[1] Silluq |
1 The oracle [3] which he saw, [2] the prophet. [1] |
2 How long O LORD [3] have I cried for help, [2] and you do not hear? [1] “Violence!” [2] and you do not save? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
3 Why do you make me see wickedness, [3 3] and do you look at mischief? [2] are before me; [1] it arises. [1] |
4 Therefore [3] the law is paralyzed, [2] justice; [1] surround the righteous, [2] justice comes forth [2] perverted. [1] |
5 “Look among the nations [3] and watch, [2] be astonished; [1] is being done in your days, [2] if it were told. [1] |
6 For behold, I am about to raise up [3] the Chaldeans, [2] bitter and impetuous; [1] through the width of the earth, [2] dwelling places which don't belong to it. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
7 Feared and dreaded [2] it is; [1] its justice and its dignity, [2] it comes forth. [1] |
8 And they are swifter than leopards, [4] its horses, [3] than the evening wolves, [2] its warhorses; [1] from afar they come, [2] like an eagle, [2] making haste to devour. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
9 All of it, [3] it comes for violence, [2] the desert; [1] captives. [1] |
10 And it, [3] it scoffs at kings, [2] are a derision to it; [1] at every stronghold it laughs, [2] and it captures it. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
11 Then he sweeps by like a wind, [3] and he goes on, [2] and he is guilty; [1] is his god.” [1] |
12 Are you not from everlasting, [3] O LORD my God, [3] my Holy One? [2] We shall not die; [1] to judgment you have appointed him, [2] to reprove you have established him. [1] |
13 Your eyes are too pure [3 3] for seeing evil, [2] you are not able. [1] the treacherous, [2] when the wicked swallows up [2] one more righteous than he? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
14 And you have made man [2] like the fish of the sea; [1] which have no ruler over them. [1] |
15 All of it [3] with a fishhook he brings up, [2] and he gathers it [2] in his fishing net; [1] he rejoices and he is glad. [1] |
16 Therefore [3] he sacrifices to his net, [2] to his fishing net; [1] rich is his portion, [2] abundant. [1] |
17 Therefore [2] will he empty his net; [1] kill the nations [2] without mercy? [1] § |
