[1] Silluq |
1 Woe to those who decree [2] decrees of wickedness, [1] they write; [1] |
2 to deprive of justice [3] the needy, [2] of their rights [2] the poor among my people; [1] their prey, [2] they may plunder! [1] |
3 What will you do [3] in the day of punishment, [2] which will come from afar? [1] will you flee for help? [2] your wealth? [1] |
4 They will only kneel down [3] under prisoners, [2] they will fall. [1] his anger is not turned back, [2] his hand is stretched out. [1] § |
[1] Silluq |
5 Woe to Assyria, [2] the rod of my anger; [1] of my indignation! [1] |
6 Against a godless nation [3] I sent him, [2] I commanded him; [1] and to take the spoil, [2] like the mud of the streets. [1] |
7 But he [3] he doesn’t intend this, [2] it hasn't planned this; [1] it is in his heart to destroy, [2] not a few. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
8 For [2] he said, [1] all [2] kings? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
9 Isn’t [it] like Carchemish, [2] Calno? [1] Hamath? [2] Samaria?” [1] |
10 Just as [3] my hand has found [2] of the idol, [1] more than Jerusalem [2] and more than Samaria; [1] |
11 shall not, [3] just as I did [3] to Samaria, [2] and to its idols, [1] shall I do to Jerusalem [2] and to its images? [1] § |
12 And it will be [3] when the Lord has finished [3] all his work [2] and in Jerusalem, [1] the fruit of the willful pride [3 3] of the heart of the king of Assyria, [2] of his arrogant looks. [1] |
| 13 כִּ֣י אָמַ֗ר [3] Revi'i בְּכֹ֤חַ יָדִי֙ [3] Pashta עָשִׂ֔יתִי [2] Zaqef כִּ֣י נְבֻנ֑וֹתִי [1] Etnachta גְּבוּלֹ֣ת עַמִּ֗ים [3] Revi'i שׁוֹשֵׂ֔תִי [2] Zaqef יֽוֹשְׁבִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
13 For he has said, [3] “By the strength of my hand [3] I have acted, [2] for I have understanding. [1] the boundaries of peoples, [3] I have plundered, [2] their rulers. [1] |
14 And my hand has found like a nest [3] the wealth of the peoples; [2] eggs that are abandoned, [2] I, I have gathered. [1] who moved their wing, [2] or chirped.” [1] |
15 Does it glorify itself [3] the axe, [2] the one who cuts with it? [1] above the one who uses it? [2] those who lift it up, [2] someone who is not wood. [1] ¶ |
16 Therefore [4] the Lord will send, [4] the LORD of Hosts [3] on his fat ones, [2] a burning will be kindled, [2] like the burning of fire. [1] |
17 And the light of Israel will become [3] a fire, [2] a flame; [1] and it will consume [3] his bushes and his thorns, [2] in one day. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
18 And the glory of his forest [3] and his fruitful field, [2] he will consume. [1] as when one who is sick wastes away. [1] |
19 And the remnant of the trees [3] of his forest, [2] they will be few, [1] could write their number. [1] ¶ |
20 And it will be [4] in that day, [3] the remnant of Israel, [3] and the escaped remnant of the house of Jacob, [2] on the one who struck them; [1] on the LORD, [3] the Holy One of Israel, [2] in truth. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
21 A remnant will return, [2] the remnant of Jacob; [1] who is mighty. [1] |
22 For though it will be, [4] your people Israel, [3] like the sand of the sea, [2] of them will return. [1] overflowing with righteousness. [1] |
23 For complete destruction [2] it has been decided, [1] of Hosts, [2] in the midst of all the land. [1] § |
24 Therefore [3] the Lord, the LORD [3] of Hosts, [2] who dwell in Zion, [2] of Assyria; [1] and its staff it will lift up against you [2] as Egypt did. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
25 For yet [2] a very little while, [1] and my anger [2] will be directed to their destruction.” [1] |
26 And he will use against him [4] the LORD of Hosts, [3] a whip, [2] at the rock of Oreb. [1] will be over the sea, [2] as he did against Egypt. [1] |
27 And it will be [4] in that day, [3] from off your shoulder, [2] from off your neck; [1] because of fatness. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
28 He has come to Aiath; [2] he has passed through Migron. [1] he leaves his baggage. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
29 They have gone over [3] the pass; [2] will be a lodging place for us. [1] Ramah; [2] it has fled. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
30 Cry aloud with your voice, [2] O daughter of Gallim! [1] O afflicted one Anathoth! [1] |
[1] Silluq |
31 It has fled, [2] Madmenah. [1] they have taken refuge. [1] |
32 This very day [2] (he will) stand at Nob. [1] at the mountain of the daughter of Zion, [2] of Jerusalem. [1] § |
33 Behold, the Lord, [3] the LORD of Hosts, [2] with a crash. [1] will be cut down, [2] they will be brought low. [1] |
