1 אַֽל־תִּ֭תְהַלֵּל [3] Dechi
בְּי֣וֹם מָחָ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
כִּ֤י לֹא־תֵ֝דַ֗ע [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מַה־יֵּ֥לֶד יֽוֹם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 1 Don’t boast about tomorrow; for you don’t know what a day may bring. [3]
2 יְהַלֶּלְךָ֣ זָ֣ר [3] VDechi
וְלֹא־פִ֑יךָ [2] Etnachta
 
נָ֝כְרִ֗י [2] Revi'i Mugrash
וְאַל־שְׂפָתֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 2 Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips. [3]
3 כֹּֽבֶד־אֶ֭בֶן [3] Dechi
וְנֵ֣טֶל הַח֑וֹל [2] Etnachta
 
וְכַ֥עַס אֱ֝וִ֗יל [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כָּבֵ֥ד מִשְּׁנֵיהֶֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 3 A stone is heavy, and sand is a burden; but a fool’s provocation is heavier than both. [3]
4 אַכְזְרִיּ֣וּת חֵ֭מָה [3] Dechi
וְשֶׁ֣טֶף אָ֑ף [2] Etnachta
 
וּמִ֥י יַ֝עֲמֹד [2] Geresh
לִפְנֵ֥י קִנְאָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; but who is able to stand before jealousy? [3]
5 ט֭וֹבָה [3] Dechi
תּוֹכַ֣חַת מְגֻלָּ֑ה [2] Etnachta
 
מֵֽאַהֲבָ֥ה מְסֻתָּֽרֶת׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 5 Better is open rebuke than hidden love. [3]
6 נֶ֭אֱמָנִים [3] Dechi
פִּצְעֵ֣י אוֹהֵ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נַעְתָּר֗וֹת [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נְשִׁיק֥וֹת שׂוֹנֵֽא׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 6 The wounds of a friend are faithful, although the kisses of an enemy are profuse. [3]
7 נֶ֣פֶשׁ שְׂ֭בֵעָה [3] Dechi
תָּב֣וּס נֹ֑פֶת [2] Etnachta
 
וְנֶ֥פֶשׁ רְ֝עֵבָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
כָּל־מַ֥ר מָתֽוֹק׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 7 A full soul loathes a honeycomb; but to a hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet. [3]
8 כְּ֭צִפּוֹר [3] Dechi
נוֹדֶ֣דֶת מִן־קִנָּ֑הּ [2] Etnachta
 
כֵּֽן־אִ֝֗ישׁ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נוֹדֵ֥ד מִמְּקוֹמֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 8 As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man who wanders from his home. [3]
9 שֶׁ֣מֶן וּ֭קְטֹרֶת [3] Dechi
יְשַׂמַּֽח־לֵ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וּמֶ֥תֶק רֵ֝עֵ֗הוּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מֵֽעֲצַת־נָֽפֶשׁ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; so does earnest counsel from a man’s friend. [3]
10 רֵֽעֲךָ֨ *ורעה **וְרֵ֪עַ אָבִ֡יךָ [4] Pazer
אַֽל־תַּעֲזֹ֗ב [3] Revi'i
 
וּבֵ֥ית אָחִ֗יךָ [3] Revi'i
אַל־תָּ֭בוֹא [3] Dechi
בְּי֣וֹם אֵידֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
ט֥וֹב שָׁכֵ֥ן קָ֝ר֗וֹב [2] Revi'i Mugrash
מֵאָ֥ח רָחֽוֹק׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 3 2 10 Don’t forsake your friend and your father’s friend. Don’t go to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster. A neighbor who is near is better than a distant brother. [4]
11 חֲכַ֣ם בְּ֭נִי [3] Dechi
וְשַׂמַּ֣ח לִבִּ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
וְאָשִׁ֖יבָה חֹרְפִ֣י [2] VRevMug
דָבָֽר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 11 Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart, then I can answer my tormentor. [3]
12 עָר֤וּם רָאָ֣ה רָעָ֣ה [3] VDechi
נִסְתָּ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
פְּ֝תָאיִ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עָבְר֥וּ נֶעֱנָֽשׁוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 12 A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it. [3]
13 קַח־בִּ֭גְדוֹ [3] Dechi
כִּי־עָ֣רַב זָ֑ר [2] Etnachta
 
וּבְעַ֖ד נָכְרִיָּ֣ה [2] VRevMug
חַבְלֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 13 Take his garment when he puts up collateral for a stranger. Hold it for a wayward woman! [3]
14 מְבָ֘רֵ֤ךְ רֵעֵ֨הוּ ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
בְּק֣וֹל גָּ֭דוֹל [3] Dechi
בַּבֹּ֣קֶר הַשְׁכֵּ֑ים [2] Etnachta
 
קְ֝לָלָ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
תֵּחָ֥שֶׁב לֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 2 14 He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse by him. [4]
15 דֶּ֣לֶף ט֭וֹרֵד [3] Dechi
בְּי֣וֹם סַגְרִ֑יר [2] Etnachta
 
וְאֵ֥שֶׁת *מדונים **מִ֝דְיָנִ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
נִשְׁתָּוָֽה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 15 A continual dropping on a rainy day and a contentious wife are alike, [3]
16 צֹפְנֶ֥יהָ צָֽפַן־ר֑וּחַ [2] Etnachta
 
וְשֶׁ֖מֶן יְמִינ֣וֹ [2] VRevMug
יִקְרָֽא׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 16 restraining her is like restraining the wind, or like grasping oil in his right hand. [2]
 
17 בַּרְזֶ֣ל בְּבַרְזֶ֣ל [3] VDechi
יָ֑חַד [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝אִ֗ישׁ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
יַ֣חַד פְּנֵֽי־רֵעֵֽהוּ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 17 Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance. [3]
18 נֹצֵ֣ר תְּ֭אֵנָה [3] Dechi
יֹאכַ֣ל פִּרְיָ֑הּ [2] Etnachta
 
וְשֹׁמֵ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣יו [2] VRevMug
יְכֻבָּֽד׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 18 Whoever tends the fig tree shall eat its fruit. He who looks after his master shall be honored. [3]
19 כַּ֭מַּיִם [3] Dechi
הַפָּנִ֣ים לַפָּנִ֑ים [2] Etnachta
 
כֵּ֤ן לֵֽב־הָ֝אָדָ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לָאָדָֽם׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 19 Like water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man. [3]
20 שְׁא֣וֹל *ואבדה **וַ֭אֲבַדּוֹ [3] Dechi
לֹ֣א תִשְׂבַּ֑עְנָה [2] Etnachta
 
וְעֵינֵ֥י הָ֝אָדָ֗ם [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לֹ֣א תִשְׂבַּֽעְנָה׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 20 Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied; and a man’s eyes are never satisfied. [3]
21 מַצְרֵ֣ף לַ֭כֶּסֶף [3] Dechi
וְכ֣וּר לַזָּהָ֑ב [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝אִ֗ישׁ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְפִ֣י מַהֲלָלֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 21 The crucible is for silver, and the furnace for gold; but man is refined by his praise. [3]
22 אִ֥ם תִּכְתּֽוֹשׁ־אֶת־הָאֱוִ֨יל ׀ [4] Azla Legarmeh
בַּֽמַּכְתֵּ֡שׁ [4] Pazer
בְּת֣וֹךְ הָ֭רִיפוֹת [3] Dechi
בַּֽעֱלִ֑י [2] Etnachta
 
לֹא־תָס֥וּר מֵ֝עָלָ֗יו [2] Revi'i Mugrash
אִוַּלְתּֽוֹ׃ [1] Silluq

2 3 4 4 2 22 Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with grain, yet his foolishness will not be removed from him. [4]
23 יָדֹ֣עַ תֵּ֭דַע [3] Dechi
פְּנֵ֣י צֹאנֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
שִׁ֥ית לִ֝בְּךָ֗ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לַעֲדָרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 23 Know well the state of your flocks, and pay attention to your herds, [3]
24 כִּ֤י לֹ֣א לְעוֹלָ֣ם [3] VDechi
חֹ֑סֶן [2] Etnachta
 
וְאִם־נֵ֝֗זֶר [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְד֣וֹר *דור **וָדֽוֹר׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 24 for riches are not forever, nor does the crown endure to all generations. [3]
25 גָּלָ֣ה חָ֭צִיר [3] Dechi
וְנִרְאָה־דֶ֑שֶׁא [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝נֶאֶסְפ֗וּ [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עִשְּׂב֥וֹת הָרִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 2 25 The hay is removed, and the new growth appears, the grasses of the hills are gathered in. [3]
26 כְּבָשִׂ֥ים לִלְבוּשֶׁ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וּמְחִ֥יר שָׂ֝דֶ֗ה [2] Revi'i Mugrash
עַתּוּדִֽים׃ [1] Silluq
2 2 26 The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of a field. [2]
 
27 וְדֵ֤י ׀ [4] Mahpakh Legarmeh
חֲלֵ֬ב עִזִּ֗ים [3] Revi'i
 
לְֽ֭לַחְמְךָ [3] Dechi
לְלֶ֣חֶם בֵּיתֶ֑ךָ [2] Etnachta
 
וְ֝חַיִּ֗ים [2] Revi'i Mugrash
לְנַעֲרוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ [1] Silluq
2 3 4 3 2 27 There will be plenty of goats’ milk for your food, for your family’s food, and for the nourishment of your servant girls. ¶ [4]
