1 A man [3] there was in the land of Uz, [2] whose name was Job; [1] that man, [3] and one who feared God, [2] |

2 וַיִּוָּ֥לְדוּ ל֛וֹ [3] Tevir שִׁבְעָ֥ה בָנִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וְשָׁל֥וֹשׁ בָּנֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq |
2 And they were born to him [3] seven sons, [2] and three daughters. [1] |

3 וַיְהִ֣י מִ֠קְנֵ֠הוּ [4 4] TelishaG שִֽׁבְעַ֨ת אַלְפֵי־צֹ֜אן [4] Geresh וּשְׁלֹ֧שֶׁת אַלְפֵ֣י גְמַלִּ֗ים [3] Revi'i וַחֲמֵ֣שׁ מֵא֣וֹת אֲתוֹנ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef רַבָּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד [1] Etnachta הָאִ֣ישׁ הַה֔וּא [2] Zaqef מִכׇּל־בְּנֵי־קֶֽדֶם׃ [1] Silluq |
3 And his livestock was [4 4] seven thousand sheep [4] and three thousand camels, [3] and five hundred female donkeys, [2] very many; [1] that man, [2] more than all the people of the east. [1] |

4 וְהָלְכ֤וּ בָנָיו֙ [3] Pashta וְעָשׂ֣וּ מִשְׁתֶּ֔ה [2] Zaqef אִ֣ישׁ יוֹמ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta וְקָֽרְאוּ֙ [3] Pashta לִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת אַחְיֹתֵיהֶ֔ם [2] Zaqef עִמָּהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
4 And his sons went [3] and they made a feast, [2] of each one his day; [1] and they invited [3] their three sisters [2] with them. [1] |

5 וַיְהִ֡י [4] Pazer כִּ֣י הִקִּ֩יפוּ֩ יְמֵ֨י הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֜ה [4] Geresh וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח אִיּ֣וֹב וַֽיְקַדְּשֵׁ֗ם [3] Revi'i וְהֶעֱלָ֣ה עֹלוֹת֮ [3] Zarqa מִסְפַּ֣ר כֻּלָּם֒ [2] Segol אָמַ֣ר אִיּ֔וֹב [2] Zaqef חָטְא֣וּ בָנַ֔י [2] Zaqef בִּלְבָבָ֑ם [1] Etnachta יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה אִיּ֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha כׇּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq פ |
5 And it was, [4] when the days of the feasting had run their course [4] Job sent and he sanctified them, [3] and he offered up burnt offerings [3] of the number of all of them, [2] Job said, [2] my children have sinned, [2] in their hearts.” [1] Job did [2] continually. [1] ¶ |

6 Now on the day [2] the sons of God, [2] before the LORD; [1] among them. [1] |

7 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהֹוָ֛ה [3] Tevir אֶל־הַשָּׂטָ֖ן [2] Tip'cha מֵאַ֣יִן תָּבֹ֑א [1] Etnachta וַיֹּאמַ֔ר [2] Zaqef וּמֵֽהִתְהַלֵּ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha בָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq |
7 And the LORD said [3] to the adversary, [2] “From where are you coming?” [1] and he said, [2] and from walking up and down [2] on it.” [1] |

8 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta אֶל־הַשָּׂטָ֔ן [2] Zaqef עַל־עַבְדִּ֣י אִיּ֑וֹב [1] Etnachta בָּאָ֔רֶץ [2] Zaqef יְרֵ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וְסָ֥ר מֵרָֽע׃ [1] Silluq |
8 And the LORD said [3] to the adversary, [2] my servant Job? [1] on the earth, [2] fearing God, [2] and who turns aside from evil.” [1] |

9 וַיַּ֧עַן הַשָּׂטָ֛ן [3] Tevir אֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha וַיֹּאמַ֑ר [1] Etnachta יָרֵ֥א אִיּ֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha אֱלֹהִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
9 Then the adversary answered [3] the LORD, [2] and he said; [1] that Job fears [2] God? [1] |

10 הֲלֹֽא־*את **אַ֠תָּ֠ה [4 4] TelishaG שַׂ֣כְתָּ בַעֲד֧וֹ וּבְעַד־בֵּית֛וֹ [3] Tevir וּבְעַ֥ד כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha מִסָּבִ֑יב [1] Etnachta בֵּרַ֔כְתָּ [2] Zaqef פָּרַ֥ץ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
10 Have you not [4 4] put a hedge around him and around his house, [3] and around all that he has, [2] from every side? [1] you have blessed, [2] it is increased in the land. [1] |

11 וְאוּלָם֙ [3] Pashta שְֽׁלַֽח־נָ֣א יָֽדְךָ֔ [2] Zaqef בְּכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֑וֹ [1] Etnachta יְבָרְכֶֽךָּ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 But [3] now stretch out your hand, [2] all that he has; [1] he will renounce you.” [1] |

12 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה [4] Geresh אֶל־הַשָּׂטָ֗ן [3] Revi'i בְּיָדֶ֔ךָ [2] Zaqef אַל־תִּשְׁלַ֖ח [2] Tip'cha יָדֶ֑ךָ [1] Etnachta הַשָּׂטָ֔ן [2] Zaqef פְּנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
12 And the LORD said [4] to the adversary, [3] is in your hand. [2] do not stretch out [2] your hand.” [1] the adversary, [2] the presence of the LORD. [1] |

13 וַיְהִ֖י [2] Tip'cha הַיּ֑וֹם [1] Etnachta וְשֹׁתִ֣ים יַ֔יִן [2] Zaqef אֲחִיהֶ֥ם הַבְּכֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq |
13 And it came, [2] the day; [1] and drinking wine [2] of their oldest brother, [1] |

14 וּמַלְאָ֛ךְ [3] Tevir בָּ֥א אֶל־אִיּ֖וֹב [2] Tip'cha וַיֹּאמַ֑ר [1] Etnachta הָי֣וּ חֹֽרְשׁ֔וֹת [2] Zaqef רֹע֥וֹת עַל־יְדֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
14 and a messenger, [3] he came to Job, [2] and he said; [1] they were plowing, [2] grazing beside them, [1] |

15 וַתִּפֹּ֤ל שְׁבָא֙ [3] Pashta וַתִּקָּחֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef הִכּ֣וּ לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב [1] Etnachta לְבַדִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
15 then the Sabeans attacked [3] and took them away, [2] they struck down with the edge of the sword; [1] I alone, [2] to tell you.” [1] |

16 ע֣וֹד ׀ [4] Legarmeh זֶ֣ה מְדַבֵּ֗ר [3] Revi'i בָּ֣א וַיֹּאמַר֒ [2] Segol נָֽפְלָה֙ [3] Pashta מִן־הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם [2] Zaqef וּבַנְּעָרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha וַתֹּֽאכְלֵ֑ם [1] Etnachta לְבַדִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
16 While still [4] this one was speaking, [3] he came and said, [2] it fell [3] from the heavens, [2] and the servants, [2] and it consumed them; [1] I alone, [2] to tell you.” [1] |

17 ע֣וֹד ׀ [4] Legarmeh זֶ֣ה מְדַבֵּ֗ר [3] Revi'i בָּ֣א וַיֹּאמַר֒ [2] Segol שָׂ֣מוּ ׀ [4] Legarmeh שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה רָאשִׁ֗ים [3] Revi'i וַיִּקָּח֔וּם [2] Zaqef הִכּ֣וּ לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב [1] Etnachta לְבַדִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
17 While still [4] this one was speaking, [3] he came and said, [2] they formed [4] three companies, [3] and they took them away, [2] they struck down with the edge of the sword; [1] I alone, [2] to tell you.” [1] |

18 עַ֚ד [3] Yetiv זֶ֣ה מְדַבֵּ֔ר [2] Zaqef בָּ֣א וַיֹּאמַ֑ר [1] Etnachta וְשֹׁתִ֣ים יַ֔יִן [2] Zaqef אֲחִיהֶ֥ם הַבְּכֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq |
18 Then while [3] this one was speaking, [2] he came and said; [1] and drinking wine [2] of their oldest brother, [1] |

19 וְהִנֵּה֩ ר֨וּחַ גְּדוֹלָ֜ה [4] Geresh בָּ֣אָה ׀ [4] Legarmeh מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַמִּדְבָּ֗ר [3] Revi'i בְּאַרְבַּע֙ [3] Pashta פִּנּ֣וֹת הַבַּ֔יִת [2] Zaqef וַיָּמ֑וּתוּ [1] Etnachta לְבַדִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha לְהַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
19 and behold a great wind, [4] it came [4] from across the wilderness, [3] on the four [3] the corners of the house, [2] and they died; [1] I alone, [2] to tell you.” [1] |

20 וַיָּ֤קׇם אִיּוֹב֙ [3] Pashta וַיִּקְרַ֣ע אֶת־מְעִל֔וֹ [2] Zaqef אֶת־רֹאשׁ֑וֹ [1] Etnachta וַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃ [1] Silluq |
20 Then Job arose [3] and he tore his robe, [2] his head; [1] and he bowed down. [1] |

21 וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ עָרֹ֨ם יָצָ֜תִי [4] Geresh מִבֶּ֣טֶן אִמִּ֗י [3] Revi'i אָשׁ֣וּב שָׁ֔מָּה [2] Zaqef וַֽיהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha לָקָ֑ח [1] Etnachta שֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha מְבֹרָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
21 And he said, “Naked I came out [4] from the womb of my mother, [3] will I return there. [2] and the LORD, [2] he has taken; [1] the name of the LORD [2] be blessed.” [1] |

22 בְּכׇל־זֹ֖את [2] Tip'cha לֹא־חָטָ֣א אִיּ֑וֹב [1] Etnachta לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ [1] Silluq פ |
22 In all this [2] Job did not sin; [1] to God. [1] ¶ |
