1 הָעָם֙ [3] Pashta
הַהֹלְכִ֣ים בַּחֹ֔שֶׁךְ [2] Zaqef
 
רָא֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
א֣וֹר גָּד֑וֹל [1] Etnachta
 
יֹֽשְׁבֵי֙ [3] Pashta
בְּאֶ֣רֶץ צַלְמָ֔וֶת [2] Zaqef
 
א֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
נָגַ֥הּ עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

who walk in the darkness, [2]
 
they will see [2]
a great light. [1]
 
Those who dwell [3]
in a land of deep darkness; [2]
 
a light, [2]
it will shine on them. [1]
2 הִרְבִּ֣יתָ הַגּ֔וֹי [2] Zaqef
*לא **ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
הִגְדַּ֣לְתָּ הַשִּׂמְחָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
שָׂמְח֤וּ לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ [3 3] Pashta
כְּשִׂמְחַ֣ת בַּקָּצִ֔יר [2] Zaqef
 
כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יָגִ֖ילוּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּחַלְּקָ֥ם שָׁלָֽל׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 3 2 3 You will multiply the nation; [2]
to it [2]
you will magnify the rejoicing. [1]
 
They will rejoice before you [3 3]
like the rejoicing at the harvest, [2]
 
just as they are glad [2]
when they divide plunder. [1]

אֶת־עֹ֣ל סֻבֳּל֗וֹ [3] Revi'i
 
וְאֵת֙ [3] Pashta
מַטֵּ֣ה שִׁכְמ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
שֵׁ֖בֶט [2] Tip'cha
הַנֹּגֵ֣שׂ בּ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
הַחִתֹּ֖תָ [2] Tip'cha
כְּי֥וֹם מִדְיָֽן׃ [1] Silluq

the yoke of its burden [3]

the staff of its shoulder, [2]
 
the rod [2]
of its oppressor; [1]
 
you will shatter [2]
as in the day of Midian. [1]
4 כִּ֤י כׇל־סְאוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
סֹאֵ֣ן בְּרַ֔עַשׁ [2] Zaqef
 
וְשִׂמְלָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מְגוֹלָלָ֣ה בְדָמִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וְהָיְתָ֥ה לִשְׂרֵפָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מַאֲכֹ֥לֶת אֵֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq

which marches in the noisy battle, [2]
 
and (every) garment [2]
rolled in blood; [1]
 
it will be for burning, [2]
fuel for the fire. [1]
5 כִּי־יֶ֣לֶד יֻלַּד־לָ֗נוּ [3] Revi'i
בֵּ֚ן [3] Yetiv
נִתַּן־לָ֔נוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וַתְּהִ֥י הַמִּשְׂרָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
עַל־שִׁכְמ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיִּקְרָ֨א שְׁמ֜וֹ [4] Geresh
פֶּ֠לֶא [4] TelishaG
יוֹעֵץ֙ [3] Pashta
אֵ֣ל גִּבּ֔וֹר [2] Zaqef
 
אֲבִי־עַ֖ד [2] Tip'cha
שַׂר־שָׁלֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq

Prince of Peace. [1]

לְהָכִ֤ין אֹתָהּ֙ [3] Pashta
וּֽלְסַעֲדָ֔הּ [2] Zaqef
 
בְּמִשְׁפָּ֖ט [2] Tip'cha
וּבִצְדָקָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
מֵעַתָּה֙ [3] Pashta
וְעַד־עוֹלָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
קִנְאַ֛ת [3] Tevir
יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
תַּעֲשֶׂה־זֹּֽאת׃ [1] Silluq

on the throne of David [3]
and over his kingdom, [2]
 
to establish it [3]

the zeal [3]
of the LORD of Hosts, [2]
it will accomplish this. [1]

שָׁלַ֥ח אֲדֹנָ֖י [2] Tip'cha
בְּיַעֲקֹ֑ב [1] Etnachta
 
וְנָפַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ [1] Silluq

the Lord has sent, [2]
to Jacob; [1]
 
and it will fall [2]
on Israel. [1]
8 וְיָֽדְעוּ֙ [3] Pashta
הָעָ֣ם כֻּלּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
אֶפְרַ֖יִם [2] Tip'cha
וְיוֹשֵׁ֣ב שֹׁמְר֑וֹן [1] Etnachta
 
בְּגַאֲוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
וּבְגֹ֥דֶל לֵבָ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
לֵאמֹֽר׃ [1] Silluq

the people, all of it; [2]
 
Ephraim [2]
and the inhabitants of Samaria; [1]
 
with pride [3]
and with greatness of heart [2]
saying, [1]
9 לְבֵנִ֥ים נָפָ֖לוּ [2] Tip'cha
וְגָזִ֣ית נִבְנֶ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
שִׁקְמִ֣ים גֻּדָּ֔עוּ [2] Zaqef
וַאֲרָזִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
נַחֲלִֽיף׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 2 10 “The bricks have fallen, [2]
but with cut stone we will rebuild. [1]
 
The sycamore trees have been cut down, [2]
but cedars [2]
we will put in their place.” [1]
10 וַיְשַׂגֵּ֧ב יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir
אֶת־צָרֵ֥י רְצִ֖ין [2] Tip'cha
עָלָ֑יו [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֶת־אֹיְבָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
יְסַכְסֵֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 11 Therefore the LORD has set on high [3]
the adversaries of Rezin [2]
against him; [1]
 
and his enemies [2]
he has stirred up; [1]
11 אֲרָ֣ם מִקֶּ֗דֶם [3] Revi'i
וּפְלִשְׁתִּים֙ [3] Pashta
מֵאָח֔וֹר [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּאכְל֥וּ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
בְּכׇל־פֶּ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
בְּכׇל־זֹאת֙ [3] Pashta
לֹא־שָׁ֣ב אַפּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְע֖וֹד [2] Tip'cha
יָד֥וֹ נְטוּיָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

and the Philistines [3]
from the west; [2]
 
and they devoured Israel [2]
with open mouth. [1]
 
For all this, [3]
his anger is not turned back, [2]
 
and still [2]
his hand is stretched out. [1]
12 וְהָעָ֥ם לֹא־שָׁ֖ב [2] Tip'cha
עַד־הַמַּכֵּ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֶת־יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א דָרָֽשׁוּ׃ [1] Silluq

1 2 2 13 Yet the people have not turned back [2]
to him who struck them, [1]
 
and the LORD of Hosts [2]
they have not sought. [1]

13 וַיַּכְרֵ֨ת יְהֹוָ֜ה [4] Geresh
מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֗ל [3] Revi'i
 
רֹ֧אשׁ וְזָנָ֛ב [3] Tevir
כִּפָּ֥ה וְאַגְמ֖וֹן [2] Tip'cha
 
י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 14 So the LORD has cut off [4]
from Israel [3]
 
head and tail, [3]
palm branch and reed, [2]
 
in one day. [1]
14 זָקֵ֥ן וּנְשֽׂוּא־פָנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
ה֣וּא הָרֹ֑אשׁ [1] Etnachta
 
וְנָבִ֥יא מֽוֹרֶה־שֶּׁ֖קֶר [2] Tip'cha
ה֥וּא הַזָּנָֽב׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 15 The elder and the honorable man, [2]
he is the head; [1]
 
and the prophet who teaches lies, [2]
he is the tail. [1]
15 וַיִּֽהְי֛וּ [3] Tevir
מְאַשְּׁרֵ֥י הָֽעָם־הַזֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מַתְעִ֑ים [1] Etnachta
 
וּמְאֻשָּׁרָ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
מְבֻלָּעִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

the guides of this people, [2]
leading them astray; [1]
 
and those who are led by them [2]
were confused. [1]
16 עַל־כֵּ֨ן עַל־בַּחוּרָ֜יו [4] Geresh
לֹא־יִשְׂמַ֣ח ׀ [4] Legarmeh
אֲדֹנָ֗י [3] Revi'i
 
וְאֶת־יְתֹמָ֤יו וְאֶת־אַלְמְנוֹתָיו֙ [3] Pashta
לֹ֣א יְרַחֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֤י כֻלּוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
חָנֵ֣ף וּמֵרַ֔ע [2] Zaqef
 
וְכׇל־פֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
דֹּבֵ֣ר נְבָלָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
בְּכׇל־זֹאת֙ [3] Pashta
לֹא־שָׁ֣ב אַפּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וְע֖וֹד [2] Tip'cha
יָד֥וֹ נְטוּיָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

he does not rejoice, [4]
the Lord; [3]
 
and its fatherless ones and its widows [3]
he doesn't have compassion on; [2]
 
for all of it [3]
is profane and doing evil, [2]
 
and every mouth [2]
speaks disgraceful folly. [1]
 
For all this, [3]
his anger has not turned back, [2]
 
and still [2]
his hand is stretched out. [1]
17 כִּֽי־בָעֲרָ֤ה כָאֵשׁ֙ [3] Pashta
רִשְׁעָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
שָׁמִ֥יר וָשַׁ֖יִת [2] Tip'cha
תֹּאכֵ֑ל [1] Etnachta
 
וַתִּצַּת֙ [3] Pashta
בְּסִֽבְכֵ֣י הַיַּ֔עַר [2] Zaqef
 
וַיִּֽתְאַבְּכ֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
גֵּא֥וּת עָשָֽׁן׃ [1] Silluq

wickedness; [2]
 
thorns and bushes [2]
it devours; [1]
 
it has kindled [3]
in the thickets of the forest, [2]
 
and they swirl [2]
in a rising column of smoke. [1]
18 בְּעֶבְרַ֛ת [3] Tevir
יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
נֶעְתַּ֣ם אָ֑רֶץ [1] Etnachta
 
וַיְהִ֤י הָעָם֙ [3] Pashta
כְּמַאֲכֹ֣לֶת אֵ֔שׁ [2] Zaqef
 
אִ֥ישׁ אֶל־אָחִ֖יו [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א יַחְמֹֽלוּ׃ [1] Silluq

of the LORD of Hosts, [2]
the land has been scorched; [1]
 
and the people [3]
are like fuel for the fire; [2]
 
each one his brother [2]
they did not spare. [1]
19 וַיִּגְזֹ֤ר עַל־יָמִין֙ [3] Pashta
וְרָעֵ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
וַיֹּ֥אכַל עַל־שְׂמֹ֖אול [2] Tip'cha
וְלֹ֣א שָׂבֵ֑עוּ [1] Etnachta
 
אִ֥ישׁ בְּשַׂר־זְרֹע֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
יֹאכֵֽלוּ׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 3 2 2 20 And it devoured on the right side, [3]
and was still hungry; [2]
 
and it ate on the left side, [2]
and they were not satisfied. [1]
 
Everyone the flesh of his own arm [2]
they ate; [1]
20 מְנַשֶּׁ֣ה אֶת־אֶפְרַ֗יִם [3] Revi'i
וְאֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶת־מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
יַחְדָּ֥ו הֵ֖מָּה [2] Tip'cha
עַל־יְהוּדָ֑ה [1] Etnachta
 
בְּכׇל־זֹאת֙ [3] Pashta
לֹא־שָׁ֣ב אַפּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
