1 וַיִּקְרָ֥א יִצְחָ֛ק [3] Tevir
אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ אֹת֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיְצַוֵּ֙הוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
לֹֽא־תִקַּ֥ח אִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִבְּנ֥וֹת כְּנָֽעַן׃ [1] Silluq

Jacob, [2]
and he blessed him; [1]
 
and he commanded him [3 3]
and he said to him, [2]
 
“You must not take a wife [2]
from the daughters of Canaan. [1]
2 ק֥וּם לֵךְ֙ [3] Pashta
פַּדֶּ֣נָֽה אֲרָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
בֵּ֥יתָה בְתוּאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
אֲבִ֣י אִמֶּ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וְקַח־לְךָ֤ מִשָּׁם֙ [3] Pashta
אִשָּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
מִבְּנ֥וֹת לָבָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
אֲחִ֥י אִמֶּֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

to Paddan Aram, [2]
 
to the house of Bethuel [2]
the father of your mother; [1]
 
and take for yourself from there [3]
a wife [2]
 
of the daughters of Laban [2]
the brother of your mother. [1]
3 וְאֵ֤ל שַׁדַּי֙ [3] Pashta
יְבָרֵ֣ךְ אֹֽתְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef
 
וְיַפְרְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
וְיַרְבֶּ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָיִ֖יתָ [2] Tip'cha
לִקְהַ֥ל עַמִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq

may he bless you, [2]
 
and may he make you fruitful [2]
and may he multiply you; [1]
 
that you may become [2]
a company of peoples, [1]
4 וְיִֽתֶּן־לְךָ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־בִּרְכַּ֣ת אַבְרָהָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
לְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
וּלְזַרְעֲךָ֣ אִתָּ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta
 
לְרִשְׁתְּךָ֙ [3] Pashta
אֶת־אֶ֣רֶץ מְגֻרֶ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
לְאַבְרָהָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

the blessing of Abraham, [2]
 
to you [2]
and to your offspring with you; [1]
 
that you may inherit [3]
the land where you travel, [2]
 
which God gave [2]
to Abraham.” [1]
5 וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח יִצְחָק֙ [3] Pashta
אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha
פַּדֶּ֣נָֽה אֲרָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
אֶל־לָבָ֤ן בֶּן־בְּתוּאֵל֙ [3] Pashta
הָֽאֲרַמִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
אֲחִ֣י רִבְקָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
אֵ֥ם יַעֲקֹ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
וְעֵשָֽׂו׃ [1] Silluq

and he went [2]
to Paddan Aram; [1]
 
to Laban son of Bethuel [3]
the Syrian, [2]
 
the brother of Rebekah [2]
the mother of Jacob [2]
and Esau. [1]
6 וַיַּ֣רְא עֵשָׂ֗ו [3] Revi'i
כִּֽי־בֵרַ֣ךְ יִצְחָק֮ [3] Zarqa
אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹב֒ [2] Segol
 
וְשִׁלַּ֤ח אֹתוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
פַּדֶּ֣נָֽה אֲרָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
לָקַֽחַת־ל֥וֹ מִשָּׁ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אִשָּׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
בְּבָרְכ֣וֹ אֹת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיְצַ֤ו עָלָיו֙ [3] Pashta
לֵאמֹ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
לֹֽא־תִקַּ֥ח אִשָּׁ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִבְּנ֥וֹת כְּנָֽעַן׃ [1] Silluq

that Isaac had blessed [3]
Jacob, [2]
 
and he had sent him off [3]
to Paddan Aram [2]
 
to take for himself from there [2]
a wife; [1]
 
and when he blessed him, [2]
 
he gave him a command [3]
saying, [2]
 
“You must not take a wife [2]
from the daughters of Canaan,” [1]
7 וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef
אֶל־אָבִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
וְאֶל־אִמּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha
פַּדֶּ֥נָֽה אֲרָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 7 and Jacob had listened [2]
to his father [2]
and to his mother; [1]
 
and he had gone [2]
to Paddan Aram. [1]
8 וַיַּ֣רְא עֵשָׂ֔ו [2] Zaqef
כִּ֥י רָע֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
בְּנ֣וֹת כְּנָ֑עַן [1] Etnachta
 
בְּעֵינֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 8 And Esau saw [2]
that displeasing were [2]
the daughters of Canaan; [1]
 
in the eyes [2]
of Isaac his father. [1]
9 וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ עֵשָׂ֖ו [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־יִשְׁמָעֵ֑אל [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּקַּ֡ח [4] Pazer
אֶֽת־מָחֲלַ֣ת ׀ [4] Legarmeh
בַּת־יִשְׁמָעֵ֨אל בֶּן־אַבְרָהָ֜ם [4] Geresh
אֲח֧וֹת נְבָי֛וֹת [3] Tevir
 
עַל־נָשָׁ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
 
ל֥וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ [1] Silluq

to Ishmael; [1]
 
and he took [4]
Mahalath [4]
the daughter of Ishmael the son of Abraham, [4]
the sister of Nebaioth, [3]
 
in addition to the wives that he had, [2]
 
to be his wife. [1]

10 וַיֵּצֵ֥א יַעֲקֹ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
מִבְּאֵ֣ר שָׁ֑בַע [1] Etnachta
 
וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ [2] Tip'cha
חָרָֽנָה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 10 And Jacob went out [2]
from Beersheba; [1]
 
and he went [2]
toward Haran. [1]
11 וַיִּפְגַּ֨ע בַּמָּק֜וֹם [4] Geresh
וַיָּ֤לֶן שָׁם֙ [3] Pashta
כִּי־בָ֣א הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּקַּח֙ [3] Pashta
מֵאַבְנֵ֣י הַמָּק֔וֹם [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּ֖שֶׂם [2] Tip'cha
מְרַֽאֲשֹׁתָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּשְׁכַּ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
בַּמָּק֥וֹם הַהֽוּא׃ [1] Silluq

and he stayed all night there, [3]
because the sun had set, [2]
 
and he took [3]
one of the stones of the place, [2]
 
and he put it [2]
in the place of his head; [1]
 
and he lay down [2]
in that place. [1]
12 וַֽיַּחֲלֹ֗ם [3] Revi'i
וְהִנֵּ֤ה סֻלָּם֙ [3] Pashta
מֻצָּ֣ב אַ֔רְצָה [2] Zaqef
 
וְרֹאשׁ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מַגִּ֣יעַ הַשָּׁמָ֑יְמָה [1] Etnachta
 
וְהִנֵּה֙ [3] Pashta
מַלְאֲכֵ֣י אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
עֹלִ֥ים וְיֹרְדִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
בּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

and saw a stairway [3]
set upon the earth, [2]
 
and its top [2]
reaching to the heavens; [1]
 
and behold [3]
the angels of God [2]
 
were ascending and descending [2]
on it. [1]
13 וְהִנֵּ֨ה יְהֹוָ֜ה [4] Geresh
נִצָּ֣ב עָלָיו֮ [3] Zarqa
וַיֹּאמַר֒ [2] Segol
 
אֲנִ֣י יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
אֱלֹהֵי֙ [3] Pashta
אַבְרָהָ֣ם אָבִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וֵאלֹהֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
יִצְחָ֑ק [1] Etnachta
 
הָאָ֗רֶץ [3] Revi'i
אֲשֶׁ֤ר אַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
שֹׁכֵ֣ב עָלֶ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef
 
לְךָ֥ אֶתְּנֶ֖נָּה [2] Tip'cha
וּלְזַרְעֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

was standing on it, [3]
and he said, [2]
 
“I am the LORD, [3]
the God [3]
of Abraham your father, [2]
 
and the God [2]
of Isaac. [1]
 
The land [3]
which you [3]
are lying on, [2]
 
to you I will give it, [2]
and to your offspring. [1]
14 וְהָיָ֤ה זַרְעֲךָ֙ [3] Pashta
כַּעֲפַ֣ר הָאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef
 
וּפָרַצְתָּ֛ [3] Tevir
יָ֥מָּה וָקֵ֖דְמָה [2] Tip'cha
וְצָפֹ֣נָה וָנֶ֑גְבָּה [1] Etnachta
 
וְנִבְרְכ֥וּ בְךָ֛ [3] Tevir
כׇּל־מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת הָאֲדָמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וּבְזַרְעֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 2 3 14 And your offspring will be [3]
like the dust of the earth, [2]
 
and you will spread abroad [3]
to the west and to the east, [2]
and to the north and to the south; [1]
 
and they will be blessed by you, [3]
all the families of the earth, [2]
and by your offspring. [1]
15 וְהִנֵּ֨ה אָנֹכִ֜י [4] Geresh
עִמָּ֗ךְ [3] Revi'i
 
וּשְׁמַרְתִּ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
בְּכֹ֣ל אֲשֶׁר־תֵּלֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
 
וַהֲשִׁ֣בֹתִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef
אֶל־הָאֲדָמָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
הַזֹּ֑את [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
לֹ֣א אֶֽעֱזׇבְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef
 
עַ֚ד [3] Yetiv
אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִם־עָשִׂ֔יתִי [2] Zaqef
 
אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי [2] Tip'cha
לָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq

and I will keep you [3 3]
wherever you go, [2]
 
and I will bring you back [2]
to the land, [2]

16 וַיִּיקַ֣ץ יַעֲקֹב֮ [3] Zarqa
מִשְּׁנָתוֹ֒ [2] Segol
 
וַיֹּ֕אמֶר [2] ZaqefG
 
אָכֵן֙ [3] Pashta
יֵ֣שׁ יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
בַּמָּק֖וֹם [2] Tip'cha
הַזֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְאָנֹכִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א יָדָֽעְתִּי׃ [1] Silluq

from his sleep, [2]
 
and he said, [2]
 
“Surely [3]
the LORD is [2]
 
in the place [2]
this; [1]
 
and I, [2]
I didn’t know it.” [1]
17 וַיִּירָא֙ [3] Pashta
וַיֹּאמַ֔ר [2] Zaqef
 
מַה־נּוֹרָ֖א [2] Tip'cha
הַמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
אֵ֣ין זֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i
כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
אִם־בֵּ֣ית אֱלֹהִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְזֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
שַׁ֥עַר הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

and he said, [2]
 
“How awesome [2]
is this place! [1]
 
Is not this [3]
but [3]
the house of God, [2]
 
and this [2]
is the gate of heaven?” [1]
18 וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֨ם יַעֲקֹ֜ב [4] Geresh
בַּבֹּ֗קֶר [3] Revi'i
 
וַיִּקַּ֤ח אֶת־הָאֶ֙בֶן֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁר־שָׂ֣ם מְרַֽאֲשֹׁתָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
וַיָּ֥שֶׂם אֹתָ֖הּ [2] Tip'cha
מַצֵּבָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּצֹ֥ק שֶׁ֖מֶן [2] Tip'cha
עַל־רֹאשָֽׁהּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 4 3 2 2 18 And Jacob rose up early [4]
in the morning, [3]
 
and he took the stone [3 3]
that he had put in the place of his head, [2]
 
and he set it up [2]
as a pillar; [1]
 
and he poured oil [2]
on its top. [1]
19 וַיִּקְרָ֛א [3] Tevir
אֶת־שֵֽׁם־הַמָּק֥וֹם הַה֖וּא [2] Tip'cha
בֵּֽית־אֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וְאוּלָ֛ם [3] Tevir
ל֥וּז שֵׁם־הָעִ֖יר [2] Tip'cha
לָרִאשֹׁנָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 3 19 And he called [3]
the name of that place [2]
Bethel; [1]
 
but [3]
Luz had been the name of the city [2]
at the first. [1]
20 וַיִּדַּ֥ר יַעֲקֹ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
נֶ֣דֶר לֵאמֹ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
אִם־יִהְיֶ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים [4] Geresh
עִמָּדִ֗י [3] Revi'i
 
וּשְׁמָרַ֙נִי֙ [3 3] Pashta
בַּדֶּ֤רֶךְ הַזֶּה֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָנֹכִ֣י הוֹלֵ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
 
וְנָֽתַן־לִ֥י לֶ֛חֶם [3] Tevir
לֶאֱכֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
וּבֶ֥גֶד לִלְבֹּֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq

a vow saying; [1]
 
“If God will be [4]
with me, [3]
 
and he will protect me [3 3]
in this way [3]
which I am going, [2]
 
and he will give me bread [3]
to eat, [2]
and clothing to wear, [1]
21 וְשַׁבְתִּ֥י בְשָׁל֖וֹם [2] Tip'cha
אֶל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָיָ֧ה יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
לִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 3 21 and I will return in peace [2]
to the house of my father; [1]
 
then he will become, the LORD [3]
to me, [2]
God, [1]
22 וְהָאֶ֣בֶן הַזֹּ֗את [3] Revi'i
אֲשֶׁר־שַׂ֙מְתִּי֙ [3 3] Pashta
מַצֵּבָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
יִהְיֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בֵּ֣ית אֱלֹהִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְכֹל֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּתֶּן־לִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
עַשֵּׂ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
אֲעַשְּׂרֶ֥נּוּ לָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq

which I have set up [3 3]
as a pillar, [2]
 
it will be [2]
the house of God; [1]
 
and all [3]
that you give to me, [2]
 
surely [2]
I will give a tenth to you.” [1]
