּ֔ר [2] Zaqef אֶת־עַמָּ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha וְאֶת־מֽוֹלַדְתָּ֑הּ [1] Etnachta כִּ֧י מׇרְדֳּכַ֛י [3] Tevir צִוָּ֥ה עָלֶ֖יהָ [2] Tip'cha אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־תַגִּֽיד׃ [1] Silluq ס		¹⁰Esther had not made known [2] her people [2] or her kindred; [1] for Mordecai, [3] he had instructed her [2] that she should not make it known. 	¹¹וּבְכׇל־י֣וֹם וָי֔וֹם [2] Zaqef מׇרְדֳּכַי֙ [3] Pashta מִתְהַלֵּ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef לִפְנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha חֲצַ֣ר בֵּית־הַנָּשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta לָדַ֙עַת֙ [3 3] Pashta אֶת־שְׁל֣וֹם אֶסְתֵּ֔ר [2] Zaqef וּמַה־יֵּעָשֶׂ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq		¹¹And day after day, [2] Mordecai [3] walked back and forth [2] in front of [2] the court of the women’s house; [1] to find out [3 3] how Esther was doing, [2] and what was done [2] with her. [1]
	¹²וּבְהַגִּ֡יעַ [4] Pazer תֹּר֩ נַעֲרָ֨ה וְנַעֲרָ֜ה [4] Geresh לָב֣וֹא ׀ [4] Legarmeh אֶל־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֗וֹשׁ [3] Revi'i מִקֵּץ֩ הֱי֨וֹת לָ֜הּ [4] Geresh כְּדָ֤ת הַנָּשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta שְׁנֵ֣ים עָשָׂ֣ר חֹ֔דֶשׁ [2] Zaqef כִּ֛י [3] Tevir כֵּ֥ן יִמְלְא֖וּ [2] Tip'cha יְמֵ֣י מְרוּקֵיהֶ֑ן [1] Etnachta שִׁשָּׁ֤ה חֳדָשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta בְּשֶׁ֣מֶן הַמֹּ֔ר [2] Zaqef וְשִׁשָּׁ֤ה חֳדָשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta בַּבְּשָׂמִ֔ים [2] Zaqef וּבְתַמְרוּקֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha הַנָּשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq		¹²And when arrived [4] the turn of each young woman [4] to go [4] to King Ahasuerus, [3] after the time set for her [4] according to the regulation of the women, [3] of two plus ten months, [2] (for [3] thus they were completed [2] the days of their beauty treatments; [1] six months [3] with oil of myrrh, [2] and six months [3] with balsam oil [2] and with the beauty treatments [2] of the women), [1]
	¹³וּבָזֶ֕ה [2] ZaqefG הַֽנַּעֲרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha בָּאָ֣ה אֶל־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ [1] Etnachta אֵת֩ כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֨ר תֹּאמַ֜ר [4] Geresh יִנָּ֤תֵֽן לָהּ֙ [3] Pashta לָב֣וֹא עִמָּ֔הּ [2] Zaqef מִבֵּ֥ית הַנָּשִׁ֖ים [2] Tip'cha עַד־בֵּ֥ית הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq		¹³in this way [2] the young woman [2] went into the king; [1] all that she requested, [4] it was given to her [3] to go with her, [2] from the house of the women [2] to the house of the king. [1]
	¹⁴בָּעֶ֣רֶב ׀ [4] Legarmeh הִ֣יא בָאָ֗ה [3] Revi'i וּ֠בַבֹּ֠קֶר [4 4] TelishaG הִ֣יא שָׁבָ֞ה [4] Gershayim אֶל־בֵּ֤ית הַנָּשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta שֵׁנִ֔י [2] Zaqef אֶל־יַ֧ד שַֽׁעַשְׁגַ֛ז [3] Tevir סְרִ֥יס הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha שֹׁמֵ֣ר הַפִּֽילַגְשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta לֹא־תָב֥וֹא עוֹד֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ [2] Zaqef כִּ֣י אִם־חָפֵ֥ץ בָּ֛הּ [3] Tevir הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha וְנִקְרְאָ֥ה בְשֵֽׁם׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁴In the evening [4] she went, [3] and in the morning [4 4] she returned [4] to the house of the women, [3] the second, [2] in the hand of Shaashgaz [3] the eunuch of the king, [2] the keeper of the concubines. [1] She didn't go again [3] into the king, [2] unless he delighted in her, [3] the king, [2] and she was called by name. [1]
	¹⁵וּבְהַגִּ֣יעַ תֹּר־אֶסְתֵּ֣ר בַּת־אֲבִיחַ֣יִל דֹּ֣ד מׇרְדֳּכַ֡י [4] Pazer אֲשֶׁר֩ לָקַֽח־ל֨וֹ לְבַ֜ת [4] Geresh לָב֣וֹא אֶל־הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ [3] Revi'i לֹ֤א בִקְשָׁה֙ [3] Pashta דָּבָ֔ר [2] Zaqef כִּ֠י [4] TelishaG אִ֣ם אֶת־אֲשֶׁ֥ר יֹאמַ֛ר [3] Tevir הֵגַ֥י סְרִיס־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha שֹׁמֵ֣ר הַנָּשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta וַתְּהִ֤י אֶסְתֵּר֙ [3] Pashta נֹשֵׂ֣את חֵ֔ן [2] Zaqef בְּעֵינֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha כׇּל־רֹאֶֽיהָ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁵Now when arrived the turn of Esther the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, [4] whom he had taken as his own daughter, [4] to go to the king, [3] she didn't request [3] anything, [2] but [4] what he advised, [3] Hegai the eunuch of the king, [2] the keeper of the women; [1] and Esther [3] gained favor [2] in the eyes [2] of all those who saw her. [1]
	¹⁶וַתִּלָּקַ֨ח אֶסְתֵּ֜ר [4] Geresh אֶל־הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁ֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־בֵּ֣ית מַלְכוּת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ הָעֲשִׂירִ֖י [2] Tip'cha הוּא־חֹ֣דֶשׁ טֵבֵ֑ת [1] Etnachta בִּשְׁנַת־שֶׁ֖בַע [2] Tip'cha לְמַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁶So Esther was taken [4] to King Ahasuerus, [3] into his royal house, [2] in the tenth month [2] which is the month of Tebeth; [1] in year seven [2] of his reign. [1]
	¹⁷וַיֶּאֱהַ֨ב הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ אֶת־אֶסְתֵּר֙ [3] Pashta מִכׇּל־הַנָּשִׁ֔ים [2] Zaqef וַתִּשָּׂא־חֵ֥ן וָחֶ֛סֶד [3] Tevir לְפָנָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha מִכׇּל־הַבְּתוּל֑וֹת [1] Etnachta וַיָּ֤שֶׂם כֶּֽתֶר־מַלְכוּת֙ [3] Pashta בְּרֹאשָׁ֔הּ [2] Zaqef וַיַּמְלִיכֶ֖הָ [2] Tip'cha תַּ֥חַת וַשְׁתִּֽי׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁷And the king loved Esther [3] more than all the women, [2] and she gained favor and kindness [3] before him, [2] more than all the virgins; [1] and he put the royal crown [3] on her head, [2] and he made her queen [2] in place of Vashti. [1]
	¹⁸וַיַּ֨עַשׂ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ [4] Geresh מִשְׁתֶּ֣ה גָד֗וֹל [3] Revi'i לְכׇל־שָׂרָיו֙ [3] Pashta וַעֲבָדָ֔יו [2] Zaqef אֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה אֶסְתֵּ֑ר [1] Etnachta וַהֲנָחָ֤ה לַמְּדִינוֹת֙ [3] Pashta עָשָׂ֔ה [2] Zaqef וַיִּתֵּ֥ן מַשְׂאֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha כְּיַ֥ד הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁸Then the king made [4] a great feast [3] for all his officials [3] and his servants, [2] -- [2] the feast of Esther; [1] and a holiday for the provinces [3] he proclaimed, [2] and he gave gifts [2] according to the hand of the king. [1]
	¹⁹וּבְהִקָּבֵ֥ץ בְּתוּל֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha שֵׁנִ֑ית [1] Etnachta וּמׇרְדֳּכַ֖י [2] Tip'cha יֹשֵׁ֥ב בְּשַֽׁעַר־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁹And when virgins were gathered [2] a second time; [1] Mordecai [2] was sitting in the gate of the king. [1]
	²⁰אֵ֣ין אֶסְתֵּ֗ר [3] Revi'i מַגֶּ֤דֶת מֽוֹלַדְתָּהּ֙ [3] Pashta וְאֶת־עַמָּ֔הּ [2] Zaqef כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר [3] Tevir צִוָּ֥ה עָלֶ֖יהָ [2] Tip'cha מׇרְדֳּכָ֑י [1] Etnachta וְאֶת־מַאֲמַ֤ר מׇרְדֳּכַי֙ [3] Pashta אֶסְתֵּ֣ר עֹשָׂ֔ה [2] Zaqef כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר [3] Tevir הָיְתָ֥ה בְאׇמְנָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אִתּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq ס		²⁰Esther had not [3] made known her kindred [3] or her people, [2] just as [3] he had commanded her, [2] Mordecai; [1] for the command of Mordecai [3] Esther obeyed, [2] just as [3] she had done when she was brought up [2] by him. 	²¹בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef וּמׇרְדֳּכַ֖י [2] Tip'cha יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בְּשַֽׁעַר־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ [1] Etnachta קָצַף֩ בִּגְתָ֨ן וָתֶ֜רֶשׁ [4] Geresh שְׁנֵֽי־סָרִיסֵ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta מִשֹּׁמְרֵ֣י הַסַּ֔ף [2] Zaqef וַיְבַקְשׁוּ֙ [3] Pashta לִשְׁלֹ֣חַ יָ֔ד [2] Zaqef בַּמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha אֲחַשְׁוֵרֹֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq		²¹In those days, [2] while Mordecai [2] was sitting in the gate of the king; [1] they were angry, Bigthan and Teresh, [4] two of the eunuchs of the king, [3 3] who were doorkeepers, [2] and they sought [3] to lay hands [2] on the King [2] Ahasuerus. [1]
	²²וַיִּוָּדַ֤ע הַדָּבָר֙ [3] Pashta לְמׇרְדֳּכַ֔י [2] Zaqef וַיַּגֵּ֖ד [2] Tip'cha לְאֶסְתֵּ֣ר הַמַּלְכָּ֑ה [1] Etnachta וַתֹּ֧אמֶר אֶסְתֵּ֛ר [3] Tevir לַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha בְּשֵׁ֥ם מׇרְדֳּכָֽי׃ [1] Silluq		²²But the matter was made known [3] to Mordecai, [2] and he told [2] Esther the queen; [1] and Esther spoke [3] to the king [2] in the name of Mordecai. [1]
	²³וַיְבֻקַּ֤שׁ הַדָּבָר֙ [3] Pashta וַיִּמָּצֵ֔א [2] Zaqef וַיִּתָּל֥וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha עַל־עֵ֑ץ [1] Etnachta וַיִּכָּתֵ֗ב [3] Revi'i בְּסֵ֛פֶר [3] Tevir דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq פ		²³When the matter was investigated, [3] it was found to be so, [2] and the two of them were hanged [2] on a gallows; [1] and it was written [3] in the book [3] of the chronicles, [2] before the king.
