1 אֲנִ֤י הַגֶּ֙בֶר֙ [3 3] Pashta
רָאָ֣ה עֳנִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
בְּשֵׁ֖בֶט [2] Tip'cha
עֶבְרָתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 1 I am the man [3 3]
who has seen affliction, [2]
 
by the rod [2]
of his wrath. [1]

2 אוֹתִ֥י נָהַ֛ג [3] Tevir
וַיֹּלַ֖ךְ [2] Tip'cha
חֹ֥שֶׁךְ וְלֹא־אֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 Me he has driven [3]
and he has made to walk, [2]
in darkness and not light. [1]

3 אַ֣ךְ בִּ֥י יָשֻׁ֛ב [3] Tevir
יַהֲפֹ֥ךְ יָד֖וֹ [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 3 Surely against me he again [3]
he turns his hand, [2]
all the day. [1]

4 בִּלָּ֤ה בְשָׂרִי֙ [3] Pashta
וְעוֹרִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
שִׁבַּ֖ר [2] Tip'cha
עַצְמוֹתָֽי׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 4 He has made to waste away my flesh [3]
and my skin, [2]
 
he has broken [2]
my bones. [1]

5 בָּנָ֥ה עָלַ֛י [3] Tevir
וַיַּקַּ֖ף [2] Tip'cha
רֹ֥אשׁ וּתְלָאָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 5 He has besieged me [3]
and he has surrounded, [2]
(with) bitterness and hardship. [1]

6 בְּמַחֲשַׁכִּ֥ים הוֹשִׁיבַ֖נִי [2] Tip'cha
כְּמֵתֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 6 In dark places he has made me dwell, [2]
like those long dead. [1]
§
7 גָּדַ֧ר בַּעֲדִ֛י [3] Tevir
וְלֹ֥א אֵצֵ֖א [2] Tip'cha
הִכְבִּ֥יד נְחׇשְׁתִּֽי׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 7 He has walled me in [3]
so I can’t get out, [2]
he has made heavy my chain. [1]

8 גַּ֣ם כִּ֤י אֶזְעַק֙ [3] Pashta
וַאֲשַׁוֵּ֔עַ [2] Zaqef
 
שָׂתַ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
תְּפִלָּתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 8 Even when I cry out [3]
and I call for help, [2]
 
he shuts out [2]
my prayer. [1]

9 גָּדַ֤ר דְּרָכַי֙ [3] Pashta
בְּגָזִ֔ית [2] Zaqef
 
נְתִיבֹתַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
עִוָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 9 He has walled in my ways [3]
with cut stone, [2]
 
my paths [2]
he has made crooked. [1]

10 דֹּ֣ב אֹרֵ֥ב הוּא֙ [3] Pashta
לִ֔י [2] Zaqef

בְּמִסְתָּרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 10 A bear lying in wait he is [3]
to me, [2]
 
a lion [2]
in hiding. [1]

11 דְּרָכַ֥י סוֹרֵ֛ר [3] Tevir
וַֽיְפַשְּׁחֵ֖נִי [2] Tip'cha
שָׂמַ֥נִי שֹׁמֵֽם׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 11 My paths he has turned aside [3]
and he has torn me in pieces, [2]
he has made me desolate. [1]

12 דָּרַ֤ךְ קַשְׁתּוֹ֙ [3] Pashta
וַיַּצִּיבֵ֔נִי [2] Zaqef
 
כַּמַּטָּרָ֖א [2] Tip'cha
לַחֵֽץ׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 12 He has bent his bow [3]
and he has set me, [2]
 
as the mark [2]
for the arrow. [1]

13 הֵבִיא֙ [3] Pashta
בְּכִלְיֹתָ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
בְּנֵ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אַשְׁפָּתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 13 He has sent [3]
into my kidneys [2]
 
the arrows [2]
of his quiver. [1]

14 הָיִ֤יתִי שְּׂחֹק֙ [3] Pashta
לְכׇל־עַמִּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
נְגִינָתָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 14 I have become a laughingstock [3]
to all my people, [2]
 
their taunt song [2]
all day long. [1]

15 הִשְׂבִּיעַ֥נִי בַמְּרוֹרִ֖ים [2] Tip'cha
הִרְוַ֥נִי לַעֲנָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 15 He has filled me with bitterness, [2]
he has made me drink wormwood. [1]

16 וַיַּגְרֵ֤ס בֶּֽחָצָץ֙ [3] Pashta
שִׁנָּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
הִכְפִּישַׁ֖נִי [2] Tip'cha
בָּאֵֽפֶר׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 16 And he has broken with gravel [3]
my teeth, [2]
 
he has made me wallow [2]
in ashes. [1]

17 וַתִּזְנַ֧ח מִשָּׁל֛וֹם [3] Tevir
נַפְשִׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha
נָשִׁ֥יתִי טוֹבָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 17 And it has been deprived of peace, [3]
my soul, [2]
I have forgotten goodness. [1]

18 וָאֹמַר֙ [3] Pashta
אָבַ֣ד נִצְחִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וְתוֹחַלְתִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
מֵיְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 18 So I said, [3]
“My strength has perished, [2]
 
and my hope [2]
from the LORD.” [1]

19 זְכׇר־עׇנְיִ֥י וּמְרוּדִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לַעֲנָ֥ה וָרֹֽאשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 19 Remember my affliction and my wanderings, [2]
the wormwood and the bitterness. [1]

20 זָכ֣וֹר תִּזְכּ֔וֹר [2] Zaqef
*ותשיח **וְתָשׁ֥וֹחַ עָלַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
נַפְשִֽׁי׃ [1] Silluq

2 2 20 It still remembers [2]
and it is bowed down within me, [2]
my soul. [1]

21 זֹ֛את [3] Tevir
אָשִׁ֥יב אֶל־לִבִּ֖י [2] Tip'cha
עַל־כֵּ֥ן אוֹחִֽיל׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 21 This [3]
I recall to my heart, [2]
therefore I have hope. [1]

22 חַֽסְדֵ֤י יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
כִּ֣י לֹא־תָ֔מְנוּ [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י לֹא־כָל֖וּ [2] Tip'cha
רַחֲמָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 22 (It is because of) the lovingkindness of the LORD [3]
that we have not met our end, [2]
 
for they never come to an end, [2]
his mercies. [1]

23 חֲדָשִׁים֙ [3] Pashta
לַבְּקָרִ֔ים [2] Zaqef
 
רַבָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
אֱמוּנָתֶֽךָ׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 23 They are new [3]
every morning, [2]
 
great [2]
is your faithfulness. [1]

24 חֶלְקִ֤י יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
אָמְרָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
עַל־כֵּ֖ן [2] Tip'cha
אוֹחִ֥יל לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 24 “The LORD is my portion,” [3]
says my soul, [2]
 
“Therefore [2]
I will hope in him.” [1]

25 ט֤וֹב יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
לְקֹוָ֔ו [2] Zaqef
 
לְנֶ֖פֶשׁ [2] Tip'cha
תִּדְרְשֶֽׁנּוּ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 25 The LORD is good [3]
to those who wait for him, [2]
 
to the soul [2]
who seeks him. [1]

26 ט֤וֹב וְיָחִיל֙ [3] Pashta
וְדוּמָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
לִתְשׁוּעַ֖ת [2] Tip'cha
יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 26 It is good to wait [3]
quietly [2]
 
for the salvation [2]
of the LORD. [1]

27 ט֣וֹב לַגֶּ֔בֶר [2] Zaqef
כִּֽי־יִשָּׂ֥א עֹ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
בִּנְעוּרָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 2 27 It is good for a man [2]
that he bear a yoke [2]
in his youth. [1]

28 יֵשֵׁ֤ב בָּדָד֙ [3] Pashta
וְיִדֹּ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
כִּ֥י נָטַ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
עָלָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 28 Let him sit alone [3]
and let him be silent, [2]
 
since he has laid it [2]
upon him. [1]

29 יִתֵּ֤ן בֶּֽעָפָר֙ [3] Pashta
פִּ֔יהוּ [2] Zaqef
 
אוּלַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
יֵ֥שׁ תִּקְוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 29 Let him put in the dust [3]
his mouth, [2]
 
— perhaps [2]
there may be hope. [1]

30 יִתֵּ֧ן לְמַכֵּ֛הוּ [3] Tevir
לֶ֖חִי [2] Tip'cha
יִשְׂבַּ֥ע בְּחֶרְפָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 30 Let him offer to the one who strikes him [3]
a cheek, [2]
let him have his fill of insults. [1]

31 כִּ֣י לֹ֥א יִזְנַ֛ח [3] Tevir
לְעוֹלָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
אֲדֹנָֽי׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 31 For he will not reject [3]
forever, [2]
the Lord. [1]
§
32 כִּ֣י אִם־הוֹגָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
וְרִחַ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
כְּרֹ֥ב חֲסָדָֽיו׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 2 32 For though he has caused grief, [2]
yet he will have compassion [2]
according to his abundant mercies. [1]

33 כִּ֣י לֹ֤א עִנָּה֙ [3] Pashta
מִלִּבּ֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
וַיַּגֶּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
בְּנֵי־אִֽישׁ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 33 For not has he afflicted [3]
from his heart, [2]
 
or has he grieved [2]
the children of men. [1]

34 לְדַכֵּא֙ [3] Pashta
תַּ֣חַת רַגְלָ֔יו [2] Zaqef
 
כֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
אֲסִ֥ירֵי אָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 34 To crush [3]
under his foot [2]
 
all [2]
the prisoners of the land, [1]
§
35 לְהַטּוֹת֙ [3] Pashta
מִשְׁפַּט־גָּ֔בֶר [2] Zaqef
 
נֶ֖גֶד [2] Tip'cha
פְּנֵ֥י עֶלְיֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 35 to deprive [3]
a man of justice [2]
 
before [2]
the face of the Most High, [1]
§
36 לְעַוֵּ֤ת אָדָם֙ [3] Pashta
בְּרִיב֔וֹ [2] Zaqef
 
אֲדֹנָ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א רָאָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 36 to subvert a man [3]
in his lawsuit, [2]
 
the Lord, [2]
does he not see? [1]

37 מִ֣י זֶ֤ה אָמַר֙ [3] Pashta
וַתֶּ֔הִי [2] Zaqef
 
אֲדֹנָ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א צִוָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 37 Who can speak [3]
and it comes to pass, [2]
 
if the Lord, [2]
he has not ordained it? [1]

38 מִפִּ֤י עֶלְיוֹן֙ [3] Pashta
לֹ֣א תֵצֵ֔א [2] Zaqef
 
הָרָע֖וֹת [2] Tip'cha
וְהַטּֽוֹב׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 38 From the mouth of the Most High [3]
do they not come forth, [2]
 
(both) the calamities [2]
and the good? [1]

39 מַה־יִּתְאוֹנֵן֙ [3] Pashta
אָדָ֣ם חָ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
גֶּ֖בֶר [2] Tip'cha
עַל־חֲטָאָֽו׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 39 Why should he complain, [3]
a living man, [2]
 
a man [2]
against (punishment for) his sins? [1]

40 נַחְפְּשָׂ֤ה דְרָכֵ֙ינוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
וְֽנַחְקֹ֔רָה [2] Zaqef
 
וְנָשׁ֖וּבָה [2] Tip'cha
עַד־יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 40 Let us examine our ways [3 3]
and let us investigate, [2]
 
and let us return [2]
to the LORD. [1]

41 נִשָּׂ֤א לְבָבֵ֙נוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
אֶל־כַּפָּ֔יִם [2] Zaqef
 
אֶל־אֵ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 41 Let us lift up our heart [3 3]
and hands [2]
 
to God [2]
in the heavens. [1]

42 נַ֤חְנוּ פָשַׁ֙עְנוּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
וּמָרִ֔ינוּ [2] Zaqef
 
אַתָּ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א סָלָֽחְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 42 “We, we have transgressed [3 3]
and we have rebelled, [2]
 
you, [2]
you have not pardoned. [1]

43 סַכּ֤וֹתָה בָאַף֙ [3] Pashta
וַֽתִּרְדְּפֵ֔נוּ [2] Zaqef
 
הָרַ֖גְתָּ [2] Tip'cha
לֹ֥א חָמָֽלְתָּ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 43 “You covered yourself with anger [3]
and you pursued us, [2]
 
you have slain, [2]
you have not pitied. [1]

44 סַכּ֤וֹתָה בֶֽעָנָן֙ [3] Pashta
לָ֔ךְ [2] Zaqef
 
מֵעֲב֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
תְּפִלָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 44 With a cloud you have covered [3]
yourself [2]
 
so it can't pass through, [2]
prayer. [1]

45 סְחִ֧י וּמָא֛וֹס [3] Tevir
תְּשִׂימֵ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha
בְּקֶ֥רֶב הָעַמִּֽים׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 45 An off-scouring and refuse [3]
you have made us [2]
in the midst of the peoples. [1]

46 פָּצ֥וּ עָלֵ֛ינוּ [3] Tevir
פִּיהֶ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־אֹיְבֵֽינוּ׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 46 “They have opened wide against us [3]
their mouth, [2]
all our enemies. [1]
§
47 פַּ֧חַד וָפַ֛חַת [3] Tevir
הָ֥יָה לָ֖נוּ [2] Tip'cha
הַשֵּׁ֥את וְהַשָּֽׁבֶר׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 47 Terror and a trap, [3]
it has come upon us, [2]
devastation and destruction.” [1]

48 פַּלְגֵי־מַ֙יִם֙ [3 3] Pashta
תֵּרַ֣ד עֵינִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
עַל־שֶׁ֖בֶר [2] Tip'cha
בַּת־עַמִּֽי׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 48 Streams of water, [3 3]
it runs down my eye, [2]
 
over the destruction [2]
of the daughter of my people. [1]

49 עֵינִ֧י נִגְּרָ֛ה [3] Tevir
וְלֹ֥א תִדְמֶ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מֵאֵ֥ין הֲפֻגֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 49 My eye flows [3]
and doesn’t cease, [2]
without stopping, [1]
§
50 עַד־יַשְׁקִ֣יף וְיֵ֔רֶא [2] Zaqef
יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 2 50 until he looks down and he sees, [2]
the LORD [2]
from heaven. [1]

51 עֵינִי֙ [3] Pashta
עֽוֹלְלָ֣ה לְנַפְשִׁ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
מִכֹּ֖ל [2] Tip'cha
בְּנ֥וֹת עִירִֽי׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 51 My eye [3]
torments my soul, [2]
 
because of all [2]
the daughters of my city. [1]

52 צ֥וֹד צָד֛וּנִי [3] Tevir
כַּצִּפּ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
אֹיְבַ֥י חִנָּֽם׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 52 They chased me relentlessly [3]
like a bird, [2]
those who were my enemies without cause. [1]

53 צָֽמְת֤וּ בַבּוֹר֙ [3] Pashta
חַיָּ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
וַיַּדּוּ־אֶ֖בֶן [2] Tip'cha
בִּֽי׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 53 They cut off in the pit [3]
my life, [2]
 
and they cast stones [2]
upon me. [1]

54 צָֽפוּ־מַ֥יִם עַל־רֹאשִׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha
אָמַ֥רְתִּי נִגְזָֽרְתִּי׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 54 Waters flowed over my head, [2]
I said, “I have been cut off.” [1]

55 קָרָ֤אתִי שִׁמְךָ֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
מִבּ֖וֹר [2] Tip'cha
תַּחְתִּיּֽוֹת׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 55 I called your name, [3]
O LORD, [2]
 
from the pit, [2]
the bottom. [1]

56 קוֹלִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
שָׁמָ֑עְתָּ [1] Etnachta
 
אַל־תַּעְלֵ֧ם אׇזְנְךָ֛ [3] Tevir
לְרַוְחָתִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
לְשַׁוְעָתִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

1 2 2 3 56 My voice [2]
you heard, [1]
 
“Do not hide your ear [3]
at my sighing, [2]
at my cry for help.” [1]

57 קָרַ֙בְתָּ֙ [3 3] Pashta
בְּי֣וֹם אֶקְרָאֶ֔ךָּ [2] Zaqef
 
אָמַ֖רְתָּ [2] Tip'cha
אַל־תִּירָֽא׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 57 You drew near [3 3]
in the day that I called on you, [2]
 
you said, [2]
“Don’t be afraid.” [1]

58 רַ֧בְתָּ אֲדֹנָ֛י [3] Tevir
רִיבֵ֥י נַפְשִׁ֖י [2] Tip'cha
גָּאַ֥לְתָּ חַיָּֽי׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 58 You have pleaded O Lord [3]
the cases of my soul, [2]
you have redeemed my life. [1]

59 רָאִ֤יתָה יְהֹוָה֙ [3] Pashta
עַוָּ֣תָתִ֔י [2] Zaqef
 
שׇׁפְטָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
מִשְׁפָּטִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 59 You have seen O LORD [3]
the wrong done to me, [2]
 
judge [2]
my cause. [1]

60 רָאִ֙יתָה֙ [3 3] Pashta
כׇּל־נִקְמָתָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
כׇּל־מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
לִֽי׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 60 You have seen [3 3]
all their vengefulness, [2]
 
all their plans [2]
against me. [1]

61 שָׁמַ֤עְתָּ חֶרְפָּתָם֙ [3] Pashta
יְהֹוָ֔ה [2] Zaqef
 
כׇּל־מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֖ם [2] Tip'cha
עָלָֽי׃ [1] Silluq
ס
2 3 2 61 You have heard their reproach [3]
O LORD, [2]
 
all their plans [2]
against me, [1]

62 שִׂפְתֵ֤י קָמַי֙ [3] Pashta
וְהֶגְיוֹנָ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
עָלַ֖י [2] Tip'cha
כׇּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 62 the lips of those who rise up against me [3]
and their murmuring [2]
 
against me [2]
all day long. [1]

63 שִׁבְתָּ֤ם וְקִֽימָתָם֙ [3] Pashta
הַבִּ֔יטָה [2] Zaqef
 
אֲנִ֖י [2] Tip'cha
מַנְגִּינָתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 63 Their sitting and their rising [3]
you see, [2]
 
I [2]
am their song of mocking. [1]

64 תָּשִׁ֨יב לָהֶ֥ם גְּמ֛וּל [3] Tevir
יְהֹוָ֖ה [2] Tip'cha
כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יְדֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 64 Pay them back what they deserve [3]
O LORD, [2]
according to the work of their hands. [1]

65 תִּתֵּ֤ן לָהֶם֙ [3] Pashta
מְגִנַּת־לֵ֔ב [2] Zaqef
 
תַּאֲלָֽתְךָ֖ [2] Tip'cha
לָהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 65 Give to them [3]
hardness of heart, [2]
 
your curse, [2]
may it be theirs. [1]

66 תִּרְדֹּ֤ף בְּאַף֙ [3] Pashta
וְתַשְׁמִידֵ֔ם [2] Zaqef
 
מִתַּ֖חַת [2] Tip'cha
שְׁמֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 2 66 Pursue them in anger [3]
and destroy them, [2]
 
from under [2]
the heavens of the LORD. [1]
