	⁴אֱדַ֥יִן כְּנֵ֖מָא [2] Tip'cha אֲמַ֣רְנָא לְּהֹ֑ם [1] Etnachta מַן־אִנּוּן֙ [3] Pashta שְׁמָהָ֣ת גֻּבְרַיָּ֔א [2] Zaqef דִּֽי־דְנָ֥ה בִנְיָנָ֖א [2] Tip'cha בָּנַֽיִן׃ [1] Silluq		⁴Then like this [2] we said to them; [1] “What are they, [3] the names of the men [2] who this building [2] are building? [1]
	⁵וְעֵ֣ין אֱלָהֲהֹ֗ם [3] Revi'i הֲוָת֙ [3] Pashta עַל־שָׂבֵ֣י יְהוּדָיֵ֔א [2] Zaqef וְלָא־בַטִּ֣לוּ הִמּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef עַד־טַעְמָ֖א [2] Tip'cha לְדָרְיָ֣וֶשׁ יְהָ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta וֶאֱדַ֛יִן [3] Tevir יְתִיב֥וּן נִשְׁתְּוָנָ֖א [2] Tip'cha עַל־דְּנָֽה׃ [1] Silluq פ		⁵But the eye of their God, [3] it was [3] on the elders of the Jews, [2] and they didn’t make them cease, [2] until the report [2] to Darius should come; [1] and then [3] they should send back the letter [2] concerning this. 	⁶פַּרְשֶׁ֣גֶן אִ֠גַּרְתָּ֠א [4 4] TelishaG דִּֽי־שְׁלַ֞ח [4] Gershayim תַּתְּנַ֣י ׀ [4] Legarmeh פַּחַ֣ת עֲבַֽר־נַהֲרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i וּשְׁתַ֤ר בּוֹזְנַי֙ [3] Pashta וּכְנָ֣וָתֵ֔הּ [2] Zaqef אֲפַ֨רְסְכָיֵ֔א [2] Zaqef דִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha בַּעֲבַ֣ר נַהֲרָ֑ה [1] Etnachta עַל־דָּרְיָ֖וֶשׁ [2] Tip'cha מַלְכָּֽא׃ [1] Silluq		⁶The copy of the letter [4 4] which he sent, [4] Tattenai, [4] the governor of the region beyond the River, [3] and Shetharbozenai [3] and his companions, [2] the Apharsachites, [2] who [2] were in the region beyond the River; [1] to Darius [2] the king. 	⁷פִּתְגָמָ֖א [2] Tip'cha שְׁלַ֣חוּ עֲל֑וֹהִי [1] Etnachta וְכִדְנָה֙ [3] Pashta כְּתִ֣יב בְּגַוֵּ֔הּ [2] Zaqef לְדָרְיָ֥וֶשׁ מַלְכָּ֖א [2] Tip'cha שְׁלָמָ֥א כֹֽלָּא׃ [1] Silluq ס		⁷The word [2] they sent to him; [1] and like this [3] it was written, [2] “To Darius the king, [2] all peace. [1] §
	⁸יְדִ֣יעַ ׀ [4] Legarmeh לֶהֱוֵ֣א לְמַלְכָּ֗א [3] Revi'i דִּֽי־אֲזַ֜לְנָא [4] Geresh לִיה֤וּד מְדִֽינְתָּא֙ [3] Pashta לְבֵית֙ [3] Pashta אֱלָהָ֣א רַבָּ֔א [2] Zaqef וְה֤וּא מִתְבְּנֵא֙ [3] Pashta אֶ֣בֶן גְּלָ֔ל [2] Zaqef וְאָ֖ע [2] Tip'cha מִתְּשָׂ֣ם בְּכֻתְלַיָּ֑א [1] Etnachta וַעֲבִ֥ידְתָּא דָ֛ךְ [3] Tevir אׇסְפַּ֥רְנָא מִתְעַבְדָ֖א [2] Tip'cha וּמַצְלַ֥ח בְּיֶדְהֹֽם׃ [1] Silluq		⁸Known [4] let it be to the king, [3] that we went [4] to Judea the province, [3] to the house [3] of the great God, [2] and it is being built [3] with great stones, [2] and timber [2] is being laid in the walls; [1] and this work [3] goes on with diligence [2] and prospers in their hands. [1]

	¹⁰וְאַ֧ף שְׁמָהָתְהֹ֛ם [3] Tevir שְׁאֵ֥לְנָא לְּהֹ֖ם [2] Tip'cha לְהוֹדָעוּתָ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta דִּ֛י [3] Tevir נִכְתֻּ֥ב שֻׁם־גֻּבְרַיָּ֖א [2] Tip'cha דִּ֥י בְרָאשֵׁיהֹֽם׃ [1] Silluq פ		¹⁰And also their names [3] we asked them, [2] to make known to you; [1] that [3] we might write the names of the men [2] who are at their head. [1] ¶
	¹¹וּכְנֵ֥מָא פִתְגָמָ֖א [2] Tip'cha הֲתִיב֣וּנָא לְמֵמַ֑ר [1] Etnachta אֲנַ֣חְנָא הִמּ֡וֹ [4] Pazer עַבְד֩וֹהִי֩ דִֽי־אֱלָ֨הּ שְׁמַיָּ֜א [4] Geresh וְאַרְעָ֗א [3] Revi'i וּבָנַ֤יִן בַּיְתָא֙ [3] Pashta דִּֽי־הֲוָ֨א בְנֵ֜ה [4] Geresh מִקַּדְמַ֤ת דְּנָה֙ [3] Pashta שְׁנִ֣ין שַׂגִּיאָ֔ן [2] Zaqef וּמֶ֤לֶךְ לְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Pashta רַ֔ב [2] Zaqef בְּנָ֖הִי [2] Tip'cha וְשַׁכְלְלֵֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq		¹¹And like this the word [2] they sent back to us saying; [1] “We are [4] servants of the God of the heavens [4] and the earth, [3] and we are building the house, [3] which was built [4] before this [3] many years, [2] and a king of Israel [3] great, [2] he built it [2] and he finished it. [1]
	¹²לָהֵ֗ן [3] Revi'i מִן־דִּ֨י הַרְגִּ֤זוּ אֲבָהָתַ֙נָא֙ [3 3] Pashta לֶאֱלָ֣הּ שְׁמַיָּ֔א [2] Zaqef יְהַ֣ב הִמּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef בְּיַ֛ד [3] Tevir נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֥ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֖ל [2] Tip'cha כסדיא *כַּסְדָּאָ֑ה [1] Etnachta וּבַיְתָ֤ה דְנָה֙ [3] Pashta סַתְרֵ֔הּ [2] Zaqef וְעַמָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha הַגְלִ֥י לְבָבֶֽל׃ [1] Silluq פ		¹²But [3] after our fathers had provoked to wrath [3 3] the God of the heavens, [2] he gave them [2] into the hand [3] of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, [2] the Kasdian; [1] and this house, [3] he destroyed it, [2] and the people, [2] he carried away to Babylon. [1] ¶
	¹³בְּרַם֙ [3] Pashta בִּשְׁנַ֣ת חֲדָ֔ה [2] Zaqef לְכ֥וֹרֶשׁ מַלְכָּ֖א [2] Tip'cha דִּ֣י בָבֶ֑ל [1] Etnachta כּ֤וֹרֶשׁ מַלְכָּא֙ [3] Pashta שָׂ֣ם טְעֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef בֵּית־אֱלָהָ֥א דְנָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לִבְּנֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq		¹³But [3] in the first year [2] of Cyrus the king [2] of Babylon; [1] Cyrus the king, [3] he made a decree, [2] this house of God [2] to build. [1]
	¹⁴וְ֠אַ֠ף [4 4] TelishaG מָאנַיָּ֣א דִֽי־בֵית־אֱלָהָא֮ [3] Zarqa דִּ֣י דַהֲבָ֣ה וְכַסְפָּא֒ [2] Segol דִּ֣י נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֗ר [3] Revi'i הַנְפֵּק֙ [3] Pashta מִן־הֵֽיכְלָא֙ [3] Pashta דִּ֣י בִֽירוּשְׁלֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef וְהֵיבֵ֣ל הִמּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef לְהֵיכְלָ֖א [2] Tip'cha דִּ֣י בָבֶ֑ל [1] Etnachta הַנְפֵּ֨ק הִמּ֜וֹ [4] Geresh כּ֣וֹרֶשׁ מַלְכָּ֗א [3] Revi'i מִן־הֵֽיכְלָא֙ [3] Pashta דִּ֣י בָבֶ֔ל [2] Zaqef וִיהִ֙יבוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta לְשֵׁשְׁבַּצַּ֣ר שְׁמֵ֔הּ [2] Zaqef דִּ֥י פֶחָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha שָׂמֵֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁴And also [4 4] the vessels of the house of God [3] of gold and silver, [2] which Nebuchadnezzar, [3] he had brought out [3] from the temple [3] that was in Jerusalem, [2] and he carried them [2] to the temple [2] of Babylon; [1] he brought them out, [4] Cyrus the king, [3] from the temple [3] of Babylon, [2] and they were given [3 3] to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, [2] whom governor [2] he had made him. [1]
	¹⁵וַאֲמַר־לֵ֓הּ ׀ [2] Shalshelet אלה *אֵ֚ל [3] Yetiv מָֽאנַיָּ֔א [2] Zaqef שֵׂ֚א [3] Yetiv אֵֽזֶל־אֲחֵ֣ת הִמּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef בְּהֵיכְלָ֖א [2] Tip'cha דִּ֣י בִירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta וּבֵ֥ית אֱלָהָ֖א [2] Tip'cha יִתְבְּנֵ֥א עַל־אַתְרֵֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq פ		¹⁵And he said to him, [2] ‘These [3] vessels, [2] take [3] go, put them [2] in the temple [2] that is in Jerusalem; [1] and the house of God, [2] let it be built in its place.’ [1] ¶
	¹⁶אֱדַ֙יִן֙ [3 3] Pashta שֵׁשְׁבַּצַּ֣ר דֵּ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef אֲתָ֗א [3] Revi'i יְהַ֧ב אֻשַּׁיָּ֛א [3] Tevir דִּי־בֵ֥ית אֱלָהָ֖א [2] Tip'cha דִּ֣י בִירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta וּמִן־אֱדַ֧יִן וְעַד־כְּעַ֛ן [3] Tevir מִתְבְּנֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha וְלָ֥א שְׁלִֽם׃ [1] Silluq		¹⁶Then [3 3] this Sheshbazzar, [2] he came, [3] he laid the foundations [3] of the house of God [2] which is in Jerusalem; [1] and from then until now [3] it is being built, [2] and yet it is not finished. [1]
	¹⁷וּכְעַ֞ן [4] Gershayim הֵ֧ן עַל־מַלְכָּ֣א טָ֗ב [3] Revi'i יִ֠תְבַּקַּ֠ר [4 4] TelishaG בְּבֵ֨ית גִּנְזַיָּ֜א [4] Geresh דִּי־מַלְכָּ֣א תַמָּה֮ [3] Zarqa דִּ֣י בְּבָבֶל֒ [2] Segol הֵ֣ן אִיתַ֗י [3] Revi'i דִּֽי־מִן־כּ֤וֹרֶשׁ מַלְכָּא֙ [3] Pashta שִׂ֣ים טְעֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef לְמִבְנֵ֛א [3] Tevir בֵּית־אֱלָהָ֥א דֵ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha בִּירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta וּרְע֥וּת מַלְכָּ֛א [3] Tevir עַל־דְּנָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha יִשְׁלַ֥ח עֲלֶֽינָא׃ [1] Silluq פ		¹⁷And now [4] if it seems good to the king, [3] let a search be made [4 4] in the house of the treasures [4] of the king there [3] which is in Babylon, [2] whether it is so, [3] that from Cyrus the king [3] a decree was made, [2] to build [3] this house of God [2] in Jerusalem; [1] and the will of the king [3] concerning this, [2] let him send to us.” [1] ¶
