1 וַ֠יָּבֹ֠אוּ [4 4] TelishaG
שְׁנֵ֨י הַמַּלְאָכִ֤ים סְדֹ֙מָה֙ [3 3] Pashta
בָּעֶ֔רֶב [2] Zaqef
 
וְל֖וֹט [2] Tip'cha
יֹשֵׁ֣ב בְּשַֽׁעַר־סְדֹ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּרְא־לוֹט֙ [3] Pashta
וַיָּ֣קׇם לִקְרָאתָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ אַפַּ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
אָֽרְצָה׃ [1] Silluq

the two angels to Sodom, [3 3]
in the evening, [2]
 
and Lot [2]
was sitting in the gate of Sodom; [1]
 
and Lot saw them [3]
and he rose up to meet them, [2]
 
and he bowed down his face [2]
to the ground, [1]
2 וַיֹּ֜אמֶר [4] Geresh
הִנֶּ֣ה נָּא־אֲדֹנַ֗י [3] Revi'i
 
ס֣וּרוּ נָ֠א [4] TelishaG
אֶל־בֵּ֨ית עַבְדְּכֶ֤ם וְלִ֙ינוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
וְרַחֲצ֣וּ רַגְלֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְהִשְׁכַּמְתֶּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
וַהֲלַכְתֶּ֣ם לְדַרְכְּכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לֹּ֔א [2] Zaqef
כִּ֥י בָרְח֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha
נָלִֽין׃ [1] Silluq

“See now, my lords, [3]
 
please come [4]
into the house of your servant and stay the night, [3 3]
and wash your feet, [2]
 
and you can rise up early [2]
and go on your way.” [1]
 
And they said, “No, [2]
but out in the open place [2]
we will stay the night.” [1]
3 וַיִּפְצַר־בָּ֣ם מְאֹ֔ד [2] Zaqef
וַיָּסֻ֣רוּ אֵלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־בֵּית֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיַּ֤עַשׂ לָהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וּמַצּ֥וֹת אָפָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וַיֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ [1] Silluq

and they came in with him, [2]
and they entered [2]
into his house; [1]
 
and he prepared for them [3]
a feast, [2]
 
and unleavened bread he baked [2]
and they ate. [1]

יִשְׁכָּ֒בוּ֒ [2 2] Segol
 
וְאַנְשֵׁ֨י הָעִ֜יר [4] Geresh
אַנְשֵׁ֤י סְדֹם֙ [3] Pashta
נָסַ֣בּוּ עַל־הַבַּ֔יִת [2] Zaqef
 
מִנַּ֖עַר [2] Tip'cha
וְעַד־זָקֵ֑ן [1] Etnachta
 
כׇּל־הָעָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
מִקָּצֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq

the men of the city [4]
the men of Sodom, [3]
they surrounded the house, [2]
 
both young men [2]
and old; [1]
 
all the people [2]
from every quarter. [1]
5 וַיִּקְרְא֤וּ אֶל־לוֹט֙ [3] Pashta
וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
אַיֵּ֧ה הָאֲנָשִׁ֛ים [3] Tevir
אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֥אוּ אֵלֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
הַלָּ֑יְלָה [1] Etnachta
 
הוֹצִיאֵ֣ם אֵלֵ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef
וְנֵדְעָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֹתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

and they said to him, [2]
 
“Where are the men [3]
who came to you [2]
this night? [1]
 
Bring them out to us, [2]
so that we may know [2]
them.” [1]
6 וַיֵּצֵ֧א אֲלֵהֶ֛ם [3] Tevir
ל֖וֹט [2] Tip'cha
הַפֶּ֑תְחָה [1] Etnachta
 
וְהַדֶּ֖לֶת [2] Tip'cha
סָגַ֥ר אַחֲרָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 6 And he went out to them, [3]
Lot, [2]
through the door; [1]
 
and the door [2]
he closed behind him. [1]
7 וַיֹּאמַ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
אַל־נָ֥א אַחַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
תָּרֵֽעוּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 7 And he said, [1]
 
“Please my brothers, do not [2]
do evil. [1]
8 הִנֵּה־נָ֨א לִ֜י [4] Geresh
שְׁתֵּ֣י בָנ֗וֹת [3] Revi'i
 
אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־יָדְעוּ֙ [3] Pashta
אִ֔ישׁ [2] Zaqef
 
אוֹצִֽיאָה־נָּ֤א אֶתְהֶן֙ [3] Pashta
אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וַעֲשׂ֣וּ לָהֶ֔ן [2] Zaqef
כַּטּ֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֵינֵיכֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
רַ֠ק [4] TelishaG
לָֽאֲנָשִׁ֤ים הָאֵל֙ [3] Pashta
אַל־תַּעֲשׂ֣וּ דָבָ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־עַל־כֵּ֥ן בָּ֖אוּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּצֵ֥ל קֹרָתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֣ט שָׁפ֔וֹט [2] Zaqef
 
עַתָּ֕ה [2] ZaqefG
נָרַ֥ע לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
מֵהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּפְצְר֨וּ בָאִ֤ישׁ בְּלוֹט֙ [3] Pashta
מְאֹ֔ד [2] Zaqef
 
וַֽיִּגְּשׁ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
לִשְׁבֹּ֥ר הַדָּֽלֶת׃ [1] Silluq

“Stand back!” [3]
 
Then they said, [3]
“This one came in to live as a foreigner, [3]
and he has appointed himself a judge. [2]
 
Now [2]
we will deal worse with you [2]
than with them!” [1]
 
And they pressed on the man Lot [3]
very hard, [2]
 
and they came near [2]
to break down the door. [1]
10 וַיִּשְׁלְח֤וּ הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־יָדָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּבִ֧יאוּ אֶת־ל֛וֹט [3] Tevir
אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
הַבָּ֑יְתָה [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֶת־הַדֶּ֖לֶת [2] Tip'cha
סָגָֽרוּ׃ [1] Silluq

their hand, [2]
 
and they brought Lot [3]
to them, [2]
into the house; [1]
 
and the door [2]
they shut. [1]
11 וְֽאֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁ֞ים [4] Gershayim
אֲשֶׁר־פֶּ֣תַח הַבַּ֗יִת [3] Revi'i
 
הִכּוּ֙ [3] Pashta
בַּסַּנְוֵרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
מִקָּטֹ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
וְעַד־גָּד֑וֹל [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּלְא֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
לִמְצֹ֥א הַפָּֽתַח׃ [1] Silluq

who were at the door of the house, [3]
 
they struck [3]
with blindness, [2]
 
both small [2]
and great; [1]
 
so they wore themselves out [2]
trying to find the door. [1]
12 וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֜ים [4] Geresh
אֶל־ל֗וֹט [3] Revi'i
 
עֹ֚ד [3] Yetiv
מִֽי־לְךָ֣ פֹ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
חָתָן֙ [3] Pashta
וּבָנֶ֣יךָ וּבְנֹתֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
בָּעִ֑יר [1] Etnachta
 
הוֹצֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha
מִן־הַמָּקֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq

to Lot, [3]
 
“Who else [3]
do you have here? [2]
 
A son-in-law [3]
and your sons and your daughters, [2]
 
and all who belong to you [2]
in the city; [1]
 
bring out [2]
of the place, [1]
13 כִּֽי־מַשְׁחִתִ֣ים אֲנַ֔חְנוּ [2] Zaqef
אֶת־הַמָּק֖וֹם [2] Tip'cha
הַזֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
כִּֽי־גָדְלָ֤ה צַעֲקָתָם֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־פְּנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיְשַׁלְּחֵ֥נוּ יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לְשַׁחֲתָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

the place [2]
this; [1]
 
for great is the outcry against them [3]
before the LORD, [2]
 
and the LORD has sent us [2]
to destroy it.” [1]
14 וַיֵּצֵ֨א ל֜וֹט [4] Geresh
וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר ׀ [4] Legarmeh
אֶל־חֲתָנָ֣יו ׀ [4] Legarmeh
לֹקְחֵ֣י בְנֹתָ֗יו [3] Revi'i
 
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta
ק֤וּמוּ צְּאוּ֙ [3] Pashta
מִן־הַמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
כִּֽי־מַשְׁחִ֥ית יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־הָעִ֑יר [1] Etnachta
 
וַיְהִ֥י כִמְצַחֵ֖ק [2] Tip'cha
בְּעֵינֵ֥י חֲתָנָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

and he spoke [4]
to his sons-in-law [4]
who were pledged to marry his daughters, [3]
 
and he said, [3 3]
“Get up! Get out [3]
of this place, [2]
 
for the LORD is about to destroy [2]
the city!” [1]
 
But he seemed to be joking [2]
in the eyes of his sons-in-law. [1]
15 וּכְמוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
הַשַּׁ֣חַר עָלָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּאִ֥יצוּ הַמַּלְאָכִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
בְּל֣וֹט לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
קוּם֩ קַ֨ח אֶֽת־אִשְׁתְּךָ֜ [4] Geresh
וְאֶת־שְׁתֵּ֤י בְנֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
הַנִּמְצָאֹ֔ת [2] Zaqef
 
פֶּן־תִּסָּפֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בַּעֲוֺ֥ן הָעִֽיר׃ [1] Silluq

the morning came, [2]
 
then the angels hurried [2]
Lot saying; [1]
 
“Get up! Take your wife [4]
and your two daughters [3 3]
who are here, [2]
 
lest you be swept away [2]
in the punishment of the city.” [1]
16 וַֽיִּתְמַהְמָ֓הּ ׀ [2] Shalshelet
 
וַיַּחֲזִ֨יקוּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֜ים [4] Geresh
בְּיָד֣וֹ וּבְיַד־אִשְׁתּ֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
 
וּבְיַד֙ [3] Pashta
שְׁתֵּ֣י בְנֹתָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
בְּחֶמְלַ֥ת יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עָלָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֹּצִאֻ֥הוּ וַיַּנִּחֻ֖הוּ [2] Tip'cha
מִח֥וּץ לָעִֽיר׃ [1] Silluq

so the men grabbed [4]
onto his hand and onto his wife’s hand, [3]
 
and onto the hands [3]
of his two daughters, [2]
 
the LORD being merciful [2]
to him; [1]
 
and they took him out and they placed him [2]
outside of the city. [1]
17 וַיְהִי֩ כְהוֹצִיאָ֨ם אֹתָ֜ם [4] Geresh
הַח֗וּצָה [3] Revi'i
 
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta
הִמָּלֵ֣ט עַל־נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef
 
אַל־תַּבִּ֣יט אַחֲרֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
וְאַֽל־תַּעֲמֹ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
בְּכׇל־הַכִּכָּ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
הָהָ֥רָה הִמָּלֵ֖ט [2] Tip'cha
פֶּן־תִּסָּפֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq

to the outside, [3]
 
he said, [3 3]
“Escape for your life! [2]
 
Don’t look behind you, [2]
and don’t stop [2]
anywhere in the plain. [1]
 
Escape to the hill country [2]
lest you be swept away!” [1]
18 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖וֹט [2] Tip'cha
אֲלֵהֶ֑ם [1] Etnachta

אֲדֹנָֽי׃ [1] Silluq

to them; [1]
 
“No please [2]
O Lord. [1]
19 הִנֵּה־נָ֠א [4] TelishaG
מָצָ֨א עַבְדְּךָ֣ חֵן֮ [3] Zarqa
בְּעֵינֶ֒יךָ֒ [2 2] Segol
 
וַתַּגְדֵּ֣ל חַסְדְּךָ֗ [3] Revi'i
אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשִׂ֙יתָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
עִמָּדִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
לְהַחֲי֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־נַפְשִׁ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וְאָנֹכִ֗י [3] Revi'i
לֹ֤א אוּכַל֙ [3] Pashta
לְהִמָּלֵ֣ט הָהָ֔רָה [2] Zaqef
 
פֶּן־תִּדְבָּקַ֥נִי הָרָעָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וָמַֽתִּי׃ [1] Silluq

and you have made great your lovingkindness, [3]

escape to the hill country, [2]
 
lest the calamity overtake me [2]
and I die. [1]

לָנ֥וּס שָׁ֖מָּה [2] Tip'cha
וְהִ֣וא מִצְעָ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
אִמָּלְטָ֨ה נָּ֜א [4] Geresh
שָׁ֗מָּה [3] Revi'i
 
הֲלֹ֥א מִצְעָ֛ר [3] Tevir
הִ֖וא [2] Tip'cha
 
וּתְחִ֥י נַפְשִֽׁי׃ [1] Silluq

this city is near, [3]
to flee to there, [2]
and it is a small place. [1]
 
Please let me escape [4]
to there, [3]
 
a small place, isn't [3]

so that my soul may live.” [1]

נָשָׂ֣אתִי פָנֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
גַּ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
לְבִלְתִּ֛י [3] Tevir
הׇפְכִּ֥י אֶת־הָעִ֖יר [2] Tip'cha
אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq

“Behold [3]
I grant your request [2]
 
also [2]
in this matter; [1]
 
that not [3]
will I overthrow the city, [2]
of which you have spoken. [1]
22 מַהֵר֙ [3] Pashta
הִמָּלֵ֣ט שָׁ֔מָּה [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֣י לֹ֤א אוּכַל֙ [3] Pashta
לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת דָּבָ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
עַד־בֹּאֲךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
שָׁ֑מָּה [1] Etnachta
 
עַל־כֵּ֛ן [3] Tevir
קָרָ֥א שֵׁם־הָעִ֖יר [2] Tip'cha
צֽוֹעַר׃ [1] Silluq

escape to there, [2]
 
for I can’t [3]
do anything [2]
 
until you get [2]
there.” [1]
 
Therefore [3]
the name of the city was called, [2]
Zoar. [1]

יָצָ֣א עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta
 
וְל֖וֹט [2] Tip'cha
בָּ֥א צֹֽעֲרָה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 23 The sun [2]
had risen on the earth; [1]
 
when Lot [2]
came to Zoar. [1]
24 וַֽיהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
הִמְטִ֧יר עַל־סְדֹ֛ם [3] Tevir
וְעַל־עֲמֹרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
גׇּפְרִ֣ית וָאֵ֑שׁ [1] Etnachta
 
מֵאֵ֥ת יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִן־הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 3 2 24 Then the LORD, [3]
he rained on Sodom [3]
and on Gomorrah, [2]
sulfur and fire; [1]
 
from the LORD [2]
out of the sky. [1]
25 וַֽיַּהֲפֹךְ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הֶעָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֵ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־הַכִּכָּ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֵת֙ [3] Pashta
כׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הֶעָרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְצֶ֖מַח [2] Tip'cha
הָאֲדָמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

these cities, [2]
 
and [2]
all the plain; [1]
 
and [3]
all the inhabitants of the cities, [2]
 
and that which grew [2]
on the ground. [1]
26 וַתַּבֵּ֥ט אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מֵאַחֲרָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַתְּהִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
נְצִ֥יב מֶֽלַח׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 26 But his (Lot’s) wife looked back [2]
from behind him; [1]
 
and she became [2]
a pillar of salt. [1]
27 וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֥ם אַבְרָהָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
בַּבֹּ֑קֶר [1] Etnachta
 
אֶ֨ל־הַמָּק֔וֹם [2] Zaqef
אֲשֶׁר־עָ֥מַד שָׁ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־פְּנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 27 And Abraham went up early [2]
in the morning; [1]
 
to the place [2]
where he had stood there [2]
before the LORD. [1]

וַעֲמֹרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַֽל־כׇּל־פְּנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha

וַיַּ֗רְא [3] Revi'i
וְהִנֵּ֤ה עָלָה֙ [3] Pashta
קִיטֹ֣ר הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
כְּקִיטֹ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
הַכִּבְשָֽׁן׃ [1] Silluq

toward Sodom [3]
and Gomorrah, [2]
 
and toward all [2]
the land of the plain; [1]
 
and he saw, [3]
and behold it went up, [3]
the smoke of the land, [2]
 
like the smoke [2]
of a furnace. [1]
29 וַיְהִ֗י [3] Revi'i
בְּשַׁחֵ֤ת אֱלֹהִים֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־עָרֵ֣י הַכִּכָּ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּזְכֹּ֥ר אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־אַבְרָהָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וַיְשַׁלַּ֤ח אֶת־לוֹט֙ [3] Pashta
מִתּ֣וֹךְ הַהֲפֵכָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
בַּהֲפֹךְ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־הֶ֣עָרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁר־יָשַׁ֥ב בָּהֵ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
לֽוֹט׃ [1] Silluq

כׇּל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq

“Our father is old; [1]

to come in to us [2]

32 לְכָ֨ה נַשְׁקֶ֧ה אֶת־אָבִ֛ינוּ [3] Tevir
יַ֖יִן [2] Tip'cha
וְנִשְׁכְּבָ֣ה עִמּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וּנְחַיֶּ֥ה מֵאָבִ֖ינוּ [2] Tip'cha
זָֽרַע׃ [1] Silluq

wine, [2]
and we will lie with him; [1]
 
that we may preserve from our father [2]
offspring.” [1]
33 וַתַּשְׁקֶ֧יןָ אֶת־אֲבִיהֶ֛ן [3] Tevir
יַ֖יִן [2] Tip'cha
בַּלַּ֣יְלָה ה֑וּא [1] Etnachta
 
וַתָּבֹ֤א הַבְּכִירָה֙ [3] Pashta
וַתִּשְׁכַּ֣ב אֶת־אָבִ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְלֹֽא־יָדַ֥ע בְּשִׁכְבָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
וּבְקוּׄמָֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq

וַתֹּ֤אמֶר הַבְּכִירָה֙ [3] Pashta
אֶל־הַצְּעִירָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
הֵן־שָׁכַ֥בְתִּי אֶ֖מֶשׁ [2] Tip'cha
אֶת־אָבִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
נַשְׁקֶ֨נּוּ יַ֜יִן [4] Geresh
גַּם־הַלַּ֗יְלָה [3] Revi'i

that we may preserve from our father [2]
offspring.” [1]

מֵאֲבִיהֶֽן׃ [1] Silluq

the two daughters of Lot, [2]
by their father. [1]
37 וַתֵּ֤לֶד הַבְּכִירָה֙ [3] Pashta
בֵּ֔ן [2] Zaqef
 
וַתִּקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מוֹאָ֑ב [1] Etnachta
 
ה֥וּא אֲבִֽי־מוֹאָ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
עַד־הַיּֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq

and she called his name [2]
Moab. [1]
 
He is the father of the Moabites [2]

וַתִּקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
