1 After [3] these things, [2] the anger [2] of King Ahasuerus; [1] and what she had done, [2] against her. [1] |

2 וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ נַעֲרֵֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha מְשָׁרְתָ֑יו [1] Etnachta נְעָר֥וֹת בְּתוּל֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha טוֹב֥וֹת מַרְאֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And they said, the young men of the king [2] who served him; [1] young virgins [2] of good appearance. [1] |

3 וְיַפְקֵ֨ד הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ פְּקִידִים֮ [3] Zarqa בְּכׇל־מְדִינ֣וֹת מַלְכוּתוֹ֒ [2] Segol טוֹבַ֨ת מַרְאֶ֜ה [4] Geresh אֶל־שׁוּשַׁ֤ן הַבִּירָה֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־בֵּ֣ית הַנָּשִׁ֔ים [2] Zaqef סְרִ֥יס הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha שֹׁמֵ֣ר הַנָּשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta תַּמְרֻקֵיהֶֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
3 And let the king appoint officers [3] in all the provinces of his kingdom, [2] of good appearance [4] to the citadel of Susa, [3] to the women’s house, [2] the king’s eunuch, [2] the keeper of the women; [1] beauty treatments to them, [1] |

4 וְהַֽנַּעֲרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i אֲשֶׁ֤ר תִּיטַב֙ [3] Pashta בְּעֵינֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ [2] Zaqef תַּ֣חַת וַשְׁתִּ֑י [1] Etnachta בְּעֵינֵ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha וַיַּ֥עַשׂ כֵּֽן׃ [1] Silluq פ |

7 And he raised [4] Hadassah, [3] the daughter of his uncle, [2] she had no [2] father or mother; [1] and good of appearance, [2] and her mother, [2] as his own [2] daughter. [1] |

8 וַיְהִ֗י [3] Revi'i בְּהִשָּׁמַ֤ע דְּבַר־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ [3 3] Pashta וְדָת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef נְעָר֥וֹת רַבּ֛וֹת [3] Tevir אֶל־שׁוּשַׁ֥ן הַבִּירָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֶל־יַ֣ד הֵגָ֑י [1] Etnachta אֶל־בֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ [2] Zaqef שֹׁמֵ֥ר הַנָּשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And it was, [3] when were heard the edict of the king [3 3] and his orders, [2] many young women [3] to Susa the citadel, [2] into the hand of Hegai; [1] to the house of the king, [2] keeper of the women. [1] |

9 וַתִּיטַ֨ב הַנַּעֲרָ֣ה בְעֵינָיו֮ [3] Zarqa וַתִּשָּׂ֣א חֶ֣סֶד לְפָנָיו֒ [2] Segol אֶת־תַּמְרוּקֶ֤יהָ וְאֶת־מָנוֹתֶ֙הָ֙ [3 3] Pashta לָתֵ֣ת לָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef שֶׁ֣בַע הַנְּעָר֔וֹת [2] Zaqef מִבֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ [1] Etnachta לְט֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha בֵּ֥ית הַנָּשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq |
9 And the young woman was good in his eyes, [3] and she obtained kindness from him, [2] her beauty treatments and her portions [3 3] to give to her, [2] the seven servant girls, [2] from the house of the king; [1] to the best place [2] in the women’s house. [1] |

10 Esther had not made known [2] her people [2] or her kindred; [1] he had instructed her [2] that she should not make it known. [1] § |

11 And day after day, [2] walked back and forth [2] the court of the women’s house; [1] how Esther was doing, [2] with her. [1] |

12 וּבְהַגִּ֡יעַ [4] Pazer תֹּר֩ נַעֲרָ֨ה וְנַעֲרָ֜ה [4] Geresh לָב֣וֹא ׀ [4] Legarmeh אֶל־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֗וֹשׁ [3] Revi'i כְּדָ֤ת הַנָּשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta שְׁנֵ֣ים עָשָׂ֣ר חֹ֔דֶשׁ [2] Zaqef כֵּ֥ן יִמְלְא֖וּ [2] Tip'cha יְמֵ֣י מְרוּקֵיהֶ֑ן [1] Etnachta בְּשֶׁ֣מֶן הַמֹּ֔ר [2] Zaqef בַּבְּשָׂמִ֔ים [2] Zaqef הַנָּשִֽׁים׃ [1] Silluq |

13 in this way [2] the young woman [2] went into the king; [1] it was given to her [3] to go with her, [2] to the house of the king. [1] |

15 Now when arrived the turn of Esther the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, [4] whom he had taken as his own daughter, [4] to go to the king, [3] anything, [2] what he advised, [3] Hegai the eunuch of the king, [2] the keeper of the women; [1] gained favor [2] of all those who saw her. 16 So Esther was taken [4] to King Ahasuerus, [3] into his royal house, [2] which is the month of Tebeth; [1] of his reign. [1] |

17 And the king loved Esther [3] more than all the women, [2] before him, [2] more than all the virgins; [1] on her head, [2] in place of Vashti. [1] |

18 וַיַּ֨עַשׂ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ [4] Geresh מִשְׁתֶּ֣ה גָד֗וֹל [3] Revi'i וַעֲבָדָ֔יו [2] Zaqef מִשְׁתֵּ֣ה אֶסְתֵּ֑ר [1] Etnachta עָשָׂ֔ה [2] Zaqef כְּיַ֥ד הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
18 Then the king made [4] a great feast [3] and his servants, [2] the feast of Esther; [1] he proclaimed, [2] according to the hand of the king. [1] |

19 וּבְהִקָּבֵ֥ץ בְּתוּל֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha שֵׁנִ֑ית [1] Etnachta יֹשֵׁ֥ב בְּשַֽׁעַר־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
19 And when virgins were gathered [2] a second time; [1] was sitting in the gate of the king. [1] |

22 But the matter was made known [3] to Mordecai, [2] Esther the queen; [1] to the king [2] in the name of Mordecai. [1] |
