שמות 16 | Exodus 16 | |||
1 And they set out [3] from Elim, [2] all the congregation of the children of Israel, [3] to the wilderness of Sin, [2] and Sinai; [1] of the second month [2] from the land of Egypt. [1] |
2 But they murmured, [4] all the congregation of the children of Israel, [3] against Moses and against Aaron [2] in the wilderness, [1] |
3 and they said to them, [4] the children of Israel, [3] in the land of Egypt, [2] by pots of meat, [2] in abundance; [1] into this wilderness, [2] all this assembly [2] with hunger.” [1] § |
4 Then the LORD said [3] to Moses, [2] bread [2] from the heavens; [1] a day’s portion every day, [2] whether they will walk in my law [2] or not. [1] |
5 And it shall be [3] on the sixth day, [2] what they bring in; [1] what they gather [2] day by day.” [1] |
6 So Moses said, [3] and Aaron, [2] of Israel; [1] and you shall know, [2] he has brought you out [2] from the land of Egypt. [1] |
7 And morning, [3] then you shall see [3] the glory of the LORD, [2] against the LORD; [1] that you grumble [2] against us?” [1] |
8 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֗ה [3] Revi'i בָּשָׂ֣ר לֶאֱכֹ֗ל [3] Revi'i לִשְׂבֹּ֔עַ [2] Zaqef אֶת־תְּלֻנֹּ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef עָלָ֑יו [1] Etnachta לֹא־עָלֵ֥ינוּ תְלֻנֹּתֵיכֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha כִּ֥י עַל־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
8 Then Moses said, [3] meat to eat, [3] to be satisfied, [2] your grumblings [2] against him; [1] Your grumblings are not against us [2] but against the LORD.” [1] |
9 And Moses said [3] to Aaron, [2] to all the congregation [3] of the children of Israel, [2] before the LORD; [1] -- [2] your grumblings.’ ” [1] |
10 And it was, [3] as Aaron spoke [3] to all the congregation of the children of Israel, [2] toward the wilderness; [1] the glory of the LORD, [2] in the cloud. [1] ¶ |
[1] Silluq |
11 And the LORD spoke [2] to Moses saying, [1] |
12 “I have heard [3] the grumblings [3] of the children of Israel. [2] saying, [3] you shall eat meat, [2] you shall be satisfied with bread; [1] I am the LORD [2] your God.’ ” [1] |
13 So it was, in the evening, [2] quail came up [2] and they covered [2] the camp; [1] it was, [3] a layer of dew [2] the camp. [1] |
14 When it was gone, [2] the layer of dew; [1] on the surface of the wilderness [3] was something thin and flake-like, [2] on the ground. [1] |
15 When the children of Israel saw, [3] one to another, [3] “What is it?” [2] they didn’t know [2] what it was; [1] to them, [2] to you [2] to eat. [1] |
16 “This is the word [3] which the LORD commands, [2] each one [2] according to his needs; [1] the number [3] of your people, [2] for those who are in his tent, [2] you shall take.’ ” [1] |
[1] Silluq |
17 And they did so, [2] the children of Israel; [1] some more [2] and some less. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
18 When they measured it by the omer, [2] the one who gathered more, [2] he had no lack; [1] they gathered. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
19 And Moses said [2] to them; [1] let him not leave any of it [2] until morning.” [1] |
20 But they didn’t listen to Moses, [3] and some of the people left part of it [3 3] until morning, [2] and it smelled bad; [1] Moses. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
21 So they gathered it [3] morning by morning, [2] according to his needs; [1] it melted. [1] |
22 And it was, [4] on the sixth day, [3] double, [2] for each one; [1] all the leaders of the congregation, [2] Moses. [1] |
23 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i ה֚וּא [3] Yetiv אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef לַֽיהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha מָחָ֑ר [1] Etnachta אֵפ֗וּ [3] Revi'i בַּשֵּׁ֔לוּ [2] Zaqef כׇּל־הָ֣עֹדֵ֔ף [2] Zaqef לְמִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת [2] Tip'cha עַד־הַבֹּֽקֶר׃ [1] Silluq |
23 And he said to them, [3] “It [3] is what the LORD has said, [2] to the LORD [2] is tomorrow; [1] bake, [3] boil, [2] all that remains [2] to be kept [2] until the morning.’ ” [1] |
24 So they left it [3] until the morning [2] Moses had instructed; [1] and any worm, [2] it was not in it. [1] |
25 Then Moses said, [3] “Eat it today, [2] to the LORD; [1] you shall not find it [2] in the field. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
26 Six days [2] you shall gather it; [1] a Sabbath, [2] on it there shall be none.” [1] |
27 And it was, [3] on the seventh day, [2] to gather; [1] they found. [1] § |
[1] Silluq |
28 And the LORD said [2] to Moses; [1] will you refuse [2] and my laws? [1] |
29 רְא֗וּ [3] Revi'i כִּֽי־יְהֹוָה֮ [3] Zarqa נָתַ֣ן לָכֶ֣ם הַשַּׁבָּת֒ [2] Segol ה֣וּא נֹתֵ֥ן לָכֶ֛ם [3] Tevir בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשִּׁשִּׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha לֶ֣חֶם יוֹמָ֑יִם [1] Etnachta אִ֣ישׁ תַּחְתָּ֗יו [3] Revi'i מִמְּקֹמ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha |
29 Look, [3] the LORD, [3] he has given you the Sabbath, [2] he gives you [3] on the sixth day, [2] the bread of two days; [1] each one in his place, [3] from his place [2] |
[1] Silluq |
30 So the people rested [2] on the seventh day. [1] |
31 And the house of Israel called [3] its name [2] “Manna”; [1] was like coriander seed, [3] white, [2] was like a wafer with honey. [1] |
32 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֗ה [3] Revi'i זֶ֤ה הַדָּבָר֙ [3] Pashta אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef מִמֶּ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta יִרְא֣וּ אֶת־הַלֶּ֗חֶם [3] Revi'i בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר [2] Zaqef מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq |
32 Then Moses said, [3] “This is the word [3] which the LORD has commanded, [2] of it [2] throughout your generations; [1] they may see the bread [3] in the wilderness, [2] from the land of Egypt.’ ” [1] |
33 And Moses said [4] to Aaron, [3] one jar, [2] of manna; [1] before the LORD [2] throughout your generations.” [1] |
34 Just as [3] the LORD had commanded [2] Moses; [1] before the Testimony [2] to be kept. [1] |
35 And the children of Israel, [3] they ate the manna [3] forty years, [2] to an inhabited land; [1] they ate [2] to the border [2] of the land of Canaan. [1] |
36 Now an omer, [2] a tenth of an efah [2] it is. [1] ¶ |
