[1] Merkha Silluq |
1 The words of Nehemiah [2] son of Hacaliah; [1] year twenty, [2] in Susa the palace, [1] |
2 that he came, Hanani [4] one of my brothers, [3] he and some men [2] from Judah; [1] about those from Judah who had escaped, [3] who had remained from the captivity, [2] and about Jerusalem. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
3 And they said [3] to me, [2] who have remained from the captivity [3] there in the province [2] and in disgrace; [1] is broken down, [2] they have been burned with fire.” [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
4 So it was, [4] when I heard [4] these words, [3] and I wept, [2] (for) days; [1] and prayed [2] the God of the heavens, [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |
5 and I said, [3] “I beg you, O LORD, [3] God of the heavens, [2] and awesome; [1] and lovingkindness [2] and keep his commandments, [1] |
6 please let your ear be attentive and your eyes open, [4] to hear the prayer of your servant [4] which I am praying before you today [3] by day and night, [2] your servants; [1] the sins of the children of Israel [3] which we have sinned against you, [2] we have sinned. [1] |
[1] Merkha Silluq |

8 Remember please [3] the word [2] your servant Moses [2] saying; [1] I, [2] I will scatter you [2] among the peoples, [1] |
9 but if you return to me, [2] my commandments [2] them; [1] at the ends of the heavens, [3] from there I will gather them, [2] to the place [2] to make my name dwell [2] there.’ [1] |
10 Now they are your servants [2] and your people; [1] by your great power, [2] the mighty. [1] |

11 I beg you O Lord, [3] to the prayer of your servant [4] and to the prayer of your servants [3] to fear your name, [2] today [2] before [2] this man.” [1] I was cupbearer [2] to the king. [1] ¶ |
