1 וְעַתָּ֥ה שְׁמַ֖ע [2] Merkha Tip'cha
יַֽעֲקֹ֣ב עַבְדִּ֑י [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
בָּחַ֥רְתִּי בֽוֹ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq
1 2 2 1 But listen now [2]
O Jacob my servant; [1]
 
Israel [2]
on whom my choice is fixed. [1]
2 כֹּה־אָמַ֨ר יְהֹוָ֥ה עֹשֶׂ֛ךָ [3] Qadma Merkha Tevir
וְיֹצֶרְךָ֥ מִבֶּ֖טֶן [2] Merkha Tip'cha
יַעְזְרֶ֑ךָּ [1] Etnachta
 
אַל־תִּירָא֙ [3] Pashta
עַבְדִּ֣י יַעֲקֹ֔ב [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וִישֻׁר֖וּן [2] Tip'cha
בָּחַ֥רְתִּי בֽוֹ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

and who formed you from the womb, [2]
he will help you; [1]
 
“Do not be afraid [3]
O my servant Jacob, [2]
 
Jeshurun [2]
on whom my choice is fixed. [1]

וְנֹזְלִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
עַל־יַבָּשָׁ֑ה [1] Etnachta

עַל־זַרְעֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef
 
וּבִרְכָתִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
עַל־צֶאֱצָאֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq

on the thirsty land, [2]
 
and streams [2]
on the dry ground; [1]
 
I will pour out my Spirit [3]
on your offspring, [2]
 
and my blessing [2]
on your descendants, [1]
4 וְצָמְח֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּבֵ֣ין חָצִ֑יר [1] Munach Etnachta
 
כַּעֲרָבִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
עַל־יִבְלֵי־מָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq
1 2 2 4 and they will spring up [2]
among the grass; [1]
 
like willows [2]
by flowing streams. [1]
5 זֶ֤ה יֹאמַר֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
לַיהֹוָ֣ה אָ֔נִי [2] Munach Zaqef
 
וְזֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
יִקְרָ֣א בְשֵֽׁם־יַעֲקֹ֑ב [1] Munach Etnachta
 
וְזֶ֗ה [3] Revi'a
יִכְתֹּ֤ב יָדוֹ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
וּבְשֵׁ֥ם יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
יְכַנֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq

‘I belong to the LORD,’ [2]
 
and that one, [2]
he will be called by the name Jacob; [1]
 
and another, [3]
he will write on his hand [3]
‘belongs to the LORD,’ [2]
 
and the name Israel [2]

6 כֹּה־אָמַ֨ר יְהֹוָ֧ה מֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל [3] Qadma Darga Tevir

יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת [1] Munach Etnachta
 
אֲנִ֤י רִאשׁוֹן֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta

וּמִבַּלְעָדַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אֵ֥ין אֱלֹהִֽים׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

and his Redeemer, [2]
the LORD of Hosts; [1]
 
“I am the first [3]
and I am the last, [2]
 
and besides me [2]
there is no God. [1]
7 וּמִי־כָמ֣וֹנִי יִקְרָ֗א [3] Munach Revi'a
וְיַגִּידֶ֤הָ וְיַעְרְכֶ֙הָ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
לִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
מִשּׂוּמִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
עַם־עוֹלָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
וְאֹתִיּ֛וֹת [3] Tevir
וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר תָּבֹ֖אנָה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
יַגִּ֥ידוּ לָֽמוֹ׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

And let him declare it and recount it in order [3]

from when I established [2]
a nation long ago; [1]
 
What is coming [3]
and what will happen, [2]

הִשְׁמַעְתִּ֥יךָ וְהִגַּ֖דְתִּי [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְאַתֶּ֣ם עֵדָ֑י [1] Munach Etnachta
 
הֲיֵ֤שׁ אֱל֙וֹהַּ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
מִבַּלְעָדַ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְאֵ֥ין צ֖וּר [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בַּל־יָדָֽעְתִּי׃ [1] Silluq

was it not long ago [3]
I told you and I declared, [2]

וּבַל־יֵדְע֖וּ [2] Tip'cha

are emptiness, [2]
 
and the things they delight in, [2]
they do not profit; [1]
 
and their own witnesses they are, [3]
they don’t see [3]
and they don't know, [2]
that they may be put to shame. [1]

לְבִלְתִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
הוֹעִֽיל׃ [1] Silluq

or casts an idol; [1]
 
for no [2]
profit? [1]
11 הֵ֤ן כׇּל־חֲבֵרָיו֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
יֵבֹ֔שׁוּ [2] Zaqef
 
וְחָרָשִׁ֥ים הֵ֖מָּה [2] Merkha Tip'cha
מֵאָדָ֑ם [1] Etnachta
 
יִֽתְקַבְּצ֤וּ כֻלָּם֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
יַעֲמֹ֔דוּ [2] Zaqef
 
יִפְחֲד֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
יֵבֹ֥שׁוּ יָֽחַד׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

for the craftsmen [2]

לֹא־שָׁ֥תָה מַ֖יִם [2] Merkha Tip'cha

and he works it [3]
over the coals [2]
 
and with hammers [2]
he fashions it; [1]

with his strong arm, [2]

he drinks no water [2]
and he gets tired. [1]

וַֽיַּעֲשֵׂ֙הוּ֙ [3] Pashta
כְּתַבְנִ֣ית אִ֔ישׁ [2] Munach Zaqef
 
כְּתִפְאֶ֥רֶת אָדָ֖ם [2] Merkha Tip'cha
לָשֶׁ֥בֶת בָּֽיִת׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

he stretches out a line, [2]
 
he marks it with a pencil, [2]
 
he shapes it [3]
with planes, [2]
 
and with a compass [2]

like the beauty of a man, [2]
to be set in a shrine. [1]

וַיְאַמֶּץ־ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
בַּעֲצֵי־יָ֑עַר [1] Etnachta
 
נָטַ֥ע אֹ֖רֶן [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וְגֶ֥שֶׁם יְגַדֵּֽל׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

or he chooses a cypress [3]
or an oak [2]
 
and he lets it grow strong [2]
among the trees of the forest; [1]
 
he plants a pine tree [2]
and the rain makes it grow. [1]

וַיִּקַּ֤ח מֵהֶם֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
וַיָּ֔חׇם [2] Zaqef
 
אַף־יַשִּׂ֖יק [2] Tip'cha
וְאָ֣פָה לָ֑חֶם [1] Munach Etnachta
 
אַף־יִפְעַל־אֵל֙ [3] Pashta
וַיִּשְׁתָּ֔חוּ [2] Zaqef
 
עָשָׂ֥הוּ פֶ֖סֶל [2] Merkha Tip'cha
וַיִּסְגׇּד־לָֽמוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

so he takes one of them [3]
and he warms himself, [2]

וְיִשְׂבָּ֑ע [1] Etnachta
 
אַף־יָחֹם֙ [3] Pashta
וְיֹאמַ֣ר הֶאָ֔ח [2] Munach Zaqef
 
חַמּוֹתִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
רָאִ֥יתִי אֽוּר׃ [1] Merkha Silluq

he eats meat, [2]
 
he roasts a roast [2]

וְיִתְפַּלֵּ֣ל אֵלָ֔יו [2] Munach Zaqef

הַצִּילֵ֔נִי [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י אֵלִ֖י [2] Merkha Tip'cha
אָֽתָּה׃ [1] Silluq

into his idol; [1]
 
he falls down before it and he worships [3]
and he prays to it, [2]

for he has covered over from seeing, [3]

and then the rest of it [3]
shall I make into an abomination? [2]
 
Before a tree trunk [2]
shall I bow down?” [1]
20 רֹעֶ֣ה אֵ֔פֶר [2] Munach Zaqef

הִטָּ֑הוּ [1] Etnachta
 
וְלֹא־יַצִּ֤יל אֶת־נַפְשׁוֹ֙ [3] Mapakh Pashta
וְלֹ֣א יֹאמַ֔ר [2] Munach Zaqef
 
הֲל֥וֹא שֶׁ֖קֶר [2] Merkha Tip'cha
בִּימִינִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

A deceived heart, [2]
it has led him astray; [1]
 
so he can’t deliver his soul, [3]
and he can't say, [2]
 
“Is there not a lie [2]
