1 Now when they heard, [2] the adversaries of Judah [2] and Benjamin; [1] were building a temple [2] the God of Israel, [1] |

2 וַיִּגְּשׁ֨וּ אֶל־זְרֻבָּבֶ֜ל [4] Geresh וְאֶל־רָאשֵׁ֣י הָֽאָב֗וֹת [3] Revi'i נִבְנֶ֣ה עִמָּכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef נִדְר֖וֹשׁ [2] Tip'cha לֵֽאלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta אֲנַ֣חְנוּ זֹבְחִ֗ים [3] Revi'i אֵסַ֤ר חַדֹּן֙ [3] Pashta מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר [2] Zaqef פֹּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 they came near to Zerubbabel [4] and to the heads of the fathers’ households, [3] “Let us build with you, [2] we seek [2] your God; [1] we have been sacrificing [3] of Esar Haddon [3] king of Assyria, [2] here.” [1] |

3 וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ לָהֶ֨ם זְרֻבָּבֶ֜ל [4] Geresh וְיֵשׁ֗וּעַ [3] Revi'i לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef לִבְנ֥וֹת בַּ֖יִת [2] Tip'cha לֵאלֹהֵ֑ינוּ [1] Etnachta נִבְנֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha כּ֥וֹרֶשׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־פָּרָֽס׃ [1] Silluq |
3 But Zerubbabel said to them, [4] and Yeshua, [3] of Israel, [2] in building a house [2] for our God; [1] we will build it [3] the God of Israel, [2] the king, [2] Cyrus king of Persia.” [1] |

5 וְסֹכְרִ֧ים עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם [3] Tevir יוֹעֲצִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha לְהָפֵ֣ר עֲצָתָ֑ם [1] Etnachta כּ֚וֹרֶשׁ [3] Yetiv מֶ֣לֶךְ פָּרַ֔ס [2] Zaqef דָּרְיָ֥וֶשׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־פָּרָֽס׃ [1] Silluq |
5 hiring against them [3] counselors [2] to frustrate their purpose; [1] of Cyrus [3] king of Persia, [2] of Darius king of Persia. [1] |

15 that [4] he will search in the book of the records [4] of your fathers, [3] in the book of the records [3] and you will know, [2] is a rebellious city, [3] and provinces, [2] have been started within it [2] of antiquity. [1] this city, [2] it was destroyed. [1] |

16 We make known [3 3] to the king, [2] if this city, [3] it is built, [2] they are finished; [1] in the region beyond the River [2] yours. [1] ¶ |

17 The word [4] the king sent [3] and Shimshai the scribe, [2] of their companions [2] in Samaria; [1] Peace. [2] And now [1] ¶ |

19 וּמִנִּי֮ [3] Zarqa שִׂ֣ים טְעֵם֒ [2] Segol קִרְיְתָ֣א דָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef עָֽלְמָ֔א [2] Zaqef מִֽתְנַשְּׂאָ֑ה [1] Etnachta מִתְעֲבֶד־בַּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
19 And from me [3] a decree was made, [2] this city, [2] of antiquity [2] has risen up; [1] have been done by it. [1] |

20 וּמַלְכִ֣ין תַּקִּיפִ֗ין [3] Revi'i הֲווֹ֙ [3] Pashta עַל־יְר֣וּשְׁלֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef בְּכֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha עֲבַ֣ר נַהֲרָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וַהֲלָ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha מִתְיְהֵ֥ב לְהֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq |
20 And mighty kings [3] there have been [3] over Jerusalem, [2] over all [2] the region beyond the River; [1] and toll [2] was paid to them. [1] |

21 Now [3] make a decree [2] these men; [1] it will not be built, [2] a decree is made. [1] |

22 וּזְהִירִ֥ין הֱו֛וֹ [3] Tevir שָׁל֖וּ [2] Tip'cha לְמֶעְבַּ֣ד עַל־דְּנָ֑ה [1] Etnachta יִשְׂגֵּ֣א חֲבָלָ֔א [2] Zaqef מַלְכִֽין׃ [1] Silluq ס |
22 And be careful [3] and not slack [2] to do this. [1] should the damage grow great, [2] of the kings? [1] § |
