son of Hacaliah; [1]

now it happened in the month of Kislev, [3]
year twenty, [2]

when I, I was [2]
in Susa the palace, [1]
2 וַיָּבֹ֨א חֲנָ֜נִי [4] Qadma Geresh

from Judah; [1]

and I asked them [4]
about those from Judah who had escaped, [3]
who had remained from the captivity, [2]
and about Jerusalem. [1]

to me, [2]

“The remnant [4]
who have remained from the captivity [3]
there in the province [2]

are in great distress [2]
and in disgrace; [1]

and the wall of Jerusalem [3]
is broken down, [2]

and its gates, [2]
they have been burned with fire.” [1]
