1 וְשָׂרַי֙ [3] Pashta
אֵ֣שֶׁת אַבְרָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
לֹ֥א יָלְדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
ל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְלָ֛הּ [3] Tevir
שִׁפְחָ֥ה מִצְרִ֖ית [2] Tip'cha
וּשְׁמָ֥הּ הָגָֽר׃ [1] Silluq

Abram’s wife, [2]
 
she had borne no children [2]
to him; [1]
 
and she had [3]
a servant, an Egyptian, [2]
and her name was Hagar. [1]
2 וַתֹּ֨אמֶר שָׂרַ֜י [4] Geresh
אֶל־אַבְרָ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
הִנֵּה־נָ֞א [4] Gershayim
עֲצָרַ֤נִי יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
מִלֶּ֔דֶת [2] Zaqef
 
בֹּא־נָא֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־שִׁפְחָתִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
אוּלַ֥י אִבָּנֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִמֶּ֑נָּה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע אַבְרָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לְק֥וֹל שָׂרָֽי׃ [1] Silluq

to Abram, [3]
 
“See now [4]
the LORD has restrained me [3]
from bearing children. [2]
 
Please go to [3]
my servant. [2]
 
It may be that I will obtain children [2]
by her.” [1]
 
And Abram listened [2]
to the voice of Sarai. [1]
3 וַתִּקַּ֞ח [4] Gershayim
שָׂרַ֣י אֵֽשֶׁת־אַבְרָ֗ם [3] Revi'i
 
אֶת־הָגָ֤ר הַמִּצְרִית֙ [3] Pashta
שִׁפְחָתָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef
 
מִקֵּץ֙ [3] Pashta
עֶ֣שֶׂר שָׁנִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
לְשֶׁ֥בֶת אַבְרָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן [1] Etnachta
 
וַתִּתֵּ֥ן אֹתָ֛הּ [3] Tevir
לְאַבְרָ֥ם אִישָׁ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
ל֥וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ [1] Silluq

Sarai the wife of Abram, [3]
 
Hagar the Egyptian [3]
her servant, [2]
 
at the end of [3]
ten years [2]
 
of Abram's living [2]
in the land of Canaan; [1]
 
and she gave her [3]
to Abram her husband, [2]
to be his wife. [1]
4 וַיָּבֹ֥א אֶל־הָגָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
וַתַּ֑הַר [1] Etnachta
 
וַתֵּ֙רֶא֙ [3 3] Pashta
כִּ֣י הָרָ֔תָה [2] Zaqef
 
וַתֵּקַ֥ל גְּבִרְתָּ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֵינֶֽיהָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 2 4 And he went to Hagar, [2]
and she conceived; [1]
 
and when she saw [3 3]
that she had conceived, [2]
 
her mistress was despised [2]
in her eyes. [1]
5 וַתֹּ֨אמֶר שָׂרַ֣י אֶל־אַבְרָם֮ [3] Zarqa
חֲמָסִ֣י עָלֶ֒יךָ֒ [2 2] Segol
 
אָנֹכִ֗י [3] Revi'i
נָתַ֤תִּי שִׁפְחָתִי֙ [3] Pashta
בְּחֵיקֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וַתֵּ֙רֶא֙ [3 3] Pashta
כִּ֣י הָרָ֔תָה [2] Zaqef
 
וָאֵקַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֵינֶ֑יהָ [1] Etnachta
 
יִשְׁפֹּ֥ט יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בֵּינִ֥י וּבֵינֶֽיׄךָ׃ [1] Silluq

“This wrong is your fault. [2 2]
 
I, [3]
I gave my servant [3]
into your bosom, [2]
 
and when she saw [3 3]
that she had conceived, [2]
 
I became despised [2]
in her eyes. [1]
 
May The LORD judge [2]
between me and you.” [1]
6 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אַבְרָ֜ם [4] Geresh
אֶל־שָׂרַ֗י [3] Revi'i
 
הִנֵּ֤ה שִׁפְחָתֵךְ֙ [3] Pashta
בְּיָדֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
 
עֲשִׂי־לָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
הַטּ֣וֹב בְּעֵינָ֑יִךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וַתְּעַנֶּ֣הָ שָׂרַ֔י [2] Zaqef
וַתִּבְרַ֖ח [2] Tip'cha
מִפָּנֶֽיהָ׃ [1] Silluq

to Sarai, [3]
 
“Behold, your maid [3]
is in your hand. [2]
 
Do to her [2]
whatever is good in your eyes.” [1]
 
And Sarai dealt harshly with her, [2]
and she fled [2]
from before her. [1]
7 וַֽיִּמְצָאָ֞הּ [4] Gershayim
מַלְאַ֧ךְ יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
עַל־עֵ֥ין הַמַּ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
עַל־הָעַ֖יִן [2] Tip'cha
בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ שֽׁוּר׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 2 7 And he found her, [4]
the angel of the LORD, [3]
at a spring of water [2]
in the wilderness; [1]
 
at the spring [2]
on the way to Shur. [1]
8 וַיֹּאמַ֗ר [3] Revi'i
 
הָגָ֞ר [4] Gershayim
שִׁפְחַ֥ת שָׂרַ֛י [3] Tevir
אֵֽי־מִזֶּ֥ה בָ֖את [2] Tip'cha
 
וְאָ֣נָה תֵלֵ֑כִי [1] Etnachta
 
וַתֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
 
מִפְּנֵי֙ [3] Pashta
שָׂרַ֣י גְּבִרְתִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
אָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
בֹּרַֽחַת׃ [1] Silluq

“Oh Hagar [4]
servant of Sarai, [3]
from where have you come? [2]
 
And where are you going?” [1]
 
And she said, [2]
 
“From before [3]
my mistress Sarai [2]
 
I [2]
am fleeing.” [1]
9 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהּ֙ [3] Pashta
מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
שׁ֖וּבִי [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־גְּבִרְתֵּ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהִתְעַנִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
תַּ֥חַת יָדֶֽיהָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 9 And he said to her, [3]
the angel of the LORD, [2]
 
“Return [2]
to your mistress; [1]
 
and submit yourself [2]
under her hands.” [1]
10 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהּ֙ [3] Pashta
מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
הַרְבָּ֥ה אַרְבֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־זַרְעֵ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹ֥א יִסָּפֵ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
מֵרֹֽב׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 10 And he said to her, [3]
the angel of the LORD, [2]
 
“Greatly I will multiply [2]
your offspring; [1]
 
and they will not be countable [2]
for multitude.” [1]
11 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהּ֙ [3] Pashta
מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
הִנָּ֥ךְ הָרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וְיֹלַ֣דְתְּ בֵּ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
וְקָרָ֤את שְׁמוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
יִשְׁמָעֵ֔אל [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֥ע יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־עׇנְיֵֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq

the angel of the LORD, [2]
 
“Behold you are with child, [2]
and you will bear a son; [1]
 
and you shall call his name [3]
Ishmael, [2]
 
because the LORD has listened [2]
to your affliction. [1]
12 וְה֤וּא יִהְיֶה֙ [3] Pashta
פֶּ֣רֶא אָדָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
יָד֣וֹ בַכֹּ֔ל [2] Zaqef
וְיַ֥ד כֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
בּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וְעַל־פְּנֵ֥י כׇל־אֶחָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
יִשְׁכֹּֽן׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 2 12 And he will be [3]
a wild donkey of a man. [2]
 
His hand will be against every man, [2]
and every man’s hand [2]
against him; [1]
 
and opposed to all of his brothers [2]
he will live.” [1]
13 וַתִּקְרָ֤א שֵׁם־יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
הַדֹּבֵ֣ר אֵלֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
 
אַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֵ֣ל רֳאִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֣י אָֽמְרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
הֲגַ֥ם הֲלֹ֛ם [3] Tevir
רָאִ֖יתִי [2] Tip'cha
אַחֲרֵ֥י רֹאִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

who spoke to her, [2]
 
“You are [2]
the God who sees,” [1]
 
for she said, [3]
“Really here [3]
have I seen, [2]
a glimpse of the one who sees me?” [1]
14 עַל־כֵּן֙ [3] Pashta
קָרָ֣א לַבְּאֵ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
בְּאֵ֥ר לַחַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
רֹאִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
הִנֵּ֥ה בֵין־קָדֵ֖שׁ [2] Tip'cha
וּבֵ֥ין בָּֽרֶד׃ [1] Silluq

the well was called [2]
 
Beer Lahai [2]
Roi; [1]
 
behold, it is between Kadesh [2]
and Bered. [1]
15 וַתֵּ֧לֶד הָגָ֛ר [3] Tevir
לְאַבְרָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
בֵּ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּקְרָ֨א אַבְרָ֧ם שֶׁם־בְּנ֛וֹ [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־יָלְדָ֥ה הָגָ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
יִשְׁמָעֵֽאל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 15 And Hagar bore [3]
to Abram [2]
a son; [1]
 
and Abram called the name of his son [3]
whom Hagar bore, [2]
Ishmael. [1]
16 וְאַבְרָ֕ם [2] ZaqefG
בֶּן־שְׁמֹנִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וְשֵׁ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
בְּלֶֽדֶת־הָגָ֥ר אֶת־יִשְׁמָעֵ֖אל [2] Tip'cha
לְאַבְרָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

was a son of eighty years [2]
and six years; [1]
 
when Hagar bore Ishmael [2]
to Abram. [1]
