1 וְהָ֣אָדָ֔ם [2] Zaqef יָדַ֖ע [2] Tip'cha אֶת־חַוָּ֣ה אִשְׁתּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta וַתֵּ֣לֶד אֶת־קַ֔יִן [2] Zaqef קָנִ֥יתִי אִ֖ישׁ [2] Tip'cha אֶת־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
1 And the man, [2] he knew [2] Havah his wife; [1] and she gave birth to Cain, [2] “I have gotten a man [2] with the LORD’s help.” [1] |

2 וַתֹּ֣סֶף לָלֶ֔דֶת [2] Zaqef אֶת־אָחִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha אֶת־הָ֑בֶל [1] Etnachta רֹ֣עֵה צֹ֔אן [2] Zaqef הָיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha עֹבֵ֥ד אֲדָמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And she again gave birth, [2] to his brother, [2] to Abel. [1] a keeper of sheep, [2] he was [2] a tiller of the ground. [1] |

3 וַֽיְהִ֖י [2] Tip'cha מִקֵּ֣ץ יָמִ֑ים [1] Etnachta מִפְּרִ֧י הָֽאֲדָמָ֛ה [3] Tevir מִנְחָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לַֽיהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
3 And [2] after some days; [1] some of the fruit of the ground [3] as an offering [2] to the LORD. [1] |

4 וְהֶ֨בֶל הֵבִ֥יא גַם־ה֛וּא [3] Tevir מִבְּכֹר֥וֹת צֹאנ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha וּמֵֽחֶלְבֵהֶ֑ן [1] Etnachta אֶל־הֶ֖בֶל [2] Tip'cha וְאֶל־מִנְחָתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
4 And Abel, he brought, he also [3] some of the firstborn of his flock [2] and their fat portions. [1] on Abel [2] and on his offering, [1] |

5 וְאֶל־קַ֥יִן וְאֶל־מִנְחָת֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha לֹ֣א שָׁעָ֑ה [1] Etnachta מְאֹ֔ד [2] Zaqef פָּנָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq |
5 but on Cain and his offering [2] he did not look with favor. [1] exceedingly, [2] his face. [1] |

6 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֶל־קָ֑יִן [1] Etnachta חָ֣רָה לָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef נָפְל֥וּ פָנֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
6 Then the LORD said [2] to Cain, [1] are you angry? [2] is your face downcast? [1] |

7 הֲל֤וֹא אִם־תֵּיטִיב֙ [3] Pashta שְׂאֵ֔ת [2] Zaqef לֹ֣א תֵיטִ֔יב [2] Zaqef חַטָּ֣את רֹבֵ֑ץ [1] Etnachta תְּשׁ֣וּקָת֔וֹ [2] Zaqef תִּמְשׇׁל־בּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
7 If you do well, [3] won’t it be lifted up? [2] you don’t do well, [2] sin is crouching. [1] is its desire, [2] to rule over it.” [1] |

8 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר קַ֖יִן [2] Tip'cha אֶל־הֶ֣בֶל אָחִ֑יו [1] Etnachta בִּהְיוֹתָ֣ם בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֶל־הֶ֥בֶל אָחִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha וַיַּהַרְגֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
8 Now Cain spoke [2] to Abel his brother; [1] while they were in the field, [2] against Abel his brother, [2] and he killed him. [1] |

9 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־קַ֔יִן [2] Zaqef הֶ֣בֶל אָחִ֑יךָ [1] Etnachta לֹ֣א יָדַ֔עְתִּי [2] Zaqef אָנֹֽכִי׃ [1] Silluq |
9 And the LORD said [3] to Cain, [2] is Abel your brother?” [1] “I don’t know. [2] am I?” [1] |

10 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר [2] Tip'cha מֶ֣ה עָשִׂ֑יתָ [1] Etnachta דְּמֵ֣י אָחִ֔יךָ [2] Zaqef מִן־הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
10 And he said, [2] “What have you done? [1] of your brother’s blood [2] from the ground. [1] |

11 וְעַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אָר֣וּר אָ֑תָּה [1] Etnachta אֲשֶׁ֣ר פָּצְתָ֣ה אֶת־פִּ֔יהָ [2] Zaqef אֶת־דְּמֵ֥י אָחִ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha מִיָּדֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 Now [2] you are cursed; [1] which has opened its mouth, [2] your brother’s blood [2] from your hand. [1] |

12 כִּ֤י תַֽעֲבֹד֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef לָ֑ךְ [1] Etnachta תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה בָאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
12 When you till [3] the ground, [2] to you. [1] you will be on the earth.” [1] |

13 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר קַ֖יִן [2] Tip'cha אֶל־יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta מִנְּשֹֽׂא׃ [1] Silluq |
13 And Cain said [2] to the LORD; [1] to bear. [1] |

14 הֵן֩ גֵּרַ֨שְׁתָּ אֹתִ֜י [4] Geresh הַיּ֗וֹם [3] Revi'i פְּנֵ֣י הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה [2] Zaqef אֶסָּתֵ֑ר [1] Etnachta נָ֤ע וָנָד֙ [3] Pashta בָּאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef יַֽהַרְגֵֽנִי׃ [1] Silluq |
14 Behold, you have driven me out [4] this day [3] the surface of the ground, [2] I will be hidden; [1] a fugitive and a wanderer [3] on the earth, [2] he will kill me.” [1] |

15 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר ל֣וֹ יְהֹוָ֗ה [3] Revi'i לָכֵן֙ [3] Pashta כׇּל־הֹרֵ֣ג קַ֔יִן [2] Zaqef יֻקָּ֑ם [1] Etnachta א֔וֹת [2] Zaqef כׇּל־מֹצְאֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
15 And the LORD said to him, [3] “Then [3] whoever slays Cain, [2] he will be avenged.” [1] a sign, [2] anyone who found him. [1] |

16 וַיֵּ֥צֵא קַ֖יִן [2] Tip'cha מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה [1] Etnachta קִדְמַת־עֵֽדֶן׃ [1] Silluq |
16 And Cain went out [2] from the LORD’s presence; [1] east of Eden. [1] |

17 וַיֵּ֤דַע קַ֙יִן֙ [3 3] Pashta אֶת־אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef וַתֵּ֣לֶד אֶת־חֲנ֑וֹךְ [1] Etnachta בֹּ֣נֶה עִ֔יר [2] Zaqef שֵׁ֣ם הָעִ֔יר [2] Zaqef בְּנ֥וֹ חֲנֽוֹךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
17 And Cain knew [3 3] his wife, [2] and she gave birth to Enoch. [1] building a city, [2] the name of the city [2] of his son Enoch. [1] |

18 וַיִּוָּלֵ֤ד לַֽחֲנוֹךְ֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־עִירָ֔ד [2] Zaqef יָלַ֖ד [2] Tip'cha אֶת־מְחֽוּיָאֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta יָלַד֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־מְת֣וּשָׁאֵ֔ל [2] Zaqef יָלַ֥ד אֶת־לָֽמֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
18 And to Enoch was born [3] Irad, [2] to him was born [2] Mehujael; [1] to him was born [3] Methushael, [2] to him was born Lamech. [1] |

19 וַיִּֽקַּֽח־ל֥וֹ לֶ֖מֶךְ [2] Tip'cha שְׁתֵּ֣י נָשִׁ֑ים [1] Etnachta עָדָ֔ה [2] Zaqef צִלָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
19 And Lamech took for himself [2] two wives; [1] was Adah, [2] was Zillah. [1] |

20 וַתֵּ֥לֶד עָדָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha אֶת־יָבָ֑ל [1] Etnachta אֲבִ֕י [2] ZaqefG יֹשֵׁ֥ב אֹ֖הֶל [2] Tip'cha וּמִקְנֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
20 And Adah gave birth to [2] Jabal. [1] the father [2] of those who dwell in tents [2] and raise livestock. [1] |

21 וְשֵׁ֥ם אָחִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha יוּבָ֑ל [1] Etnachta אֲבִ֕י [2] ZaqefG כׇּל־תֹּפֵ֥שׂ כִּנּ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha וְעוּגָֽב׃ [1] Silluq |
21 And his brother’s name [2] was Jubal. [1] the father [2] of all who play the harp [2] and pipe. [1] |

22 וְצִלָּ֣ה גַם־הִ֗וא [3] Revi'i יָֽלְדָה֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־תּ֣וּבַל קַ֔יִן [2] Zaqef כׇּל־חֹרֵ֥שׁ נְחֹ֖שֶׁת [2] Tip'cha וּבַרְזֶ֑ל [1] Etnachta נַֽעֲמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
22 And Zillah, she also, [3] to her was born [3] Tubal Cain, [2] of every cutting instrument of bronze [2] and iron; [1] Naamah. [1] |

23 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לֶ֜מֶךְ [4] Geresh לְנָשָׁ֗יו [3] Revi'i שְׁמַ֣עַן קוֹלִ֔י [2] Zaqef הַאְזֵ֖נָּה [2] Tip'cha אִמְרָתִ֑י [1] Etnachta לְפִצְעִ֔י [2] Zaqef לְחַבֻּרָתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq |
23 And Lamech said [4] to his wives, [3] hear my voice; [2] listen to [2] my speech; [1] for wounding me, [2] for bruising me. [1] |

24 כִּ֥י שִׁבְעָתַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha יֻקַּם־קָ֑יִן [1] Etnachta שִׁבְעִ֥ים וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
24 If seven times [2] Cain will be avenged; [1] seventy and seven.” [1] |

25 וַיֵּ֨דַע אָדָ֥ם עוֹד֙ [3] Pashta אֶת־אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef וַתִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha שֵׁ֑ת [1] Etnachta זֶ֣רַע אַחֵ֔ר [2] Zaqef כִּ֥י הֲרָג֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha קָֽיִן׃ [1] Silluq |
25 And Adam again knew [3] his wife, [2] and she named him [2] Seth; [1] another child, [2] for he was killed by [2] Cain.” [1] |

26 וּלְשֵׁ֤ת גַּם־הוּא֙ [3] Pashta יֻלַּד־בֵּ֔ן [2] Zaqef אֱנ֑וֹשׁ [1] Etnachta לִקְרֹ֖א [2] Tip'cha בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq ס |
26 And to Seth, to him also [3] a son was born, [2] Enosh. [1] to call [2] on the name of the LORD. [1] § |
