1 “And now [3] to you [3] is this commandment, [2] O priests. [1] |
2 If you will not listen, [4] and if you will not take it to heart [4] to give honor to my name,” [3] the LORD of Hosts, [2] the curse, [2] your blessings; [1] I have cursed it, [2] take (it) to heart. [1] |
3 Behold I will rebuke yours [3] the offspring, [2] on your faces, [2] of your feasts; [1] with it. [1] |
4 And you will know [2] I have sent to you [2] this commandment; [1] with Levi,” [2] the LORD of Hosts. [1] |
5 “My covenant, [4] it was with him, [3] and the peace, [2] and he feared me; [1] he was in awe, he. [1] |
6 The law of truth, [3] it was in his mouth, [2] it was not found on his lips; [1] he walked with me, [2] he turned away from iniquity. [1] |
7 For the lips of a priest, [3] they will preserve knowledge, [2] people will seek from his mouth; [1] the messenger of the LORD of Hosts [2] is he. [1] |
8 But you, [3] you have turned aside from the path. [2] in the law. [1] the covenant of Levi,” [2] the LORD of Hosts. [1] |
9 “Therefore also I, [4] I have made you [3] despised and lowly [2] to all the people; [1] that you are not [3] keeping my ways, [2] in the law. [1] ¶ |
10 Do not one father [3] we all have? [2] one God [2] [he] create us? [1] do we deal treacherously [3] each with his brother, [2] the covenant of our fathers? [1] |
11 Judah has acted treacherously, [2] it has been committed in Israel, [2] and in Jerusalem; [1] Judah has profaned [3] which he loves, [2] a daughter of a foreign god. [1] |
12 May the LORD cut off [4] to the person who does it, [3 3] one who wakes and who answers, [2] of Jacob; [1] to the LORD [2] of Hosts. [1] ¶ |
13 And this [3] second thing you do, [2] the altar of the LORD, [2] and with groaning; [1] turning [3] to the offering, [2] from your hand. [1] |
14 Yet you say, [2] ‘For what reason?’ [1] that the LORD has been witness between you [4] and between [4] the wife of your youth, [3] you have been unfaithful to her, [2] and the wife of your covenant. [1] |
15 Did he not make (them) one, [3] with a portion of the Spirit [3 3] that belongs to him? [2] one? [2] godly offspring. [1] to your spirit, [2] let no one be unfaithful. [1] |
16 For he hates divorce,” [3] says the LORD, [3] the God of Israel, [2] his garment!” [2] the LORD of Hosts; [1] that you not be unfaithful. [1] ¶ |
17 You have wearied the LORD [3] with your words. [2] ‘How have we wearied him?’ [1] is good [4] in the eyes of the LORD, [3] he, he delights,’ [2] is the God of justice?’ [1] |
