1 וַ֭יַּעַן [3] Dechi
אֱלִיפַ֥ז הַֽתֵּמָנִ֗י [3/2] Revi'i
וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 1 Then he answered, [3]
Eliphaz the Temanite, [3/2]
and he said, [1]
2 הַלְאֵ֥ל יִסְכׇּן־גָּ֑בֶר [2] Etnachta
 
כִּֽי־יִסְכֹּ֖ן עָלֵ֣ימוֹ [2] VRevMug
מַשְׂכִּֽיל׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 2 “To God can a man be of use? [2]
 
Can he be of use to Him, [2]
the wise? [1]
3 הַחֵ֣פֶץ לְ֭שַׁדַּי [3] Dechi
כִּ֣י תִצְדָּ֑ק [2] Etnachta
 
וְאִם־בֶּ֝֗צַע [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כִּֽי־תַתֵּ֥ם דְּרָכֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 Is it any pleasure to the Almighty [3]
if you are righteous; [2]
 
or benefit [2]
if you make your ways blameless? [1]
4 הֲֽ֭מִיִּרְאָ֣תְךָ [3] Dechi
יֹכִיחֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
יָב֥וֹא עִ֝מְּךָ֗ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 4 Is it for your reverence [3]
that he reproves you; [2]
 
that he enters with you [2]
into judgment? [1]
5 הֲלֹ֣א רָעָֽתְךָ֣ [3] VDechi
רַבָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְאֵֽין־קֵ֝֗ץ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לַעֲוֺנֹתֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 5 Is not your wickedness [3]
great; [2]
 
and no end is there [2]
to your iniquities? [1]
6 כִּֽי־תַחְבֹּ֣ל אַחֶ֣יךָ [3] VDechi
חִנָּ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
וּבִגְדֵ֖י עֲרוּמִּ֣ים [2] VRevMug
תַּפְשִֽׁיט׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 6 For you have taken a pledge of your brothers [3]
for no reason; [2]
 
and the clothing of the naked [2]
you have stripped off. [1]
7 לֹא־מַ֭יִם [3] Dechi
עָיֵ֣ף תַּשְׁקֶ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝מֵרָעֵ֗ב [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תִּֽמְנַֽע־לָֽחֶם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 7 No water [3]
have you given the weary to drink; [2]
 
and from the hungry [2]
you have withheld bread. [1]
8 וְאִ֣ישׁ זְ֭רוֹעַ [3] Dechi
ל֣וֹ הָאָ֑רֶץ [2] Etnachta
 
וּנְשׂ֥וּא פָ֝נִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יֵ֣שֶׁב בָּֽהּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 But a mighty one, [3]
he owned the land; [2]
 
and one who was favored, [2]
he lived in it. [1]
9 אַ֭לְמָנוֹת [3] Dechi
שִׁלַּ֣חְתָּ רֵיקָ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
וּזְרֹע֖וֹת יְתֹמִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
יְדֻכָּֽא׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 9 Widows [3]
you have sent away empty; [2]
 
and the arms of the fatherless [2]
have been crushed. [1]
10 עַל־כֵּ֭ן [3] Dechi
סְבִיבוֹתֶ֣יךָ פַחִ֑ים [2] Etnachta
 
וִ֝יבַהֶלְךָ֗ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
פַּ֣חַד פִּתְאֹֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 10 That is why [3]
snares surround you; [2]
 
and it terrifies you, [2]
sudden fear, [1]
11 אוֹ־חֹ֥שֶׁךְ לֹֽא־תִרְאֶ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְֽשִׁפְעַת־מַ֥יִם תְּכַסֶּֽךָּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 11 or it is so dark that you can not see; [2]
 
and a flood of water covers you. [1]
12 הֲֽלֹא־אֱ֭לוֹהַּ [3] Dechi
גֹּ֣בַהּ שָׁמָ֑יִם [2] Etnachta
 
וּרְאֵ֤ה רֹ֖אשׁ כּוֹכָבִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
כִּי־רָֽמּוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 12 “Is not God [3]
in the heights of heaven? [2]
 
And see the highest of the stars, [2]
how high they are! [1]
13 וְֽ֭אָמַרְתָּ [3] Dechi
מַה־יָּ֣דַֽע אֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta
 
הַבְעַ֖ד עֲרָפֶ֣ל [2] VRevMug
יִשְׁפּֽוֹט׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 13 But you say, [3]
‘What does God know; [2]
 
through thick darkness [2]
can he judge? [1]
14 עָבִ֣ים סֵֽתֶר־ל֭וֹ [3] Dechi
וְלֹ֣א יִרְאֶ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְח֥וּג שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יִתְהַלָּֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 14 Thick clouds veil him [3]
and he does not see; [2]
 
as (in) the vault of the heavens [2]
he walks.’ [1]
15 הַאֹ֣רַח עוֹלָ֣ם [3] VDechi
תִּשְׁמ֑וֹר [2] Etnachta
 
אֲשֶׁ֖ר דָּרְכ֣וּ [2] VRevMug
מְתֵי־אָֽוֶן׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 15 The old way [3]
will you keep; [2]
 
which they have trodden, [2]
wicked men, [1]
16 אֲשֶֽׁר־קֻמְּט֥וּ וְלֹא־עֵ֑ת [2] Etnachta
 
נָ֝הָ֗ר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יוּצַ֥ק יְסוֹדָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 16 who were snatched away before their time; [2]
 
by a river [2]
their foundation was washed away, [1]
17 הָאֹמְרִ֣ים לָ֭אֵל [3] Dechi
ס֣וּר מִמֶּ֑נּוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וּמַה־יִּפְעַ֖ל שַׁדַּ֣י [2] VRevMug
לָֽמוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 17 who said to God, [3]
‘Depart from us,’ [2]
 
and what does the Almighty do [2]
to them? [1]
18 וְה֤וּא מִלֵּ֣א בָתֵּיהֶ֣ם [3] VDechi
ט֑וֹב [2] Etnachta
 
וַעֲצַ֥ת רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
רָ֣חֲקָה מֶֽנִּי׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 18 Yet he, he filled their houses [3]
with good things; [2]
 
but the counsel of the wicked, [2]
it is far from me. [1]
19 יִרְא֣וּ צַדִּיקִ֣ים [3] VDechi
וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נָקִ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יִלְעַג־לָֽמוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 19 The righteous see [3]
and they rejoice; [2]
 
and the innocent, [2]
he mocks them. [1]
20 אִם־לֹ֣א נִכְחַ֣ד [3] VDechi
קִימָ֑נוּ [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝יִתְרָ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אָ֣כְלָה אֵֽשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 ‘Surely he is cut off, [3]
our adversary; [2]
 
and their abundance, [2]
fire consumes.’ [1]
21 הַסְכֶּן־נָ֣א עִמּ֣וֹ [3] VDechi
וּשְׁלָ֑ם [2] Etnachta
 
בָּ֝הֶ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תְּֽבוֹאַתְךָ֥ טוֹבָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 21 “Reconcile now with Him [3]
and be at peace; [2]
 
in this way [2]
good will come to you. [1]
22 קַח־נָ֣א מִפִּ֣יו [3] VDechi
תּוֹרָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְשִׂ֥ים אֲ֝מָרָ֗יו [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בִּלְבָבֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 22 Please accept from his mouth [3]
instruction; [2]
 
and store up his words [2]
in your heart. [1]
23 אִם־תָּשׁ֣וּב עַד־שַׁ֭דַּי [3] Dechi
תִּבָּנֶ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
תַּרְחִ֥יק עַ֝וְלָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מֵאׇהֳלֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 23 If you return to the Almighty [3]
you will be built up; [2]
 
if you remove injustice [2]
from your tent, [1]
24 וְשִׁית־עַל־עָפָ֥ר בָּ֑צֶר [2] Etnachta
 
וּכְצ֖וּר נְחָלִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
אוֹפִֽיר׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 24 and lay your gold in the dust; [2]
 
and among the stones of the brooks, [2]
the gold of Ophir. [1]
25 וְהָיָ֣ה שַׁדַּ֣י [3] VDechi
בְּצָרֶ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְכֶ֖סֶף תּוֹעָפ֣וֹת [2] VRevMug
לָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 25 Then the Almighty will be [3]
your gold; [2]
 
and precious silver [2]
to you. [1]
26 כִּי־אָ֭ז [3] Dechi
עַל־שַׁדַּ֣י תִּתְעַנָּ֑ג [2] Etnachta
 
וְתִשָּׂ֖א אֶל־אֱל֣וֹהַּ [2] VRevMug
פָּנֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 26 For then [3]
in the Almighty you will take delight; [2]
 
and you will lift up to God [2]
your face. [1]
27 תַּעְתִּ֣יר אֵ֭לָיו [3] Dechi
וְיִשְׁמָעֶ֑ךָּ [2] Etnachta
 
וּנְדָרֶ֥יךָ תְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 27 You will pray to him [3]
and he will hear you; [2]
 
and your vows you will fulfill. [1]
28 וְֽתִגְזַר־אֹ֭מֶר [3] Dechi
וְיָ֣קׇם לָ֑ךְ [2] Etnachta
 
וְעַל־דְּ֝רָכֶ֗יךָ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נָ֣גַהּ אֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 28 And you will decide a matter, [3]
and it will be done for you; [2]
 
and on your ways [2]
light will shine. [1]
29 כִּֽי־הִ֭שְׁפִּילוּ [3] Dechi
וַתֹּ֣אמֶר גֵּוָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְשַׁ֖ח עֵינַ֣יִם [2] VRevMug
יוֹשִֽׁעַ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 29 When people are brought low [3]
and you say, ‘Arise,’ [2]
 
then the humble [2]
he will save. [1]
30 יְמַלֵּ֥ט אִֽי־נָקִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נִמְלַ֗ט [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּבֹ֣ר כַּפֶּֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq

2 2 30 He will deliver even one who is not innocent; [2]
 
and he will be delivered [2]
by the cleanness of your hands.” [1]
