1 וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב [3/2] Revi'i וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ [1] Silluq |
1 Then Job answered, [3/2] |
|||
2 אָ֭מְנָם [3] Dechi כִּ֣י אַתֶּם־עָ֑ם [2] Etnachta תָּמ֥וּת חָכְמָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
2 “No doubt, but you are the people, and wisdom will die with you. [3] |

3 גַּם־לִ֤י לֵבָ֨ב ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh כְּֽמוֹכֶ֗ם [3] Revi'i מִכֶּ֑ם [2] Etnachta |
3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Yes, who doesn’t know such things as these? [4] |

4 שְׂחֹ֤ק לְרֵעֵ֨הוּ ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh אֶֽהְיֶ֗ה [3] Revi'i וַֽיַּעֲנֵ֑הוּ [2] Etnachta צַדִּ֥יק תָּמִֽים׃ [1] Silluq |
4 I am like one who is a joke to his neighbor, I, who called on God, and he answered. The just, the blameless man is a joke. [4] |

5 לַפִּ֣יד בּ֭וּז [3] Dechi לְעַשְׁתּ֣וּת שַׁאֲנָ֑ן [2] Etnachta לְמ֣וֹעֲדֵי רָֽגֶל׃ [1] Silluq |
5 In the thought of him who is at ease there is contempt for misfortune. It is ready for them whose foot slips. [3] |

6 יִשְׁלָ֤יוּ אֹֽהָלִ֨ים ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh לְשֹׁ֥דְדִ֗ים [3] Revi'i לְמַרְגִּ֣יזֵי אֵ֑ל [2] Etnachta אֱל֣וֹהַּ [2] VRevMug~ בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
6 They prosper, the tents [4] of destroyers, [3] belongs to those who provoke God; [2] god [2] in his hand. [1] |

7 וְֽאוּלָ֗ם [3] Revi'i שְׁאַל־נָ֣א בְהֵמ֣וֹת [3] VDechi וְתֹרֶ֑ךָּ [2] Etnachta וְיַגֶּד־לָֽךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
7 “But ask the animals, now, and they will teach you; the birds of the sky, and they will tell you. [3] |

8 א֤וֹ שִׂ֣יחַ לָאָ֣רֶץ [3] VDechi וְתֹרֶ֑ךָּ [2] Etnachta דְּגֵ֣י הַיָּֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
8 Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you. The fish of the sea will declare to you. [3] |

9 מִ֭י [3] Dechi לֹא־יָדַ֣ע בְּכָל־אֵ֑לֶּה [2] Etnachta עָ֣שְׂתָה זֹּֽאת׃ [1] Silluq |
9 Who doesn’t know that in all these, The LORD’s hand has done this, [3] |

10 אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּ֭יָדוֹ [3] Dechi נֶ֣פֶשׁ כָּל־חָ֑י [2] Etnachta כָּל־בְּשַׂר־אִֽישׁ׃ [1] Silluq |
10 in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind? [3] |

11 הֲלֹא־אֹ֭זֶן [3] Dechi מִלִּ֣ין תִּבְחָ֑ן [2] Etnachta אֹ֣כֶל יִטְעַם־לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq |
11 Doesn’t the ear try words, even as the palate tastes its food? [3] |

12 בִּֽישִׁישִׁ֥ים חָכְמָ֑ה [2] Etnachta תְּבוּנָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
12 With aged men is wisdom, in length of days understanding. [2] |
|||
13 עִ֭מּוֹ [3] Dechi חָכְמָ֣ה וּגְבוּרָ֑ה [2] Etnachta עֵצָ֥ה וּתְבוּנָֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
13 “With God is wisdom and might. He has counsel and understanding. [3] |
|||
14 הֵ֣ן יַ֭הֲרוֹס [3] Dechi וְלֹ֣א יִבָּנֶ֑ה [2] Etnachta וְלֹ֣א יִפָּתֵֽחַ׃ [1] Silluq |
14 Behold, he breaks down, and it can’t be built again. He imprisons a man, and there can be no release. [3] |

15 הֵ֤ן יַעְצֹ֣ר בַּמַּ֣יִם [3] VDechi וְיִבָ֑שׁוּ [2] Etnachta וְיַ֖הַפְכוּ אָֽרֶץ׃ [1] Silluq |
15 Behold, he withholds the waters, and they dry up. Again, he sends them out, and they overturn the earth. [3] |

16 עִ֭מּוֹ [3] Dechi עֹ֣ז וְתֽוּשִׁיָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta שֹׁגֵ֥ג וּמַשְׁגֶּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
16 With him is strength and wisdom. The deceived and the deceiver are his. [3] |

17 מוֹלִ֣יךְ יוֹעֲצִ֣ים [3] VDechi שׁוֹלָ֑ל [2] Etnachta |
17 He leads counselors away stripped. He makes judges fools. [3] |
|||
18 מוּסַ֣ר מְלָכִ֣ים [3] VDechi פִּתֵּ֑חַ [2] Etnachta בְּמָתְנֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
18 He loosens the bond of kings. He binds their waist with a belt. [3] |
|||
19 מוֹלִ֣יךְ כֹּהֲנִ֣ים [3] VDechi שׁוֹלָ֑ל [2] Etnachta |
19 He leads priests away stripped, and overthrows the mighty. [3] |
|||
20 מֵסִ֣יר שָׂ֭פָה [3] Dechi לְנֶאֱמָנִ֑ים [2] Etnachta יִקָּֽח׃ [1] Silluq |
20 He removes the speech of those who are trusted, and takes away the understanding of the elders. [3] |
|||
21 שׁוֹפֵ֣ךְ בּ֭וּז [3] Dechi עַל־נְדִיבִ֑ים [2] Etnachta רִפָּֽה׃ [1] Silluq |
21 He pours contempt on princes, and loosens the belt of the strong. [3] |
|||
22 מְגַלֶּ֣ה עֲ֭מֻקוֹת [3] Dechi מִנִּי־חֹ֑שֶׁךְ [2] Etnachta צַלְמָֽוֶת׃ [1] Silluq |
22 He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death. [3] |

23 מַשְׂגִּ֣יא לַ֭גּוֹיִם [3] Dechi וַֽיְאַבְּדֵ֑ם [2] Etnachta וַיַּנְחֵֽם׃ [1] Silluq |
23 He increases the nations, and he destroys them. He enlarges the nations, and he leads them captive. [3] |

24 מֵסִ֗יר [3] Revi'i לֵ֭ב [3] Dechi רָאשֵׁ֣י עַם־הָאָ֑רֶץ [2] Etnachta בְּתֹ֣הוּ לֹא־דָֽרֶךְ׃ [1] Silluq |
24 He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way. [3] |

25 יְמַֽשְׁשׁוּ־חֹ֥שֶׁךְ וְלֹא־א֑וֹר [2] Etnachta כַּשִּׁכּֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq |
25 They grope in the dark without light. He makes them stagger like a drunken man. ¶ [2] |
