[1] Silluq |
2 “Listen carefully to [3] my words; [2] your consolation. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
3 Bear with me [3] and I, I will speak; [2] you can mock. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
4 As for me, [3] is my complaint against man? [2] should I not be impatient? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
5 Look at me and be appalled; [2] over mouth. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
6 When I remember, I am troubled; [2] shuddering. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
7 “Why the wicked, [3] do they live; [2] and they increase in strength? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
8 Their children are established in their presence [3] with them; [2] before their eyes. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
9 Their houses are safe [3] from fear; [2] upon them. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
10 His bull breeds [3] without fail; [2] and doesn’t miscarry. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
11 They send out like a flock [3] their little ones; [2] they dance. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
12 They sing [3] to the tambourine and harp; [2] to the sound of the flute. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
13 They finish out in prosperity [3] their days; [2] they go down to Sheol. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
14 Yet they say to God, [3] ‘Depart from us; [2] we do not desire. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
15 What is the Almighty that we should serve him; [2] if we pray to him?’ [1] |
[1] Silluq |
16 Behold, not in their own hand [3] is their prosperity; [2] it is far from me. [1] |
17 “How often is it [4] that the lamp of the wicked is extinguished, [3] their calamity; [2] He allots in his anger? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
18 that they [3] are like straw before the wind; [2] that a storm carries away? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
19 God, [3] he stores up for his children his punishment. [2] that he may know. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
20 Let his own eyes see [3] his destruction; [2] let him drink. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
21 For what does he care for his household [3] after him; [2] is cut off? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
22 “Shall anyone teach God knowledge; [2] he judges those who are on high? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
23 One, [3] he will die [3] in his full strength; [2] secure and at ease. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
24 His pails, [3] they are full of milk; [2] it is moist. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
25 Yet another, [3] he will die [3] in bitterness of soul; [2] goodness. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
26 Together [3] they will lie in the dust; [2] it will cover over them. [1] |
[1] Silluq |
27 “Behold, I know [3] your thoughts; [2] by which you would wrong me. [1] |
28 For you say, [3] ‘Where is the house of the prince; [2] is the tent [4/2] in which the wicked lived?’ [1] |
[1] Silluq |
29 Haven’t you asked [3] those who travel the roads; [2] don't you accept? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
30 that for the day of calamity [3] the wicked are reserved; [2] they are brought forth? [1] |
[1] Silluq |
31 Who will declare to his face [3] his way; [2] who will repay him? [1] |
[2] Etnachta |
32 And he, [3] he will be borne to the grave; [2] |
33 It will be sweet to him, [3] the soil of the valley; [2] all men will follow, [2] countless others. [1] |

34 So how [3] will your emptiness comfort me; [2] there remains only falsehood?” [1] ¶ |
