1 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־אַבְרָ֔ם [2] Zaqef מֵאַרְצְךָ֥ וּמִמּֽוֹלַדְתְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha וּמִבֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַרְאֶֽךָּ׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Now the LORD said [3] to Abram, [2] from your country and from your relatives, [2] and from your father’s house; [1] that I will show you. [1] |

2 וְאֶֽעֶשְׂךָ֙ [3] Pashta לְג֣וֹי גָּד֔וֹל [2] Zaqef וַאֲגַדְּלָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha שְׁמֶ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta בְּרָכָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And I will make you [3] into a great nation, [2] and I will make great [2] your name; [1] a blessing. [1] |

3 וַאֲבָֽרְכָה֙ [3] Pashta מְבָ֣רְכֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef אָאֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta כֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת הָאֲדָמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
3 And I will bless [3] [those who] bless you, [2] I will curse; [1] all [2] the families of the earth.” [1] |

4 וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ אַבְרָ֗ם [3] Revi'i כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֤ר אֵלָיו֙ [3] Pashta יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef ל֑וֹט [1] Etnachta בֶּן־חָמֵ֤שׁ שָׁנִים֙ [3] Pashta וְשִׁבְעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה [2] Zaqef מֵחָרָֽן׃ [1] Silluq |
4 So Abram went, [3] just as he had said to him, [3] the LORD, [2] Lot; [1] was a son of five years [3] and seventy years, [2] from Haran. [1] |

5 וַיִּקַּ֣ח אַבְרָם֩ אֶת־שָׂרַ֨י אִשְׁתּ֜וֹ [4] Geresh וְאֶת־ל֣וֹט בֶּן־אָחִ֗יו [3] Revi'i אֲשֶׁ֣ר רָכָ֔שׁוּ [2] Zaqef אֲשֶׁר־עָשׂ֣וּ בְחָרָ֑ן [1] Etnachta לָלֶ֙כֶת֙ [3 3] Pashta אַ֣רְצָה כְּנַ֔עַן [2] Zaqef אַ֥רְצָה כְּנָֽעַן׃ [1] Silluq |
5 And Abram took Sarai his wife [4] and Lot the son of his brother, [3] which they had accumulated, [2] whom they had acquired in Haran; [1] to go [3 3] to the land of Canaan, [2] to the land of Canaan. [1] |

6 וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר אַבְרָם֙ [3] Pashta בָּאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef מְק֣וֹם שְׁכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef אֵל֣וֹן מוֹרֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta אָ֥ז בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
6 And Abram passed [3] through the land, [2] the place of Shechem, [2] the great tree of Moreh; [1] then were in the land. [1] |

7 וַיֵּרָ֤א יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־אַבְרָ֔ם [2] Zaqef לְזַ֨רְעֲךָ֔ [2] Zaqef אֶתֵּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha אֶת־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֑את [1] Etnachta מִזְבֵּ֔חַ [2] Zaqef הַנִּרְאֶ֥ה אֵלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
7 And the LORD appeared [3] to Abram, [2] “To your offspring [2] I will give [2] this land.” [1] an altar, [2] who had appeared to him. [1] |

8 וַיַּעְתֵּ֨ק מִשָּׁ֜ם [4] Geresh הָהָ֗רָה [3] Revi'i לְבֵֽית־אֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha וְהָעַ֣י מִקֶּ֔דֶם [2] Zaqef לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And he moved on from there [4] to the hill country [3] of Bethel, [2] and Ai on the east, [2] to the LORD, [2] on the name of the LORD. [1] |

9 וַיִּסַּ֣ע אַבְרָ֔ם [2] Zaqef הָל֥וֹךְ וְנָס֖וֹעַ [2] Tip'cha הַנֶּֽגְבָּה׃ [1] Silluq פ |
9 And Abram traveled, [2] continuing to travel [2] to the South. [1] ¶ |

10 וַיְהִ֥י רָעָ֖ב [2] Tip'cha בָּאָ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta לָג֣וּר שָׁ֔ם [2] Zaqef בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
10 And there was a famine [2] in the land; [1] to live as a foreigner there, [2] in the land. [1] |

11 וַיְהִ֕י [2] ZaqefG כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הִקְרִ֖יב [2] Tip'cha לָב֣וֹא מִצְרָ֑יְמָה [1] Etnachta אֶל־שָׂרַ֣י אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef אִשָּׁ֥ה יְפַת־מַרְאֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אָֽתְּ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 And it was, [2] when he had come near [2] to enter Egypt; [1] to Sarai his wife, [2] a woman beautiful to look at, [2] you are. [1] |

12 וְהָיָ֗ה [3] Revi'i כִּֽי־יִרְא֤וּ אֹתָךְ֙ [3] Pashta הַמִּצְרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef אִשְׁתּ֣וֹ זֹ֑את [1] Etnachta וְאֹתָ֥ךְ יְחַיּֽוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
12 And it will be, [3] that they will see you [3] the Egyptians, [2] ‘This is his wife,’ [1] and you they will let live. [1] |

13 אִמְרִי־נָ֖א [2] Tip'cha אֲחֹ֣תִי אָ֑תְּ [1] Etnachta יִֽיטַב־לִ֣י בַעֲבוּרֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef בִּגְלָלֵֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
13 Please say [2] you are my sister; [1] it may go well for me because of you, [2] on account of you.” [1] |

14 וַיְהִ֕י [2] ZaqefG כְּב֥וֹא אַבְרָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha מִצְרָ֑יְמָה [1] Etnachta אֶת־הָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef מְאֹֽד׃ [1] Silluq |
14 And it was, [2] when Abram entered [2] Egypt; [1] the woman, [2] very, [1] |

15 וַיִּרְא֤וּ אֹתָהּ֙ [3] Pashta שָׂרֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֑ה [1] Etnachta בֵּ֥ית פַּרְעֹֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
15 and they saw her, [3] the officials of Pharaoh, [2] to Pharaoh; [1] the house of Pharaoh. [1] |

16 וּלְאַבְרָ֥ם הֵיטִ֖יב [2] Tip'cha בַּעֲבוּרָ֑הּ [1] Etnachta וַחֲמֹרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef וּשְׁפָחֹ֔ת [2] Zaqef וּגְמַלִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
16 And with Abram he dealt well [2] because of her; [1] and male donkeys, [2] and female servants, [2] and camels. [1] |

17 וַיְנַגַּ֨ע יְהֹוָ֧ה ׀ אֶת־פַּרְעֹ֛ה [3] Tevir נְגָעִ֥ים גְּדֹלִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וְאֶת־בֵּית֑וֹ [1] Etnachta אֵ֥שֶׁת אַבְרָֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
17 And the LORD afflicted Pharaoh [3] with great plagues, [2] and his house; [1] Abram’s wife. [1] |

18 וַיִּקְרָ֤א פַרְעֹה֙ [3] Pashta לְאַבְרָ֔ם [2] Zaqef מַה־זֹּ֖את [2] Tip'cha עָשִׂ֣יתָ לִּ֑י [1] Etnachta לֹא־הִגַּ֣דְתָּ לִּ֔י [2] Zaqef הִֽוא׃ [1] Silluq |
18 And Pharaoh called [3] Abram, [2] “What is this [2] you have done to me? [1] didn’t you tell me [2] she was? [1] |

19 לָמָ֤ה אָמַ֙רְתָּ֙ [3 3] Pashta אֲחֹ֣תִי הִ֔וא [2] Zaqef לִ֖י [2] Tip'cha לְאִשָּׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta הִנֵּ֥ה אִשְׁתְּךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha קַ֥ח וָלֵֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
19 Why did you say, [3 3] ‘She is my sister,’ [2] for myself [2] as a wife? [1] here is your wife, [2] take her and go.” [1] |

20 וַיְצַ֥ו עָלָ֛יו [3] Tevir פַּרְעֹ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֲנָשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta וְאֶת־אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
20 And he commanded concerning him, [3] Pharaoh, [2] men; [1] and his wife, [2] and all that he had. [1] |
