1 ט֤וֹב פַּ֣ת חֲ֭רֵבָה [3] Dechi
וְשַׁלְוָה־בָ֑הּ [2] Etnachta
 
מִ֝בַּ֗יִת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מָלֵ֥א זִבְחֵי־רִֽיב׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 1 Good is a dry piece of bread, [3]
and peace with it; [2]
 
more than a house [2]
full of feasting with strife. [1]
2 עֶֽבֶד־מַשְׂכִּ֗יל [3] Revi'i
יִ֭מְשֹׁל [3] Dechi
בְּבֵ֣ן מֵבִ֑ישׁ [2] Etnachta
 
וּבְת֥וֹךְ אַ֝חִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יַחֲלֹ֥ק נַחֲלָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 3 2 2 A servant who acts wisely, [3]
he will rule [3]
over a son who acts shamefully; [2]
 
and with brothers [2]
he will share the inheritance. [1]
3 מַצְרֵ֣ף לַ֭כֶּסֶף [3] Dechi
וְכ֣וּר לַזָּהָ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וּבֹחֵ֖ן לִבּ֣וֹת [2] VRevMug
יְהֹוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 A crucible is for silver, [3]
and a furnace for gold; [2]
 
but a tester of hearts [2]
is the LORD. [1]
4 מֵ֭רַע [3] Dechi
מַקְשִׁ֣יב עַל־שְׂפַת־אָ֑וֶן [2] Etnachta
 
שֶׁ֥קֶר מֵ֝זִ֗ין [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עַל־לְשׁ֥וֹן הַוֺּֽת׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 4 An evildoer [3]
heeds wicked lips; [2]
 
A liar gives ear [2]
to a malicious tongue. [1]
5 לֹעֵ֣ג לָ֭רָשׁ [3] Dechi
חֵרֵ֣ף עֹשֵׂ֑הוּ [2] Etnachta
 
שָׂמֵ֥חַ לְ֝אֵ֗יד [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א יִנָּקֶֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 5 Whoever mocks the poor, [3]
he insults his Maker; [2]
 
one who is glad for calamity, [2]
he shall not go unpunished. [1]
6 עֲטֶ֣רֶת זְ֭קֵנִים [3] Dechi
בְּנֵ֣י בָנִ֑ים [2] Etnachta
 
וְתִפְאֶ֖רֶת בָּנִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
אֲבוֹתָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 6 The crown of the elderly [3]
are children of children; [2]
 
and the glory of children [2]
are their parents. [1]
7 לֹא־נָאוָ֣ה לְנָבָ֣ל [3] VDechi
שְׂפַת־יֶ֑תֶר [2] Etnachta
 
אַ֝֗ף [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כִּֽי־לְנָדִ֥יב שְׂפַת־שָֽׁקֶר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 7 Not fitting for a fool [3]
are lips of eloquence; [2]
 
much less [2]
for a ruler are lips of deception. [1]
8 אֶבֶן־חֵ֣ן הַ֭שֹּׁחַד [3] Dechi
בְּעֵינֵ֣י בְעָלָ֑יו [2] Etnachta
 
אֶֽל־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֖ר יִפְנֶ֣ה [2] VRevMug
יַשְׂכִּֽיל׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 A bribe is a precious stone [3]
in the eyes of the one who gives it; [2]
 
wherever he turns, [2]
he prospers. [1]
9 מְֽכַסֶּה־פֶּ֭שַׁע [3] Dechi
מְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אַהֲבָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְשֹׁנֶ֥ה בְ֝דָבָ֗ר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מַפְרִ֥יד אַלּֽוּף׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 9 One who covers up an offense [3]
seeks love; [2]
 
but one who repeats a matter [2]
separates close friends. [1]
10 תֵּ֣חַת גְּעָרָ֣ה [3] VDechi
בְמֵבִ֑ין [2] Etnachta
 
מֵהַכּ֖וֹת כְּסִ֣יל [2] VRevMug
מֵאָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 10 A rebuke goes deep [3]
into one who has understanding; [2]
 
more than striking a fool [2]
a hundred times. [1]
11 אַךְ־מְרִ֥י יְבַקֶּשׁ־רָ֑ע [2] Etnachta
 
וּמַלְאָ֥ךְ אַ֝כְזָרִ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יְשֻׁלַּח־בּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 11 Only rebellion he seeks, an evil man; [2]
 
and a cruel messenger, [2]
he shall be sent against him. [1]
12 פָּג֬וֹשׁ דֹּ֣ב שַׁכּ֣וּל [3] VDechi
בְּאִ֑ישׁ [2] Etnachta
 
וְאַל־כְּ֝סִ֗יל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בְּאִוַּלְתּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 12 Let a bear robbed of her cubs meet [3]
a man; [2]
 
rather than a fool [2]
in his folly. [1]
13 מֵשִׁ֣יב רָ֭עָה [3] Dechi
תַּ֣חַת טוֹבָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
לֹא־*תמיש **תָמ֥וּשׁ רָ֝עָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מִבֵּיתֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 13 Whoever pays back evil [3]
for good; [2]
 
evil shall not depart [2]
from his house. [1]
14 פּ֣וֹטֵֽר מַ֭יִם [3] Dechi
רֵאשִׁ֣ית מָד֑וֹן [2] Etnachta
 
וְלִפְנֵ֥י הִ֝תְגַּלַּ֗ע [2] Revi'i Mugrash
הָרִ֥יב נְטֽוֹשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 14 Like letting out water [3]
is the beginning of strife; [2]
 
so before it breaks out, [2]
drop the dispute. [1]
15 מַצְדִּ֣יק רָ֭שָׁע [3] Dechi
וּמַרְשִׁ֣יעַ צַדִּ֑יק [2] Etnachta
 
תּוֹעֲבַ֥ת יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
גַּם־שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 15 Justifying the wicked, [3]
and condemning the righteous; [2]
 
an abomination to the LORD [2]
are both of them alike. [1]
16 לָמָּה־זֶּ֣ה מְחִ֣יר [3] VDechi
בְּיַד־כְּסִ֑יל [2] Etnachta
 
לִקְנ֖וֹת חׇכְמָ֣ה [2] VRevMug
וְלֶב־אָֽיִן׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 16 Why is there money [3]
in the hand of a fool; [2]
 
to acquire wisdom - [2]
but yet understanding, there is none? [1]
17 בְּכׇל־עֵ֭ת [3] Dechi
אֹהֵ֣ב הָרֵ֑עַ [2] Etnachta
 
וְאָ֥ח לְ֝צָרָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יִוָּלֵֽד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 17 At all times, [3]
a friend loves; [2]
 
and a brother for adversity, [2]
he is born. [1]
18 אָדָ֣ם חֲסַר־לֵ֭ב [3] Dechi
תּוֹקֵ֣עַ כָּ֑ף [2] Etnachta
 
עֹרֵ֥ב עֲ֝רֻבָּ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לִפְנֵ֥י רֵעֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 18 A man lacking judgement [3]
shakes hands; [2]
 
pledging a pledge [2]
before his neighbor. [1]
19 אֹ֣הֵֽב פֶּ֭שַׁע [3] Dechi
אֹהֵ֣ב מַצָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
מַגְבִּ֥יהַּ פִּ֝תְח֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מְבַקֶּשׁ־שָֽׁבֶר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 19 One who loves transgression [3]
loves strife; [2]
 
one who makes high his gate [2]
seeks destruction. [1]
20 עִקֶּשׁ־לֵ֭ב [3] Dechi
לֹ֣א יִמְצָא־ט֑וֹב [2] Etnachta
 
וְנֶהְפָּ֥ךְ בִּ֝לְשׁוֹנ֗וֹ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יִפּ֥וֹל בְּרָעָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 The perverse of heart, [3]
he finds nothing good; [2]
 
and the twisted in tongue, [2]
he falls into trouble. [1]
21 יֹלֵ֣ד כְּ֭סִיל [3] Dechi
לְת֣וּגָה ל֑וֹ [2] Etnachta
 
וְלֹא־יִ֝שְׂמַ֗ח [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אֲבִ֣י נָבָֽל׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 21 One who fathers a fool [3]
gets himself grief; [2]
 
for he has no joy, [2]
the father of a fool. [1]
22 לֵ֣ב שָׂ֭מֵחַ [3] Dechi
יֵיטִ֣יב גֵּהָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְר֥וּחַ נְ֝כֵאָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תְּיַבֶּשׁ־גָּֽרֶם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 22 A cheerful heart [3]
is good medicine; [2]
 
but a crushed spirit, [2]
it dries up the bones. [1]
23 שֹׁ֣חַד מֵ֭חֵק [3] Dechi
רָשָׁ֣ע יִקָּ֑ח [2] Etnachta
 
לְ֝הַטּ֗וֹת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אׇרְח֥וֹת מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 23 A bribe in secret [3]
a wicked man receives; [2]
 
to pervert [2]
the ways of justice. [1]
24 אֶת־פְּנֵ֣י מֵבִ֣ין [3] VDechi
חׇכְמָ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
וְעֵינֵ֥י כְ֝סִ֗יל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
בִּקְצֵה־אָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 24 Right in front of one who has understanding, [3]
is wisdom; [2]
 
but the eyes of a fool [2]
are on the ends of the earth. [1]
25 כַּ֣עַס לְ֭אָבִיו [3] Dechi
בֵּ֣ן כְּסִ֑יל [2] Etnachta
 
וּ֝מֶ֗מֶר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְיֽוֹלַדְתּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 25 Grief to his father[3]
is a foolish son; [2]
 
and bitterness [2]
to the one who bore him. [1]
26 גַּ֤ם עֲנ֣וֹשׁ לַצַּדִּ֣יק [3] VDechi
לֹא־ט֑וֹב [2] Etnachta
 
לְהַכּ֖וֹת נְדִיבִ֣ים [2] VRevMug
עַל־יֹֽשֶׁר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 26 To penalize even the righteous [3]
is not good; [2]
 
to strike officials [2]
for their integrity. [1]
27 חוֹשֵׂ֣ךְ אֲ֭מָרָיו [3] Dechi
יוֹדֵ֣עַ דָּ֑עַת [2] Etnachta
 
*וקר **יְקַר־ר֝֗וּחַ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אִ֣ישׁ תְּבוּנָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 27 One who spares his words [3]
has knowledge; [2]
 
one who is even tempered [2]
is a man of understanding. [1]
28 גַּ֤ם אֱוִ֣יל מַ֭חֲרִישׁ [3] Dechi
חָכָ֣ם יֵחָשֵׁ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
אֹטֵ֖ם שְׂפָתָ֣יו [2] VRevMug
נָבֽוֹן׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 28 Even a fool who keeps silent, [3]
he is considered wise; [2]
 
who shuts his lips, [2]
discerning. [1]
