1 ה֥וֹי הַחֹֽקְקִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
חִקְקֵי־אָ֑וֶן [1] Etnachta
 
וּֽמְכַתְּבִ֥ים עָמָ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
כִּתֵּֽבוּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 1 Woe to those who decree [2]
decrees of wickedness, [1]
 
and to the writers who oppressive decrees [2]
they write; [1]
2 לְהַטּ֤וֹת מִדִּין֙ [3] Pashta
דַּלִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְלִגְזֹ֕ל [2] ZaqefG
מִשְׁפַּ֖ט [2] Tip'cha
עֲנִיֵּ֣י עַמִּ֑י [1] Etnachta
 
לִֽהְי֤וֹת אַלְמָנוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
שְׁלָלָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֶת־יְתוֹמִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
יָבֹֽזּוּ׃ [1] Silluq

the needy, [2]
 
and to rob [2]
of their rights [2]
the poor among my people; [1]
 
that widows may be [3]
their prey, [2]
 
and the fatherless [2]
they may plunder! [1]

וּלְשׁוֹאָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִמֶּרְחָ֣ק תָּב֑וֹא [1] Etnachta
 
עַל־מִי֙ [3] Pashta
תָּנ֣וּסוּ לְעֶזְרָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וְאָ֥נָה תַעַזְב֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
כְּבוֹדְכֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

in the day of punishment, [2]
 
and in the desolation [2]
which will come from afar? [1]
 
To whom [3]
will you flee for help? [2]
 
And where will you leave [2]
your wealth? [1]
4 בִּלְתִּ֤י כָרַע֙ [3] Pashta
תַּ֣חַת אַסִּ֔יר [2] Zaqef
 
וְתַ֥חַת הֲרוּגִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
יִפֹּ֑לוּ [1] Etnachta
 
בְּכׇל־זֹאת֙ [3] Pashta
לֹא־שָׁ֣ב אַפּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְע֖וֹד [2] Tip'cha
יָד֥וֹ נְטוּיָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

and under the slain [2]

his anger is not turned back, [2]

the rod of my anger; [1]
 
and a staff it is in their hand, [2]
of my indignation! [1]
6 בְּג֤וֹי חָנֵף֙ [3] Pashta
אֲשַׁלְּחֶ֔נּוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַל־עַ֥ם עֶבְרָתִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אֲצַוֶּ֑נּוּ [1] Etnachta
 
לִשְׁלֹ֤ל שָׁלָל֙ [3] Pashta
וְלָבֹ֣ז בַּ֔ז [2] Zaqef
 
*ולשימו **וּלְשׂוּמ֥וֹ מִרְמָ֖ס [2] Tip'cha
כְּחֹ֥מֶר חוּצֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq

I sent him, [2]
 
and against the people of my wrath [2]
I commanded him; [1]
 
to take the plunder [3]
and to take the spoil, [2]
 
and to make it a trampling place [2]
like the mud of the streets. [1]

לֹא־כֵ֣ן יְדַמֶּ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וּלְבָב֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לֹא־כֵ֣ן יַחְשֹׁ֑ב [1] Etnachta
 
כִּ֚י [3] Yetiv
לְהַשְׁמִ֣יד בִּלְבָב֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וּלְהַכְרִ֥ית גּוֹיִ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א מְעָֽט׃ [1] Silluq

he doesn’t intend this, [2]
 
and his heart, [2]
it hasn't planned this; [1]

it is in his heart to destroy, [2]
 
and to cut off nations [2]

אִם־לֹ֤א כְאַרְפַּד֙ [3] Pashta
חֲמָ֔ת [2] Zaqef
 
אִם־לֹ֥א כְדַמֶּ֖שֶׂק [2] Tip'cha
שֹֽׁמְרֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq

Or isn’t [it] like Arpad, [3]
Hamath? [2]
 
Or isn’t [it] like Damascus, [2]

מָצְאָ֣ה יָדִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
לְמַמְלְכֹ֖ת [2] Tip'cha

וּפְסִ֣ילֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef
מִירוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם [2] Tip'cha
וּמִשֹּׁמְרֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq

the kingdoms [2]
of the idol, [1]
 
who had engraved images [2]
more than Jerusalem [2]
and more than Samaria; [1]

בְּהַ֥ר צִיּ֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
וּבִירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם [1] Etnachta
 
אֶפְקֹ֗ד [3] Revi'i
עַל־פְּרִֽי־גֹ֙דֶל֙ [3 3] Pashta
לְבַ֣ב מֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֔וּר [2] Zaqef
 
וְעַל־תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת [2] Tip'cha
ר֥וּם עֵינָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

when the Lord has finished [3]
all his work [2]
 
on Mount Zion [2]
and in Jerusalem, [1]
 
I will punish [3]
the fruit of the willful pride [3 3]
of the heart of the king of Assyria, [2]
 
and the insolence [2]
of his arrogant looks. [1]

כִּ֣י נְבֻנ֑וֹתִי [1] Etnachta
 
וְאָסִ֣יר ׀ [4] Legarmeh
גְּבוּלֹ֣ת עַמִּ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
*ועתידתיהם **וַעֲתֽוּדֹתֵיהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
שׁוֹשֵׂ֔תִי [2] Zaqef
 
וְאוֹרִ֥יד כַּאבִּ֖יר [2] Tip'cha
יֽוֹשְׁבִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

“By the strength of my hand [3]
I have acted, [2]
 
and by my skill [2]
for I have understanding. [1]
 
And I have removed [4]
the boundaries of peoples, [3]
 
and their treasures [3]

and I have brought down like a mighty man [2]
their rulers. [1]
14 וַתִּמְצָ֨א כַקֵּ֤ן ׀ יָדִי֙ [3] Pashta
לְחֵ֣יל הָעַמִּ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְכֶֽאֱסֹף֙ [3] Pashta
בֵּיצִ֣ים עֲזֻב֔וֹת [2] Zaqef
 
כׇּל־הָאָ֖רֶץ [2] Tip'cha
אֲנִ֣י אָסָ֑פְתִּי [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹ֤א הָיָה֙ [3] Pashta
נֹדֵ֣ד כָּנָ֔ף [2] Zaqef
 
וּפֹצֶ֥ה פֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
וּמְצַפְצֵֽף׃ [1] Silluq

the wealth of the peoples; [2]
 
and as one gathers [3]
eggs that are abandoned, [2]
 
all the earth [2]
I, I have gathered. [1]
 
And there was none [3]
who moved their wing, [2]
 
or that opened their mouth [2]
or chirped.” [1]

הַחֹצֵ֣ב בּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
אִם־יִתְגַּדֵּ֤ל הַמַּשּׂוֹר֙ [3] Pashta
עַל־מְנִיפ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
כְּהָנִ֥יף שֵׁ֙בֶט֙ [3 3] Pashta
וְאֶת־מְרִימָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
כְּהָרִ֥ים מַטֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לֹא־עֵֽץ׃ [1] Silluq

the axe, [2]
 
above [2]
the one who cuts with it? [1]
 
Or does the saw exalt itself [3]
above the one who uses it? [2]
 
As if a rod should lift [3 3]
those who lift it up, [2]
 
or as if a staff should lift up [2]
someone who is not wood. [1]

לְאֵ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef
 
וּקְדוֹשׁ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
לְלֶהָבָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וּבָעֲרָ֗ה [3] Revi'i
וְאָכְלָ֛ה [3] Tevir
שִׁית֥וֹ וּשְׁמִיר֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
בְּי֥וֹם אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq

a fire, [2]
 
and its Holy One [2]
a flame; [1]
 
and it will burn [3]
and it will consume [3]
his bushes and his thorns, [2]
in one day. [1]

וְכַרְמִלּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
מִנֶּ֥פֶשׁ וְעַד־בָּשָׂ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
יְכַלֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָיָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
כִּמְסֹ֥ס נֹסֵֽס׃ [1] Silluq

and his fruitful field, [2]
 
both soul and body [2]
he will consume. [1]
 
And it will be [2]
as when one who is sick wastes away. [1]

מִסְפָּ֣ר יִהְי֑וּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְנַ֖עַר [2] Tip'cha

of his forest, [2]
they will be few, [1]
 
so that a child [2]
could write their number. [1]

לֹא־יוֹסִ֨יף ע֜וֹד [4] Geresh
שְׁאָ֤ר יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Pashta
וּפְלֵיטַ֣ת בֵּֽית־יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
לְהִשָּׁעֵ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
עַל־מַכֵּ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְנִשְׁעַ֗ן [3] Revi'i
עַל־יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha

the remnant of Israel, [3]

the remnant of Jacob; [1]
 
to God [2]
who is mighty. [1]
22 כִּ֣י אִם־יִהְיֶ֞ה [4] Gershayim
עַמְּךָ֤ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ [3] Pashta
כְּח֣וֹל הַיָּ֔ם [2] Zaqef

A destruction is determined, [2]
overflowing with righteousness. [1]

בַּשֵּׁ֣בֶט יַכֶּ֔כָּה [2] Zaqef
וּמַטֵּ֥הוּ יִשָּֽׂא־עָלֶ֖יךָ [2] Tip'cha
בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

“Do not be afraid O my people [3]
who dwell in Zion, [2]
of Assyria; [1]
 
though with the rod it will strike you, [2]
and its staff it will lift up against you [2]
as Egypt did. [1]
25 כִּי־ע֖וֹד [2] Tip'cha
מְעַ֣ט מִזְעָ֑ר [1] Etnachta
 
וְכָ֣לָה זַ֔עַם [2] Zaqef
וְאַפִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
עַל־תַּבְלִיתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

a very little while, [1]
 
and the indignation (against you) will be completed, [2]
and my anger [2]
will be directed to their destruction.” [1]
26 וְעוֹרֵ֨ר עָלָ֜יו [4] Geresh
יְהֹוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
שׁ֔וֹט [2] Zaqef
 
כְּמַכַּ֥ת מִדְיָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
בְּצ֣וּר עוֹרֵ֑ב [1] Etnachta
 
וּמַטֵּ֙הוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
עַל־הַיָּ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
וּנְשָׂא֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD of Hosts, [3]
a whip, [2]
 
as in the defeat of Midian [2]
at the rock of Oreb. [1]
 
And his staff [3 3]
will be over the sea, [2]
 
and he will lift it up [2]
as he did against Egypt. [1]
27 וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ [4] Legarmeh

יָס֤וּר סֻבֳּלוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
מֵעַ֣ל שִׁכְמֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וְעֻלּ֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
מֵעַ֣ל צַוָּארֶ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta
 
וְחֻבַּ֥ל עֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
מִפְּנֵי־שָֽׁמֶן׃ [1] Silluq

in that day, [3]
 
that its burden will be removed [3]
from off your shoulder, [2]
 
and its yoke [2]
from off your neck; [1]
 
and the yoke shall be broken [2]
because of fatness. [1]

עָבַ֣ר בְּמִגְר֑וֹן [1] Etnachta
 
לְמִכְמָ֖שׂ [2] Tip'cha
יַפְקִ֥יד כֵּלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq

he has passed through Migron. [1]

he leaves his baggage. [1]

O daughter of Gallim! [1]
 
Pay attention O Laishah! [2]
O afflicted one Anathoth! [1]

יֹשְׁבֵ֥י הַגֵּבִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
הֵעִֽיזוּ׃ [1] Silluq

Madmenah. [1]
 
The inhabitants of Gebim, [2]
they have taken refuge. [1]

יְנֹפֵ֤ף יָדוֹ֙ [3] Pashta

מְסָעֵ֥ף פֻּארָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בְּמַעֲרָצָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
וְרָמֵ֤י הַקּוֹמָה֙ [3] Pashta
גְּדוּעִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
וְהַגְּבֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
יִשְׁפָּֽלוּ׃ [1] Silluq

the LORD of Hosts, [2]
 
is about to lop off boughs [2]
with a crash. [1]
 
And those with lofty height [3]
will be cut down, [2]
 
and the tall, [2]
they will be brought low. [1]

בַּבַּרְזֶ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וְהַלְּבָנ֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
בְּאַדִּ֥יר יִפּֽוֹל׃ [1] Silluq
